An Idea, after your price point competition is completed, do a blind tasting of the winners from each price group. Enjoy reviews!!!
Didn't they mention doing that in one of the other videos?
Agree
Yes
Agree
I think that is the plan
At the 9:17 mark you have 1920 as the bourbon listed for D instead of the correct 1910. So 1920 is accidentally listed twice in the video in the description.
Yea, there needs to be a corrections on this issue. Hard to believe 1920 was at the bottom
it's obvious it's 1910 because of the darker color
Lol, I had paused the video to pour 1920 to be in sync and then thought I messed up!!!
I wondered if anyone else cought that, two 1920's.
I was think the same thing, I thought I read it wrong.
I had to laugh when Trent said, " I have to be honest this is my first pour of the day....I think "🤣
The Bourbon Junkies go through forward (A to E) and then back through (E to A) to balance out order and a particular one coming on strong or soft and I feel like that small tweak could help with these hard ones. Loving this series!
I swear, the bourbon junkies always start their videos half inebriated! Watch those guys frequently too
They drink out of the bottles 😮 silly kids
They drink out of the bottles 😮 silly kids
Personally, I've always preferred 1910 to 1920 so seeing that play out is reassuring!
My favorite part of these competitions is Kurt's slow descent into being buzzed...
Lol❤
1000%
I’ve never been that impressed with 1920. Always liked the 1910 more because I get more notes out of both the nose and palate. I’m typically a 90-100 proofer though. I haven’t tried anything else on this blind so looks like Rare Breed is next on the shopping list!
I think old Forester 1910 is better, too. 1920 has good flavor but hammers your palate with heat.
@@mec532 Tamping that heat down and drawing out more notes is always possible with adding drops of water, even though it seems impure to some. But yes, it's part of the deal, they're different pours for different times.
I've always preferred the 1910 over the 1920 also

@@cjholcomb9687 thanks! I was definitely late on Wednesday. Glad you enjoy
Never apologize for Rare Breed winning. Everyone knows how fantastic of a bottle it is! I'm lucky enough to be able to pick up those Old Forester bottles for $48 each in my area. The 1792 Full Proof store picks have been a favorite of mine as of late
Why do I trust Kurt's palate and not Trenton's? 1920 = sour band-aid. What in the world?
Really surprised that Rare Breed won after the sour tannic notes that Trent mentioned early on. Also think you may need a new bottle of 1920 if it resembles Ardbeg that much 🤣
18.41 to 18.50 after the camera telling Trent what to vote for.
@@krenarkabashi958what does that even mean?
There’s zero chance they didn’t know what each one was. They knew it was rare breed the moment they tasted it - no chance they didn’t.
Ardbeg? *laphroaig has entered the chat.*
@ryananderson4315 reminds me of the other night when my fiance helped me with a blind but didn't put stickers on the bottles. The blind was between EW BIB and early times BIB, and I remember having Evan williams neat before and thinking it was fine as a mixer but not good neat imo. She forgot what was in which glass, and whatever note I find off-putting in EW BIB hit me the instant I tasted it. She tried to tell me the one I picked was Evan williams but I knew better lol. And my palate is not really that good. It would have been more difficult if it weren't for that one note I'm not a fan of.
Your struggles with these 5 should prove to everyone that you don't have to spend big $$ for great bourbon! TonyB
An excellent lineup and great chemistry between you two as usual. I'm all in on the Rare Breed. Keep up the great work.
According to the labels, 1920 got two pours..😅
Whoops!
Rare Breed is still $45 in my area, but I do see it at some stores for $57. So maybe it’s a winner for both $40-50 and $50-60 categories! I’ve squirreled away an extra bottle (or two) just in case the price jumps or it becomes more difficult to find in the future.
1920 is my favorite. I love the 1910 also ( sometimes I mix them into a 1915.. so good. And Woodford double oak is a close 3rd
Ahh... I have seen someone mention 1915... this is what they are talking about? Maybe I should try it
@@JerboFotius yes.. I make them all the time. Best of both worlds
You're my kinda dude
Love your blind tastings and the surprises that come out of them! Great series guys!
I like 1910 but Rare Breed would be my pick of the two.
For the first time in a long time I actually have everything on your bar top. Those are all good in my book. Love your content guys. Keep up the great work. You are by far my favorite bourbon/spirits channel.
I prefer the 1910 to the 1920 but it's shocking that it came in last
Can you guys do a review of the Old Elk product line? That’d be awesome
Here's what I think you should do....both you and Trent do these tastings separately because I think your opinions are influenced by the other. Do them completely separate and tie your tastings into 1 podcast!
personally, I would have to nose all 5 of them first...ranks the nosings......then taste all 5 and rank the tastings.....then add the scores. I find once I have tasted something the nose isnt the same, hence why nosing all of them first so that I could give them a fair comparison on a fresh nose and ditto with the tastings.
😂 hey someone’s gotta come in last
I thought I was going crazy but B and D were the OF 1920. I'll keep watching and find out which one is the 1910.
Band aids on 1920? I think Trenton is due for another head shave. 😅
I love it when I have the same bottles you guys are blinding. I do it right with ya'll. Mine ended up 5.1920 4. Rare breed 3. 1792 2. Jack barrel proof 1.1910
When you guys mentioned that there weren’t really any defining notes on the 1920, I feel the same way. It’s a good pour, but I don’t pick out much from it and for me it’s $75, don’t think it belongs there. $50 seems much more reasonable.
For the really close blinds like these I'd like to see them revisited at a later date to see how much the results differ.
The JD depends on the barrel of course. I’ve had 3 separate and 2 of the 3 would smoke this lineup.
D is definitely 1910 not 1920 based on the looks and tasting notes as 1920 has already been on the screen
I like 1910 over 1920 as well and the Rare Bread is in my opinion the best bourbon for the price there is.
This might be the bourbon price-point sweet spot. Haven't had the 1792 Full Proof, but I'd take any of the others in a heartbeat.
Before I even watch this video, I want to say - 1910 is better than 1920. Never understand how people prefer the latter. Edit after watching - very interesting Trenton went with A... He said that D "he would pour for breakfast even though he doesn't drink in the AM" and for A, "it's a little bitter." Can't go wrong with either!
The John j bowman would have put up a great fight
“Band-aidy” is the latest Trenton colorful description. I am now looking for these in every upload. Cheers!
🤣 25:10 “You are excommunicated from the channel!” Had me rolling
Great shows guys. That's a tough price range with a lot of great choices. The only one I don't own is the 1792 FP because I can't find it anywhere. But I was happy to see WTRB and 1910 go one-two because those are two favorites. Keep up the good work.
Bowman SB had my vote. Can't believe it didn't make the cut!
1920 won Bourbon Madness two years ago and now comes in last 😮
Having the John J now. When I find it, it is usually $49.99, which is a steal, but can be hard to find which is probably why some didn't vote for it. It is fantastic.
JD SBBP is among my favorites, I only get it around $65 where I'm at but Rare Breed is like a sore pecker - hard to beat! I am fortunate to get it for around $48 as well, love the content gentlemen; enjoy the weekend!
I always keep six bottle of RareBreed as back ups. Truly the best shelf accessible bourbon for the price point. I get it usually around $55 after taxes. I have two bottles of JD Sbbp but have not tried them yet; one is 130.5 and the other is 129 proof.
😂
5:36 says B: OF1920
10:26 also says D OF1920
11:59 says B OF1920 and D OF1910
1920 always tastes incredible to me, but when I do blinds it always falls behind. I completely understand 😂
We agree on the Rare Breed over a big chunk of ice. Wonderful stuff. Great review as usual.
Great video! Both the bowman’s and Clyde mays are two of my favorites! As is 1920!
I have no issues with anyone of these bottles. It is always amazing to me how my bottles of these favor and taste depending on the day and time of year. These are great bottles.
I bought a bottle of 1920 based on the positive reviews. All I get from 1920 (new label) is a medicinal red fruit note. The nose is wonderful and then the taste is just betrayal sadly. It’s definitely not the worst thing I’ve had, but it’s not a bottle I’ll buy again. 1910 on the other hand…
Great show! I can't imagine how hard it was for you guy's to pick a favorite, as they are all awesome bourbons. I would love to see you repeat this series with rye whiskey's and see how that goes, which would be really fun. A Scotch series would be interesting too but would probably be somewhat difficult, especially at the lower price points.
Love me some Wild Turkey Rare Breed and especially for the price along with OF 1920.Great review guys!
I stand by the fact that the OF 1920 is best on a neck pour. Once that bottle gets half way down it deteriorates pretty quickly. I also noticed at the store today that Rare Breed has had a label update. There's a red barrel proof sticker at the bottom of the label now. I hope they updated the crappy cork!
Just got a bottle - and the crappy cork came apart immediately.
@@MichaelSmith-ms3jwI've never had that issue with Rare Breed, do you torque the cork 90 degrees or something?
Thank you Trenton. I thought I 30:18 was the only one in the world that thought 1920 tastes like a band aid. I like it, but like you both, that would have been my 5th pick also.
I totally think there should be a blind with two 1920s in the flight, just to mess with you. Great video, love WT RB and 1910... and 1920 and JD SB, have not had the 1792 yet.
That's a good idea because I've had bottles of 1920 that are drastically different from each other.
Now you guys need to do a blind taste test of all your number ones from all price points. Overall winner!
In my area (central Ky) these are a little different. I think it’s so interesting how the prices can differ:
Rare Breed: 55
1920: 59
1910: 55
1792 full proof: 80+
Jack single barrel: 70+
Nice, WTRB and OF 1910 are actually my favorites below $60 at this time. Have not had 1792 or the JD SBBP, will have to try soon.
JJ Bowman is 42-45 in my part of Texas…just bought three and love it most even though it’s below your $50 min.. otherwise the WT. Rare gets my vote followed by the 1792 FP! Thanks 🙏🤠🇺🇸🇨🇱🥃
For me this is the best price bracket for bourbon. Quality is fantastic but not insanely expensive, these can be a casual drinker without breaking the bank.
Vindicated! I think 1920 is way overrated, and I buy every 1792 Full Proof I can find. Also, Rare Breed rules.
I think my flight would go JD SBBP, 1920, 1792 Fullproof, Rare Breed, 1910.
I'm with Trenton. I have to give a guess on what I'm tasting.
I'm questioning how much his taste has changed. 1920 won for him 2 years ago and now goes to last.
I haven't tried 1910 (but will need to soon), but the order for my particular bottles, to my particular taste, is 1920, 1792, Rare Breed, Jack D. I am just not as into the Rare Breed as much as everyone on UA-cam is. Possibly I am still a novice or something.
Rare Breed ordinaire vs Rare Breed NCF ? I think that'd be some good content. Always pleasant to tune in my bourbon family, blessings !
Hey bourbon lovers. I'm just getting into 1792 Small batch. It's like candy. Tell me what to try next?
I need to come visit your area soon. Your prices are dreamy. I thought so lady when you talked of WDO for still under $50, and more JD SiB for under $60?! You guys have it great!
And I’ve never even seen 1792 FP on a shelf, let alone under $60.
Y'all can get Jack SiB BP for under $60? Lucky! The 750ml is $70 plus tax in NC. It's not often I hear about prices in a control state being higher.
I live on Ohio where liquor stores have to sell at MSRP.
JDSBBP is NOT in tke $50-$60 price range.
I believe retail is $64.99.
Band-Aid??? Really?!?! Lol I always get nice vanilla notes when I drink the 1920.
1920 the best for me 🥃
Also surprised about 1920. Great video, gents! Thanks.
I just did this blind and got very different results
1st 1910
2nd Jack Daniels sbbp
3rd 1792 fp
4th 1920
5th rare breed
Was the Clyde Mays 5 really that good? I found a Clyde Mays 5/ Eagle Rare store pick bundle for $100 that I’ve been considering
I find your lack of Woodford Double Oak disturbing 😂. 1910 or 1920 are always on my bar, alongside 1897.
Fellas, I really like your reviews; however, this one isn’t ready for prime time. Perhaps you could define a tasting process, award points for each category then sum the points for your line-up. Tonight was a bit unfocused. I enjoy spending time with you all but I didn’t get much ROI from 31 minutes of review. Don’t mean to be critical; I am a patron. Maybe consider a tasting format next time instead of wondering through the park. All my best. Cheers

Kurt: "How much water you have over there?"
*takes Trenton's water
*There is a sink right behind them
Though, to be fair, I don't drink my tap water either.
Surprised 1920 went out first. Goes to show… you just never know. I think this demonstrates how the palette changes, how bottles/barrels are different, and how even each pour may hit different.
I would love to see Wild Turkey 101 vs. Wild Turkey Single Barrel 101. I think they taste the same.
Am I the only one that doesn't like 1910? Tastes like a neutered Woodford double oaked with banana notes to me. Tough choice between 1920, Rare Breed and the JD. Never tried the 1792 but their other stuff is always great.
I’ve done several blinds with rare breed and 1920. Always get them right. Two of my absolute faves. Costco recently had both at great prices. I can never find 1792 full proof and have always wanted to try it. Fun review as always.
He’s absolutely correct. Did a tasting of a few with my dad last night and we agreed, the 1920 is kinda bandaid-y. Loved the 1910.
Can anyone out of these fine bunch of viewers, tell a guy where to get a bottle of Old Forester 1910 in Canada? All I seem to find is the 1920. So far all the American websites I find it on do not ship outside the states.
Specifically located in Nova Scotia Canada.
Thanks in advance!
I just happened to be blind tasting three of these when I started this video : 1) OF 1920 2) JW single barrel cask strength 3) WT Rare.
I said it on Patreon when voting and I'll say it again, I don't get the fascination with Old Forrester. I figured I would be the odd man out, but it's funny that they chose 1920 dead last. Everyone raves over it, but more and more I see it falter in blinds like this. Maybe it's NOT just me! 😄
i've always thought 1920 (and many Old Forester products) are over rated based on the price you pay for them. they aren't in my favorite flavor profile and i don't think they are worth $60.
Where are guys finding john j bowman for 60 bucks. I see it everywhere for 130 bucks
I think your tasters must have been off today to rip 1920 so hard! I do love the 1910, though, and for me it really depends on what I'm in the mood for. This really was a great lineup, and I understand the difficulty. And congrats on almost getting the on-screen labels correct, Trenton! 😂
Y’all should do all the number ones against each other! From each category. At the end!!!! 20$ to $100.
All fantastic picks, but I agree that 1792 Full Proof is wildly underrated. I always have it on my bar, and it is easy to find store picks in my area.
And while I still like 1920, after many bottles since it came out, I have to agree with the opinion out there that it went downhill a little bit when they changed labels. Maybe my imagination, or maybe it just lost its novelty to my palate, but I don't think it is as good as it was three to four years ago.
Great video as always. I’m hoping Barrel Vantage and Russell’s Reserve Single Barrel make it into the next video.
I appreciate you labeling the drinks as they are trying them. I'm confused about what B and D are in the naming, they both said 1920.
Great videos guys, love the blind taste test. One thing however, never apologize to a brand on behalf of your pallette. It knows what it likes better than you, and it doesn't discriminate against $-$$$$.😊
WT RB wins many a blind. Don't know why people don't drink it more or what the bias is from sight tasting. My first taste sold me. If you could only have one bourbon, that would be the pick.
How JD BP is in this bracket is beyond me. I live in a control state and it's 69 plus tax, pushing it into the 70s. Apparently I need to be on the lookout when I'm around there to save a few bucks on it.
John J. Bowman didn't make it because people still don't really.know about it. If they only knew it had ties to Buffalo Trace. But I don't mind it stays a secret and I will continue to enjoy the 5 bottles I already have. #cheers 🥃🥃
Can you do a review of Mcfarlane's Reserve 13yr Bourbon finished in Cabernet Sauvignon? It is my all time favorite and I am surprised how underestimated it is in the market nowadays!
Great video! I loved watching you both struggle, now I know it's not just me. TonyB
I've never been impressed with 1920. No surprise that it finished at the bottom. I own more backup bottles of Rare Breed regular than any other whiskey.
What on earth did you guys eat beforehand to place 1920 last??? No friggin’ way…
Really surprised John Bowman didn’t make it, guess because it’s hard to find
I've gotten a strong Band-Aid note from Old Forester 1920 several times before. So Trenton is not crazy!
Can’t speak for 1792, but the results seem about right to my palate. I would have guessed JD as last, though.
