How to make powdered laundry detergent:
*4lb 12oz Borax
*Fels Naptha (3 bars)
*4lb Arm & Hammer Baking Soda (I used half)
*3lb 7oz Arm & Hammer Washing Soda
*1.25lb of OxyClean or similar brand
*1- 8oz bottles of Purex Crystals

I started using this recipe about 7 or 8 years ago and I only have to make it once a year. I am single but I do go through a lot of towels and I only use about a tablespoon and a 1/2 per load and they come out great. Sometimes I add a little extra fabric softener but that's it. Whole lot cheaper than what I used to spend on detergent.
This is the best receipe I seen on UA-cam, I like that you showed up close how to do this, I'm going to share this to my grandma and try this myself. Thanks for sharing !

No commercial detergent has borax and washing soda. Its one or the other, NOT BOTH.
Borax is an old fashioned, not very effective alkaline water softener. It’s not used in commercial laundry products.
Is borax safe to use on laundry? There are information online saying borax could be harmful to use???

I used the two Fels and 1 bar of Zote in mine. There is a product call Awesome at the Dollar Tree I use instead of the Oxiclean and seems to work just as well.......it's a dollar. Thanks for posting:)

Marta Escobar Does the awesome dissolve easily in cold water? Because I heard that it says to use with warm water only.
I have a top loader, so I put the soap in first and start the fill up, that said, if you have a front loader and are afraid it won't dissolve.....put the measured amt. in a mason jar with warm water and let it dissolve. I haven't had any problems with soap residue in the machine or on my clothes. I have always used cold water. This soap cleans really well. Paz:)
