Dang it. I believe it's quality control. I got the exact same insert and the flame on mine is small like your other two lighters. I prefer, and wished for the larger flame like you got. Great review!😊 And side note, I'd happily trade inserts with you some time if you'd like😆👍
Great comparison. I tend to adjust my butane lighters a bit higher than you, but not like that Zippo. I love my Zippo with the pipe insert, and will probably still try the butane, but now I’m forewarned.

I've heard others have more reasonable flame sizes. Mine must have been a fluke

It's a good lighter for sure! Fairly wind resistant as far as butane lighters go
It is so awkward to only hold your large pipe by the stem!
