Hey, thanks for watching and/or commenting! This video seems to be getting a lot more attention all of a sudden, and I couldn't be more grateful for that. I worked pretty hard on this project, so seeing a bit more of a return on that investment of time and energy is really rewarding. From the bottom of my heart, thanks to everyone for your kind compliments and for watching this hour-plus video all the way through. You're awesome! All that said, I've gotten quite a few questions and remarks over the past few days, so I've gathered some of the more common ones and answered them here for your convenience (spoilers below if you haven't finished watching, by the way). If you have a question that isn't answered below, feel free to reply to this comment and ask me directly. I'm always happy to answer! Q: A lot has changed in Stardew Valley in the 2 years since you did this challenge. Are you going to do an update/sequel to this video? A: As of right now, I don't have any specific plans to. There are a few ideas floating around in my head for ways I could update the challenge, so I might do a short follow-up at some point in the future, but right now I don't think there would be a substantial enough difference to make a full video covering it. Plus, I just don't have as much free time as I used to. At any rate, I'll discuss some of the specific changes to the game that affect this challenge over the next few questions. Q: Is this challenge possible to complete without the use of multiplayer now that Remixed Bundles are a thing? A: I haven't looked into it in too much depth, but it seems likely that it would be possible, yes! It would probably be a bit of a nightmare to find a seed that has an ideal combination of bundles to make it work, but if they work the way I think they do, the Remixed Bundles are probably the key to making this challenge doable solo. Q: When you were trying to get to Floor 40 of the mines, why didn't you just go to the Desert Trader and trade jade for staircases? Wouldn't that have been easier? A: The Desert Trader wasn't added to the game until a few months after this video, so it wasn't possible in the version of the game used here. Now that it's an option, though, that would definitely be the way to go. Provided you can get your hands on a jade, you could put it in the crystallarium you get for completing the 25K bundle in the Vault and that would allow you to trade for effectively unlimited staircases, allowing you to bypass the mines pretty easily. Q: Since you don't level up until the end of the day, couldn't you have farmed all of the Gold Quality Melons you needed in one go and taken them to the Community Center on the same day? A: It's a good theory, but unfortunately it doesn't work within the rules of the challenge. While it's true that you don't see the level-up message until the end of the day, you actually gain the level itself the moment you hit 100 experience in that skill. You can see this for yourself by checking the Skills tab of your inventory in the middle of the day after you gain the level. So while the Community Center would be complete and you wouldn't have seen the level-up message, the level would nevertheless still be there. Q: You can only get one cup of coffee per night at the night market now. Does this impact the challenge significantly? A: It definitely makes earning money in the early game more of a grind, but overall it's not a massive hurdle. Most of my income came from the Mushroom Cave, and the coffee strategy was mainly a way to fast-track my earnings to 25K in order to get access to the Mushroom Cave. So yes, the challenge would probably take longer, but not substantially so. Q: Do you know how rare that dialogue you got from Marnie at 27:23 is?! A: I do now!
Just leaving a comment here for the algorithm! It brought me here, and I would love to see more videos like this. You've got a really great commentary style that really fits longer challenge videos like this
@@uBreeze It's definitely renewed my motivation to create content. Projects like this are where my real passion lies, and I'd absolutely love to do more, but whether time or circumstances will allow for it is another matter. Between a full-time job and other obligations, it's difficult to say.
bro i almost SCREAMED when i saw him hoeing in a straight line to try to get the yams. He said you can get 15 or so per day with this method, but using clay farming, you can get around a hundred. 😭😭😭
@@4to5MouseHive Clay (and other ground forage like snow yams) used to follow a predictable pattern. It's now been changed so that it's more random and impossible to find a consistent pattern.
In theory you could do that by waiting for all melons to be gold quality, so that technically you would have the Center completed before you level up, but that would probably take years IRL, might as well play the lottery if you're going to attempt something like that.
For anyone who hates themself enough to want to attempt this challenge, there is a mod that shows how close you are to leveling up in Nexus. It probably wasn’t around during the making of this video but it’s around now and I would recommend it.
The “GOTCHA!” Comments on this video piss me off. “Why not just trade jade for staircases at the desert trader?” - there was no desert trader. “Why not just clay farm?” - clay spawns were believed to be random. “Why not just--“ PLEASE. this challenge was done five years ago; when we didn’t have as many features OR as much knowledge!
When he bought the hay from Marnie, the text over her head said “Lew…? Oh…” (27:23), which is one of two of the rarest texts in the game, both from Marnie. The other also refers to her and Lewis’ relationship. This is also one of the top few rarest things in the game, and I cannot BELIEVE you got it on camera without even trying, noticing, or probably even knowing.
Me: Oh, he could argue that he didn't level up until night, and just kinda cheat with the melons, going over the farming experience limit. Him: ~friendship~ Me: I am a fool
OH MY GOD. I can't even begin to fathom what a nightmarish amount of work it must have taken to edit this video. This is incredible, and belongs up there among the most highly recommended by YT. There are people who put out one video a week to a million subscribers that couldn't hold a candle to the professionalism of this. If you ever needed a job in video editing, this is a hell of a resume to start with. I mean I've made a few ambitious videos over the last 10 years, but this blows me away. There will never be enough words to convey what a magnificent job you've done here.
Haha, thank you so much! This level of praise is above and beyond anything I expected from this project. I could definitely see myself taking up video editing as a job in the future, and I think this was a good first step. Thanks as always for being a friend and an inspiration-this video probably wouldn't be here without your influence. Glad you loved it!
10/10. A film full of originality and family values, brimming with life and excitement. Emotional rollercoaster (I cried twice) that left me with everything and nothing.
To anyone wanting to do this yourself, here’s some ideas. 1. The merchant at the desert sells staircases for jades. Prioritize the vault bundle and use 40 staircases to get to floor 40 with 0 experience. 2. Clint gives you bars for free. Also, The item you get from a gift letter is determined the moment you open it. Reset the day to guarantee any friendship item you need. 3. Clay farm. Even if you don’t use the speed runner method, u can still get 20G per clay. 4. Beach farm or 4 corners is probably the best 5. Building paths and buildings early from robin will help get more space/block wild growth 6. Killing a slime in the secret woods has a chance of getting a mahogany seed. This is another option for hardwood
@@hilordofgraouh6829 uh he doesn't use the jade trade because he did this run like 5 years ago taking into account editing times. The desert trader was introduced in November 2019, several months after this video released. He physically couldn't
@@AdjustedDisparityah that makes sense. I was really wondering why he didn’t just go to the trader and duplicating a jade with the community center crystalarium reward.
I love how, even when trying to play Stardew Valley in a way that was not intended, the main element of the game still shined through; managing time and resources!
Me: No I don’t feel like watching a movie, I can’t focus for that long on one thing Also me: Watches 75 minutes of someone playing Stardew Valley without leveling up Dude, I cannot BELIEVE your patience in completing this challenge, and the production and entertainment value of this video was outstanding, well done! Could not look away from my screen lol
I'm sure someone has already commented to this effect, but I bet this challenge COULD be completed solo! The trick is to farm the melons as the very last thing you ever do and then turn them in before the day ends and you level-up. Technically you've earned all six stars in the community center without increasing your Farming level even one stage and the community center is complete at level zero (even if it's only for one afternoon). Great video though. Love to see how awful foraging is. This really explains why I was unable to level it efficiently on my first playthrough. Why are mushrooms not foraging but picking up fruit from the cave is????
Like the pinned comment says, you can check your skills page to see that you get to Level 1 the moment you get 100 XP, even though the end of the day is when you get alerted to this fact
I've made the same observation. Even if you would technically reach the level without sleeping, I don't believe you receive the rewards of actually leveling up until you sleep, although both solutions are a get-around for that one thing that really just makes the challenge impossible with standard bundles. Getting to that point was impressive to watch! I think I would favour the suggested alternate method over friendship just because co-op opens up 4x the xp in every skill, but friendship is a nice note to end on.
My ok truffle: “It taste good but wish it was better” A good cow cheese: “BEST THING SINCE SLICED BREAD” Here is some more Some good yam: “A beauty to behold” A great void egg: “Its ok” Void mayo: “ABSOLUTELY VILE”
Can we all just take a moment to appreciate that he took the time to animate the scythes spinning at 1:11:33 when explaining the HQ melon thing? The pure fact that he chose to do that just for viewer satisfaction amazes me.
I know the video is pretty old by now, but a minor tip for anyone who wants to try this (or who plays the game in general): In the settings there’s an option to change how zoomed in your screen is. Zooming all the way out would be super useful for things like finding ladders and panning spots, but in a normal playthrough I often just use it to scan for ore in the mines or find forageables. P.s, did you know theres an option in settings to change the sound a fish makes when it bites? Definitely check out the whole menu if you haven’t already, there’s lots of useful stuff there.
I think I saw him screenshotting to check levels. It's at the bottom of the options tab, click destination folder, and there's an image of the whole level you're on. It works on village areas too. I sometimes use it to check for Spring Onions without walking all the way.
Man created a Magnum opus of breaking the ultimate farming game, and decided he was done. Respect. Hopefully this algorithm boost is a great boost to both confidence and resources.
This video is an epic rivaling Homer's Odyssey. The passion, the dedication, the triumphant highs and melancholic lows, the hope despite all odds, the defeat of seeing no way forward, and finally, when all seemed lost: completion. Not in the way any of us expected, but truly a profound message that together, anything is possible. Good god, my man. So much love and energy put into this passion project. I'm in awe of you.
Honestly, this is one of the best challenge videos I've ever watched. You keep it engaging throughout, used a variety of different strategies so that it isn't just "I sat for 40 years buying things from the cart," cited numerous sources to help you with this project... Just wow. This is a video I see myself coming back to months from now when I have forgotten most of the finer details, just to watch through it again. That's how great this was. I applaud you for this amazing piece of art that you have graced the internet with!
i love that getting help from other definitely real people at the end fits with the theme of stardew valley, but that it also fits with the theme of your "being lazy" premise, literally getting another player to harvest for you also this is fantastically edited and was an absolute joy to watch!
i feel bad for descovering this video after 2 years. This is one of the best game challenge videos i've seen in my entire life. The amount of work you put just amazes me. Much love man, i really appreciate it, it was really entertaining and interesting
I’m currently in year 2 on my own personal attempt at this challenge, I’m using remixed bundles as it’s the only way to make it possible and it took several restarts and using a program to analyze my world file every time i made a new one to check if the bundles i needed were available, after a number of retries I finally got a world that has no bundles i deem outright impossible (quality crops, quality fish, and fish farmer being flat out impossible and treasure hunter and brewers bundle being at best extremely difficult), my immediate plan day 1 was to cheese the construction bundle by going to the secret woods early by using a chair to skip the log (consider that abusing a glitch if you want i don’t really care) and killing the slimes there until one dropped a mahogany seed, restarting over and over if i deemed the combat experience gain to be too high, and then planted the seed at the bottom of the farm and let it grow, i used the beach farm so it was a waiting game until one of the supply crates gave me a cherry bomb which I used to down the tree after 9 axe hits, causing it to fall with zero forage experience gain, I still had to chop the stump to get 10 hardwood but the stump only gives 1 experience so it wasn’t an issue at all, and this process gave me a ton of wiggle room when it came to the forage skill, I then for the rest of the year used clay farming to get the funds i needed for the traveling merchant, backpack upgrades, and a house upgrade (increases the value of supply crate items and allows me to have a spouse, some of which give items needed for the community center on rainy days, the GOAT being leah who gives like 11 different forage items), thanks to the clay farming technique being usable for winter forage funds are a complete non issue for the run (12k gold on average a day for all of winter) so i did the bulk of my money grind in winter and intend to sleep most of the days away as i wait for traveling merchant days and gifts from villagers, the king of which being a jade from the wizard which will allow me to use it in the crystalarium for unlimited stair cases when i unlock the desert making the mines explorable with no exp gain, will update if any major news happens
Considering that this video was made two years ago but has only started to gain traction now, I hope you feel reinvigorated to continue making content, if you keep this standard of video-production it'll be only a matter of time until the views ect. start to flood in. Keep up the good work.
There are a lot of times where, if a game doesn't interest me, I won't want to watch a video. But I'm already 40 minutes in, and I can't wait to see the rest. Great job on this video Argon! You made this super interesting and I'm on the edge of my seat.
I'm incredibly happy to hear that! One of my goals in creating this was to make it entertaining & enjoyable even if you know very little about the game, or aren't interested in it. Thank you so much!
I watched this video multiple times while I was self isolating with covid. it was a stressful, lonely time, and it was just nice to have this video to keep me company. you are a fantastic narrator and an incredible content-maker. I've been keeping up with the streams now for price of perfection - very glad you're making more wonderful stardew stuff!
I did not realize that the video was over an hour long. Thank you for putting me through this journey, I definitely felt all the emotions you tried to portray throughout this video. I don't even play stardew valley and I was definitely moved.
Loved this but you maybe insane for even attempting to do this not to mention complete it. The quest for floor 40 and how easily you obtained both the items there was priceless.
When I read your subscriber count of only 20 thousand after you spent an uncomprehendable amount of time creating this absolute masterpiece, I was genuinely shocked. This video is most definitely the most effort-filled Stardew Valley video I’ve watched, and most likely of all time. You most certainly deserve all praise to you from this video and more. If there were two words I could use to describe your channel size, they would be massively underrated. This video is amazing and deserves more attention on this website. Keep making these phenomenal videos, and I hope to see you again around here!
I'm angry at the fact that this video doesn't have millions of views. It's put together *stunningly* well. The editing is absolutely gorgeous, and the way you fit together each piece of video makes for a wonderfully structured narrative. I think you've earned another subscriber with this masterpiece, my guy.
This was a fantastic video, but at 57:19 you showed a clip of you receiving a Jade from Leah, you could have duplicated this in your crystalarium and then exchanged the jades for Staircases at the Desert Trader on sundays. Which would have allowed you to just skip down to floor 40. That being said, this was still an incredible video and watching everything unfold was super entertaining
That would indeed be possible now, but the Desert Trader wasn't added to the game until version 1.4, which came out a few months after this video was released. I'll definitely bring that up if I ever do an updated version of this challenge, though. Thanks for watching!
@@niteowl789 really? After watching this video I tried it on my switch and was able to get coffee every 10 minutes (and my copy of stardew is always kept up to date)
oh my god i was on the edge of my seat for the mines, the way you narrate this is incredible. just the right amount of drama and suspense, i had no idea how it was going to end
i cant quite put into words how relaxing this video is. your commentary + the soothing stardew ost makes me feel like im listening to an actual adventurer's day-to-day audio log
This was such an incredible video and it's criminally underviewed! Hopefully this video getting recommended to me at least means the algorithm will start to show it some love! This video and the challenge behind it were so entertaining and well made and I can see how much passion was behind it. Would love to see more or a follow up video in the future!
Thank you! I definitely put a lot of work into this one, so I'm happy that it's getting a bit of love. I've considered a follow-up video since some of the updates to the game have changed the challenge significantly, but I'm not sure if it'll come anytime soon. Still, thanks for watching!
@@armansagmanligil1144 I honestly kind of burned myself out with the amount of time and effort I put into this one, and the relatively small amount of attention it initially received demotivated me significantly. A lot has changed in that time, though. I don't have any current plans for new videos, but a lot of people seem to want more, so who knows? :)
The ending felt so wholesome! It was going to be such a bummer to not be able to complete the challenge, but my gut told me the 'but wait' was coming, and it did, in the most unexpecting way (for me) and it really did just put the bow on this neatly wrapped challenge with a side of satisfaction. I have no idea how long this video would of taken you, and I dont even want to have a guess, but thank you so very much for your time and dedication! 4 years later and this video is still getting recommended to new people (I only recently got back into Stardew after probably like 5 or 6 years and so have been watching a decent amount of content to learn more about the game and the mechanics, as well as just challenges with or without mods to learn different midsets around the game and going about the years) I really enjoyed this video!
This was an amazing, high quality experience that legit had me on the edge of my seat. I felt devastated when it looked like it would fall apart at the last hurdle, and the turn around was a wonderful pay-off of anime-level friendship power. Thanks for the ride
Great video!! I didn't realize when the video came out and was saying to myself the whole time "why are you not mentioning that you can crystallarium a jade and trade for staircases with the desert trader" until I realized this came out before the desert trader was added. Props!!
One thing for the frozen geode I thought of, if you get Jade from one of the villagers, put it in a crystallarium, and trade it for staircases, you could reach floor 40 of the mines to get the geode
This was a joy to watch. I imagine after the success of a video like this, it’s easy to be nervous about what you’ll do next-don’t worry. Your commentary and editing are what made this great, and those won’t take a hundred hours of gameplay to produce. Looking forward to whatever you decide to release. :)
I now see why this video took so long but it was very enjoyable to watch even though I don't care too much about this game. Great job on this it turned out amazing.
wait this only has 9500 views and came out 2 years ago...? That feels criminal, this is such high quality and shows a ton of love, you blew my mind with this and really produced something great, excellent work dude, subscribed.
Hello; pretty sure the algorithm recommended this to me because I’ve been watching Wand of Sparking’s Stardew Valley challenge videos, but regardless I’m super glad I found it! Super interesting video with a super interesting premise, I admire the dedication this must have taken; take care and thanks again!
I have watched this 3 times now, it's just so well done and soothing to listen to. I would love a sequel with the remixed bundles, maybe it's possible. I haven't played with them yet, so I don't know what is impossible there
I never in a million years you would have done a stardew valley video but I'm glad that's what your big project has been! Keep up the great work Argon!
This was so fantastic! The passion and effort you put into this project and video is *palpable* and the editing, sound word, clips, everything, was absolutely perfect. The ending nearly brought me to happy tears! Stardew Valley is such a wonderful game and you've restored my love of it anew! Thanks Argon
I got this randomly recommended by YT algorithm, and I thought to myself that this is probably some big youtuber, considering the really high quality and effort with a great edit and voiceover, and I was shocked to see only a few thousand subscribers. This is the kind of effort that will hopefully get you a lot of attention! (even though a couple years late)
I love stardew so much, and have personally dedicated 1k+ hours between all platforms (asides from mobile) and never once even fathomed the idea of trying to do the CC without leveling up. I’m amazed that what seemed like such a daunting task in the grand scheme of things isn’t entirely too difficult, and the fact that friendship is what makes this challenge possible is just the most satisfying part of it. This game never ceases to amaze me, and content creators like you always bring a smile to my face. Thank you :)
I love how at the start you were talking about being really really lazy and ended up doing 10x the work any of the rest of us put into a single stardew playthrough X'D Irony aside, awesome video, can't imagine how long it took to put this all together.
Let me say that this video could not have come at a better time for me personally. This labor of love takes me back to before a series of extremely nasty bouts of depression, anxiety, and chronic physical illness in my life. I once played this game for hours at a time and followed every possible whim on how to do it with a sparkle in my eye. Watching you challenge yourself to your wits end on a game that my circumstances caused me to forget I loved was beyond inspiring. I ended the video with tears of joy and a quiet, heartfelt chuckle over the definitely completely separate human farmhands you enlisted to help you. I was completely immersed in your struggle until the end. I needed a strong reminder to come back to the things I love now that I'm doing better. Made even more special that the passion project was yours. Thank you for editing and crafting this unique adventure. Thank you again for taking us with you. ♡
I'm so, so happy to hear that you're doing better, and that I could help with that process in some small way. All the time and energy that went into this video was worthwhile just for that alone. Thanks for watching and enjoying!
alright I just finished the video and it was awesome! I feel like I just watched a stardew documentary and I loved every minute of it - I was 100% emotionally invested, every time you had a success I was like, "YESSS GET IT!" and I was so on edge when your mining experience was creeping up. the amount of time and effort put into this is palpable and so much appreciated! having been watching you for so many years, I feel like this format is really suited to your style in terms of both gameplay and commentary. it demonstrates what a multifaceted content creator you are (by showcasing a more varied set of skills - writing, editing, researching, strategizing, gameplay, etc) I got into stardew earlier this year and i've been kind of sad that there isn't a whole lot of quality content surrounding it beyond shorter challenge videos which often use cheats/mods. I really like in-depth analysis type videos and there aren't a lot which surprises me - I feel like the game and story are kind of an untapped goldmine! it would be cool if you had more stardew content, whether it is long-form or short-form (or even livestreams). I also think this video would be super helpful to someone starting the game. I've been playing for months now and still learned a lot about the various probabilities and different techniques to make money, find bundle items, etc. really cool video overall!! (would it be weird to say i'm proud of you???)
This is about the biggest compliment I could've hoped for. I was so worried throughout the creation of this that I wouldn't be able to make it interesting, or that it would be confusing, or any number of problems. But, from your feedback, it seems I've hit the exact right notes I was striving for. Thank you so much! And no, it's not weird that you're proud, haha. You've been around a very long time, so I think it's a natural feeling when seeing me complete a big achievement like this! I do have some ideas for more Stardew videos. If there's enough interest, I'll definitely be glad to do more! It's one of my favourite games of recent times for sure. Thanks for watching, Jenna!
@@ArgonMatrix definitely not confusing at all, the video is structured really coherently and with enough detail that nothing major is left out, but not so much detail that it's overwhelming :) a very long time indeed - I was 15 when I subscribed and i'll be 23 later this week! i've kind of grown up watching you! very excited for the potential of future stardew content. I've toyed with the idea of making it myself but it seems like quite the undertaking so i'll leave that to the experts :D
UA-cam recommended me this. I'm hoping the algorithm is favouring this as its next big thing, since I just stayed up until 4am the night before I move house because I couldn't wait to finish watching. One of my favourite videos I've seen on this website, criminally underrated. Insane job dude.
I was like "oh wow 4 years ago? that must have been when stardew just came out" before realizing that that was 2019. Also massive props to you for including actual captions, literally doing god's work.
I can't believe you had the patience to do this, amazing! Also everything about the editing is so good, it's hard to make such a long video so engaging!!!
I am honestly so amazed at this video. This is one of the videos that will 100% have an impact on my video editing. Thank you for making this fantastic piece of internet history. It is amazing, I loved your calm voice, I loved your humor, I loved the feat you accomplished, I love how well the video editing is, I love this video. It is truly amazing in every way. Almost to 1 million views too.
i love coming back to this video every few weeks and seeing the view count grow so much. I remember your post about hitting 1 million views and I'm just so happy for you. You did such an amazing job editing, I can't imagine the length of the raw footage.
1:11:08 Awh... for some reason, that line almost made me cry... "This challenge might not be possible to complete by yourself, but I think that actually lines up beautifully with the spirit of the game. *Sometimes... you need friends."* AWWWW... my heart tho... this was a great video.
okay, damn, i put off watching this, but i teared up at the "we". and when that classic "Thanks for watching!" faded in, my tears welled. and on the slow pan, i blinked, and they fell. thanks so much for making this video -- the amount of effort this clearly took is incomprehensible. i can't believe that in the time it took me to watch this video after adding it to my watch later, it went from a few hundred thousand to TWO POINT ONE *MILLION* VIEWS. sleep well, friend ! oh, p.s.: thanks for comprehensive subtitles! they definitely make this A Rewatchable Comfort Video
Friendship, trading, trash cans, research and luck That's how we can complete it without leveling up It was very touching Thank you so much for all the dedication, for pushing through this almost impossible mission and sharing such legendary story to us
So my theory for the Vincent going into the museum when it’s locked thing, is that the sponsor didn’t run dry, Vincent was stealing the stuff. And Gunther doesn’t know, duh
What a fantastic challenge! As a newbie who didn't want to deal with fishing at first but also wasn't intetested in any livestock, I, too, remember the anxiety of completeing the Community Center by digging through trash and shopping at Travelling Merchants' cart. And who would've guessed that fruit trees or salmon/blackberries gain no XP? This game is something else in how non-linear it can get, but you made it even more challenging and interesting.
BROOOOOO, this video was so much fun to watch and I couldn't even begin to imagine the amount of work and effort that went into it! This experience was so entertaining and the last few minutes warmed my heart. You definitely deserve all the sleep and warm meals in the world for taking on such a task and not losing your mind or giving up halfway through. This was so entertaining and I can't wait to see more from you!
I thought this video would have about 1.6m views, and a checkmark youtuber made it (editing quality). But no, it was actually a 7k sub youtuber and it only had 166k views. Underrated even with the extra algorithm attention. Glad you might be returning to videos soon, because it's very rare the time consistently flies by on a video that's more than an hour long. I've never even played stardew valley and yet this video was very enjoyable. Thank you for all your work.
you should do this again, but use clay mining as a way to get a lot of money fast, since the winter forageables and clay have a set pattern that you can use to maximise the profit
Did I just watch a movie? I mean, it felt just like it. Even the last seconds with only the sound of fire, felt like watching the credits after an intense film.
This is SUCH a good video, it's so hard to describe how you feel at the end! But I can 100% say it was a positive feeling. The journey this video takes you on is truly something. The pacing, level of detail and method of explanation are especially superb. It's a brilliant video where you can see the level of dedication put into in, and completely deserves the attention it has received!!
This video was on my recommendations today, and I’m so glad it was. What an interesting challenge! I’d love to give this a go myself now with the newer mechanics of the game. Oh and I had no idea that you used to be able to get more than one coffee from the night market! 😂 Great video thank you.
Chill vibes, and fun to listen to while actually playing. While the level of commitment is INSANE and I can't fathom doing this sort of thing for FUN, this was my favorite stardew video I've seen.
Im incredibly late to this, but I got 6 frozen geodes from fishing before even touching the mines, thanks to a high luck day. However, this was done on a much later version of the game than the one you played on, so it's not a definite source. Astounding work, by the way! I came from your Master Angler video, and although I can see the difference in quality between the years, your earlier videos are still astoundingly well put together. The jump in quality between those two challenge videos is jaw-dropping, considering the time between them. I can't wait to see what challenge you tackle next!!!
awesome video! i am frankly appalled that UA-cam did not recommend this to me sooner, but i'm so glad it did because this has skyrocketed to be one of my favourite videos ever. i LOVE stardew and i love challenges like this, and i might try this out myself!
This honestly is the best challenge video I've watched. The attention to detail in the editing and surprising way you completed the last bundle was so wholesome
Honestly, it makes sense that to complete the COMMUNITY center (without leveling ofc), you'd have to bring a friend or two (even if said friend is just you on another computer).
I gained a million G without leaving my farm under any circumstances recently. It was an incredibly spiritual experience. I appreciate that I was recommended this video today 🤗

4. Beach farm or 4 corners is probably the best
5. Building paths and buildings early from robin will help get more space/block wild growth
6. Killing a slime in the secret woods has a chance of getting a mahogany seed. This is another option for hardwood

This is literally me omg
I'm sure someone has already commented to this effect, but I bet this challenge COULD be completed solo! The trick is to farm the melons as the very last thing you ever do and then turn them in before the day ends and you level-up. Technically you've earned all six stars in the community center without increasing your Farming level even one stage and the community center is complete at level zero (even if it's only for one afternoon).
Great video though. Love to see how awful foraging is. This really explains why I was unable to level it efficiently on my first playthrough. Why are mushrooms not foraging but picking up fruit from the cave is????
Like the pinned comment says, you can check your skills page to see that you get to Level 1 the moment you get 100 XP, even though the end of the day is when you get alerted to this fact
fancy seeing you here :)) would love to see yall play stardew 👀
It's doable solo with Remixed Bundles. You just need Rare Crops to replace the Quality Bundle and no Fish Farmer or Quality Fish Bundles

Yeah, the editing in this is top notch
I sometimes use it to check for Spring Onions without walking all the way.
screenshotting is better because it doesn't take any in game time and it covers the whole map

Any important updates on your progress?

This was a fantastic video, but at 57:19 you showed a clip of you receiving a Jade from Leah, you could have duplicated this in your crystalarium and then exchanged the jades for Staircases at the Desert Trader on sundays.
Thanks for watching and enjoying!
dude, this is probably one of the best video game related videos on the entire internet. i was thoroughly entertained and what a heartwarming end!
alright I just finished the video and it was awesome! I feel like I just watched a stardew documentary and I loved every minute of it - I was 100% emotionally invested, every time you had a success I was like, "YESSS GET IT!" and I was so on edge when your mining experience was creeping up.
the amount of time and effort put into this is palpable and so much appreciated! having been watching you for so many years, I feel like this format is really suited to your style in terms of both gameplay and commentary. it demonstrates what a multifaceted content creator you are (by showcasing a more varied set of skills - writing, editing, researching, strategizing, gameplay, etc)
I got into stardew earlier this year and i've been kind of sad that there isn't a whole lot of quality content surrounding it beyond shorter challenge videos which often use cheats/mods.
@@ArgonMatrix definitely not confusing at all, the video is structured really coherently and with enough detail that nothing major is left out, but not so much detail that it's overwhelming :)
a very long time indeed - I was 15 when I subscribed and i'll be 23 later this week! i've kind of grown up watching you!
very excited for the potential of future stardew content. I've toyed with the idea of making it myself but it seems like quite the undertaking so i'll leave that to the experts :D
27:22 HOLY SHIT Marnie's extremely rare dialogue!!!! I’ve never seen that dialogue, and many others haven’t either, you’re lucky as all hell!
I noticed that too but didn’t know it was so rare, just makes the vid even more incredible lol
Woooooah, it's so cool to see the limitations of this game from five years ago!
UA-cam recommended me this. I'm hoping the algorithm is favouring this as its next big thing, since I just stayed up until 4am the night before I move house because I couldn't wait to finish watching. One of my favourite videos I've seen on this website, criminally underrated. Insane job dude.
Thank you very much! That's quite high praise. I'm glad you enjoyed the video to such a degree. :)
This was one of the most enjoyable watching experiences I’ve ever had. So well edited and constructed!! Thank you for all the time and effort 😭
Argon: "The challenge ends here..."
Me: "Aw... Wait a minute **why is there 7 minutes left?**"
1:11:08 Awh... for some reason, that line almost made me cry...
"This challenge might not be possible to complete by yourself, but I think that actually lines up beautifully with the spirit of the game. *Sometimes... you need friends."*
AWWWW... my heart tho... this was a great video.
I went to shoppers and got myself a snack, got my water and a comfy place to sit, i'm so ready for this!!
Added to my favorites. This video was absolutely fascinating the whole way through.
okay, damn, i put off watching this, but i teared up at the "we". and when that classic "Thanks for watching!" faded in, my tears welled. and on the slow pan, i blinked, and they fell. thanks so much for making this video -- the amount of effort this clearly took is incomprehensible. i can't believe that in the time it took me to watch this video after adding it to my watch later, it went from a few hundred thousand to TWO POINT ONE *MILLION* VIEWS. sleep well, friend !
oh, p.s.: thanks for comprehensive subtitles! they definitely make this A Rewatchable Comfort Video
I’ve watched this so many times, because it’s become an anxiety relief video to me. So well done, and we’ll appreciated!
Friendship, trading, trash cans, research and luck
That's how we can complete it without leveling up
It was very touching
Thank you so much for all the dedication, for pushing through this almost impossible mission and sharing such legendary story to us
why was this so emotional? the effort, the research, the lack of skills. i am tearing up.
You're an absolute UA-cam for managing this, amazing job!
A year later, it has 1.9m views! Happy ending
you should do this again, but use clay mining as a way to get a lot of money fast, since the winter forageables and clay have a set pattern that you can use to maximise the profit
This is the most wholesome challenge I've ever seen. The twist in the end is just beautiful.
Chill vibes, and fun to listen to while actually playing. While the level of commitment is INSANE and I can't fathom doing this sort of thing for FUN, this was my favorite stardew video I've seen.
27:20 the dialogue from marnie is really rare it’s like one in 1000
I loved the part saying "no you can't (lights turns off) but wait" I was so anxious on what would happen next.
I'm so happy this video is finally getting the recognition it deserves! Good job on this run. It was amazing to watch.
Best of luck if you do try it out! Thanks for watching!
How? Sap?
@@Chubbajawa collecting mixed seeds until I made farming level 9 to unlock the seed maker, then grew high value crops to make into pickles or juice. Used four corners farm for access to ore and set monsters to spawn at night for more opportunities to get mixed seed. Turning honey into mead was also a pretty steady income source
I love these kind of videos, someone sets a challenge for themselves and just does it with some exciting things along the way, and what better game than stardew! I have recently got into stardew and during the secret Santa, I got Clint as my gifter in which he gave me 5 frozen geodes... Oh how ironic
