Can you please state the exact equipment that you use, the Tripod, the other part that goes to the tripod that is needed for this teleprompter? Would greatly appreciate it, thank you!
UPDATE January 19, 2020: Heads-up, guys: this review is three years old. I just learned that the model I reviewed here has been replaced by a newer - and quite different - ABS unit. Haven’t had it in hand, so I can’t offer an opinion on it. I still use the one I reviewed here every week, so I can still tell you the old one is great.
Would that all UA-cam reviews were this good. I subscribed to the channel after 15 seconds. It's so refreshing to see a review presented by a calm, knowledgeable individual who, as an unexpected bonus, has one of the most pleasant voices I've ever heard.
@@JamalNichols From what I can hear, he is using a lav under the shirt. If you turn up and listen closely enough, you can hear his shirt/chest hair rustling against he mic. I do agree that other than the rustling, his gain structure sounds perfect, and his voice EQ sounds 👌 with that mic. If you're interested in lav tricks check out this private facebook group (hopefully you can get an invite) "Lavaliere Mic Hiding Techniques" facebook.com/groups/339658866481927/
gioknows gioknows I think it is the voice. You just cannot mess up this voice. And the intonation. And the eloquence. I mean he is presenting a teleprompter but it seems like he doesnt use one to talk flawlessly for 7-8 minutes. I sometimes think he must have been a stage actor for half of his life?
@@TheOneMonk His voice is great- but the lav under the shirt will give him that amazing BOOM. Trust me it sounds great with other techniques but this is the best for boomy. (well except for eating a mic).
UPDATE from PromptBox: "The SmartPhone accessory shelf, used when scrolling with a SmartPhone, [is] not needed with the tablet in use. "If necessary to remove tablet during shoot, unscrew the back two thumb screws and lift the top with removing the tablet from the back of the top with the two front side thumb screws in place, no need to remove all four to remove the tablet top. "The PRomptBox mounts on a HD cam with an accessory available for shoe mount which mounts within the slot of the tablet top, allowing for adjustability"
Three Blind Men and An Elephant Productions Hi! What Teleprompter do you recomend when using cellphone as a camera and an IPad mini as a Teleprompter ?
@@3BMEP Thank you. One last question. The iPad looks like "not controllable" while inside the box and you need to remove 4 screws to get it outside. So i need a remote, right? What do you use? Bluetooth keyboard?
@Jaythan Greenfield did it this way before i got a teleprompter App. This is working if you train. But for me, i am filming people who are not. A teleprompter is there a much better and faster way.
Hi Hugh,Sorry, but I just saw this...If you take that top plate to a machine shop, they can easily and cheaply notch the thumbscrew holes for you. That will allow you to need only to partially loosen those thumbscrews.Larry (Former Souderton native)
There is a larger size of this available now that perfectly fits a full size iPad like the Air 2 - I actually pre-ordered it from B&H and received it recently. WOW it is fantastic. When I saw the design and how it was flipped over, I just said "why didn't anyone think of this sooner?" and immediately ordered it. I also imagined every single detail you mentioned in this video before even receiving it, so just wanted to say you're spot-on with all of the points!!
Just to add an update, the device on the right looks a lot like the Teleprompter PAD - £160 in the UK. Certainly the current version of the PAD is more substantial than the one being used here. Also, because the metal plates are are thicker, the screw heads are are now recessed so that it's possible to sit it on a flat surface. The black cloth is also more of a bag with closes around your camera lens.
Great video quality. Great information. Very clear and logical and rational analysis of the pros and cons of each teleprompter. Excellent audio quality. You are definitely a pro and you get an A+ for this review. Thank you.
Interesting teleprompter. You have the best review on the device, in fact the ONLY review. The manufacturer doesn't have much on their product except some AutoCAD like demo. Perplexing, since they're "in the industry." They should pay you to put out a series, it'd be a smart move since you've done an awesome job here.
my old and new company had the prompter on the right. Both companies had to use it b/c it was the only budget option but neither company could get it to fit on a damn tripod.
The only improvement I would request, is to tell us more about where to get the rails, and why they are better than the single rail that comes with the PromptBox.
I like smallrig. The single rail that comes with the 'box is not a rail but a bracket. Rail system gives me more versatility across a wider range of scenarios.
I got Parrot but the Panasonic 12mm f/1.2 was too wide and you can see the frame of the teleprompter in the footage. I am curious if this one will have the same problem too.
