Technically the spikes release themselves when you get near, so actually the spike is trying to kill mr knight, and therefore the spike is at fault, and the knight only pushed the spike away in self defence, in which the spike hurt those bystanders. (who were btw not innocent).
I'm not sure if the true ending is possible, since you have to do the final hit with the nail But _technically_ you can't see the soul meter after the final hit so we have no proof you got soul

@@MrCoffeeMan8525 actually, i just did it. it is entierly possible to do the white palace without getting soul. there are only 2 kinda tricky sections, one you have to pogo off some spikes with a roof to not run into wingsmoulds and one where you have to dreamshield hit them to get them out of the way, but definetly doable
As a Hollow Knight fan who knows way too much about the game there were a TON of moments where I was like "actually you don't require ___" or whatever but you always pointed that out yourself shortly after. Great vid.
Fun fact: every item in the game (except the nail and movement keys I believe) can be skipped on its own, cdash and claw being the hardest glitchless, and dreamnail and jumping relying on glitches

Seriously though the all glitflches speedrun for hollow knight is some serious black magic tomfuckery Long story short it involved cramming a godseeker game and a normal game into the same save file to start the game with every upgrade, then no clipping around the map and beating the game in a bit over 4 minutes.

He needs someone to talk to! 4. Gravity doesn't Matter. You can send spikes flying towards anything if you just hit them. No gravity needed. 5. Free every Grub. All grubs you see have a home and a will. Free them if you can so they can live full, happy lives. 6. You can only use glitches once. Everyone has 1 chance to use a glitch, but no more! This reminds me of the time I went into the grimm boss fight purley with the intention to learn his pattern and while I was still figuring out the best times to heal my weaver charm that I had brought for passive soul regen ended up killing the boss
This was SO GOOD. I got so excited when you mentioned Dreamshield to beat the game, that charm is usually really bad and never used due to its high cost in notches, but it found its glory in this challenge. Great job!

honestly I love when these kinds of challenges include some variety of semantics regarding what is and isn't considered hurting enemies. not only does it make the challenge possible to finish, but it results in plenty of jokes I can't get enough of
cheeky zoom to hide a little soul collected on the entry to the deepnest hotspring ;) *(though understandably because it's avoidable with an inventory drop, hard-fall cancel)*
TBH the only rule is no soul. Technically glitches are fine imo. But the fact you only needed one is amazing. I almost want to see this as a legit speedrun.
I think you’re allowed to hit the False knight because hitting him doesn’t give you any soul, and just knocking him down and waiting for him to stand up again without hitting him again will let you skip the fight
There's really no benefits to that, not only you are softlocked after you consume vs since you can't kill the bauldur, but vs is also useless outside that because consumes soul
Also if you don't do damage to his head while he's down he won't do his little tantrum phase which won't allow the breakable wall to become breakable so you do have to directly hit the false knight at least once as letting him get back up just makes him resume his usual attacks

I was wondering about this, but no soul definitely is different than what I was considering (if they came back it was fine, dream warriors count as dead (well, minus the two that come back), etc) but when it came to the dreamers I was unsure. But for this there might be options if it is strictly no soul gained: the defender and spore shrooms (though less optimal), thorns of agony, defender crest, the summons (minus the soul based ones) and, maybe but not likely, grubberfly elegy.

I thought this video would end early with it being impossible to progress further but you actually beat the game. That is so cool! Also I loved the movie-tier editing. This is now my favorite Hollow Knight video on UA-cam.
When I was trying to cheese failed champ I didn’t actually damage him while he was down because neither the weaverlings or hatchlings could attack him when he was far away. So I basically gave myself an endurance test cause I didn’t realise to hit him when he was down, and got to about six staggers before I realised I screwed up. It can be really fun to just survive bosses without killing them
this has to be in my top five youtube videos, I know all the methods and skips used here, but you still find such creative ways to present them. the love and care put into this video is also insane. I really hope we get to see more videos like this
You wouldn’t be able to access the Radiance without the Void Heart, which requires you to take the Kingsoul to the birthplace, and the Kingsoul generates soul every two seconds
@@abigriffin9496I have theorized no soul true ending, and I've found a way to do this (with one additional glitch). You can probably use bench storage, which can be gotten quite easily with hazard respawns. This would allow you to equip Kingsoul for less than four seconds to access birthplace.
It’s actually an insane testament to team cherry’s game that you can sequence break and finish their game without ever using the nail. F**king phenomenal game design... IS SOMETHING I’d say if team cherry didn’t put watcher knights in the game.
@@janovich. lets say you did the watcher knights first try. Thats 20 attempts on flukemarm. The boss that is literally a floating hitbox. The boss that has literally one attack which is incredibly easy to avoid. The boss that you can kill in 20 seconds by just pressing 1 button.
@@dirtfrosting it's probably the amount of owned items. You get to the flukemarm somewhat early into the game, and intended way to watcher knights is having wings already (like pretty late into the game, at least on my first playthrough).

Actually, you could very well kill the Baldurs, as Dreamshield is one out of the two options to kill Baldurs without spells. The other one is Longnail, which is very strict with timing and also gives soul, while Dreamshield has a bit easier to learn timing. The trick is to tap the nail button to attack, since that makes the dreamshield thrust outward, while your own nail will be too short to reach. It only takes some time and patience with this method.

Some things to know and I think are useful if someone wants to try the route, I'm not sure if I'm right: - You can damage baldur with dreamshield, It's kind of difficult but possible - You can't do the TAS trick to kill Uumuu since you need to kill a jellyfish first to get the explosion. Anyways, it's humanly impossible - It is not convenient to get the sporeshroom charm since you need to heal yourself for it to do damage - You can get vengeful spirit with dreamshild since you need to kill a baldur - You can get grimmchild after getting claw, and can be useful in some cases - Crystal dash does damage if the enemy is behind you, and it doesn't give you soul - You can't get true ending because you need to have an amulet that continually gives you soul to get void heart
What I would add: -The baldur trick is really cool -You can kill the uumaa (small jelly) with a dreamshield ........ but yeah no chance -Good point -You can't use vengeful spirit -That's fair -That's a cool addition - that's kinda funny
I saw this in my recommended and immediately started thinking about whether it was possible, and concluded that you couldn't get out of crossroads. Glad to see I was wrong. Although I am absolutely positive that true ending is impossible with this rule set, because you need Void Heart, which requires equipping Kingsoul, which of course gives passive soul regen. Everything else is doable, if incredibly tedious, but that just doesn't work, and I don't know if there's any "dark magic" to assist. Good luck though!
30:37 the exploding jellyfish strat wouldn't actually be allowed in this challenge because it requires hitting the jelly which not only gives soul but is also a direct form of damage to an enemy
The floating glitch is actually impossible to do in the current version, the trick to activate the glitch is done by opening the inventory in mid air which is only possible in the grimm troupe update (i think it was the 1.2 update i dunno). He has mods to activate it in the current version So this challenge is still legit if he downgrade the game but i guess the current version is more refined and runs more smoothly. Anyways the video is really fun and hella good keep up the amazing work
i do think it was on current patch w/ mods since iirc, on versions where inventory drop existed, the rooms before watcher knights were just one single room, and they were separated on current patch for performance reasons, and in the video you can see the rooms being separated. it's not a huge deal since it definitely would've been viable to downpatch and i don't think it makes the run illegitimate or anything, but i feel like he should've mentioned it in the video

This was SO GOOD. I got so excited when you mentioned Dreamshield to beat the game, that charm is usually really bad and never used due to its high cost in notches, but it found its glory in this challenge. Great job!
I used it in the dreamshield on the 3 mantisknights, it is good if used on a boss with a specfic type of a projectile.

honestly I love when these kinds of challenges include some variety of semantics regarding what is and isn't considered hurting enemies. not only does it make the challenge possible to finish, but it results in plenty of jokes I can't get enough of

I am not going to lie, this is one of my all time favorite UA-cam videos.
I think you’re allowed to hit the False knight because hitting him doesn’t give you any soul, and just knocking him down and waiting for him to stand up again without hitting him again will let you skip the fight
There's really no benefits to that, not only you are softlocked after you consume vs since you can't kill the bauldur, but vs is also useless outside that because consumes soul

Also if you don't do damage to his head while he's down he won't do his little tantrum phase which won't allow the breakable wall to become breakable so you do have to directly hit the false knight at least once as letting him get back up just makes him resume his usual attacks

Fun fact: You can kill the baldurs with dream shield however it's pretty precise and is very time consuming.
Also requires stabbing them, because stab ignores defense. If you're sad when you do it, you'll do more damage.

this is absolutely beautiful from the entire heist plot to weaseling your way through multiple things that weren't supposed to be done like that to seamlessly weaving in the add to showing me something new about the game (the chandelier & killing uumuu with a jelly bomb)
Damn, I was expecting him to get stuck in the crossroads. That was a rather smooth progression
I was wondering about this, but no soul definitely is different than what I was considering (if they came back it was fine, dream warriors count as dead (well, minus the two that come back), etc) but when it came to the dreamers I was unsure. But for this there might be options if it is strictly no soul gained: the defender and spore shrooms (though less optimal), thorns of agony, defender crest, the summons (minus the soul based ones) and, maybe but not likely, grubberfly elegy.

I love the concept of these bossfights: just avoiding attacks and trying to hurt boss with unique ways (or waiting 'till boss is dead)
When I was trying to cheese failed champ I didn’t actually damage him while he was down because neither the weaverlings or hatchlings could attack him when he was far away. So I basically gave myself an endurance test cause I didn’t realise to hit him when he was down, and got to about six staggers before I realised I screwed up. It can be really fun to just survive bosses without killing them
This challenge run absolutely captivated me from start to finish. Great work!

You know, Sharp Shadow also doesn't generate any soul when being used so it might be possible to get to the radiance while using this method.

You wouldn’t be able to access the Radiance without the Void Heart, which requires you to take the Kingsoul to the birthplace, and the Kingsoul generates soul every two seconds

@@abigriffin9496I have theorized no soul true ending, and I've found a way to do this (with one additional glitch). You can probably use bench storage, which can be gotten quite easily with hazard respawns. This would allow you to equip Kingsoul for less than four seconds to access birthplace.

@@janovich. lets say you did the watcher knights first try. Thats 20 attempts on flukemarm. The boss that is literally a floating hitbox. The boss that has literally one attack which is incredibly easy to avoid. The boss that you can kill in 20 seconds by just pressing 1 button.
@@dirtfrosting it's probably the amount of owned items. You get to the flukemarm somewhat early into the game, and intended way to watcher knights is having wings already (like pretty late into the game, at least on my first playthrough).

Actually, you could very well kill the Baldurs, as Dreamshield is one out of the two options to kill Baldurs without spells. The other one is Longnail, which is very strict with timing and also gives soul, while Dreamshield has a bit easier to learn timing. The trick is to tap the nail button to attack, since that makes the dreamshield thrust outward, while your own nail will be too short to reach. It only takes some time and patience with this method.

Yeah. No soul means your signing’s gonna take a hit
Some things to know and I think are useful if someone wants to try the route, I'm not sure if I'm right:
- You can damage baldur with dreamshield, It's kind of difficult but possible
- You can't do the TAS trick to kill Uumuu since you need to kill a jellyfish first to get the explosion. Anyways, it's humanly impossible
- It is not convenient to get the sporeshroom charm since you need to heal yourself for it to do damage
- You can get vengeful spirit with dreamshild since you need to kill a baldur
- You can get grimmchild after getting claw, and can be useful in some cases
- Crystal dash does damage if the enemy is behind you, and it doesn't give you soul
- You can't get true ending because you need to have an amulet that continually gives you soul to get void heart
What I would add:
-The baldur trick is really cool
-You can kill the uumaa (small jelly) with a dreamshield ........ but yeah no chance
-Good point
-You can't use vengeful spirit
-That's fair
-That's a cool addition

I saw this in my recommended and immediately started thinking about whether it was possible, and concluded that you couldn't get out of crossroads. Glad to see I was wrong. Although I am absolutely positive that true ending is impossible with this rule set, because you need Void Heart, which requires equipping Kingsoul, which of course gives passive soul regen. Everything else is doable, if incredibly tedious, but that just doesn't work, and I don't know if there's any "dark magic" to assist. Good luck though!
30:37 the exploding jellyfish strat wouldn't actually be allowed in this challenge because it requires hitting the jelly which not only gives soul but is also a direct form of damage to an enemy
You could use the dreamshield to hurt that. It'd make juggling the core WAAAAAAAAY harder tho

The floating glitch is actually impossible to do in the current version, the trick to activate the glitch is done by opening the inventory in mid air which is only possible in the grimm troupe update (i think it was the 1.2 update i dunno). He has mods to activate it in the current version
So this challenge is still legit if he downgrade the game but i guess the current version is more refined and runs more smoothly. Anyways the video is really fun and hella good keep up the amazing work
i do think it was on current patch w/ mods since iirc, on versions where inventory drop existed, the rooms before watcher knights were just one single room, and they were separated on current patch for performance reasons, and in the video you can see the rooms being separated. it's not a huge deal since it definitely would've been viable to downpatch and i don't think it makes the run illegitimate or anything, but i feel like he should've mentioned it in the video
