- The AGPtek Dual DashCam should be avoided.
Even though it has some nice features at a nice price point the camera falls down very badly when it comes to video quality and sound. The cameras lenses are not HD even though it is marketed as such. Night and low light results are predictably poor. The microphone is tiny and mostly useless.
Do not buy this camera.

I did some research and the reason these cameras are advertised as HD is because in Asia where they are made, anything of and over 480 is considered HD, where as Europe and US it has to be 720+ to be considered HD.. so we really need to check the description when buying from China :)
You are the first YTer that has the balls to say "Not-Recommended" so goes my thumbs up and subscription to your channel. Seems every one else either gets free item/free cockies, etc and so viewer has to take all the advise with a grain of salt. Your honesty is clear right there. Also I liked the fact that you actually have used the camera over a long period of time as any other high subscribed UA-camr appears to put hand on an item, once just out, just to make a rapid publishable review (For the sake of attracting maximum number of viewers and follower and then sell it on ebay so never he or she, actually use that item to give a real long time experience with the item. Having said all these, I'm very interested in this camera and probably will buy it, despite what said however now I know about all the short comings thus make an educated & informed purchase (Especially that price is right, @ under $60 from seller in USA). I really like this kind design of two camera in same body (Uber or Taxi design) which should fit the Convertible cars at best, where the rear camera can not be attached to back glass. There is a newer, soon to show up design that each of the cameras are located in far sides of main body and rotate along a vertical axis, so cameras can point to each side windows for police encounter or likewise, in addition to ability to swing one toward front and the other to back, as intended. Also appears to have HDR enhanced but guess no GPS.
BTW do you thin if the mic's hole is widen or drilled (Without damaging the mic) will that help in a better audio recording? I have heard that due to need to send the item fast into market, typically these Chines knocked offs get a lot flaw design, such as this one.

The mic is not useless. It's intended use is for the audio recording, not for play back audio.

I have this camera and I'm perfectly happy with it and the features. I knew going in, for the price, not to expect a professional HD DVR car camera. I expected a decent dual-cam unit that records what is happening inside and outside of my car, with GPS/map recording, sound and speed.....and that's what I got. I put a 32GB SD card in the day I bought it, about six months ago. I use it daily, whenever I drive and even leave it on when I'm out of the car shopping or buying gas, etc. The card is no where near full. I have NEVER had any problems with the cords slipping out or any other challenges....well maybe trying to understand the documentation, but I watched a UA-cam video and got all the info I needed to setup the unit. I would recommend this unit to anyone looking for lots of good features, descent quality and a great price.
I need help. How do I get the GPS and the Jplayer to show up on the dashcam device ? The GPS doesn't even show up on the camera. Please let me know, because I am leaving for Florida in the beginning of June. Thanks Henry !!!

If you cant afford a more expensive/better dash cam, this camera will work just fine. I own this camera and its better then nothing.
Now if you can afford a better camera, i recommend one of the Garmin dash cams. They work really good. I use the Garmin in my POV. I use the cheaper camera for work.

Fails for me. The power cable is WAY too short. Normally you would mount it behind the mirror but the cable is too short and doesn’t reach the socket. Putting the camera at the bottom of the windshield distracts you when driving. Just buy an all in one mirror.

Dude what about the SD card...i bought an SD micro card and did NOT work. it says to use FT Micro card, also what about the Night Vision, darn thing inf-red is Useless can't see anything on Dark Roads! am i doing something wrong ?

If you think about it, It kind of defeats the purpose of having a GPS. You think the box or someone would of said something.

How big of a sd cars can this hold? And how much time do I have before it erases footage?
My camera records sporadically for a few minutes and then stops. I don't know why.

please use jplay software installed in your memory card than it will record videos

Doug Vandegrift Sorry for the late reply, but the i1000 is a better dual dashcam though it's not a taxi style.
This camera is good I installed it for my mom. The camera is good. The low lighting really doesn't help but in the daytime and afternoon your straight. As far as the menu its in Russian you have to check the settings on it.
You need a class 6 to ten memory card to make it worth your while. The impact feature works well even when the car is off and the GPS is on my mother slammed the door and the camera turned on good for hit and run drivers. I still have to check the issue with that GPS signal.
Its a good camera if you like low res video. Check the i1000 - $40 cheaper and 720p with a g sensor. ua-cam.com/video/8FHPeNyhzWA/v-deo.html

Recently picked mine up off Amazon for $54 bucks and have been using it for a week now. As a field technician, I do a lot of driving and have been looking for something like this camera for a long time.
I have to disagree with you about NOT recommending this camera. Even though each camera is not HD, the picture is clear enough prove who was at fault in an accident or disprove a bogus ticket. Add in the g-force detection, GPS/speed tracking and Google maps interface features and you're pretty much covered no matter what.
I agree that it won't get a license plate #, but then neither will the best camera in the world unless you're lucky enough to have the guy leave directly in front of you.
BTW, it's 640X480 (VGA) on each camera including the front. The 1280 comes from them combining both cameras. It's deceptive advertising but I knew what I was getting into after reading the reviews and watching some sample videos such as yours. If I had paid $300, I'd have some reservations...for around $50 bucks it's a killer deal and cool toy.
My GPS plugs in firmly like a USB would and I've had no issues with that. Has yours maybe fallen off the windshield a few times causing a weak fit? I see some heavy scratching near the DC IN jack.
My mic is also weak but I just need to turn up my computer speakers and I can hear the radio, phone conversations etc.
Only issue I'm having is trying to figure out how to lock a file using the orange hazard button. Padlock comes up for maybe a minute and disappears but no files are locked when I play back. Maybe the mode button needs to pressed and a new recording started?
I also see that Amazon now shows a 2014 model that's supposedly true HD. It's about $30 more and of course they listed that model a day after I ordered mine.
As I said I love the feature set, just not happy with the resolution and the deception. Can get 1080p for as little as $29 now.
Don't underestimate the importance of clearly reading a licence plate number or the lettering on a contractor's van etc. The vehicles around an incident can be tracked for the purposes of giving witness as well.
Lol, mine has fallen off the windshield a few times...Suction cups being what they are.
Even at $50 (I paid around $80,10 months ago) dollars I can't recommend a VGA camera. That is only my opinion.

I have the same exact model. I can't seem to get the menu to show up half of the time. It goes into some playback mode. and then all the buttons seem to do nothing. I press and hold the power button to shut it off, and it turns right back on. The video screen turns black after a minute. I want the screen on all of the time. And black when I want it be black.
You should return it. It's not functioning properly.
Thinking of buying this. But not anymore. Bad quality. Definitely not 1080p. Thanks.

Anybody can explain ? Undertand the we use 32g sd card but when i check to my pc, it shows only 119 mb.
You must have bought your card from ebay (Known for all kinds of scams including fake cards with completely legit skin & appearance). But then if you got it from a reputable seller, it could be that you are having a corrupted card. Was it heat exposed or was used in dash cam for a very long time with numerous loop recordings on it? Format it in your PC (Deep format) and if it fails to format, you know what the problem is.

32GB will contain enough video for 4 days. When it is full, it begins to overwrite the earliest video. I use this for 4 years now and never had one problem.
So which one do you recommend?
rob ambrose Right now I recommend the i1000 if you're looking for a dual cam. Make sure you purchase it from a reputable retailer with an actual return policy in case you get a knockoff.

:( . Camera read -Card ERROR- So I bought a new card. That card failed . Held the card in place while the card was locked in place and the formatting finally completed. GPS connector needs to be lifted out and angled a bit to get the GPS to work. I drive at night. The video that I finally did get is as clear as wearing dark sun glasses at night. After 20 minutes recording failed and went to Card ERROR again Doesn't record anything. Hey but it looks Cool stuck to my windshield.

not H D , like it says , kind of fake news, Has to be at least 1080p, then you have H D, and then it can read license plates etc.

hace unos pocos dias compre una igual a esta y es un dolor decabesa yo no recomiendo comprar esta camara 1-esque al querer desmontar la camara tienes que quitar todo 2-luego siquieres quitar la targeta igual tienes que desmontar toda la camara 3- al encender el carro enciende la camara pero alos pocos segundos se oscurece pa pantalla y no se save si esta gravando 4-el cable del gps alconectarlo sale un indicador que no esta conectado y porsieso es poco loque se supone que gravo no loves o almenos es asi en mi camara .

i just got my cam and tested it in the heat of the moment. as a matter of fact, i am really disappointed with video quality. you cannot even read plate of car in front of you in daylight. you should be very close to read it and again not very clear. Reading plates may be very important for some incidents and to prove you are right.
features and design is good compared to the other cams.
You can always should out the license plate over and over if in an accident. Why not do that

Hi! Good review! I have this sh.t - china crap camera. And have a problem with GPS... when i connect GPS module-antena into a camera, its simply start blinking and eventualy freezziinngg... JPlayer are not showing any GPS information on record! Crap!

I have this dash cam and its a piece of garbage. after about 3 months of use, the camera just will not stay on. the internal battery will not hold charge, rendering the piece of garbage useless. Almost all things from china is no good. Can the internal battery be replace, anyone?
