Great reaction Jamel as usual, brother. Truth is there are rabbit holes of great artists throughout the 60’s & 70’s. This is one of Neil’s best. He indeed has a lot of hits
The stories about how Diamond was inspired to write the song are apocryphal. "Crackling Rosé" is the name of an inexpensive sparkling wine once produced by Andres Wines of British Columbia, Canada, which was popular among the indigent population. One story suggests that Diamond heard a story about a native Canadian tribe while doing an interview in Toronto, Canada-the tribe had more men than women, so the lonely men of the tribe would sit around the fire and drink their wine together-which inspired him to write the song.
Love your diversity Jamel. Neil was my grandmas favorite man and i every time i hear him it brings a tear to my eye but you made me smile. Thank you for constant joy.

Neil Diamond did the complete musical score for the movie "Johnathan Livingston Seagull." His epic song in the movie is "BE." I believed he should of won the Oscar for that song. His album of the same name won the Grammy for best album of the year. There is a ton of music this man has written and perform, and many famous recording artist have covered over the years. The best pop song ever written! He wrote this when he was touring Canada, and there was an Indian village where there were 4 men for every woman. On the weekends the men that didn't have female companionship would buy a cheap wine called Cracklin Rose.

I can never hear this song without thinking of the wine. Once in a great while my parents would buy it for special occasions back in the '60's. I can still see the bottle. It was more oval shaped than a standard wine bottle and was made with little glass bumps on it to simulate the bubbles.
Same...we listened to Neil in the car all the time when I was a kid, and I just thought it was about a woman named Rosie! Loved pretty much all the songs, so I didn't really think about much beyond that. Plus, I was a kid (think I was somewhere between 7 and 12...for years, Neil was always on rotation!), so I reckon as I got older, I had a feeling "storebought woman" might have meant a lady of the night, and I didn't need to think much about that. 😂😂😂
Such a good human...you probably know that Sweet Caroline is a big song for Boston Red Sox fans & its always sung during the middle of the 8th innings. And the first game after the Boston marathon bombing, Neil Diamond turned up at Fenway Park unannounced & asked if he could sing Sweet Caroline for the city of Boston...no fanfare just flew up from NY & asked if it was OK that he sing.
I was privileged to see Mr Diamond on his 50th Anniversary tour. One of his last shows before he retired due to Parkinson disease. The man sounds BETTER in personthan on his recordings if you can imagine that.
This was a favorite song from my childhood. My mom is a HUGE Neil Diamond fan, so we grew up listening to him all the time! We are all still Neil Diamond fans all these decades later.
Married to a catchy and dynamic melody and arrangement, the lyrics suggested to some a devotion to a woman of the night:[2] Oh, I love my Rosie child - You got the way to make me happy. You and me, we go in style... Cracklin' Rose, you're a store bought woman But you make me sing like a guitar hummin' ... The stories about how Diamond was inspired to write the song are apocryphal. Listen to his song “Hell Yeah”.....it’s an extension of “I Am...I Said”......watch the video of when he does it live at Madison Square Garden to end his show.....flat out brilliant.
Neil Diamond has a lot of great songs! He's one of my favorite artists.
I can never hear this song without thinking of the wine. Once in a great while my parents would buy it for special occasions back in the '60's. I can still see the bottle. It was more oval shaped than a standard wine bottle and was made with little glass bumps on it to simulate the bubbles.
Happy Birthday to the #thegreatestsingersongwriterofalltime!!! Put your hands together for the One and Only #neildiamond
That never crossed my mind.... that Cracklin’ Rosie is a bottle of booze. 🤦🏻♀️
I know right. Never delved too much into it.....just loved the music and sang on too of my voice 🤷
Same, but I do feel a whole lot better about the line "Store bought woman", now. 🤣
This guy nailed it though. It’s about a bottle of wine. Crackling Rosé actually.
I thought she was a hooker.
My freshman year of high school at Our Lady of the Angels in Cincinnati we started each gym class warming up to Cracklin' Rosie! Loved Neil Diamond!
Brother Loves travelling salvation show!!!!!!
Hands down, my favorite Neil Diamond song.
I highly recommend his song "Cherry, Cherry."
I saw him in concert on New Years Eve in Houston sometime in the 80's. A great way to see in a New Year.
I always liked his “Brother Love’s Traveling Salvation Show.”
"Brother Love's Traveling Salvation Show" and "Solitary Man". Thank you
I was privileged to see Mr Diamond on his 50th Anniversary tour. One of his last shows before he retired due to Parkinson disease. The man sounds BETTER in personthan on his recordings if you can imagine that.
Great reaction Jamel, classic Neil Diamond song. Back in the day we'd call this bubble-gum rock, but now that I'm older, I actually like it.
This was a favorite song from my childhood. My mom is a HUGE Neil Diamond fan, so we grew up listening to him all the time! We are all still Neil Diamond fans all these decades later.
Married to a catchy and dynamic melody and arrangement, the lyrics suggested to some a devotion to a woman of the night:[2]
Oh, I love my Rosie child -
You got the way to make me happy.
You and me, we go in style...
Cracklin' Rose, you're a store bought woman
But you make me sing like a guitar hummin' ...
The stories about how Diamond was inspired to write the song are apocryphal. "Crackling Rosé" is the name of an inexpensive sparkling wine once produced by Andres Wines of British Columbia, Canada, which was popular among the indigent population. One story suggests that Diamond heard a story about a native Canadian tribe while doing an interview in Toronto, Canada-the tribe had more men than women, so the lonely men of the tribe would sit around the fire and drink their wine together-which inspired him to write the song.[2]
The song was about Cracklin Rose...a cheap wine
The name of the wine may have inspired the name, but I'd say it's definitely about a "store bought woman"... c'mon, it's Neil Diamond...
@@mr.knowitall6440 No. It's about a wine Paul Masson Cracklin' Rose
