You can always point the two cameras towards the front and merge the clips into a stereoscopic one :D
3d dashcam!
Great review! Much more in-depth than the first one I found for this camera. Thank you.
Sounds like`James May :)
I have an estate car and I'm looking for a dual system where I can place a separate camera right at the back, so I can get a clear image of both perspectives.
Are there any products out there that offer full HD and night vision for both front and rear cameras?
your channel deserves to "blow up" (in a good way)
How do you change the time and date. I just got mine today and can not move the curser to the wrench pic to to set the time and date.
Your reviews are very good. Keep up the gud work.
Hi i drive a cab and need infrared for the occupants. Can you recommend a camera for this. Bearining in mind i have a mirror meter so cant use a mirror mounted camera
Are there any cameras that can record passengers only? It may or may not be a dash cam. I have a front road view dash cam. Maybe looking for one to put on speedometer area. Thanks
Thank you for making a comprehensive video. As it doesn't show rear seats very well in low light. Do u recommend any particular camera with good quality, where outside and inside car is more clear in low light or in the night.
We have "professional" ones in our vehicles, cellphone upload to central service, and they come with a separate IR illuminator. Lights everything up as best as you can for IR.
Is there any chance that the unit could be inverted ? allowing more vision.
Cheers.
Another question: I turned off looping, because I want to record and archive many hours of driving. But I've discovered that after 1 hour of recording it stops. No looping, it just stops after 1 hour, and I have to restart the recording (manually, or by cycling the ignition). Is this by design? What's going on?
Is this the best camera to record both the view of the road and passengers? Are there any more cam that can record both views? Normal style or Mirror style are fine. Thanks
Your videos are extremely helpful - thank you! I am looking for something similar to this camera which also videos when the car is not running. I am finding it difficult finding a hidden camera for my car which works well at night (preferably with 360 degree range - maybe I need two cameras) and and can keep recording when the car is turned off (for at least 8 hours). Maybe a camera like this does not exist! Have you come across any you can recommend? Any advice would be much appreciated!
hello can you help me out what the bust dash cam back/front for a bmw 325ci convertible?
Hi techmoan, will you be doing a review of the new transcend drivepro 220?
I enjoy watching your videos and while watching this one, I wondered what the video looked like full screen in low light. Did you happen to have that and not use? I know it's been a few years, but just wondered.
Hey Techmoan, couldn't you mount the Dash Cam upside down on to you mirror so that it doesn't obscure your field of view. I know this may not work with all cars, but it could be an option if you have the space to support the front view
Please which dash can that will work 24 hours. I need your advice
I wondered if you had any recommendations for me. I am a van driver, each day I use a different van, so the camera will need to have a sturdy easily-removable windscreen mount. I drive for up to 10 hours a day. So I need reliability and capability to take a big memory card. I can power it by 12V. Preferably I want it to be fairly discreet although this isn't essential. Nothing too expensive in case I lose it etc but maybe upto £120 or a little more. If you or anyone else can suggest something I'd be very grateful.
Fuck me I always thought you were James May
Hi! Technoman i really enjoy your videos and i hope you keep doing it. I love techno and your videos are very informative. Keep it technoo!!!
hi dear.Techno
from where i can buy online
can you help me.
thanks
The resolutions are 1080p and 720p quality just with a narrower aspect ratio than 16:9. The playback video seems to be 16:9, which may have affected quality due to stretching. So was it the camera, Techmoan, UA-cam, or a puppet?
Another great video. I see you have a new MINI. You had one before. How do they compare? I've got a 2011 Cooper and when checking out the new ones I thought the wind shield was far away and the A Pillar was blocking part of the forward view.
Hi techmoan, i subscribed to your channel because i enjoy your reviews but as i was watching the action cam reviews i didn't find the ricoh wg m1. im looking to buy an action cam and was intrested in this one. Do you think you can make a review for this one?
Really useful video, I've been looking to buy this camera and think based on your objective review I'll leave it. Can't thank you enough. (they're available on Amazon for £99 currently).
I have the M1000 version of this sold on Amazon. On mine the camera on the right has a darker image than the left one, don't know if it's the camera, or settings. Also I use a 20,000 mah USB battery to power it.This allows me to put everything up on my visor out of the way. And no worries about draining the car battery. This battery will last over 12 hours, so it's been a great solution. I'm surprised more people with dashcams don't us a USB battery.
i have one i just recently purchased ,, and mine will shut off after a couple minutes ,, why does it do that ,,, do i have something set wrong ?
Hi, I love your videos. You helped me a lot before I bought the one I have now. I ended up getting a one that you hadn't done a demonstration on. (Mi Witness). I only went for it because it's a good compact device and up to now, it does the job. (Not been in an accident yet but caught loads of idiots on the road). Keep up your great work and I look forward to the next video you post.
Shirley Scott Glad you found a camera to suit your needs - I hope you keep avoiding those idiots too.
Hey Techmoan, have you ever thought of reviewing the Papago GoSafe 260? It's like this camera, but without a front facing camera, although it does record full 30fps 1080p
please give me name of this camera i could not fine anywherer
idea is great but... this one sucks. I'm still looking for the best audio/video to put on my cab. Anyone's suggestions?
Techmoan, your style and voice is excellent. I truly believe you could review pretty much ANYTHING you wanted to. Technology items, Cars, Films, Books, the list goes on.
Wouldn't mind seeing you test driving specific cars with 'high tech' features, such the HUD on the MINI. I am pretty sure if you approached the manufacturer's with a business case they'd happily hand you over the keys for filming..
Keep up the good work
kanulondon I'll try to do something with my car in a future video, but I think the logistics (insurance etc) would mean that it's probably best to just stick to that.
Techmoan Definitely worth looking into though (logistics). I am not really fussed for mini's myself, but I've seen so much new Tech in cars. They're becoming very 'smart'. I'd really like to see you running through some of the tech. Not wanting to put down another reviewer, but you'd knock someone like HonestJohn out the park for reviews on hits alone. Keep up the good work!
Swanky new Mini Mat! Is that a HUD on the dash? Would love to see a review of that if it is as I’ve been thinking about getting a car with that option myself.
Awesome review as always!!!
I want a rear-view/dash camera but they all seem to be the clip on type. I don't want a clip-on type because they seem bulky. I also think thieves will notice them . Have you ever seen one of these that is a replacement for your actual rear view mirror and have you seen one of these with not so obvious buttons?
which site I can oder from an how much is the cost
How do transfer the videos to your phone?
Climbing into the back seats of your car in a dark corner. .. bet that looked suspicious. Another good job, looking forward to your next project
Are you driving around Wigan?? I live right near there !!
Can't find where to purchase this?
As one of those "ride sharing drivers" we (the trade) are looking for a good dash cam "and" interior camera with the emphasis at least for me being on the interior.
I watched all the reviews and then I bumped into a company that sells very expensive, custom reconfigured, rebranded, CCD cameras for the interior of commercial taxi fleets.
Maybe that is the answer. CCD with the appropriate accessories.
A review along this path could be appreciated by many.
I bought one of these on Amazon and have had difficultly trying to get
the seller to give answers. Somewhere I saw a help video where the 4
tiny lights surrounding the lens on each camera head illuminated, but
cannot find a setting to turn those on or off and do not know if the
newer versions are illuminated or not? Please tell me how to turn those
off and on or if they do not illuminate now while in night mode?
those are infrared lights, you can't see them...
Get your phone and point at them, you will see they're on.
What mini do you have Techmoan
hello there, in some future video can make a solar garden lamps revew? really interesting in buy somes but dont know a good mark, or good prices. hope you can :).
Why are both cameras on the same side? You can't view to the left because the device itself blocks the view.
There are quite a few of these around now. How about a review of a more high spec one? a 1080p, 30fps, h.264 one? Thank you for great vids, Techmoan!
FOR HOW LONG CAN IT KEEP RECORDING?
Mmmm nice new mini loaded with options, congrats on a nice purchase, as a bmw fan Mini would be my second choice 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I really need one of these. I like unintrusive cameras and with some of these they'll accept an input for reverse cam. I prefer the type that replaces the mirror as I've found that some mirrors aren't the right size to work with my mirror. I'll end up doing this in my wife's car.
Thanks for another very informative video review. Not being a Taxi driver I don't think I will be buying one any time soon.
By the way I purchased 2 x SJ4000 cameras. One the standard model and the other the Wi Fi model as a direct result of your review and I'm more than happy with the units (I use them on my tourist trike). I don't think I'll get the SJ5000 until they improve the firmware and get some of the bugs sorted out.
Thanks again - Kym (Sydney- Australia).
is this compatible with a 2014 Honda Accord
On the back of your previous reviews I bought a Mini 0803 and am on the whole very pleased (the packaging is extremely neat). However, one thing that it could benefit from is a longer power lead. Perhaps this measurement could be added to your ever-increasing list, if indeed there is any variation? Thanks as always for putting yourself out; big-time.
Did you get a new car
thumbs up for the VW shirt :) id give this camera 5/10 from what ive seen on your other reviews.
How is mini 0806 ?
The concept is great, maybe a 3rd iteration could be amazing.
what is that dark tinted material on the dash in front of the steering wheel
+LordDrachenblut It's a HUD optional extra for his Mini
Another use for a camera like is to record interactions with law enforcement. Just have one camera pointed at the driver side window. Of course that might not work as well here in the US given where the cameras are placed. If they were on the other side of the mirror it would work better. In the end I would probably go for separate cameras with better video and audio. Separate videos would be more useful than a split video.
the std mirror dash-cam is quite large, this would obstruct my view, i like the cameras though, just want 1 on a lead to mount above the mirror to cover passengers (taxi) with IR for night
what was that tinted piece of glass or plastic thing on his dash board?
it's a head up display that came with the mini. he has described it in a video.
Which dash camera would you recommend for a fire truck. We are looking at equipping our fleet for insurance reasons. Single or duel facing, night vision, able to cut the audio on and off.
Thank you sir.
wayne carroll look at my Vicovation camera reviews. Their Marcus cameras are great allround devices.
Wow cool your a fireman!!!!?
Maybe you should do a review on your mini
Is that smoked Perspex a HUD on top of the Mini dash ? Nice vid Matt
That was a great Info. Thanks a lot !
Shame it's not a meter too. I've been thinking of developing a mirror meter with CCTV integrated as I can't find one on the market. The glass is tinted to make up for lack of active dimming.
Hi Techmoan,
Great work. I dig your channel. Is there a a better dual dash cam that has come out since the one above?
+Michael Perri in a mirror? There's nothing that I've tested.
OK. I'll keep wishing. thanks
Yea these would be awesome for my cab
In Australia taxis are required to house cameras outside, on the sides, and inside
You got a very nice Mini sir. :)
Hi . You should angle both lenses to the front, side by side, seemless, so you get a superwideangle lens ;)
When the screensaver is set does it turn back to a mirror?
JUNK4UCREW Yes.
Thank you for making some wonderful reviews.
Although I love the idea of having a single system that can record both front and back (you can also record police encounters if they stop you) I do not like the audio so I think I will pass in hopes they will make it better in the next generation.
would be a good thing if you work for uber.... or maybe a slightly better quality one with a good mic
Great video. Thanks!
Thanks for the review....
Do you have a interest to test more car dash camera?
Sound for the extra links
how mutch is this?
Thanks for review, Mat. My opinion considering pricing - 100$ would be more or less adequate price for this dashcam, if we turn a blind eye to the fact that video quality is pretty bad, but 200 bucks, hell no.
Here in Australia, or in the state of Victoria at least where I live, Taxis are fitted with cameras that take pictures every minute or so, they don't take continuous video, but the cameras are professionally installed above the rear view mirror, I suspect they probably have wide angle lenses, some of them may have dual lenses on them, and of course they have infrared night vision too. Still, I can see the appeal of something like this, and I don't think Victorian taxis are fitted with dashboard cameras that are fitted to record video imagery from outside the car.
I have one of these under the WickedHD brand (exact same specs) and your review is spot on: the form factor and function are very good for certain purposes, but the picture quality is only adequate, especially at night.
A year later, have you yet seen a dual mirror cam like this with higher quality components and better quality picture?
+scrabtree1 I haven't tested any more...but there may be something better out there by now.
This is still the only one AFAIK that is rear view mirror mounted. The other dual cams are all suction cup mounted.
At last check, this one is now multi-branded under Falcon F360, WickedHD WCD-5801, Black Box M1000, and Pyle PLCMDVR52.
Price has dropped to about $100. When comparing price and models, pay attention to whether it includes an SD card, because that is sometimes the price difference. IMO you can get faster cheaper SD cards. Also I have had success with a 64GB SD card, even though specs are for 32GB max.
That looked a lot like Charnock Richard, ever so close to my old home. :)
Hi Techmoan, another great video! Is it possible for you to provide some pictures of the camera outside of the car and through the drivers window to see how it would look to thieves? As I'd like to keep it in my car 24/7. Also would it be theoretically possible to have both cameras facing outwards as maybe 2 different angles? or one facing normally and the other facing more to the right to show the view through the drivers window?
Thanks again Mat, great video as always :D
BiggerByte The cameras rotate exactly as far as I show in the video - if that fits your needs then you are ok. I haven't taken a picture from the outside of the car, sorry, but it looks like a mirror with two things hanging from it - it's less obvious than the usual dashcam.
Techmoan Awesome, thank you for the reply, I just noticed this inside your mini: biggerbyte.net/mQ Is that a heads up display like the one you reviewed but actually good? Also, really nice mini, sounded quite nice on the sliproad and looks brand new :D
BiggerByte Yes it's a HUD - my favourite feature of the car - it's also quick, quiet and comfortable.
Techmoan Any chance of a quick video showing it off? I've never seen one in a car before... that actually works and with your quality of video making I would love to see your thoughts and video on it. Thanks again for the reply!
BiggerByte I plan on doing something about this in the future - just need to figure out the best way to shoot it first.
New mini cooper S?
Usually, it's common for Taxi to automaticaly light up the indoor light when the door is open. So I guess thay would be the time this camera came into play, especially at night.

wrote: _'...Taxi to automaticaly light up the indoor light when the door is open...'_
*Good point*. Yes, they are recorded getting *in.......and out*.
Still what happens if the passenger/s assault the driver once the interior light is off?
_From this perspective taxis where I live use specialised low light interior cams for protection at night_.
It seems most newer cars have so type of power up in the mirror or lights above it. It would be nice if car manufacturers provided a power plug (usb or similar) in that area for these devices so you didn't have to fish the wiring in all the trim and hope the power supply that came with the unit is long enough. I like that it is attached to the mirror, I don't like things hanging on the windshield. Maybe car manufacturers will provide these as part of the mirror. Some cars have cameras all around them but only work in reverse and don't record.
How much price
How much buy
i am not interested in this product - however, i watched the whole review!
why? well, i do like tech;buts it really because your style of reviewing is brilliantly captivating. I found you previously when looking for reviews of IT kit.
Great voice; great pace; excellent content. i refuse to watch the gadget show due to its pointless gimmickry and naff presentation. i hope you make a successful career out of reviewing. I could listen and watch all day.
thanks
Quite like the design, just needs a better implementation. Better audio, Video quality, and good infrared, I think it could be a winner.
Dash cam is great invention. Most UK insurance company's accept dash cam videos for crash investigation
Phen0mable t
Thats a cool car ya have. Like to see a review or even a sales pitch on it.........Okay back to cheap Chinese action cams? Or breakfast corndog maker. As always you are the best!
I think a separated unit with LEDs would be better inside the car , but the sound quality would still an issue.
noticed you driving down Dawbers lane, you should pop into quadcopters and get a drone :)
ThatHPI GUY I had no idea that they were there - looking at the website it's a 'by appointment only' kind of place.
Normally yeah, you call up and tell us what you want to collect so we have it ready for you, but a lot of people do just turn up anyway haha. You are always welcome there mate. just drive into Ashlea Farm and you will see us.
Great review :)
I think Mirror cams are a great concept, but it's just a shame no-one has made a decent one yet. I used to use the E-PRANCE one with 2 front-facing cameras (stitched together for wide angle) and a rear-facing camera on the end of a long wire for the back window. Great concept but unfortunately the item itself was a lump of junk; unreliable and packed up completely after 9 months, even when it worked the video quality was poor just like this one.
Thankfully it didn't break until after the same woman who slammed on her breaks at a roundabout on 1st April 2014 (and claimed whiplash etc.) slammed her breaks on AGAIN in front of me, several times, in October last year. (We used to work in the same building - Liverpool Innovation Park - so our commutes often coincided). That was quite fun showing the police the video and they then went to have a stern word!!
I've switched to a DrivePro 200 which I'm very pleased with, at first I missed the discreet nature of the E-PRANCE one, but after someone pointed out that people might mistake me for an undercover policecar I'm minding that less ;) It's a shame not to have a properly rear facing one but I could always buy a second. The picture quality is superb which gives me confidence in case of a crash (as long as it happens at the front!)
good info
were are you from, I feel like I recognize the area.
*stalker ALERT*
I would love to find a dash cam that has has a button to press on it to instantly save the last 5 or 10 minutes of recording. I find it too tedious watching through hours of footage.
Thank you
How much Aussie$Dollar..???
