Sewing a Gathered Sleeve into a Cuff and a Dropped Shoulder Sleeve into an Armhole- Harriet Blouse

This tutorial is for the Wearing History "Harriet" 1950s blouse pattern, but can be used for any sewing pattern that has a gathered short sleeve to a cuff, or a dropped shoulder.
In this video I will show how to attach a one-piece cuff to a gathered sleeve.
I will also show how to sew a dropped sleeve into an armhole.
A dropped sleeve is a sleeve that has an extention over the sleeve cap. The result is a sort of Victorian era throwback.

This is so helpful! Questions: #1) At 6:03 in the video, I'm slightly confused (am beginner). Looks like the instruction is to sew from bottom seam to top; then to backstitch and continue from top back down to bottom. Is this right? #2) At 6:30 in video, you said you serged that seam. Is there an alternative to finishing that seam if you don't have a serger and don't like pinking or zigzag? Thanks so much :)

Yep, that’s it! You’re just stopping at starting again at the point.
And totally! If you don’t want to serge you can hand overcast the seams or enclose them in a seam binding. I don’t think I have a video for that, but there should be some online. It’s often called “hong Kong” seam finish.
