Did you all watch the original Shade Tree Mechanics? That was such a great show for a young gear head to watch. Coincidentally it was also filmed in Knoxville TN, just 2 miles away from the house I grew up in. So I may be a little biased
Wow. What a memory trip... Watching Stacey and Two Guy's Garage with my dad. I'd give anything to watch one more episode with him. We didn't know how good we had it.
There is no doubt shows like this are the catalyst many years ago, for so much of the UA-cam channels we enjoy today. Some great nostalgia, and more proof that the folks at Banks, really know their stuff.
People rag on banks stuff saying it doesnt make the power of others, but they never mention how many engines and vp failures they have went through. Cummins is great because its reliable, I want the same in performance. If its not reliable it's not worth it. Dont think about yourself think about what you pass down to your kids. Reliable performance or alittle faster and on jack stands every month?
Had a 2001 in the same colour and sold it with 463k. Had a BD turbo, inlet and manifold, 5” mbrp full catless exhaust, airaid intake and 100hp tune with 100hp injectors. It pulled probably similar numbers to this and it would just cruise on the highway without effort. I got over 20mpg average. Swear to god though, that truck was rough riding and gave me whiplash at least twice lol.
@@devengudinas1649 I know still I have seen these trucks after a engine over haul and you don’t smell or see any black smoke yet that have to put a dpi on a new diesel
Those were the good old days. My dad had a 2000 3500 that we put a 5" exhaust on with no muffler. Truck sounded great. He sold it but time to time I still see it driving around the area. I'm still holding on to my 2007 pre-emissions diesel.
If you looked the video at the 30 seconds for a few seconds there is on the right top coner a bank link that's where you choose what kit will fit better for your truck
Penitrating oil will eat rubber hangers and bushing not help them I’ve been a mechanic for 20 years seen some real rusty shit bucks I’ve never seen a rubber exhaust hanger that needed replaced just saying
Both the Super Turbo (Monster Truck Engine) and the L5P for “Killing a Duramax” on hold for an extended duration while we conduct testing for our military program in Dyno Cell # 1 & #2. The moment these projects are completed, we’ll roll both the Super Turbo and the Killing a Duramax back into the dyno cells.
aww man the good old days of saturday morning car shows. I miss learning stuff from Stacey. He was one of my favorite presenters they ever had
This...most kids wanted the Sunday cartoons I couldn't WAIT for power block

Agreed. Stacey was my favorite host. I enjoyed his Gearz show also.
Me Too
I forgot about this show! I used to watch this in the morning when I was a kid!

Back when learning was learning and it awesome! Learnt so much from watching Trucks as a kid
Man. That hits.
"you might have noticed we didnt use catalytic converter, its because its diesel, we dont need one".
😀
These guys always make an all day job look like 30 minutes
Remember watching this as a kid on Saturday mornings, always looked forward to it.

I used to love watching truck on spike tv back in the day
Yup, Spike TV was the best.
Jan 2022,I will take 2 of those trucks, cash... Now
I know right.
I have a 2002 dually that is still bone stock, never did a programmer on it, about 185,000 miles.

Had a Banks kit on my 1987 Crew Cab F350 Powerstroke. It was a must have that made the thing driveable.
Too bad those kits aren't still available through Banks.

Notice how there’s not much black smoke after they did the MOD yet these newer diesels have a DPF
The banks secret 🤫
@@devengudinas1649 I know still I have seen these trucks after a engine over haul and you don’t smell or see any black smoke yet that have to put a dpi on a new diesel
My flicking DPF is cracked and it’s $3500 or something for a new one. Luckily it passes smog anyway. POS has cost me a fortune
Bolt on the turbo *after you remove your rag*
I thought the same thing.

Wow, a wonderful classic with Stacey… one of the awesome car/performance shows I used to look forward to every Sunday morning
The exhaust comes out of the manifold carry that nice red rag into the turbine housing. Dont forget to remove the red rag.
I noticed that too!!!
After the 30 seconds on the right top coner it shows the bank kit link if anyone needs it
If only we could go back and buy a fleet of mint 2nd gens
If only.
Wonder whatever happened to that rig…
I want that old school intake horn for my 02 cummins I like it
180hp. Oh how times have changed.
Vote up, keep it up, thank you for sharing it :)
Wouldn’t you stomp on the diesel?
That gosh darn pesky stock intake horn that regularly makes 2k hp today.
Back when it was actually cool to modify a diesel. The EPA would shit their pants if you did anything like this to a diesel in the last 15 years lol
The one they just did on the show probably is still legit. My 2009 Ram can’t be messed with much.
Having changed plenty of Duramax turbos and injectors, I'll admit, doing those on a Cummins is much easier.
How much are the parts for the Banks deal?
If you looked the video at the 30 seconds for a few seconds there is on the right top coner a bank link that's where you choose what kit will fit better for your truck
Nice to go back and not have a cat or emissions...
Anyone else notice how rusty it was and it's new ha. love the power gains. wish I had a use for a diesel. Banks would get all my money
First thing I noticed as well xD
Every new trucks axle shafts rust if you live up north even before they get sold off the lot
Wonder why that truck tested so low stock, should have put out 235hp stock
That’s at the crank every new truck or car you buy the hp rating is from the crank not the wheels parasitic loss
Simpler times...
1997 7.3 please?
Where is all the rust.
🔥
I wanna see a video on the old ShapeShifter. 👀👀👀👀
imagine a kit nowdays that would require a turbo disassembly
This generation would 😭😭
These guys seemed like trustworthy used car salesmen. They had fun i bet playing

When we going to see killing a durmax resume?

Brand new dodge ram, shows 20 year old truck ☹️
