cutlery lover.. I swear to you.. The best lighter I own is a Zippo I won from you a couple years ago. I won a bit-o-luck Zippo from you.. I still use it everyday of my life too. very cool knowing that you gave it to me :D.. cheers bro.. I've been a sub of yours forever! you were one of the first people i ever subbed to.
Hey Jeff I hope the weight loss is going well .I've been bindging a lot of your old videos and it's really bringing me back to 8 years ago.I can't believe the first video I watched was an mtec review. I started watching your videos as a kid in a red racecar bed and now I'm graduating this week .Time really flys. Thank you for not a single uninteresting video
You are such an inspirational man Jeff if I can call you by your name. You give us all great videos we watch they all are amazing just as you. Hope you had a great day today and same with your family. Stay great! :)
I have also been watching you since I was under ten. I remember being obsessed with butterfly knives and begging my dad to order me one, now i have a collection of over 10. I turn 20 on the 24th, so i have been watching you for about 8 years. :)
My favorite kind of lighters are the old classy type of lighters, whether it be a Zippo or a WW2 era clicker type of lighter. Not always the best in terms of reliability, but makes you feel like a classy man
I just carry a black Bic with the child safety pryed off. I don't smoke but use it for the occasional candle, firework, torch, string on a shirt, and I might use it the most for just burning paracord. Also on some occasions I can be useful when a coworker asks if anyone has a lighter they can borrow for a smoke break.
I don’t support disposable plastic things cause they’re horrible for the planet, if this bic lighter you’re referring to is one of those disposable ones then I wouldn’t use it...
Hey I love your content and I don’t understand why you don’t have 1 million subscribers yet but don’t let that stop you because you are the highlight of the day and got me into knives even more thank you for doing this
I own a Zippo Abyss lighter but I don't usually EDC it. I got it for collectibles sake and never owned a Zippo before. If I am carrying a lighter it is normally just a cheap Bic. I do like the idea of carrying instant fire with me in case I end up in a situation where I happen to need one.
I have had that vector lighter for 5 years now and one of the two return spring for the burner doors has failed and the second one is not far behind. I guess 5 years of use, that might be expected, but just something to keep in mind, the mechanism is prone to increased failure. That being said however, the burners all still work and it still lights great. Another great video, Jeff!
Don't carry a zippo cause legally not allowed to buy lighter fluid where i live but Ido have a butane lighter shape of a bullet with the flame coming from the bottom(a little panel that when pulled lights the flame)
Enjoyed your video. A well maintained Zippo will never let you down. I have a few of them, but don't use them everyday as I find the smell of the fuel makes me ill. I was using a no-name plastic torch lighter that was really good - refillable, slim, easy to use - but it stopped producing a spark after about 5 years, and I don't see any available anywhere. Bought a "superfuel" torch lighter at the dollar store - supreme waste of a dollar! Just got a Zico (original) single torch lighter and I'm quite happy with it so far - quite elegant looking and produces a good flame as long as it's not set too low or too high.
I just purchased my first Zippo lighter two days ago. My father started using a Zippo back in the 60’s, I will never forget the click of the lid after he lit his cigs.
Hey Jeff, I personally EDC a Numyth Tohil lighter. Great little piece of gear, because of its design it's waterproof and doesn't loose fluid! Not the best for cigars but a great option for always having a reliable flame!
The biggest problem I have with Zippos is that in the wind the flame just flies everywhere. I smoke cigarettes and I'm trying to chase the flame, and with long hair I end up singing it at least once or twice a week. I own a couple of Zippos and I'm really thinking about getting the butane insert so I can enjoy my Zippos without hassle.
I know this is an older video of yours, just looking for a good pipe lighter and thought I'd watch it again. I bought a xicar like the one in the top right and i absolutely hate it. Can rarely get it to light, sent it to xikar to get fixed and had the same issues. Only use xikar fuel but that didn't fix it either. Decided to go with a vector Thunderbird insert in a thyrm pyrovault that ive used for a while now and its never let me down.
Who the fuck dislikes these videos? The video is always exactly what the fucking title is. You get exactly what you're expecting from Jeff. Another great video. In the darkest times of my life your videos have always been a delightful part of my day. Keep up the good work.
Don't know, just guessing, but maybe it's that this video cannot possibly be interesting with this subject combined with a duration of 20 minutes. These videos are literally 80% waffle.
I’m a huge Zippo fan! But I have a big collection of all kinds of lighters. Just getting prepared to do a video on my entire collection. It took a few days to round them all up! Another use for a lighter! How about heating up your car key when the lock keyhole on your car is frozen shut? lol! Great video! Happy Smokes! Where there’s smoke 💨 there’s fire 🔥
The "KGM" is part of Vector's company name, it's not the model name of the lighter. That's a nice design, though. I like it. I just discovered within the last couple of weeks that they make a Thunderbird (Zippo insert) model with the combo soft-flame and torch flame just like the one you show in this video. Picked one up from Amazon and couldn't be happier with it. You should check it out.
Hello, I'm Chris from Clarks Summit PA! I've never owned a lighter, but I'm finally getting my first Zippo by way of an impulse buy. It's a Saber-tooth skull limited 1000 run edition with display box. It was $133 with shipping. My question is, did I pay too much? The 1000 run eds are all different prices from 500 to 60. The saber tooth was the last one they had which is I got it. Thanks for the informative videos. Been watching since 2009.
Bic's are very reliable lighters for what you pay for them, which is almost $2.00 in some places. I don't smoke but ALWAYS have a lighter because they are very useful. I've done just some of these things with lighters: lit candles, incenses, pilots, lanterns, torches & warming my hands, using them for light in the dark, soldering, melting paracord, plastic, stripping wire, heating up heat shrink tubing and melting electrical tape so it doesn't come apart. That is all usually with a soft flame lighter, I don't typically use jet flames but might start using one occasionally.
where i live the average Zippo is $95 where as similar looking off brand version from Zorro are sub $10, hence why I only have 2 Zippo and 30+ Zorro lighters
I have a bunch of Zippos and soft and jet flame z-plus inserts but at the moment I'm carrying a half-size peanut lighter, a pea lighter. It's tiny and does all I need is for which at this time of year, is lighting barbeques!
Jeff why haven't you brought up Colibri lighters? I figured you would mess around with one of those. My grandfather gave me his many years ago. Such a classy and well made lighter
I actually have a Zippo ai bought at a second hand store, I bought it for $5 and it is from 1971, according to the date marks. I love it! it looks used and is dinged up.
I recently came across your channel bro and I like the content a lot cause I can relate to a lot of things on your channel. Now I was looking up lighter and BAAAM you popped up again...LOL!!! You’re into things I’m into. Great channel!
I have a 207 Street Chrome. It was cheap, it is reliable and windproof, and it has a lifetime warranty that Zippo actually backs up, so it was exactly what I was looking for and more. Regardless of this, I consider the design of it to be timeless and an icon of design and subtle statement
I love the last Vector lighter but cannot find it for sale anywhere online. The link you provided in the video description for it doesn't appear to work anymore either. Do you know if I can still purchase one today and if so, where from?
I'm edc'n a clippers lighter this one us actually butane refillable and the flint and wheel slide out so you can use it as a back up spark thrower say if you were in the woods.
only edc a zippo when i have a pack of cigarellos, its a fairly simple black with a red outline around the edge. I want to get the Morse code zippo from smkw and that same throwback you have to engrave.
Great video except for the part where you say that you need to purge a lighter and then something about bubbles getting in the line. None of that makes sense from a physics and chemistry standpoint. Emptying a lighter just wastes fuel. No lighter will completely empty itself of fuel and so you may need to refill at 50% to get the pressure back up enough to use it. PV=mRT Since V and R are constants. If T is constant then the pressure is only a function of the mass of fuel in the lighter. Big variations in T will cause the pressure to change. Going from snow country to the desert will cause a change in pressure. The amount of gas in an empty lighter is insignificant and will be completely expelled after the first two or three uses. Then the entire fuel chamber will be a combination of butane liquid and saturated butane gas.
I have a Japanese cigarette case with a concealed lighter within it, the flame comes out at the corner where the trigger is, its lightweight and great for my Villiger Swiss cigarillos.
Put a thin strip of self amalgamating tape around your Zippo insert and it won't lose fuel nearly as fast. Stretch it very thin until it meets itself and joins together. Put a bit of vaseline on so it slides in and out and you have a DIY gasket.
Hey, Jeff, did you have any of vertigo lighters? I looking for a cheap but reliable jet lighter, want to hear an expert opinion :) BTW, love your stories and reviews!
i EDC a bic. i dont smoke. i use it to burn threads, heat shrink, soften plastics, peel stickers if i dont have goo gone, burn napkins for a quick bug repellent, burn fishing line.
Hey Jeff, do you think you could film your videos in mono sound, if you wear headphones your voice jumps between the two headphones and it is a bit disorientating
my turboflame v-flame stopped working completely yesterday it is full of fuel , is turned up to right level and still sparks but just won't work do you know any tips or tricks to fix it ?
Hello, I need a piece of advice, I bought a zippo butane insert and when I fill it up it won't work on low (-) or medium setting...only when I set it to full (+) and even better when I set it to the max...little above the + sign... I even let the fuel out and air...as you explain it in your video...if anyone knows where's the catch....let me know... THANKS :D P.S: I smoke cigars...if you have some recommendation for a torch lighter, let me know!
I love your video and I love the fact that you respect women who smoke cigars I've as a black woman have been smoking cigars since I was about 26 and the only reason is because it reminds me of my great-grandfather the aroma makes me feel safe😥💪♥️I know it sounds weird, but he was a goodhearted man!🙏♥️🙏🇺🇲 He also fought in world war I 💪🇺🇲😥♥️🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏👍
Thats awesome thanks for your grandfathers service, and its not strange I know a few different people both mean nd women who enjoys cigars because it reminds them on a family member whos smoked, the smell is calming and usually very pleasant :)
I always carry a zippo with me that's chrome with a faint playboy bunny on it (found it in my couch lol) or a bic. But now I have to look into that dual flame Victor lighter.
Lately i'm caring the standard "street chrome" Zippo. The cheapest one. Got it through a cig company for free. Had a brass and a black one many years ago but lost them. :)
The reason it doesn't light the odd time is because you're lighting it a tid too fast, it explains in the manual how the crystal sparker timing is offset so its best lit slower, I know those sparkers to be very reliable they're not the standard piezo ones
I'm using a 1935 replica with a Vector regular soft flame butane insert... love it. Also love my Vector Coup, very slim. Btw, Jeff I have the Vector torch insert and it's really nice, they have lifetime warranty right.. so
I surprisingly have fallen in love with eagle torches medium or bigger being a smoker I've put them through the ringer and they work and they last plus a good one is 5 to max 8 bucks.
imco 6600, zippo, or tohil. yes, all petrol lighters. I thought I would like the thunderbird soft flame insert in a zippo. It works very well but I just don't carry it hardly at all. I just like the attributes of oil lighters much better. I really like the 6600, and tohil for candles etc because of the reach. The zippo feels the best in hand and pocket. Just have to be in the habit of filling once a week for zippo and imco. Tohil last forever on a load of fuel.
I like the last vector deffenatly I used to take clipper around or bic big one when I use to go to my school mate I use to find small or bigger bic lighters around but I got a butane like Zippo press to open waterproof seal u kinda had to press harder on it till it fits in bit better but it was jet press and hold weird polymer my little parafume leaked on it and it went weird then the pin that holds the top the plastic on the top cracked and it went off use but it's decent transperant inside ez refill whatever butane it was handy
I have some 20 year old zippo but some owner before me snap cover so I must change from other copy of zippo but work great it's original only top is from other have some engravings very common but I love him and never will change him
I really like using matches because of the smell. But i don't have a lot of reasons anymore. Used to light my small cigars with a zippo or matches. Now i just carry some bic lighters in case i need one.
I swear lighters like that dual flame vector always seem to have a huge soft flame. To the point that I think I'd want a second knob to change the soft flame height.
Another reason why people don't use/like Zippos - contact dermatitis from the fuel (I suffer from it a bit...the other day I actually refilled one of mine for the first time in about 3 months (whilst wearing gloves as well), and today I've had a few cigs and I'm still getting a touch of dermatitis/dry skin...) :-(
hi , the blue lighter is used wrongly !!! you are using it wrong , it is a torch kitchen lighter , first you open the lighter , then you turn on the gas until you hear the gas escaping then you strike it , you do not have to hold down the striker once it is lit. to trun it off , you lower the gas to zero than you close the lid. in your selection it is actually one of the best lighters you have. I have the exact same lighter in orange colour, it is my go to lighter that works even in rain !!
I don’t smoke but I enjoy a good lighter

How can you not like the smell of a zippo?!
It can be overloading sometimes
I love ronsonal for that reason.
I sniff the literal flame

I don’t smoke at all. I just like the sound of those like classic lighters opening and closing so I want one.
I don't smoke either but I edc my zippo just because of how useful fire is, you never know when your gonna need it.

Can't beat a regular brushed chrome Zippo.
"I tried to sniff coke once but the ice cubes got stuck in my nose" that was on a generic Zippo I had. Lol.

I'll trade 10 slabs of milka(Austrian chocolate) equivalent of $14,47 for one of your cheap American plain Zippos with your signature on it.

Is a slab like a bar or is it a giant slab
@@garyt6931 a slab is 100gramms(not very much) so i am willing to trade a Kilo of chocolate for a Zippo with his signature
I just ordered a replica IMCO Triplex for the exact con you said about Zippos. IMCO holds twice the fuel and has a design that leaks less.

Do you still do Zippo videos?
Hey Jeff, it's me again. I still think you should do a UA-cam live. That would be awesome!
Eric Beggs i agree
Zippo brass pipe insert, since 1999, baby!
where do you buy your butane at>?
they dont ship to CA
and do a video of you filling up your lighter
The reason it doesn't light the odd time is because you're lighting it a tid too fast, it explains in the manual how the crystal sparker timing is offset so its best lit slower, I know those sparkers to be very reliable they're not the standard piezo ones
I'm using a 1935 replica with a Vector regular soft flame butane insert... love it. Also love my Vector Coup, very slim. Btw, Jeff I have the Vector torch insert and it's really nice, they have lifetime warranty right.. so
When are you gonna start the balisong vids
I surprisingly have fallen in love with eagle torches medium or bigger being a smoker I've put them through the ringer and they work and they last plus a good one is 5 to max 8 bucks.
What is the one at the end called the 3 jet flame one is the kgm I really would appreciate it if you could tell me?
Jeff, What about pipe lighters?
imco 6600, zippo, or tohil. yes, all petrol lighters. Tohil last forever on a load of fuel.
was wondering, do I Purge the remaining fuel/butaine when refilling?
tiffany yoo yes
Do you loose gas when you leave your zippo cap open? Also my zippo gets very hot everytime i use it
When I light my Zippo, if I inhale some of the smell, I feel a little dizzy. lol
I have some 20 year old zippo but some owner before me snap cover so I must change from other copy of zippo but work great it's original only top is from other have some engravings very common but I love him and never will change him
hey dude send me your crappy zippos ill take good care of them... except for the hinges i like doing your tricks
I like simplistic zippos but I can’t decide whether I want the brass colour or the silver colour.
I feel you are the most confident when reviwing lighters.
I really like using matches because of the smell. But i don't have a lot of reasons anymore. Used to light my small cigars with a zippo or matches. Now i just carry some bic lighters in case i need one.
I swear lighters like that dual flame vector always seem to have a huge soft flame. To the point that I think I'd want a second knob to change the soft flame height.
does any lighter work in below freezing temperatures ???
What do you put in your cigars?
I put an airtight seal on my zippo top which has a small lock to stop the air from escaping.
