Hi Dr Steve i was just browsing some of the great mans music videos and just spotted your lovely comment about Van the man i have to fully agree with you he is a true musical GENIUS a brilliant story teller and poet his songs are true CLASSICS there are so many wonderful song writers who can express themselves in there songs plus playing an instrument but what Van has ahead of all of them he can go way beyond that and also play three of the most difficult instruments to master the Saxophone Electric Guitar and the harmonica and play them all in his songs and i know how difficult it is to play the saxophone because i play it myself , Kind Regards Alan in Ireland
Alan from Ireland, you are very lucky to live in the same country as Van. He has changed my entire musical ear since indulging in everything Van beginning only two years ago. I regret (deeply) not discovering him in the early 80s when I was in high school. I got to see him in Las Vegas in 2016. Great concert. I flew from Chicago where I live to NY City to see him at Forest Hills a few months earlier but missed the concert. Long story, but it crushed me to miss that concert when i had 7th row seats! I want to see him again but in a more smaller venue, where it's more of his liking and style. I just wish he'd come to Chicago. Thank you for your comment. Van hypnotises us with his lyrics and melodies and even the tones of his vocals. Life's great enjoyment is playing catch up with his career from the sixties until now. I am constantly in discovery mode with him and all his great band members over the decades. And he plays piano and I believe I saw him on a drum kit in an old video. If yo study his music, many lines are from great artists' lyrics he admires or quotes from people. Then he throws in the abstract from conscious streaming. His music can be studied like coursework. Just incredible. Also, we have to give great credit to his current band who has been with him for so long now. Paul and the guys and his wonderful dame (she's from the US) backup singer....all so good. Thanks Allen God Bless.
I'm 44 and been listening to him since my early 20's and I'm still playing catch up and in constant discovery mode with his music. He's gotten me through some hard times and good times. I was listening to the album Common One non-stop while serving in the military in Saudi Arabia and that album helped get me through that ordeal. He truly is one of the Masters.

I've just discovered (uncovered) this Van Morrison. Outstanding, melodic, intense, beautiful, hypnotic, profound, and the musicianship of VM and everyone on stage with him is beyond compare with anything I can recall.
I wish I was you, just in the beggining of journey with Van. Van's musicianship goes without question but look at his supporting cast. They are all so in tune with the master.Mary Black looks like she is being so careful as to not mess up under the Maestro's watchful eye. Van has a great earso give it your best....
Absolutely agree 100%, What a beautiful fit for Van. The best thing is that "anyone" who plays with Van just seems to want to be at their best and make Van's music shine... which usually is the case. Blessed to have someone like Van give me so much happiness.
Over the many years of music there have been some really good musicians that you could just listen to over and over all day and night long. But then there is Van Morrison. He is absolutely in a league ofnhis own. I am just amazed at all the awesome music he has put out over 50 yrs. I just pove him. There are only two people at my age that l would ever even think about going to see and Mr. Van is one and Adele is the other. And I am waiting to see if my friend and I are going to be able to see him this fall in San Francisco. He will be there for 2 nights and by God I hope I am there to see him when he plays!!!
This is one of my all time favorite videos of the Man that changed my point of view , since 1975 I have followed him and his music and he never fails in bringing it home to me , a real constant in my time , I will have his music played when I leave this realm

Mr. Picco, Couldn't agree more. There are times when the best are even better. This is one of those times when Mr. Morrison reaches beyond his considerable grasp and magically pulls the rabbit from the hat. No mere slight of hand here.
Saw him live at the Santa Monica Civic in the middle 70s. I've seen the Kinks, Jethro Tull, 3 Dog Night, Santana, CSNY, Robert Plant, Gordon Lightfoot, and more than I can remember, but that concert was the finest I remember...when Jack was on the saxophone. Ain't the same without that sax...

He’s a friend of mine, he let me play some gigs with him a few years back. Such a sweet bloke. And a phenomenal player!
Do harmonica players often overplay? That's a thought I have never had. Not saying you're wrong, but why do you think harmonica players often overplay?
As a harp player myself, who is guilty of overplaying, I think that is also happening here.
Trying to get outside of empty shells . . . . . What a line!!!
Only one word to describe this performance: "OUTSTANDING"
Such a love. Such a talent. So grateful for every year and every song we’ve had him for. Van has done the job God designed him to do. Thanks Van and thanks to the sharer of this video.
This is a great version of this song... What a story teller and man the passion he sings with... keep jamming my man peace out.
This is why Van Morrison is the MAN 🫶🫶🫶✌️❤️
I've just discovered (uncovered) this Van Morrison. Outstanding, melodic, intense, beautiful, hypnotic, profound, and the musicianship of VM and everyone on stage with him is beyond compare with anything I can recall.
I wish I was you, just in the beggining of journey with Van. Discovering his songs one by one, how great and special they are, yet different from each other and unique from everything else in the music. I remember when I didn't like the songs that after 10 years became my favourites like In the Garden or and the healing just begun. Wish you same great experience !
Enjoy!
Got lucky in life, born in Belfast same year as Van , Big local music scene then, but for me ,he was head and shoulders above the opposition.
Tell me, you … how can anyone with a soul put his thumb down for this….It is bliss...
Still have my album from university days. One of my favorites.
I swear Van be rapping sometimes
love ❤️
I am so pleased to hear you sing. This is more of a jewel, which touches my heart. Thank you for giving me these moments. Congratulations on the gift of delighting lovers of good music.🌛🙏👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😍♥️
I want to like this more then once...
What a solid artist! I have loved his music since 1967!
Man this version checks all the boxes...so fuckin good
Van's musicianship goes without question but look at his supporting cast.
Blessed to have someone like Van give me so much happiness.
grumpy wine for a h
only the best play with the best
Over the many years of music there have been some really good musicians that you could just listen to over and over all day and night long. But then there is Van Morrison. He is absolutely in a league ofnhis own. I am just amazed at all the awesome music he has put out over 50 yrs. I just pove him. There are only two people at my age that l would ever even think about going to see and Mr. Van is one and Adele is the other. And I am waiting to see if my friend and I are going to be able to see him this fall in San Francisco. He will be there for 2 nights and by God I hope I am there to see him when he plays!!!
The bass runs are always so clearly defined....
So, so good. I wish he'd sing like this always nowadays, clear and so full of soul. Unfortunately pretty rare
Van Morrison is The Greatest! Spirit! Just like that, he brings you home.
Every time I go back to Belfast his tunes are in my head.
This is one of my all time favorite videos of the Man that changed my point of view , since 1975 I have followed him and his music and he never fails in bringing it home to me , a real constant in my time , I will have his music played when I leave this realm
me too, my friend.
It seems like he put his soul into every performance

Shammy cleaning all the windows
Singing songs about Edith Piaf's soul
And I hear blue strains of no regredior
Across the street from Cathedral Notre Dame
Meanwhile back in San Francisco
We're trying hard to make this whole thing blend
As we sit upon this jagged
Storey block, with you my friend
And it's a long way to Buffalo
It's a long way to Belfast city too
And I'm hoping the choice won't blow the hoist
'Cause this town, they bit off more than they can chew.

And all the chains, badges, flags and emblems

It's "Chamois" What a killer song, eh? Play it on "The Mystery Train" weekly! (KGGV.FM)
Chamois
It's "'white hope few" I think, not "wino" , lol. Wino's? they could never afford an apt there.
I think it’s a play on words as Sammy was a Very common boys name in Belfast and a chamois ( leather) pronounced Shammy....Was used to clean windows.
I love when people take the trouble to write out lyrics. Been listening to this tune since the early 70's, now I know the words- Thank you!
Van and Dyan and all the others speak the same thing to me..all the music and poetry that I love just seems to keep asking ..WHF IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE . Maybe its just me.

R. R. Rubin I
thanks, roger. i sometimes hear " i shall be cleaning all the windows" in live renditions of this song.
Morrison really did clean windows in Belfast around 1960 As his name suggests he drove a Morris with ladders on the roof
"no regredior"? he sings "no regrets".
🕊Merci .
What a gem indeed! Long time fan here. greetings from the Netherlands.
NOBODY makin' NO commitments, to any one but themselves...... VAN the MAN, said it and it's timeless......
kirk von Nordstrom yes to no way his way.
In memory of the Gainsborough Drive windy cleaners, and carrying coal for Beattie&Sons and Hanna. #VanTheMan
this is my favorite song...
Van the Man sure brings it doesn't he? A legendary performer for sure. Singer/songwriters of this caliber will soon be extinct. I went into the mystic and it stoned me.....Sincere Thanks to Mr George Ivan Morrison from the Williams clan. You bring us so much and we are priveliged to hear these songs. He could sing about a ham n cheese sandwich and touch your soul. Thanks again
Charles Williams i
Charles Williams A ham and cheese sandwich, huh?😁 Well, all I can say is you're right! Dang! Yup,...Van The Man!!!
That's funny(!) because didn't Van once say, when asked about the meaning of 'Madam George', that it was about a ham and cheese sandwich!!?!!
Thanks for posting this. I love the music of the man too much to even begin to explain. A Blessing from above is the best I can think of.
Great harp player, by the way!
best version ever of this song
I think i really agree with you
it sounds fresher and more heartfelt than the original... and him pulling it out of his past was a surprise...
But the one first heard strikes the chord and sets the tone
Mr. Picco,
Couldn't agree more. There are times when the best are even better. This is one of those times when Mr. Morrison reaches beyond his considerable grasp and magically pulls the rabbit from the hat.
No mere slight of hand here.
YES!
Just pure talent
Optimize the quality to it's fullest.
Received this in a trade. Amazing!
GOD BLESS THE IRISH & THEIR MUSIC . IF NOT THEIR CHURCH .
My favorite version!
Saw him live at the Santa Monica Civic in the middle 70s. I've seen the Kinks, Jethro Tull, 3 Dog Night, Santana, CSNY, Robert Plant, Gordon Lightfoot, and more
than I can remember, but that concert was the finest I remember...when Jack was on the saxophone. Ain't the same without that sax...
WOW WOW WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
From a mad keen 75yo Aussie fan.
Wonderful! Are there more from this session?
What a tune ! Van the Man !
Steve Cooney on electric bass...
I really love this version. The musicians are A1 & Van's vocals are superb.
