You HAVE TO see his movie The Jazz Singer!!! Awesome movie, but the critics were so hard on him, he never did another movie again. Desi Arnez and Lawrence Olivier. Just a fantastic movie!
The Greatest song about a Dad!!! "The Leader of the Band"-Dan Fogelberg who left us in 2007.....Very meaningful song...you Will be touched....thankyou Jamel.....Paul
Omgosh yesssss oh yesssss!!! They are just so fire together, love them so much!!!!🥰💑 Also, I have to mention that absolute fire "Play Me" duet with Shirley Bassey will just....make u melt into a puddle of love..lol 🥰🥰🥰
Neil doesn't get the respect he deserves. The Jazz Singer has to be mentioned when talking about great soundtracks and is a solid remake. But his entire catalog should be shown more love. Thanks for reminding me of how good it is!!!!!
Music critics are often full of it. The general public usually likes anything that's really, really good if they get a chance to hear it. And the general public loves Neil Diamond. If I were him I'd have laughed at Rolling Stone giving all my albums two stars. Best selling albums. The absolute top concert draw in the U.S several years running! He got the love that matters.
This is from the remake of the Jazz Singer. The original was the first talkie ever, and this was remade with Neil as the lead and Sir Lawrence Olivier as his father.
Neil & I are star-crossed lovers, he doesn't know I exist. When I was single he was married, when I got married, he was single. Did I mention he doesn't know I exist?
Anything brother Neil Diamond does is great. Can you play his first big hit? Cherry Cherry.and Solitary Man. He’s got so many it would take all day. Thx
Yep, the movie is “the jazz singer” loosely based on Neil Diamond's real life. His parents wanted him to be a rabbi but he has dreams of being a famous singer, singing Secular songs. So it’s a struggle between his relationship with his father and mother and his life long dream.
Scott DeBerg Right, the single has an additional stanza that starts, "You need what you need, you can say what you want..." also Neil sang, "Gave you my heart" instead of "Gave me your heart" as be did here, ^man^ is this a song to sng along with when someone's just shredded your heart. 😫 ❤️
Yes it is from “The Jazz Singer” from which Neil Diamond starred with Lucy Arnaz and Sir Laurence Oliver. Good movie but panned by the critics. Neil never did another movie. He wrote the music for the movie.
It is a movie ! The jazz singer 1980 ! Great movie ! This scene is he was going to sell this song his lyrics to that Rock dude and Neal didn’t like how he was going to do it , so he asked if he could show guy , how he wrote it and show him how he wanted it and then of course the guy didn’t want to hear it so Neil took the song and did himself
You could keep busy with Neil; he has had hits over 6 decades. His voice reaches me in a way that no other singer’s does. You are right that he is an amazing story teller. ❤️
This is the official video version from the movie "The Jazz Singer", but it isn't the full, original version of the song that was released. You should listen to the entire song, it's a couple minutes longer. It has more lyrics, and he repeats the chorus again. "America" is another great song from "The Jazz Singer", and so is "Hello Again".
As everyone else has said, the film is "The Jazz Singer". Treat yourself and watch it sometime. It's well worth it. He has some great songs on it. The "Shitty Producer" at the end giving the ironic handclaps is Paul Nicholas who played the title role in the first stage version of "Jesus Christ Superstar."
It's a good movie re-make. When I got married we were at the bar and my maid of honor called out to the band lead "These two just got married, play them a song!" and this is what they played. Prophetic, actually; I divorced the guy, married him again a few years later (we had kids together) but sadly, love was on the rocks. I am SO GLAD to hear Neil Diamond, My first concert when I was 12, with my mom!
This clip is from the movie "The Jazz Singer'" It stars Neil Diamond, Lawrence Olivier and Lucy Arnaz. Many of his hits came from this movie...the ending song to this movie was one of his biggest hits "America."
Mr. Diamond is a wordsmith his songs tell amazing stories and you are drawn in. This song is so heartfelt and emotional. In the movie the "rock star" wanted it very upbeat, he objected and was tossed.
Neil Diamond wrote one of the most beautiful love songs ever called "Play Me." Give it a listen. Play it for your Mrs. and dance with her too it. Trust me. You'll be glad you did.
One of my many favs of Neil Diamond....my heart is touched with everything the man sings. I grew up on Neil and many memories of my family are wrapped around this wonderful mans songs and that voice. His voice is so peaceful and familiar. Family days out on the boat, camping, fishing, at home playing pool or just sitting around talking....Neil would be playing in the background. We all loved hearing him sing.. Memories flood back with certain songs. I can remember where I was and what I was doing with everyone. God bless ✌

You HAVE TO see his movie The Jazz Singer!!! Awesome movie, but the critics were so hard on him, he never did another movie again. Desi Arnez and Lawrence Olivier. Just a fantastic movie!
Music doesn't sound like this anymore, we need more male singers these days singing like this .
Neil was mesmerizing!❤❤❤
So true, no music like that anymore.
Taken from the movie The Jazz Singer, which he starred in.

Yes please. The actual live performance if possible.
Streisand’s voice is annoying af, her duets are fire though...
The live version Streisand voice is tops

Solitary man and I am I said are my favorite Neil Diamond songs he has written and sung so many great ones
Yes, the song that started it all and my favorite.

I guess it did, my eyes are wet...
You need to listen to “The Rose” by Bette Midler and “The Way We Were” by Barbra Streisand....two tear jerkers.....
Another tear jerker from Neil is "Morningside"
I listen to Van Morrison 90% Bette I shall be Released and Neil are my two ICONS
Both from movies. Both soundtracks are marvelous !

Neil and Barbara Streisand- You don’t bring me flowers!
As a child, this song was ABSOLUTELY mesmerizing!
Indeed. I was in seventh grade when I first heard it.
You can feel the pain and anguish in his words, this song is personal.

Neil Diamond-"PLAY ME" Wonderfully BEAUTIFUL ROMANTIC SONG!!
One of, if not my favorite songs by the Jewish Elvis! And "I Am, I Said."
Please react to "I Am, I Said"!! It is so powerfully moving. "Play Me" a close 2nd.
This is from the 3rd remake of the Jazz Singer done with Neil's music for the most part. Coming to America is the rousing ending.
Thanks for Neil Diamond- I love him...right behind Michael McDonald. Coming to America makes me cry & be happy at the same time! Love ya Jamel!
Neil & I are star-crossed lovers, he doesn't know I exist. When I was single he was married, when I got married, he was single. Did I mention he doesn't know I exist?
I feel the same way about Eric Clapton 😪
Ah, but Neil's life starts the day you came and ends the day you leave...😁
But are you single now? Cuz I am. Hello, again, hello....

There are two other hit songs from the Jazz Singer from 1980. They are "Hello Again" and "America".
He had never acted before he was so nervous but did a great job on the movie
He did great. There was only one moment where he looked like he was acting.
His acting was VERY underrated in that film.
Coming to America by Neil Diamond.
Forever in Blue Jeans,Red,Red wine,Beautiful Noise…sooo many more. Please react…Neil is amazing. From his movie Jazz Singer…you would love it!
The video was took from the movie "The Jazz Singer" , a star vehicle for him that is also a remake of the the movie of the same name.
