I would just like to add that speaking to Hashem in our own words, in our everyday language goes very far in bringing us into a closer relationship with Him and by extension increasing our kavanah while davening - at least, that has been my experience. I take approx 1/2 hour everyday in a sincere talk with Hashem - thanking Him for all that He has given me, looking honestly into myself for self improvement (with Hashem's help, of course) and then asking HIm for His help with various things. All of this courtesy of Rabbi Arush. Chabad is great, but missing this valuable piece of advice, I believe.
