I am not Jewish and I'm middle aged now but most of my working life since leaving college I have been working for Jewish companies - in two cases as the only Gentile - in my first ever job aged 18. I learned alot about the Jewish personality and have had a soft spot for Jewish people ever since. Thank you for this , fascinating!
Brilliant!I really enjoyed this talk! I didn't know that Esau was considered the father of the Christian church. That was a new one to me. As a Christian I'm a little insulted to be honest. We are materialistic? Money oriented? Many Christians may be that way, but Jesus certainly wasn't. Though I haven't really seen that tendency in my little neck of the woods. As far as the Jewish people are concerned, I have always loved you. Only through you have I known God. For that I am eternally grateful. I enjoyed this teaching, thank you!
We're nothing of Esau's. Rabbinical Jews don't understand the Old Testament, don't worry what they have to say. Pray for their salvation, and leave it at that.
This whole conservation is based on Esau being the Father of Christianity. That is wrong teaching of the Jewish Rabbis. They have no scripture for that statement. The father of Christians is Abraham.
Besides Isaac by Sarah and Ishmael by Hagar, Genesis 25 mentions the names of Abraham's other six children by Keturah. Why are they often not talked about?
This man IS brilliant! I so enjoyed listening to him and, could listen for hours. How does one mind hold so much information with quotes no less. ❤ Thank you for a wonderful program. Very informative and insightful.
Excellent discussion! We read the weekly portion, and have read Torah many times, but Rabbi Spiro gave us some new food for thought! For example, I did not know Esau was also the progenitor for Rome as well. My husband was already subscribed, but we listened to it together this afternoon, and now I'm a subscriber too! Thank you!
Thank you for sharing this conversation. It was very good. I humbly submit that Yeshua’s ancestry traces back to King David. Yeshua was Jewish, is Jewish and will return Jewish. He never started a new religion. His love for his brethren is forever. When Mashiach arrives many will ask, is this your first or second time? His followers were Jewish. It was after his death when his words were intentionally shared with the gentiles. The Rabbi in this video is sharing his understanding and he is an intelligent and good man, whether one agrees with him or not. Until the Mashiach arrives let believers in Yeshua remember we all worship the G-d of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. We are mishpocha. Shalom 🙏🏻
Agar was a princesse 😮 In my bible it is written she was a slave from Sarah..... I never heard that being a believer and reading the bible since 37 years !
Yes. You are right. She was Sarahs servent. How could come an agypt Prinzessin come near to Sarah and her husband ??? And how could she accept becoming pregnant by Abram ? If she would had been a princess, she would never have accepted beeing send away pregnent in the dessert? Unpossible.
While some traditions suggest that Hagar may have had a noble background, her primary role in the biblical narrative is that of a maidservant to Sarah. Her son Ishmael, however, is given a significant status by virtue of being Abraham’s son and the recipient of God’s promise to become a great nation.
@@jillcarrero2683 🕊️ Midrashic and Islamic Traditions: Some Jewish midrashic texts and Islamic traditions suggest that Hagar might have been of royal descent, possibly a princess or noblewoman from Egypt. These traditions hold that she was given to Sarah and Abraham by the Pharaoh of Egypt when they were in Egypt. However, these traditions are not explicitly stated in the biblical text and are later interpretations or expansions on the story.
Love Rabbi Ken Spiro! I listened to his crash course in Jewish History several times! Also have his book World Perfect. Brilliant! I would add to the indicators that we're nearing the final redemption the fact that we are living in a time when technology has given basically everyone the tool to see what's happening - as it is written that 'the whole world will see....'
Bravo 👏 his ideas on antisemitism explain the real meaning of what being chosen people really means. Jews have a role in the moral progression of humanity, the others just followed. I don’t mean they’re perfect, but for sure they’re the first people that brought light to the world. Human history just proves that
Jews are to be a light (Torah) unto the nations. It's a problem when many Jews aren't keeping Torah and for sure, unless it's the Noahides, the nations are either misled or too secular.
They were given that role first but they failed to do it. How come a God's Chosen people that was bestow with guidance, miracle and the only nation that had tasted food in heaven can be so weak in their faith. Less than 40 days, Moses was away meeting God, they were astrayed worshipping a golden calf. How can that be? That's why the role was passed to the Arabs.
@@anaskpalmalaki8804 If God picked them, there was a reason. It’s a great shame to say that God choices can be wrong. Secondly, if you look at the arab/muslim world, as of today is the nation that walked more astray from G-d paths. Enabling the marriage of children, lapidation of woman, all the violence, is a way of thinking that was born from people living in the desert more than 3000 years ago and that way of thinking is not meant to stay in a Godly World

Correction: 1)Muslims circumcise their sons within the first week(there is no time limit when one can circumcise) 2)Quran mentions to protect our prayers 3 times a day, morning, midday, night(although midday has 2 prayers & night has 2 prayers according to Hadith) 3)we bow down in prayer same as do the Jews 4)Muslims were first ordered to pray towards Jerusalem then later order came to change direction towards Mecca
Then you probably don't know he had a third wife either, that'll say when Sarah was dead (long after sending Hagar away), he married Ketura and got six? sons with her.
@childofgod4862 , For proper understanding of chapter 53 , begin at Chapter 52:13 "Behold, My servant will prosper." You are trying to read what you believe into one verse or passage. Read previous chapters for context. Who is the suffering servant ? , there are explicit mentions of who this is in Chapters , 41, 42, 44, 45, 48 and 49 and implicit ones as well.
@@rstkmumo My friend, Israel is also called servant of God So is Jesus! in same book chapter 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. Now what is the difference young woman shall conceive. and Virgin shall conceive? When a virgin conceives, she no longer a virgin! And his name Immanuel means God with us Now it says > Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign. So virgin getting pregnant is that sign. Correct?
A good and fascinating conversation, but nothing is normal in Israel now. We are still in a bad and difficult war, soldiers are falling and the situation in the north is getting worse while the situation in the south is not getting better.. The only thing that will save us is Moshiach.
Hagar was from a noble family, but not a princess, but she joined Abraham as a servant for Sarah and later became his concubine, which was like a wife at that time! She, Hagar was also a small prophet by Torah!
As Christian we pray in a relationship, as with our creator (Farther). We talk to Him with the spirit in us, any time of the day. Wherever we are. When we ask Jesus to help us making a decision and what way to go, He answer us true the Bible or any other way, like in a dream. Only believing truthfully and growing closer to the Lord, you have this fantastic relationship. Your change totally to a person who do not want to search anything else. You only want to talk about the truth. When you accept Jesus Christ in your heart and the holy spirit come in you. You cannot wait just to learn more from Him and want to know more. You immediately understand the truth of everything. All that you did not know. Now you do. Praise God. 💗🙏

Not Jewish but am a supporter of what I call the Jewish story. I wish more people understood what he is saying at 42:13. It makes me sad when I've met Jews in the past who scoff at this. Makes me sadder when I hear non-Jews who know nothing about Judaism use the term "chosen" to attack the Jews for thinking they are superior. It is not at all that. Also, more people in the west need to hear what he is saying about a nation targeting and going after Jews openly - it is a SIGN of bad things to come for that society. History shows this but people are slow to learn. This is a great video, thanks for posting. Wish people would listen but my prediction is the west will learn too late.
What I believe is missing in this conversation is not mentioning the unifying factor ; the saviing grace of God almighty by the sacrificial death on cross of Jesus Christ.
Quora : “Rabbinical commentators asserted that Hagar was Pharaoh's daughter. The midrash Genesis Rabbah states it was when Sarah was in Pharaoh's harem that he gave her his daughter Hagar as servant, saying: "It is better that my daughter should be a servant in the house of such a woman than mistress in another house". Sarah treated Hagar well, and induced women who came to visit her to visit Hagar also. However Hagar, when pregnant by Abraham, began to act superciliously toward Sarah, provoking the latter to treat her hShe is a revered woman in the Islamic faith”
I am a Christian and strongly agree with Ken. I love Israel and the Jewish people, and stand by Israel in her hour of distress. I feel tremendous pain for the the hostages and every fallen IDF soldiers. I believe that Israel is fighting not only for her survival, but for that of the free world and every democratic nation on the earth. We as Christian owe our very existence to the Jews, but when I say this to people in Roman Catholic circles in my part of the world, they look at me as though I am out of my mind. I live in a democratic country, where we take freedom for granted, and this is a Hindu majority country, yet when I read the constitution and the laws of the land - morality and justice, they all seem to be coming directly from the Torah. Western societies are built on Judeo-Christian values, and it is this value system that makes these countries the destination and choicest places to immigrate to, yet I see westerns seeking to destroy and working against their own foundations.... Why? I am truly confused with what I see on TV.
I am a Christian but I am very pro Israel and the Jewish people. I believe that those who stand with Israel will be blessed and those who stand against Israel will be cursed. So please know that my question does not come with an anti-semitic tone... Do you find it interesting that a Jew receives their inheritance from their father but receives their heritage from their mother? This means that King David received a gentile inheritance but a Jewish heritage. Therefore King David was both gentile and Jew which makes sense to me as a Christian since Jesus comes from David's lineage. Through David who was both gentile and Jew, G-d produced salvation for the whole world. Boaz's mother was Rahab (Canaanite) Boaz married Ruth (Moabite) Boaz and Ruth gave birth to Obed. Therefore, Obed was fully gentile. Obed is father of Jesse, who is father of David.
I appreciate your response! Ruth was a Moabitess that converted to Judaism. "My people will be your people, My G-d will be your G-d". G-d's grace is truly amazing, how He orchestrates events to draw all nations back to Him. Abraham and his lineage (the chosen people) were chosen for a purpose. That purpose is described to Abraham in Genesis. Paraphrase: "Through you, Abraham, ALL the nations will be blessed". As a Christian, I believe that purpose is fulfilled through Messiah, Jesus Christ. And we owe a debt of gratitude and honor towards the Jewish people for being that instrument of G-d's purpose.
Brilliant. I love it. I am a Christian and believe Rabbi Spiro is on the money. Christians I know, and are in my life circle Love the Jewish People, and see them just as Rabbi Spiro described (the educated ones, that is). I have read three of Rabbi’s books, and they are superb. I want to go to his web site to see what else I can learn. Of course I believe in Jesus Christ as the ultimate sacrifice to God and requires our faith, but I do not find anything Rabbi Spiro says that actually contradicts Christianity. Christianity, I believe, did not replace Judaism…it grew out of it, but Judaism still stayed, and as Paul says in Book of Romans, “the Jews will be saved”. I love them.
Do you know what he meant by, "If the Jews will not make kiddush, the non-Jews will make havdalah."? I understand the Kiddush part; its the havdalah part I don't understand.
Not sure if I understood it correctly, but it seems he said that Jewish tradition holds that Christianity came down the line of Esau? The Bible teaches that Jesus was a descendant of Jacob.
@@cohenlabe1 This is such nonsense. Romans have no connection to Edom or Esau in the Bible, except that they were oppressive enemies of Israel for a time. Christianity is a Messianic sect of Second Temple Judaism that opened its doors to gentiles. Jesus brought the Romans to worship at the altar of the God of Israel, even after they crucified Him. That you see Esau in this is both disgusting and astonishing.
@@sechrima9998Christianity moved north into Europe, historically, & was never wide spread in the middle east. FWIW, it's a new age saying that "Christ never met a Christian & Buddha never met a Buddhist.". In the case of Buddha the religion moved east from India. Both religions took root & spread far from the region where their first followers appeared, historically.
@@brynawaldman5790 Christianity was very widespread in the Middle East before Islam started. All of North Africa and the Levant were under Christian rule until then. I found it interesting when Yaakov asked about the beginning of Christianity that Rabbi Ken Spiro went on to speak about the Catholic Church, without mentioning the Messiah, Saviour and Lord, Jesus. I would love to hear Rabbi Ken Spiro explain how he understands Isaiah 52:13-53:12. I would also like to know how he explains the prophetic words of the Prophet Zechariah in the book Zechariah 12:9-11. 9 And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem. 10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn. 11 In that day shall there be a great mourning in Jerusalem, as the mourning of Hadadrimmon in the valley of Megiddon.

Thanks for pointing me towards Rabbi Tovia Singer 💐
Yes, he is brilliant. Thank you for having him on your show.
Great to see Ken's natural energy and humor once again. A real treat. Brilliant.
Yes I was engrossed in the Rabbi’s perspective and subscribed both here and on his channel

I am signing up to his podcast! What a brilliant interview. Thank you!
This was a Phenomenol conversation!!! God bless you, Rabbi Spiro🇮🇱🇺🇸
Rabbi Spiro's teaching is engaging and has humanized our biblical ancestors. Thank you, Rabbi. These relatives became palpable enough for me to begin to accept today's world as it is: mashugana.
But still, I wonder how HaShem puts up with us.We take a long time to learn. But then again, He sets the bar pretty high.

Brilliant. Thank you for spreading light. Shalom! 💙🇮🇱
As Christians we have a love of Israel given us by God
Brilliant. Agree with everything Mr. Spiro said? It made sense I’ll give him that 👍
Rabbi.
Bless you for having the rabbi as guest. I learned much.
Lovely, we need this kind of people in this antagonist world. Good I like this man
too much bias and mistakes
I enjoyed this teaching, thank you!
yes ...that's a lot of crap
We're nothing of Esau's. Rabbinical Jews don't understand the Old Testament, don't worry what they have to say. Pray for their salvation, and leave it at that.
This whole conservation is based on Esau being the Father of Christianity. That is wrong teaching of the Jewish Rabbis. They have no scripture for that statement. The father of Christians is Abraham.
@@benny-yj7pq He speaks so much nonsense, so ignorant but also spreading ignorance.
Jesus was a Jew, a very exceptional rabbi, with a special charisma.
Besides Isaac by Sarah and Ishmael by Hagar, Genesis 25 mentions the names of Abraham's other six children by Keturah. Why are they often not talked about?
Do a vlog on them ❤
A good layout of this slice of history 👍
I admire Rabbi Spiro. He is one of the most interesting rabbis I have ever learned from. This was BRILLIANT!!!!!

Now that I know he has a podcast, I can listen to him for hours. 😉
Shalom 🙏🏻

Agar was a princesse 😮
In my bible it is written she was a slave from Sarah.....
Unpossible.
Says the same in my Bible.
Yes we see she was a servant, so it would be interesting to see this man's explanation.... He did a Lot of travel, so maybe she was a gift?
So happy to see this. Just finished one of his books the other day.

Rabbi Spiro is amazing, met him at a dinner in South Africa some months ago, was brilliant!
brilliant🎉 so many golden nuggets of wisdom in this interview. I will be sharing this far and wide.
This has been such an enormous comfort to me. Thank you both so much.

1)Muslims circumcise their sons within the first week(there is no time limit when one can circumcise)
2)Quran mentions to protect our prayers 3 times a day, morning, midday, night(although midday has 2 prayers & night has 2 prayers according to Hadith)
3)we bow down in prayer same as do the Jews
4)Muslims were first ordered to pray towards Jerusalem then later order came to change direction towards Mecca

No mention of Jesus in an analysis of Christianity. That's a first. 🤔
Right, and then the Esau and Christian connection SMH. Esau became a pagan Roman, an apostate who rebelled against the Torah.
He is being politically correct. You don’t want to know what he thinks of Jesus.
If you were a Jew did any of your Rabbi teach upon Isaiah 53? And why it is called prohibited chapter to read?
And his name Immanuel means God with us
Now it says > Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign. So virgin getting pregnant is that sign. Correct?

Now you do. Praise God. 💗🙏
May God bless you!

Thank you so much for great informative interview 🙏❤️
I would love to sit across a table and have a long conversation with Ken.
BRILLANT. A pleasure to listen. ❤
Solid Gold. Loved every minute of this lesson. Thank you.
What I believe is missing in this conversation is not mentioning the unifying factor ; the saviing grace of God almighty by the sacrificial death on cross of Jesus Christ.

Where are these values on the torah?? These democratic values seems to be more of secular values not so called Judea Christian values
Boaz's mother was Rahab (Canaanite)
Boaz married Ruth (Moabite)
Boaz and Ruth gave birth to Obed.
BRILLIANT!
Christianity is Rome Italians are the descendants of esiv that is what he is talking about jesus never practiced Christiananity
