Video Description -
Hey everybody! I've just completed my review of the Glide Gear TMP 100 teleprompter (auto cue device - whatever you wanna call it). It is easily one of the best teleprompter setups for tablets in its price range. This Glide Gear teleprompter is certainly not a cheap piece of kit - you get what you pay for with kit like this - especially when you're talking about beam splitter glass which can vary wildly in quality. The Glide Gear TMP100 is about $200 at the time of the review and it is well worth the money. It is a great portable teleprompter kit. Built solid, nothing you dont need, adaptable to almost any kind of camera or studio suite, and very easy to use.
You will need a tablet and a some sort of teleprompter app or teleprompter software. But you can get inexpensive tablets used on amazon super easy.
Once you get this kit and your tablet, you'll be up and running in less than 10 minutes.
If you have any questions about the Glide Gear TMP100 teleprompter, reach out to me in the comment section down below!

Best review I’ve seen on this topic. Thanks for actually demonstrating how it works... from set up to real life usage. Your video saved me a ton of time on research and how to use this equipment.
Nicely done. I'm looking to get a new teleprompter for my science shows. Looks like this would work nicely!
That would be cool!
The company should hire you to make their videos for them, thanks for this!
Don’t make me blush... thanks Tech Deals!
True. I bought it because of this video and I guess many more did the same.
After buying and returning four different teleprompter between 50 and 250€ from amazon i think i FINALLY FOUND the best for the price! Thanks for the review!
I'm curious which ones you bought previously... What were the issues ? I'm thinking to give this one a try (I've never used a teleprompter, so I'm not entirely sure what to be aware of) . Thanks! : )
@@stevelibby3 hehe okay. I've bought "Teleprompter by Leeventi" which is 59€, but totally plastic crap. then "Mugast Teleprompter" which was 120€ but unusable with every camera bigger than a smartphone. "Bestview Smartphone Teleprompter" for 91€ was a nice idea, you attach the teleprompter to the lens, which is really handy. BUT you couldnt read anything since the "glass" was crap. then i had the FILMCITY teleprompter which comes in a nice bag and has some really nice quality for like 220€ but it was a pain in the ass to build up and there for unusble for.
i just got the gear glide tmp100 and must say: damn! superb quality, no plastic and set up in under 1 minute. unbelievable good quality for the price
THOMAS TAY IMOEHL awesome thanks! I just bought a used one from eBay and excited to try it out! My only worry is eye movement from reading the text
Thanks for the feedback Thomas! happy to help!
That teleprompter and PPT Mirror tool that converts slides into software is an ultimate combination for 2021 online videos.
Thank you for the review.
Big time! Excellent call out.
If anyone else sees this… you can do this with minimal extra tools/software.
For you PC folks out there you can use your computer with an app called Duet + your iPad. For Mac users… you can just cast your Mac to your iPad via wifi.
This video is great. It provides a nice overview of the Glide Gear TMP100.
EXTREMELY helpful video. You just got them sale! I hope this company really appreciates the work you put into this, because I most certainly did.
I have just bought the TMP100 and it works perfectly. I use a Nikon D850 with an 85mm Ff1.4 Nikkor lens. To add to the production, as the D850 has a “clean” HDMI OUT I have added the new Atoms Shogun 7 with a 3TB Angelfish SSD. Straight into FCPX and, hopefully, I can start my channel. Thanks for such a great tutorial on the teleprompter.
Very good review! I hate the state of UA-cam reviews these days where people who have zero experience with something will say, "LOOK ITS A TELEPROMPTER! BUY IT! ITS THE BEST!" Where as you actually did research, went into the mechanics of this one, compared it to others, and gave a hard opinion. Props, keep it up!
I know this is a relatively old video, but I'm just now in need of this equipment and wanted to say your video was perfectly informative. Thank you.
Thank you !
Hi, Loved your video. I am bit sceptical about using a 16mm prime lens with a teleprompter. Because I am worried about the iPad coming in the frame. What’s your experience? Please try it and let me know. Because I am planning to buy one. And I don’t have many lenses
I just discovered this while learning about the wonderful device I just got in. Super! And, Thank You!
Fantastic Job and Review - Super Helpful and worth the time to watch.
Thank you! I just purchased this teleprompter. Appreciate your tutorial and your insights. Great job.
Thanks for explaining that so that even I (thing-y challenged) can understand.
The most complete review I've ever seen. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 I'll use your links if I buy.
This review is absolutely amazing. You should have way more subscribers and views.
Keep up the great work.
Nice video. I would have liked to have seen a bit more on usage and how it keeps up, does it always keep up, does it have a remote to use aswell,
Hey dude... the way you explained it is professional and clear. Very useful video to know about the pros & cons. Of course you are honest in describing the product in and out.
Thanks for the feedback Suresh! happy to help!
amazing i got so much clarity about teleprompter buying online you explain very well about size and everything
thank you
excellent presentation and despite the length, i stayed with you. Look forward to your other videos!
Thank you for that feedback, always interested in constructive criticism. Being more concise has always been a problem for me haha
This is the best video on this teleprompter. Thank you ❤️ 💙
Great review but most importantly... GREAT tutorial! I bought this teleprompter thanks to your video and it's amazing! A time saver for sure! Less time shooting and editing videos. Thank you so much!
Happy to help Harlenee! Keep filmin!
thanks for the review! just ordered one, and about to set it up, thanks for the helpful review!
Excellent review, Kyle...I have been looking for a teleprompter and this one is in my top 2 choices.
Great review, now I know which device I have to purchase. Well done!
thanx, this review sorted my dilemma of which one to buy
Great review, better than what is provided by the company itself :)
Thanks a lot for the feedback Ashraf, thats high praise!
Thanks for the video. Can you please tell me what the difference is between the Glide Gear TMP100 & Glide Gear TMP 500?
Great video; I decided to go ahead with this automated electronic queuing device. I went to their store and this appears to still be their latest and greatest.
Thanks for the advice, I had already purchased this and needed to mount it. This was fine, if you bring the camera in closer when you’re attaching the teleprompter to the tripod and show the screws, that would’ve cemented the experience, Keep doing your thing. I’m working on pairing my remote now. Ugh🤣Gave you a LIKE👍🏽
Thanks for the feedback! Happy to help!
Thanks for the tutorial. I'm in the process of selecting the equipment I need for training videos and this really helped me. Thanks again.
Happy to help Louis!
Excellent job reviewing the product, very helpful for me thank you.
Great video. Please recommend a good, cheap or free app goes with it. Do we need some sort of remote also ?
Very helpful! I think I will get this one.
Great video. I’ve been getting by with printing my scripts and semi memorizing them while referencing the print. It all works fine but for 10 minutes of edited footage, I have about 30 minutes of recording. I would love to be able to simply avoid errors when recording simply to save editing time and file size! I think I’ll pick this up 👍
Thanks for the feedback! happy top help!
Extremely helpful video and well presented. Some great tips and advice here!
I brought a Padcaster Parrot 2 telephone that fits on your camera. it was great size but caused auto-focus issues hanging off the lense. eventually abandoned it. Think i might grab one of these.
Yes, I have used that type of system before, not my favorite 😕
Hi, will it fit a 11 inch i pad pro 2018 model. Thanks and regards, great vdo🎉
Hi Kyle,
Thank you for the details......Have you ever try using the combination of PPT Mirror tool and a Teleprompter using Tablet with Powerpoint presentation slides as script?
Great video! Thank you for making this. very helpful.
Fantastic review. Detailed and very easy to follow. Thank you for sharing your experience and perspectives!
Did the teleprompter software come with the kit? If not, what app are you using? It looks like it was cueing to what you were saying and advanced the text automatically. Thanks for the help.
Great review...have you tried mounting an iPhone in lieu of a camera as the recording device? Result?
The issue I had with this is that the top is tilted so far down that the field of view angle is very very low which requires you to sacrifice composition by raising the camera to a level that puts the person’s forehead on the top third. Maybe there is a way to lift that up an inch, but we found it cut off the text when composed appropriately.
Hey Kyle, helpful video, going to get the Glide Gear. Also, can you advise me on a tripod and fluid head please? What are you using?
Wondering if hood cover comes all the way down to the iPad.
Nice video! 💛😎
I have this and it is
Bayo AO Thx much, Bayo
Very good tutorial, clear and to the point!
Awesome video thank you and what tripod are you using?
Amazing video, thank you! Would this work with a Sony A7SIII? Would you recommend a quick release plate on top of the teleprompter plate or it would be too high?
Hi there Ale, thanks for e feedback! Happy to help! I personally have been using the Sony Alpha line of cameras with this tripod… several generations in fact. Currently I use a A7SIII with GM lenses and everything fits and works just fine. I have not used any QD plates in between the teleprompter plate and my camera. I think that it would fit, unless you are using a very large lens… But I am not sure if the “juice would be worth the squeeze”. It takes ~15 seconds to unscrew the camera.
What’s the reason for wanting the QD plate?
Great video/review! Very informative, which convinced me to use your link to purchase one myself!
Hi Lenny & Sandi! I really appreciate your feedback and support! It definetly helps me out! Please let me know if you have any further questions on this prompter ☺️
Thanks for the review. I got one for my Canon C300 mk I. It does not work well with my Canon 10-18mm EFS lens. No matter how you adjust the zoom, about 10% of the top of the shot is blocked and the same happens to the sides if you zoom out very far. Part of this may be due the C300 being taller than a DSLR. I may be able to fix that by coming off that 45 degree angle but don't know how that'll effect readability until I try it. Also, the black cloth covering has roughly a 5" diameter opening even when the drawstring was pulled as tight as possible. That leaves too much slack and room for light to get in. You can use a zip tie to tighten it down but that adds a step.
Oh dear, yeah, the C300 is definetly a bit tall from bottom to center lens. But that 10-18mm is really wide. I would imagine that if you gave a slightly longer lens a try, you may be able to get away with it. I would not try to mess with the angle of the glass, however. I think that may cause more trouble than its worth with framing.
On other thing you could try... is taking the hood of entirely. That will remove it from view of the wide lens. If you film in a darker environment, you may not have any issues. If you do have issues, you could use another cloth and arrange it to customize your setup.
I hope that helps Bill! Thanks for reaching out, I am happy to help!
Thanks, Kyle. Ultimately, I moved the camera way forward and managed to make it work with the 10-18 lens. But I also reached out to Glide Gear and am probably going to switch over to the TMP 750. It’s camera height adjustable, the glass angle is adjustable and it has a larger glass.
Great job! Thank you for your time and expertise.
Excellent review. I’m also interested in knowing whether you could use a smaller camera such as the new Sony ZV-1 with this teleprompter. Thanks in advance for your advise.
Awesome video, clear instructions, logical order, at a good pace, and super useful, thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Where did you get your tripod from?
My brother kyle. Good video. I like the teleprompter. Can you please share the brand of your tripot? Thank you. keep it coming. Blessings
Great job, Kyle. I am a newbie to this business and I am hoping to make some videos on teaching and learning - I was a high school teacher for 27 years and now I am writing on education issues. Can I give you one linguistic tip to make your videos even better? Try not to double your adjectives/adverbs e.g. 'really really' or 'very very' - most of the time we don't need one 'very' or 'really' - we NEVER need two. Hope you didn't mind me saying that. You are an excellent presenter as opposed to a really really good one. THANKS.
Hi, really enjoyed your video!! Question: on a budget. I have an older but expensive pro Panasonic camcorder - was around $2500-entry level pro. Can I use that with this affordable TMP100? The other question/challenge is: I really simply want to work off a desktop with a virtual background on a conference call or something like that using Zoom, Google Meet. So, I would want to position it either without a tripod on some books or something that could elevate it on my desktop like I'm doing a conference call. Could this work for me? Any tips on how to set that up? Again, I basically want to do a zoom-type conference call with a laptop on a desk and be able to read the script. Thanks!
Do you have any example video of where the teleprompter worked great? - Amazing video btw. Thanks for making this!
Hi there Giovani, if you look at my review video of the Godox V1... honestly most of my review videos... I am using my teleprompter.
Happy that this was video was helpful for you!
Simple, easy, and great review
Any recommendations on affordable camera?
Hi there Hisham, there is a lot to that question, I may do a video camera buying guide. I would go mirrorless DSLR because video cameras have a lot less control/options. From there, I would figure out what your spending range is. I personally shoot sony, and some affordable options are Sony a6300/6400/6500/6600. Those all have the same settings and options and workflow as the higher end sony a7/a9 series.
Do you know what you are trying to produce? What is your price range? I would be happy to help further.
Great video! I bought this because of your excellent review. What do you recommend for cleaning the glass, finger touches? How close do you think the lens should be to the glass? Thanks.
Hi there Alison, happy to help! Thank you for the feedback. you can clean the glass with the same sort of things you’d clean eyeglasses or a computer monitor with. Microfiber cloths and some mild cleaning spray. The beam splitter glass has film on it to keep it reflective so anything to harsh could damage that.
GREAT video! Just the one i need for my zoom calls. Please, one question. I just bought the canon M50 mk2 with the adapter for continous power. Does the base of the telepromter block the cable for the canon?
Thank in advance and sorry for my English; i'm still learning
Have a Productive and Healthy Day!
Hey there Freddy! Thanks for reaching out. I am not as familiar with that model... if it comes directly from the bottom from a false battery... there may be enough room. Otherwise, you can just get a little risers/spacer plate and free up that room to run a cable. You shouldn’t have any problems ultimately getting that rig to work.
@@SeeItLoud Thank you so much for your answer!
I found this option on Amazon Ikan IK-RSR3 ( www.amazon.com/-/es/Ikan-ik-rsr3-3-Inch-c%C3%A1mara-elevador-negro/dp/B00PW2WFYU?language=en_US )
i couldn`t find any good quality - cheaper option. Do you have any suggestion?
Hey there Freddy, sorry I missed this comment 😬
But that option definetly looks super robust - I would say it would be overkill, but I normally go for that when I’m putting my valuable equipment on kit!
Nice and valuable kit. What remote do you use or recommend for the script app?
And, what tripod with the arm are you using in this video?
Thanks in advance. Have a good night!
There's no remote for this needed as it's voice controlled.
Really great video, very well explained, just ordered one, thanks a lot 👍
Happy to help, Chris!
Any chance I could use this with an iPhone as camera instead of DSLR? Hope to upgrade to a DSLR but not ready now...planning future
Really great tutorial well thought out and structured. Really helped my decision making thanks
Thanks for r feedback Neil!
Great work!
Hey! Thanks for the video! What tripod are you using?
Great video. Just shopping for a teleprompter myself for self tape auditions. This seems very affordable but are there any options or features that are missing from this unit that you wished you had? I dont mind paying more as long as it fits my needs. I would mainly be using the teleprompter off camera right (or left) for an eye line. Thanks.
Great info on the product but also the app - now I'm ready to go!
Excellent review! You made my decision to purchase one much easier.
Thanks for the feedback! Happy to help!
just perfect ! u must be hired by the MARVEL CINEMA IN NEXT ENDGAME MOVIES...
great review & channel. look forward to more reviews
Thanks for the feedback Scott!
Thanks! How far away can you be from the iPad and still have the voicetrack work properly with Promptsmart Pro?
I never stress tested it, but I sit around 10 feet away. I would imagine if you were in a quiet environment you could be pretty darn far. As a rule of thumb... I’d say you would have a hard time reading the prompter by the time it couldn’t hear you.
@@SeeItLoud thanks for your quick response. I tested the Lite version of the app yesterday in a quiet studio and it worked at about 12 feet.
This helped a lot thanks.
I do a lot of e casting. So it would help me a lot on finding more about lightning I have 3 Neewer Led 660 s and how to do better e castings
Thanks
hello, i have a question. can I shoot also on smarphone? or i need a regular camera. thank you
Can you use an iPhone 14Pro as your camera with this TMP 100 and another smartphone as the teleprompter?
Excellent video. Thanks Kyle
Thanks Jay, happy to help! And I appreciate the feedback
On the promoter software the text was scrolling along as you said none of the words on the screen so I’m wondering if the promoter software actually is just counting words rather than recognizing the actual words. Add that the software won’t support old Tablets like iOS for iPad 2 era devices which Do have the capability to scroll basic text makes me worry about having to upgrade Tablets just to maintain functionality. Nothing like generating electronic waste as corporate policy.
Overall it’s a great bit of kit, and for that Demo well done.
Hi there, and thanks for the feedback! Happy to help. As for PromptSmart Pro, it works darn well... but it is far from perfect. But since I don’t have anyone to run prompter for me, it is a great help. At times where the voice recognition is failing, I just switch it to regular scrolling or control it with the iPhone app on another device. Hope this helps answer your question! 😀
Thanks for a great review. Can you recommend a good light for small room?
There are a lot of options here and could definetly be a good topic for a video - but there are a lot of folks out there talking about this subject. I would recommend the following as a start: geni.us/yLJw3pV
Its inexpensive and can get you started working with lighting. If you need to upgrade later... you will still be able to use this as an accent light or fill light.
I just purchase and installed, and trying to figure out how to attach a mic that mounts on the camera's shoe mount. The mic mount does have a threaded hole but the items provided with the prompter does not work and looks like a smaller diameter. There is a hole of each side and in the advertisement it shows a mic and small light attached, but no details as to how to attach. Any recommendations?
sounds good, will try this out. Thanks
Hi Kyle, pls is there any space on the teleprompter frame that allows mounting of light and mic. Secondly, will a wide angle lens catch the inside of the teleprompter while shooting a video
Hi there! There aren’t any built in mounts for lights and mics. I personally have a cage on my camera that I mount things on, while it is mounted in the rig. As for wide angle lenses, you can move the lens closer to the glass to improve angles. I have personally used a 24mm in the rig.
Are you able to confirm what tripod you're using in this video with the teleprompter, please? Thank you
Great video bro!
Appreciate the feedback! happy to help
Great review! Thanks so much. Actually bought one after this review.
Thank you for your in depth review man! Just getting one for myself:)
Happy to help man! Happy shooting!
Very informative video. What are your thoughts on using TMP100 with iPhone Pro as the camera? (I currently am using iPhone Pro mounted to a tripod)
The main thing you’ll need to worry about is audio. You’ll certainly need external audio source because there will be some barriers for the phone mic to pick up the audio. But as far as a camera... it will work just fine once you mount it in the chassis! Happy shooting!
@@SeeItLoud Thanks for the quick reply - I use an external mic and audio interface so I should be good.
'For the sake of this video i am gonna keep saying teleprompter' - ha ha ha!!
Liked video and subscribed!
Thanks, Kyle. Very helpful review.
Great review! Looks like you would need to remove the camera from this unit to swap out battery. And no way to use with of ac adapter(with dummy battery) for long shoot.
Hey there, thanks for the feedback! But I think if you used a rise plate you could use a dummy battery and have room for the cord to come out to power. What I do, with my semi new camera, is plug it into a USB-C cable providing power. Your results may vary depending on your camera, but I think if you have a recent camera, you can have the camera charging via USB while it is on and recording.
Hope that helps!
The best run through I have seen on this. I’m on the fence with this and the parrot. I have a small camera with pancake style lens and worried the canvas covering will be hard to get out of the way of the lens as it looks like it ripples up in the way a bit in the bottom side. Do you think would still work with small lenses?
Hey Simon, I’ve gone as wide as 16mm in this rig. You can move the camera/lens right up to the glass. There’s a LOT of room to scoot it up or back depending on the lens you’re using. I think you’ll be just fine. Hope that helps!
Why do some models of the TMP100 have a larger, more rigid hood on them?
This was a very helpful video. Thank you so much.
Hi Clarice, I’m happy to help. Happy filming!
Please can you confirm that a 16mm lens is ok with this.
I am worried that it may be too wide and get the promoter in frame.
I use a Sony a 6400 with sigma 1.4 16mm.
Thank you for your help 🙏🏽
I know this is an issue with the parrot
Hi Fala! You should definetly be good. While I don’t own that particular lens, the way that the rig works I believe that it would. The 1/4-20 screw you use to mount your camera is in a channel that slides forward and back. You are able to scoot your camera so the lens is right up against the glass. If you did that, I don’t think a 16mm (especially on a APS-C sensor like on the a6400) will catch the edges of the frame.
@@SeeItLoud amazing.thank you for the reply! I'll use your affiliate link to get one
Thanks Fala, I appreciate the support!
Kyle, the tablet I will be using is 11 an 1/16" wide externally (Lenovo YOGA). Will the 'inner' dimensions of the side brackets of this teleprompter allow for this or should I shop around for a different teleprompter that will accommodate this size? The reviews on Amazon are mixed. Some say it will work with a iPad Pro (close to same size as my YOGA) while others say the iPad Pro doesn't fit between the brackets. Tried finding the inner dimensions online but no luck. Please advise.
Thanks for the introduction but missing useful information like which shortest focal length can be used.
What video fluid head are you using with the is teleprompter?
