I think this fails to really address what a religion is. Absolutely on point on belief, but the legitimate reason why people don't believe in HaShem is that HaShem doesn't work on command. When people say they "believe" in science, they're just trying to say "we accept scientific findings as reliable", the semantics game only works if you assume people think that deeply into what words they use and what they describe. So the thing these people want addressed is something that they actually can only address for themselves. It's not the angle to look at this from if we're in any sort of "solution-focused" approach...

The Bet (looks like a squared off C for those who don't know) means that we are not to look back, look up, look down, and only to look forward. Thus the Earth was here way long before G-d made us. Curious what you think of that.

Rabbi's should not try to go outside their expertise, certainly hearing a Rabbi practically say "The Torah IS a history book" is something no serious student of Judaism should come close to hearing. Playing lingustic games and semantics will not help, especially among people who see these from a mile away. The truth is these conversations will take at least an hour to really explain, and these methods won't make more Ben Shapiros... they'll make the people Ben rips apart. After oct 7, there's been so many of these videos popping out of nowhere on my UA-cam, I've always been curious about judaism and what they believe. Now I see why they act and move as a group a certain way. They have no accountability, and they don't believe that even God can hold them accountable. They have corrupted the scripture. I am more affrim in my religion, which guides me in this world and holds me accountable to God for every action.

He has his way of sharing the information. He is definitely not confused. It's his way of talking.
      He is extremely knowledgeable.
      In terms of accountability.
You make a huge assumption from one discussion.
G-d says chose life by keeping my laws etc, its not otherwise you will go to he'll. It's a relationship. He is considered a creator, our king , our father.
We behave in this manner. But all people are different.
Just as a father punishes his kid for doing something "naughty" a good father does this for his own good.
Just as a king gets to make the law and we have to obey, or we die..
It's more about the reverence we supposed to have ,not the death.
Just as a creator creates something new.
We constantly remind ourselves without G-d we are nothing and don't exist.
If that is not accountability. Then what is

    • @IDuke2829
      @IDuke2829 25 днів тому

@cls5355 you make no sense , just a bunch of word salad. Whether we obey or not, we will die. Yes, God is the creator. What are you saying that's new. You sound more confused than him.
It is simple. We are here temporarily. We have a choice to obey God or not. Thise who obey God go to heaven, those who don't go to hell. That is accountability, knowing that you
Will be questioned by God for every action. You can accept it or not, but that will not change reality.

What should we say Avraham, our forefather, obtained by his own efforts? For if Avraham came to be considered righteous by God because of legalistic observances, then he has something to boast about. But this is not how it is before God! For what does the Tanakh say? “Avraham put his trust in God, and it was credited to his account as righteousness.”
Now the account of someone who is working is credited not on the ground of grace but on the ground of what is owed him. However, in the case of one who is not working but rather is trusting in him who makes ungodly people righteous, his trust is credited to him as righteousness.
In the same way, the blessing which David pronounces is on those whom God credits with righteousness apart from legalistic observances:
“Blessed are those whose transgressions are forgiven,
    whose sins are covered over.
Blessed is the man whose sin Adonai
will not reckon against his account.”
Now is this blessing for the circumcised only? Or is it also for the uncircumcised? For we say that Avraham’s trust was credited to his account as righteousness; but what state was he in when it was so credited - circumcision or uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision! In fact, he received circumcision as a sign, as a seal of the righteousness he had been credited with on the ground of the trust he had while he was still uncircumcised. This happened so that he could be the father of every uncircumcised person who trusts and thus has righteousness credited to him, and at the same time be the father of every circumcised person who not only has had a b’rit-milah, but also follows in the footsteps of the trust which Avraham avinu had when he was still uncircumcised.
For the promise to Avraham and his “seed’’ that he would inherit the world did not come through legalism but through the righteousness that trust produces. For if the heirs are produced by legalism, then trust is pointless and the promise worthless… The reason the promise is based on trusting is so that it may come as God’s free gift, a promise that can be relied on by all the seed, not only those who live within the framework of the Torah, but also those with the kind of trust Avraham had - Avraham avinu for all of us. This accords with the Tanakh, where it says, “I have appointed you to be a father to many nations.”
Avraham is our father in God’s sight because he trusted God as the one who gives life to the dead and calls nonexistent things into existence. For he was past hope, yet in hope he trusted that he would indeed become a father to many nations, in keeping with what he had been told, “So many will your seed be.”
His trust did not waver when he considered his own body - which was as good as dead, since he was about a hundred years old - or when he considered that Sarah’s womb was dead too. He did not by lack of trust decide against God’s promises. On the contrary, by trust he was given power as he gave glory to God, for he was fully convinced that what God had promised he could also accomplish. This is why it was credited to his account as righteousness.
But the words, “it was credited to his account . . . ,” were not written for him only. They were written also for us, who will certainly have our account credited too, because we have trusted in him who raised Yeshua our Lord from the dead - Yeshua, who was delivered over to death because of our offences and raised to life in order to make us righteous. (Romans chapter 4; Emissary Sha’ul)

On this subject, I heartily recommend a track I discovered by accident (it appeared in my 'recommended' feed) by a British band called UNIT. The track is A Tribute To The Israeli Defence Force and it is excellent - tuneful and forceful without being bombastic combined with a lovely lyric. I know next to nothing about the group but on investigation I see they've recorded a whole batch of Jewish related tracks such as Pesach, Yom Kippur, Bar Mitzvah, Israel Is Real, The 613 Mitzvot and probably others I don’t know about yet. Some of them feature Rabbi Moshe Bryski which is definitely a recommendation in itself.

If Judiasm is not a religion or a belief system then what is it? He says it's a way of thinking based on "facts", on "truth"? The rabbi says that the Torah is the truth. Isn't that a belief? He says the ancient Jews stood in front of Har Sinai and this is a fact, not a belief. Gd created a mature world. How does he "know" these things? How does that make any sense when our empirical senses and our logical brain tell us something else? Science and Judiasm can go hand in hand and the six days can be six time periods. Why pit one against the other? We perceive reality through our limited human perspective.

The missing link in evolution is very problematic, other than that my father was a very big supporter of the sciences and he had smicha from Rav Moshe Feinstein. I’m not sure where Manis Friendman got his smicha but I’m sure the rebbe is crying right now. Someone should speak to rabbi Abraham Shem tov. This man is spreading heresy.

You defined a religion as “a set of beliefs”, and say that Judaism isn’t a religion because it’s about doing what G-d says. But if you don’t believe G-d said to do those things why are you doing them? If you actually reject the existence of G-d and you reject that G-d gave certain commands, would you follow his commands? I think not. You say, G-d is coming down and that he needs us to do certain things. Do you believe that? If so, isn’t that part of a set of beliefs? If not, why try to live like you do believe it?

    • @zeveisenberger6605

Because it’s not a belief that he said those things it’s known that he came down at Sinai and said gave us those commandments as he said in the video everything in Judaism can be known, so it can be known that g-d came down to Sinai and gave us these commandments it’s not a belief that he gave them to us

    • @ianmartinesq
      @ianmartinesq 3 місяці тому

@@zeveisenberger6605 That seems to me to be mere semantics. The Sinai encounter can’t been proven empirically and the good rabbi acknowledges in the video that he wouldn’t know how to substantiate it. He just says that it can be known because it happened. But he doesn’t really *know* that. He believes that. I’m sure a Buddhist would point out that altered states of mind that Buddhism offers can be detected on MRI. Christians would say the resurrection happened and is therefore knowable. Hindus claim various miracles took place and therefore should be knowable.
There are critical historians who deny that the encounter at Sinai ever took place. I wasn’t there. Nor is there hard proof. So, I don’t *know* it. I do believe it. Nor can we really say we *know* that the Torah is from G-d. That can’t be proved evidentially. You can’t even postulate it as a thing that could be *known* unless you first prove the existence of G-d, which he did not do in this sitting.

Richard Elliot Friedman, who is a Jew and taught at the Jewish Theological Seminary, wrote, “Who Wrote the Bible?” That book expounds the documentary hypothesis. It calls into question the traditional authorship of the Tanach. If a Jew can call into question the origin of the documentary evidence in support of a historical claim about the Bronze Age, to what extent can we say that the historical claim is “known”?

Jesus is the man who came down from heaven as the Word of God to preach the good news of forgiveness of sins by his sacrifice on the cross and the resurrection. Jesus mission was not to bring sinners to heaven as spirits, but for the bodily resurrection of believers, the reconatitution of Eden and for God to return to Eden with Jerusalem as his home ✝️

I am shocked that, once again, ideologues are confusing Hindu concepts with their own. The last time a westerner attempted such etymological mind jitsu with a Hindu concept, the word was "Aryan". Ultimately, though, this Rabbi fails in his own analysis because Abraham's name was not Abraham until late in his life, but Abram cannot be contorted in Brahmin. In his opening remark, this Rabbi proclaims proudly he never recieved a higher education. It's never too late, Rabbi. May I suggest studying linguistics?
