Don't underestimate him as a guitarist, I heard his studio outtakes from the period between Them, and what would become Astral Weeks, and initially without accompaniment he creates a whole universe just with his voice and guitar. I remember buying Astral Weeks back in 1977, I was fifteen, it was a snowy winter, we used to hang out in a wooden shed, and I was so proud to have that album, Astral Weeks. The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above[a] proclaims his handiwork. 2 Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge. 3 There is no speech, nor are there words, whose voice is not heard. 4 Their voice[b] goes out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them he has set a tent for the sun, 5 which comes out like a bridegroom leaving his chamber, and, like a strong man, runs its course with joy. 6 Its rising is from the end of the heavens, and its circuit to the end of them, and there is nothing hidden from its heat. -- Psalm 19

It was magic...so thanks for uploading this.
@George Ivan Morrison Wow! Next time you come to Holland I'll be there!
Astral Weeks es uno de mis albums favoritos. Me declaro admirador de Van Morrison. Saludos desde México.

It have the same exact feeling towards his music. I knew his greatest hits but then, about 5 years ago, I really start to appreciate his talent and I am full blown addicted to his music right now. It gets you into a different realm; crazy feeling...

I love this song by myself a lot and and part 2. After a hard week week working.
This is so beautiful. I had goosebumps all over and wanted to smile and cry at the same time. Really moving
Yes, it is one of the most moving pieces I have heard in a long, long, long while and the Musicians and Van Morrison's song tops it off, doesn't it? I love the cresendo of music and voice throughout.
Stunning how beautiful this is. From one of my favorite periods in his career, early to late eighties.
Ed9870 Van in the 70’s was pretty darn good (great) too!
Yes of course. But his eighties quiet period is vastly underrated.

Thank you
Its a blessing! Music has the power to lift us, to entertain us, to give us hope and to transform us. It's that feeling that Van Morrison and his band's music makes us feel. Time passes and my taste for his music remains the same. Gratitude to God for existing, people who have sensitivity, to create. Congratulations!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻❤
Beautiful... just beautiful.
This is Beautiful and soothing...I love this too...I like how Van Morrison's voice is somewhat, somewhat in the background....the good combination....voice and musical. OH, he is coming back...right now...like it. Now I have to follow this with , another very favorite of mine...Caledonia Soul. This is OH ever so beautiful, lovely. Squeeze and don't leave me; so good. The more I hear this, the MORE, I love this. I like how he emphases certain words, don't you?
I'm so happy you got a chance to feel this way baby! I love you so much
Caledonia Soul makes me feel at ease. What a beautiful piece of music.
Oh my heart... My heart
Magnificent, wonderfully transporting. Another place, another time. A peaceful place-time
Transporting ... that's a great description!!!!!

Me too. This is amazing
Listen Third - Big Star my people !
Wow this tune takes its time getting going but it draws you in and entangles your mind and says to you c'mon let's go what are you waiting for? And so along you go with Van the Man for a beautiful ride and no one asks where are we going we're just going and going and we're gone.
Wow! Lovely put.
I sometimes think that the world is not ready for his music - that’s why he never was huge like the Rolling Stones, Beatles etc... if you ask me I think that his music could heal the world in a heartbeat ❤️
We're going into the mystic baby
The Beatles and the Stones.... Who is listening?????
REAL REAL GONE. HA!
A ride worth waiting for, hoping to take the long way around to get to nowhere in particular, stopping to gather a few pictures to fill the gaps where life leaked a little. Beautiful ride.
Perfection. Don't let it end.

For Michael Ison...no blank stares here, Mike!! Van most certainly IS up there with the best singer/songwriters ever. "Avalon Sunset" might be my favorite album of all time.
this composition is truly etheral. Transporting one into connection with something greater inside them. This song floats, and floats, and floats, I'd hate to be a tripper, tripping out, when this song got played, you'd wonder where the heck you are if under the influence...
Thank you so much You Tube for giving us the opportunity to hear again some of our past and for what made music great. Think about it you all, if we didn't have YOU TUBE, our Musical Memories would be lost.
You tube has given me so much music I missed working my ass off as a carpenter raising my family - from the bottom of my soul thank you
I woke up the other morning and realized my first Van Morrison/Chieftains Concert was 46 years ago. Peace from San Francisco.

In the daring night when all the
Stars are shining bright
Squeeze me don't leave me
In the daring night
Galactic swirl in the firmament tonight
Oh with the Lord of the Dance
With the Lord of the Dance
In the daring night
I see Orion and The Hunters
Standing by the light of the moon
In the daring night
In the daring night
And the heart and the soul
As we look up in awe and wonder at the heavens
Oh and we go with the Lord of the Dance
With the Lord of the Dance, the Lord of the Dance
In the daring night
In the daring night when all the stars are shining bright
Oh baby squeeze me, don't leave me, in the daring night
In the firmament we move, we move and we live
And we have our being
Squeeze me don't leave me, leave me in the daring night
In the firmament we move and galactic swirl
And we live and we breathe and have our being
Baby in the daring light
Darling squeeze me squeeze me
Don't ever leave me in the daring night
When all the stars are shining bright
And don't let go, and don't let go
Don't let go don't let go in the daring night
And we move and we move, and we move and we move
Baby don't let go in the daring night
In the daring night when all the stars are
Shining bright
Baby squeeze me don't leave me in the daring night
Capture it all oh with the Lord of the Dance
Oh with the Lord of the Dance in the daring night
With the Lord of the Dance in the daring night
With the lord of the dance and the great Goddess
Of the eternal wisdom
Standing by the light of the moon in the daring night
And the bodies move and we sweat
And have our being
Don't leave me in the daring night
In the daring night when all the stars are
Shining bright
Squeeze me don't leave me
Baby in the daring night
Squeeze me don't leave me
Baby in the daring night

Thanks so much for this ... trying to figure out what he's singing near the end : " When I was a schoolboy I used to love ???????????? Can you help me here? I'm so curious ... thanks!
Susan Jacobson when I was a school boy I used to love my tie, but not as much as I love you now
Prince Wiltshire Ha ha ... gotta love Van!!! Thanks so much.!
Prince Wiltshire I love the way he bends to no one - he can change a lyric whenever he wants can even put a mix of other classics into one long meditation- Wow!!!
When I was a schoolboy I used to love my (school) tie.....
This is my song I want it played in my ears. . When I drift away which is not too far from now.. it's knocking hey I hope it's heavens door... I've always been looking forward for it...( only because I'm tired and a little to moderate pain) and it's funny and hard when you know it's coming.... I give myself. I don't like to count the months.... can anybody else say that ....I'm scared somewhat but I'm not afraid....
I am so glad you have found comfort in this.
That was my father and he passed , I'm writing under him , his death was hard but he found a way to make it beautiful and inspiring, not to mention the fearless he showed in his hopeful solace. I was always proud to call him dad when I observed how he lived , even more proud to call him dad to watch how he died. He is poetry and a branch on the tree that is us all.

My favorite line :)
Can't a grown man also love his tie?
so true. when a boy has a few ties at 10, he loves them. I had some velvet bow ties that went well with my ruffle dress shirt. universal
Oh ... is that what he is saying... ! He loves his tie??????
A wonderful time of childhood - everything’s magical - even a school tie
Beautiful tune
The heavens declare the glory of God,
and the sky above[a] proclaims his handiwork.
2 Day to day pours out speech,
and night to night reveals knowledge.
3 There is no speech, nor are there words,
whose voice is not heard.
4 Their voice[b] goes out through all the earth,
and their words to the end of the world.
In them he has set a tent for the sun,
5 which comes out like a bridegroom leaving his chamber,
and, like a strong man, runs its course with joy.
6 Its rising is from the end of the heavens,
and its circuit to the end of them,
and there is nothing hidden from its heat.
-- Psalm 19
You have no right to ask who is Van butif you want to know who Van the man Morrison is just listening to his music, that will tell you all you will need to know, Where Van came from was a place of the greatest injustices to many people if you happened not to have a certain religion, held certain beliefs and looked too far off people as your leaders. In all my years of listening to Van I never once heard his say anything about wars, he never told anyone to pick up a gun and fight other people, he never told anyone to harm others. his words and music are healing force, I believe that my Celtic cousin is a living saint but he would not want you to think him in this way.
Thanks for the lesson Brother! As someone coming middle class suburbia the only injustices I've seen is jerks cutting me off on the freeway
He’s respected and loved by all of Ireland 🇮🇪
Van came from a very loyalist part of Belfast who were the privileged majority in Belfast at that time Thankfully times and attitudes have changed enormously..It is a different ,better place today.
@@kieransavage3835 Hi Kieran, Van never did any wrong to anyone, it is not right to blame anyone for where they were born or their religion, we should only blame and shame the people who deal do harm and injustice to others. Van is a walking saint, he has helped millions of people. Like you I am very happy that that nasty, cruel and very brutal situation has changed for the better, still has some more ways to go but is heading in the right direction. Take care
