Some folks dont know Echo has been making power saws for a LONG LONG time. I have a nice small echo saw my son uses and its like from the 70s or early 80s. I got it for FREE. Its a fantastic little saw. The saw was in MINT shape and the guy said it wont run... I dumped out the old gas. put a small amount of true fuel in it sloshed it around dumped it out did that 2 times then put about 1/2 a tank of gas in it and it fired up like clock work. Mint little saw... Made in Japan. Im a Stihl fan boy. Big time... I bought the Echo 9010T backpack blower and its INSANE... It will blow rocks sticks and any leaves no matter what. the blowing force is awesome.
Correct echo has been around since the 1960s Actually welllllllllll before that. But for chainsaws they was sort of late to the game. Echo was known for thier leaf blowers n garden equipment Echo has been around for ages..and has always made quality stuff
Please get a CS-620 and compare, noticeable difference in power. CS590/620 differences: Cylinder porting, 2-ring piston, metal handle, mag clutch cover, captivate 19mm bar nuts, outer bucking spike, rim sprocket, unlimited coil, roller chain catcher, larger carb, solid rns vs laminated bar, welded muffler lower support spacers, timing/porting.
Yes sir! I have a 590 and it came alive when I did the muffler mod. I opened a new exhaust port a little smaller than a quarter (25 cents 😅). It’s a different saw…..totally different. Removed the limiters too…had to to get a good tune. Keep it up bud!!!
I’m owned and cut with a 590 for many years lots of wood. Never changed anything but went to a 620 rim sprocket. If you cut a lot of wood, the rim sprocket is a lot better improvement. Echo and your dealer will likely tell you that a 620 rim sprocket won’t fit on the 590 but it does and it’s great. In my estimation, it’s a better improvement than pouring or ignition or muffler changes. Just 10 years of experience with an echo saw cutting 25 chords and heating with wood in the Midwest. my 590 started great in all types of weather ran great and in my mind was better than a steel or Husqvarna that my buddies ran right with me and when they tried my echo, they couldn’t believe the torque. I ran 24 inch blades and that’s the only way to go. I used it as my trim saw everything.
That’s hogwash. You’re comparing an 88cc saw to a 59 cc saw. Either something was seriously wrong with the 390 or you’re talking through your underwear.
Echo cs 590 is like you said the best saw for the money. Used to use it daily to clear out my woods and it just plain works. If you want to buy a stihl for the same power you have to spend a bit more money. Echo has treated me well and been dead reliable. Thanks for the content and an excited to see more of the Timberwolf on the channel! Thank you and have a good day.
I love my 620 PW I couldn't imagine taking it apart and putting it on a 590 LOL but that thing does work pretty cool I'm impressed with what you have sir. And I'm maxed out with the 33 inch bar so I am extra impressed
I own 2 Timberwolves, one pipe modded and other muffler modded and of course the Air filter mods. They're really good saws, cuts anything you need it for.
30 full cord? 4x4x8. I have run one and was impressed with it and that was stock. I know if I wait I can get One that’s barely used for 300. I do 100 full cord a year.
I’m very happy with my 590. When my milling saw went down I hooked it up to a 42 inch bar and milled through 8 feet of white oak. It’s the most underrated saw on the market for sure
I personally love my echo chainsaws! I hope that one day you can run a stock Cs620p against the stock Cs590 with the same bar and chain in the same wood. Then maybe you can also run it against a few other chainsaws. Love the videos keep it up!
I dont know that i've seen a side by side comparison in wood. BUT Dyno Joe/Red97 showed dyno results between the two and the 620p is a spicier meatball.
Another great video of a great maybe best 60cc saw!! High jet mod muffler mod ( limit caps of course) shite air filter needs O rings Reshape the plastic inside the air filter 40:1 Red Armor Add 10% Castor Run 24 and 27 bars on mine Mostly 27 Oiler will keep up just keep bar groove cleaned out dead dry Ash is the worst Rakers about.030 for 20-24 bars .025 on the 27 Congrats on 4000!!
You've really got me thinking.....Echo is awesome, that much I've known for years....I wish I had money for ANY saw right now - I'd get one for sure....but, in Biden's America, I have bills to pay....
Hello Boedy. I’m a new chainsaw enthusiast. Been watching your channel now for several months. I bought an echo 5910 and performed a muffler mod, eliminated the limiters and plugged up that small limiting jet in the carburetor. Holy smoke it’s a new saw . Ran over 1600 rpm’s with out a chain. In the cut with 20 inches of bar in the wood I had 12,000 RPMs. And in hardwood. With an okay chain. Unbelievable. Thanks for the advice and tips. I’d love for you to port this saw for me. It’s hard to believe it could be any better. But I wanna find out. And run a 28 inch + bar. Insane.
Good content! Get the X Series, no modding necessary. After 30 years with Husqvarna XPs, I added some Echo Saws to my fleet this Spring 2024 season by recommendations from my mechanic. He was right, I am very impressed with the performance of the X Series Pro LIne. I did drop some coin on them, the CS 620 P, and the CS 7310 were around $1700 bucks together, with long bar, extra chains, etc. An MS 462 is 5.9 HP, and $1400. When you add the long bar, 2 chains, and tax, it's around $1700 here in Vermont. I am on the hunt to add a CS 8000, and I think that will be all I will ever need for power, reliability, and durability for less money than Husqvarna or Stihl in similar classed saws.
Vermonter here as well. Running a echo cs 590 and a husqvarna 395xp. Love them both. Surprisingly that echo takes quite a beating for being an inexpensive saw
Off the shelf MSRP, the 620p and especially the pw are an unbeatable value. I understand sticker shock, but you need to get the 590 for sub $250 to pass on the 620 as it gives you room to upgrade the clutch cover and bar to "pro" as i find the engine in stock form earns the rating by relatively recent standards.
As a professional tree climber for 29 years, all of my blowers/hedge-trimmers/weed-whackers, etc., have always been ECHO. I stand by that brand 200% As far as saws in this "cc range", I've been a die-hard fan of the MS-362 for almost 20 years now. While the saw in this video sounds really healthy, I would be surprised if it outperforms the 362 (I've heard that one of the recent iterations of the 362 sucked, but I was lucky enough to skip that phase, apparently)... [edit: I did run 36" bars on that saw by the way...which is not really ideal, obviously 🤣....just need to know how to work a cut with patience]
I bought my 590 from a garage sale about 5 years ago and still runs like a champ. No modifications so i doubt it would run a 36 inch bar but i never tried it. I have a echo 800 with a 36 inch. It'll be a lot slower on some live hardwood i bet with the 590.
I have a Echo 590, several 680's and an 800. I run 28 inch bars on everything and I have one 36inch bar. I put that on the 590 believe it or not. The 590 is my best cutting most consistent saw and chews through hardwood with a 36. I probably wouldn't run a 42 on it, but it handles a 36 just fine! TBH the 800 really doesn't impress me. It's heavy, has very little mid range torque and can bog easily. You keep the RPM's up and it does fine though.
You ain't joking about the saw coming alive on muffler mod, I ordered a red beard air filter, 620 carb & dual pipe muffler mod. I do run saw without air filter cover. Mo air mo power
Have had issues with the chain tensioner on my 590 (easy fix, but annoying), so I purchased a Husqvarna 450 Rancher. The 450 is lighter and seems like a good saw (i.e. does the job) - but it's not a Timberwolf. The 590 is heavier, but it's a pure beast. There is nothing I feel under-gunned for with the 590, and I can't say that with the Husky.
Echo's big saws are Shindaiwa's. They bought the company many years ago. The Shidaiwa is the second best saw I ever owned and I have owned them all. the only one I liked better was a 90 cc Jonsered 910. The 60cc Shindaiwa would cut as well as the Jonsered. I own 2, 590's and love them.
We went through these saws like crazy, just kept crapping out on us. Guy at the local saw shop said he gets them in droves only a couple of months old. If you use it for commercial use, expect it to last 3-6 months
For parts, always check the prices from SEPW Small Engine Parts Warehouse in (Wisconsin?) I found them 8 or 10 months ago when looking for Shindaiwa and Echo parts...& they by far have the cheapest prices on every single part I've needed. cheaper than everybody else online by far, and they seem to simply price everything at 20% to 25% less than MSRP. Cs620p Ignition Coil $66.51 Cs620 Carbeurator $72.88 I've have no connection to them, and couldn't care less where people buy their parts from. I just like to pay as little as possible exorbitantly overpriced parts. I guess part of the reason individual parts are so expensive, is the retailers tack on extra to cover the shelf space of parts in warehouses..Like a rental of space that the part took up, since it was manufactured I guess.
Got mine off eBay w 24" for $399. Did get a 20" and put on it though. Couldn't say no when everywhere else, including all other sellers on eBay, twas $419-449 w 20". Took a while but now that it's broke in it's come alive. Did the muffler right away so didn't notice anything there. Think it will very soon pass my Husq 450 as my fave
Quick question. What does it take to make the Stihl bar’s work on an echo and will a husky bar fit? I currently run husky with 3/8 .050 on a 562 Xp. Thanks like all your videos so far!
Thanks for further showing me I didn't NEED my 660 clone😅 seriously though, love my CS-590 also with pretty basic mods. Typically run it with a 20" bar but it has no problems running a 27 or 28" whatever echo calls it bar when I need a little more reach!
Love the video , you might advise me on something, I have a 620 p stock , great saw , I wanted to mill a large oak that has come my way ,would the 620 p work a 36 inch bar in a milling situation. What off the shelf mod would give her a bit more power ?Best regards.
Absolutely do not do this! Terrible idea. Even in regular cutting, a 36" bar in big wood will quickly kill your saw in some fashion. But milling? You'll smoke the clutch on the first cut if the piston doesn't go first. It isn't made for that. Buy a 90cc class saw for that stuff, or don't do it. Those are your two options. Best bolt on mod is easy. Remove your muffler and take it to or send it to someone who can cut the guts out of it and do a proper muffler mod. No...don't send it to me. I am not interested. Matt Robinson of Gearhead Performance is the guy you wanna go to. He has many great products for the 590/620. You can find his UA-cam channel by searching Gearhead - Matt R Hope this helps.
PS, tell Matt Boedy sent you. Just want him to know I'm sending folks his way. He's a good dude that does good work. And he kinda specializes in the Echo 590 and 620 saws.
@@novicelumberjack Thanks for that info , I might just go big and buy the big stihl , it’s 112 cc and use it for milling only . I live in Ireland 🇮🇪 but I also have a holiday home in the wilds of Cuba , over there the chainsaw has to be the saw mill , if I was going to invest $1200 or $1400 what would you go for .
24, yes. 28...no. and you MUST have a muffler mod. Milling is really hard on a saw and the stock muffler has heat by design. Absolutely MUST have a good muffler mod and be capable of adjusting the carburetor.
Been using one for a tree service for idk.. 5 or 6 years in big wood, been dropped thrown and tossed. My 038 (modded) will out run it by quite a bit. But even without the saying for the money, the 590 is a tough, stout bastard
The echo 600p same saw with a few up grades had stood the test of time outstanding the mac 610 are are some of the best 60cc saws ever made the thing with the mac it has a hand oiler to in my opinion a 60cc saw is the best all around fire wood cutting saw the longest bar I ever ran was a 28 but both saws pulled it well I have a 650 mac that is mint I know that Thay are a factory hot rod but I hate to run it I ran my 310 stihl the other weekend and it's nice but not in the same class as the echo or mac
As much as I like my Echo 590, love my 572xp more when running a lightweight bar on it. Brings it to within half a pound of the 590 with the same length bar. Now for small stuff, say 10in and under, prefer my 550xp.
I've been a commercial cutter for 40 years 590 timberwolf is the best saw I've ever owned my crew won't use my sthils or huskys they all switched to echo
Jonsereds from WHICH ERA?? I was so excited to hear you say that, because my very first saw, which I bought off of my Father in 1990, was a 1977 Jonsereds!!!👍💪💪😜 I know that they, like Husqvarna, ha e had ups and downs....which is why I'm curious....last I checked a few years ago, they were looking kinda cheaply made....but I'd love to hear news to the contrary....
Roughly since the turn of the century, Jonsered has been simply red versions of Husqvarna. Jonsered was discontinued worldwide around 2018. I feel like Jonsered was at its best between 1985-2008. Pretty much everything they made in this era was the best there was. The old ones before Electrolux bought them out (like your 1977) were also better than anything else at that time. They were really super high build quality back then.
Good saws, but you’re still not apples to apples on the 400 and Johnny Red bar for bar and chain. Be interesting to see a rematch when the 400 is broken in with the same bar & chain combo. Fun content never the less!
I have a 600p (virtually same as 590 or 620) and have a 32" bar i run on it regularly. The saw pulls it fine because it's running skip chain. But it Does keep up oiling @ 32" despite Echo recommending a 27" bar max for the saw 💁♂️
I run saws everyday for a living and I'm a fan of echo saws especially the trim saws. (355t) but I can't see that saw out performing an MS400 I've seen and ran them saws broken in and they eat . And if u throw an egan straight shot on a Ms400c watch out because it makes that saw come alive.

John deere used echo products. People never realized that
Echo chainsaws are rebranded shiwainda. Good pro saws
I bought a CS8000P back in ‘84. Still use her today and she is as strong as every😁
Wasn’t echo an homelite paired up at one time
Please get a CS-620 and compare, noticeable difference in power.
CS590/620 differences:
Cylinder porting, 2-ring piston, metal handle, mag clutch cover, captivate 19mm bar nuts, outer bucking spike, rim sprocket, unlimited coil, roller chain catcher, larger carb, solid rns vs laminated bar, welded muffler lower support spacers, timing/porting.
Bingo! My 620PW is my favorite saw by a long shot. Taking the 800P out tomorrow though; always a good time!
Yes sir! I have a 590 and it came alive when I did the muffler mod. I opened a new exhaust port a little smaller than a quarter (25 cents 😅). It’s a different saw…..totally different. Removed the limiters too…had to to get a good tune. Keep it up bud!!!
I also agree that the 590 is THE BEST saw available for the money. And punches WELL above it weight
I’m going to be porting a 590 for Tc’s Outdoors
#fuckecho #fuckhusqvarna #stihlforlife

Yup. I run a 28 on mine. Use it regularly cutting trees for the county. Never fails me.
Going from a 390xp to the 590, im hands down thoroughly impressed.
I absolutely love the timberwolf.
That’s hogwash. You’re comparing an 88cc saw to a 59 cc saw. Either something was seriously wrong with the 390 or you’re talking through your underwear.
@@thedieselpig4448I own a 590 and 395xp and I like my cs 590 but it will not touch 395xp definitely not apples and apples

Good job on this video. The echo 590 is definitely my go-to saw and I have a lot of saws mainly because of its power and weight
They are for sure good saws worth every penny.

Love my 590. Just don't get to use it enough.
This saw runs circles around the Stihl equivalent, I had them both. And the echo has absolute gods of torque compared to the stihls.
I would also suggest changing out the clutch drum and sprocket for the 620 setup.
Off the shelf MSRP, the 620p and especially the pw are an unbeatable value. Unfortunately they are quite expensive in Australia. They go for around the $1300 AUD which is $900usd

Bought the store display, without chain, oil cap, and one missing blade screw for $225. Wow! After completing home repair, it RIPS!
Great video. I own a 590 and I'm wanting to go to a 36" bar. What are the parts I need to make it run the best without porting it right away
For parts, always check the prices from SEPW Small Engine Parts Warehouse in (Wisconsin?)
I found them 8 or 10 months ago when looking for Shindaiwa and Echo parts...& they by far have the cheapest prices on every single part I've needed. cheaper than everybody else online by far, and they seem to simply price everything at 20% to 25% less than MSRP.
Cs620p Ignition Coil $66.51
Cs620 Carbeurator $72.88
I've have no connection to them, and couldn't care less where people buy their parts from.
I just like to pay as little as possible exorbitantly overpriced parts.
I guess part of the reason individual parts are so expensive, is the retailers tack on extra to cover the shelf space of parts in warehouses..Like a rental of space that the part took up, since it was manufactured I guess.
That's where I've been buying from. Yeah, about 20% cheaper.
Torquey! It's like the Cummins of chainsaws! Lol 🤣
Great video 💪🏿Showing that ECHO power
I would like to see a wack off with the 562 and the direwolf or a makita 6100
Great video Boedy. Congratulations on hitting 4000 subscribers.

Quick question. What does it take to make the Stihl bar’s work on an echo and will a husky bar fit? I currently run husky with 3/8 .050 on a 562 Xp. Thanks like all your videos so far!
Your saw running has gotten better sir!
Lol. Stihl guy excuses for the ported 2258. 😂 Just poking fun Mr lumberjack.
I dont know if you said it or not but were you running a full comp chain or skip tooth chain on the 590 with 36in bar
Full comp. He mentioned it in the comments of another video
Please explain what bar and chain you put on. I thought 24” was the biggest bar you could put on. I want to know how to add a 32”
I love you 620. I'm not into mods but there's nothing close to 30 inches in south Texas. My oldest echo is 20+ yes old.
im looking to get one myself because ive got a cs 400 right now and it runs like a beast. but id love to add a 590 in my collection
you could make some cool tables out of that slab.
I wish they would put a manual oil button on 590
Thanks for further showing me I didn't NEED my 660 clone😅 seriously though, love my CS-590 also with pretty basic mods. Typically run it with a 20" bar but it has no problems running a 27 or 28" whatever echo calls it bar when I need a little more reach!
For what it is...it does great!
I would worry about smoking that clutch with that big bar on it
No way the oiler is keeping up!!
He only did the one cut for this vid. He doesn’t run that big bar on it except this vid test.
At the price, best bang for your buck 100%. That 7310 is a bad mamba Jamba though. Run a 20" on 590 and pull the 7310 out when I need the 36".
It's alright all my friends get butt hurt when I walk em down the logs with my Timberwolf lol
Another great video I bought the husqvarna 460 but I still love it. I am going to get the 395 clone

I just found your channel and wow you put our some good stuff! Do you thing the 590 or even the 620 could handle light milling with 24 to 28 bar?
24, yes. 28...no. and you MUST have a muffler mod.
Boedy.....how well does the oiler do with a 36 in. bar?
Do a video on the echo 361p. Not many videos on that one
I'm actualy surprised that worked as well as it did!
How about a cs680 carb & coil?
The echo 600p same saw with a few up grades had stood the test of time outstanding the mac 610 are are some of the best 60cc saws ever made the thing with the mac it has a hand oiler to in my opinion a 60cc saw is the best all around fire wood cutting saw the longest bar I ever ran was a 28 but both saws pulled it well I have a 650 mac that is mint I know that
Thay are a factory hot rod but I hate to run it I ran my 310 stihl the other weekend and it's nice but not in the same class as the echo or mac
As much as I like my Echo 590, love my 572xp more when running a lightweight bar on it. Brings it to within half a pound of the 590 with the same length bar. Now for small stuff, say 10in and under, prefer my 550xp.
Kalau benar begitu saya ingin punya satu merk dari echo kaerana berkualitas tinggi..
I've just picked one up used for $200 on marketplace.
It pulled itself through
I've been a commercial cutter for 40 years 590 timberwolf is the best saw I've ever owned my crew won't use my sthils or huskys they all switched to echo
I love my 590!
Congrats on 4K
Put a 20" bar on it look out nice saw is that about = to the 362 stihl ? Good vid 👌 glad I found yer channel! I subscribed!
Try a Husqvarna 562 XP have a 28" bar and love it
Would like to see a review on the RIDGEWAY saw . Home depot sells them i believe . Nice looking saws
1 adet 4510 ve 2 adet cs 590 echo benzinli testerem var onlarla çok mutluyum

I really Wana port that saw now lol..runs good tho..
That's all is true my friend
Jonsereds from WHICH ERA??
I was so excited to hear you say that, because my very first saw, which I bought off of my Father in 1990, was a 1977 Jonsereds!!!👍💪💪😜
I know that they, like Husqvarna, ha e had ups and downs....which is why I'm curious....last I checked a few years ago, they were looking kinda cheaply made....but I'd love to hear news to the contrary....
They were really super high build quality back then.
what is the case made of?
what is the clutch cover made of?
plastic or a metal alloy?
Clutch cover is plastic, case is metal.
@@novicelumberjack Thank you - that is god to know :)
@@novicelumberjack thank you
Good saws, but you’re still not apples to apples on the 400 and Johnny Red bar for bar and chain. Be interesting to see a rematch when the 400 is broken in with the same bar & chain combo.
Fun content never the less!
Nice video. How does it oiler keep up on a 36"?
Don't know, and never will. Only did this one cut. This was only done for testing purposes. A 590 should not use a 36" bar on a regular basis.
I have a 600p (virtually same as 590 or 620) and have a 32" bar i run on it regularly. The saw pulls it fine because it's running skip chain. But it Does keep up oiling @ 32" despite Echo recommending a 27" bar max for the saw 💁♂️
Works a lot better than my 455 Husqvarna.
she has her hands full
I just got the same shirt today for my birthday lol
I run a 2 foot bar on my timberwolf. My dealer thought I was crazy, but Echo's website said it could be done 😂
And?
@@Icutmetal And what? She's still running several years later.
@@Pure_KodiakWILD_Power Congratulations
@Icutmetal Aww that's sweet. Thank you.
@@Pure_KodiakWILD_Power So you did something that the manual said you could do, and decided to share. Gold star for your major accomplishment.
Hmmm. I really need to break mine in. I've heard it from others. I am really looking forward to it happening.
