As i spent the last half hour reading the beautiful comments below i realized that i have a vast family that spans the globe, and i shed a tear of sublime joy at the thought.
Late night, not feeling any pain...in the groove, propelled by the force forward and forward, nothing else exists but the groove, a mind of its own, an imperative of the now, building and swirling, dying down only to be urged along by the dream and the groove....the groove....the magical unifying force. This is the water flowing from deep underground, emerging to the surface, each musician drinking deeply. Tell me what it is....it is the groove.
Damn! I copied that and put it on my desktop so that I can read it at least a few more times. It fits "Caledonia Soul Music" beautifully. It also describes the times of my life that are the best.
I’m always inspired when women really get deep music like she does. My daughter and 17 knows more of life from music than school. How better to educate the next generation????? Seriously who teaches better that Van, Muddy, Willie, Jerry, Django, Jimmie, Aretha, Marvin. It’s to real for words!!!
I thought I'd written this before & sent, if so I apologize but I give that distinction 2 Dylan still however he's got more soul/feeling than Dylan ever did 4 sure...
Here's my 'inarticulate speech' in response to your comment. Sir Van Morrison is still performing majestically live still today. So the 40 years reference is mundane. Long LIVE Van the Man!
Loved that sound the first time I heard it and still do at age 75. I think all of us who came of age 1965-1975 were so lucky to have all the of these great artists playing for us...what a time is all I say, what a time!!

Thanks! The first time I have been able to find the full cut. A while back someone had posted the song in two parts, I thought it may have been because of the length of the song. I have followed Van's music from first listen of Astral Weeks, way, way, way back in September 1969.
No worries, I am happy to share Van's wonderful music :) I haven't been following Van's music for nearly as long as that haha, but like you it started with my first listen of Astral Weeks, even if it was over 40 years later!
The first time I heard Van, was when he was with "Them". Brown eyed girl, TB sheets etc. which was "nice" had a good beat like so many bands in the early sixties. Living in Holland we listened to Rabio Luxemburg, Radio Caroline , Veronica an Northsea. on our Transistor radios with a mono earphone. In the seventies, when I got my hands on "Astral Weeks" (the Album no CD yet) is when my love for Van began. Ballerina became and still is my absolute favorite song. I lost my album while living in the U.S. In the late seventies I found Astral weeks on CD at the only time I saw Van in Concert in Utrecht in Holland. Now I own over 40 CD's of Van Morrison. I never get tired of his music, he still amazes me. With the beauty of his music.@@matthewedgeworth4509
This is so beautiful because it is soul music, it goes right into the soul. And, oh boy, my Soul knows everything about Beauty and Love. Thank you Van and bless you all. 💖
In general Van catches me and transports me. But in this piece, in a special way, it penetrates me through the pores and sinks deep into the bottom. It’s very tribal, it’s constant and repetitive, it seems basic, simple, but it’s actually the result of a lot of work and experimentation. I could listen to it in a loop, I never get tired. I always find new nuances, as with the most outstanding pictorial works of the 20th century. It is ART, thus, with capital letters
No I will not pick a bone with that wise man Stephen Routhedge who said that Van Morrison was the Shakespear of music because I have said those same words many times over the years then I noticed that Stephen R and I are not the only person who believes this to be true, It is for this reason that I will not pick a bone with Stephen because he is completely correct
Huge Van fan here. I'm in the process of writing a trilogy that is in the genre of "magic realism.' Book 1 is already out. In the process of writing Book 2 and Book 3 won't be far behind as I'm sort of working on it at the same time. Anyway, Van's music, especially his contemplative works, will play a large part in Book 2 and the entire book will close with stories about my trip to Newcastle to see him in August 2015. The book is called The Memory Tapes of John I. Pearl...check it out if you wanna. On Amazon. There's even a little Van reference in there since I want to sort of pin down the main character's age / generation. And if you like Joyce and Yeats...you'll dig it. Peace.

When I landed in the Grove in 73 I said Who's this old man playin on the juke box? They at me looked amazed, this is Van, and he lived around here and the Stones lived around there and they made a film and I thought I'd died and gone to heaven and I wasn't wrong. Lemmy told me in 75 that Van had prostitutes delivered everyday to Oxford Studios by taxi three at a time, people said.. you could tell .. it was obvious they were.. so it fascinates me still where he gets his inspirational poignancy from. I will enjoy your book, if you will enjoy writing it, and wish you well.
We’re all “sinners.” We’ve all missed the mark. Some of us have sought spiritual paths after false starts or other things that prompt a “course-correction.” Artists have an additional complexity factored in due to their celebrity. It’s the opposite side of the coin for those who carry their gifts knowing that the industry or critics or ego-temptations to which we are all vulnerable...all lie in wait to defeat the artist. I have no idea if these stories / rumors are true. Could be. Might not be. This is why in the book I pretty much stuck to the “higher self” musings that Van speaks to and aspires to in his music. Long may he run...it’ll be a sad day when his road runs out...❤️🐝❤️

What a fantastic upload. It really shows the extent of Van's music ability. His Caledonia Soul Music is really incredible to listen to. There is no doubt, that he is in a league of his own. I saw him live in Toronto in 2015, he had just turned 70. An evening that frankly blew my mind, he was that good. Genius!
I saw him in Clearwater, FLorida, January before last. Had to look up the set list... an actual 'out of body experience.' He has so much power in his voice! ( And that band watches his every twitch.)
@@melissamoore521 Yeah it was the same in Toronto the band did not miss a move. I've been listening to him for close to 50yrs. He was originally booked for just Friday night, but the tickets sold out in less then an hour, so he included Saturday night. I was able to get tickets. Thank GAWD!.Seeing him live is an experience unto itself. In his 70's no matter where he goes he still fills stadiums. I've been so blessed to have been born a music maker, playing all night -- Jamming under the stars in Jerome AZ. w/so many great musicians.. Van the man knows the meaning of Nirvana music jams, My Man! Keep the communion of songs alive ~*~ The Best!
Feel that Celtic wave.........viben and in the groove. Caledonia!

Can’t sit still! Gotta go move mountains now, after this session!
Another great post... Van the Man & his Caledonia Soul.
Just perfect
From the moment i heard moondance as a mere 10 year old i was hooked. Van's genius musical talent takes me to a heavenly plain that makes me so joyously happy.Only discovered this song only 6 months ago and within the first 10 seconds i knew it was a van song ,been listening to it everyday since. What a legend. Thank you and thank god for the film an american werewolf in London. 😊😊😊
Fabulosa musica.
A fascinating, complex man who is one of the greatest musical artists of the 20th century. His music can still stop me in my tracks! Go Well
This's exactly what it says...'Soul Music'. Still turning people onto it wherever I go! Exceptional!!!
If God himself made music, he would come down as Van Morrison.
God already has.....
