I own 6 Piscifun reels in 3 different models and they are by far the best inexpensive reels I’ve ever owned! I put them up there with the other Shimano and Penn reels that I also own, except they cost a fraction of those other brands’ reels and they are a lot lighter than Penn reels! I bought 9 Piscifun reels the last three years to give them away as Christmas gifts. Everybody thought I spent a fortune because of how good those reels are, but they are inexpensive Christmas gifts that make everybody happy because of their quality and beautiful color patterns! I’m still using the two original Piscifun reels that I bought 7 years ago, that’s how good they are! If you’re in a tight budget but want to buy something of quality Piscifun is the one to go with all the way!
Great to see you doing a review on this reel. Jason with Piscifun is good people. Piscifun is all I have been using and curious about this reel also. Cant wait to watch the reviews.
I'm impressed with how it's handling so far. And you know how hard I am on my gear. Plus the fact that I never rinse off my reels after each trip. The Shimano's take it in stride year after year. I'm curious to see how this one will do.
The high speed reel would make a good swimbait reel for bass. I would imagine the low speed reel be a great “large crank bait” reel. These reels definitely have a place in the market. Large frame low profile reels are few and far between, especially in this price range. Normally the Daiwa Lexa, Shimano Tranx, Abu Toro Winch, or Lew’s 300 SD are the “go to” In this size range, especially in saltwater. Think bull reds, tarpon, yellowtail, calico bass, or large stripers. Thanks for your feedback on the reel. I can’t wait to hear how it holds up. Maybe a couple of shark fishing expeditions in the bay are in order? Hmmmm
I got the 8.1.1 Alijos to. Its a tank. I love it. Im mainly using it as a punch rig setup at the present with heavy braid. But will be trying it in saltwater to. There Serpent Rods are excellent rods. Got mine on the 7.4 heavy flipping rod. Love it!. Id show a picture if that feature was available lol.
I have been thinking about buying a Piscifun rod. I don’t own any of Piscifun’s rods, but I have 6 of their reels. Let me tell ya, I am extremely impressed by all of the reels that I have bought from Piscifun! I didn’t know I could get such quality reels for such little bit of money! I didn’t know Piscifun make any rods until the last 4 years or so because I’ve never seen any of their rods put on sale until the last 4 years or so. I’m going to order one from Aliexpress to give it a try since that’s where I always get the best deal!
@@grandwonder5858 the Serpent's are excellent love them. I'm planning on getting some of the new Alijios rods. The new carbon x rods Im seeing a lot of good reviews
I order the Phantom X blue version after watching a review you did on the original Phantom . I'm still waiting to get it because I'm in Mexico but I was thinking to buy the Alijos and after watching your review this real is going to be my next reel from Piscifun. Thanks for the review and great videos you put out. Saludos from Monterrey Mexico Mr. Mark
Sounds like a solid reel, heavy though, how smooth is it compare to Shimano curado k? I kinda stepped away from those companies as well, not that they are bad, is just that I'm always dropping my reels in salt and I needed waterproof reels. What's the toughest baitcaster for salt that you have used?
It's nowhere near as smooth as the Curado. You can feel a slight friction as you crank the line in. My most durable reel for the salt has been the Calcutta Conquest 100. I've had them for over two years and never rinse them after use. They take a beating and still perform great. I've had to send one in to be deep cleaned because I dropped it in the water. When I got it back it was amazing. The Curado DC has developed an unstoppable backlash every eighth cast or so. I have tried thumbing the spool and it never fails, the thing will backlash.
I've purchased two different reels from them (Chaos and the Thunder). Disappointed both times. Longevity was the issue. Both were down after a few months. Yes, I cleaned and lubricated them after each trip. Initially I did like them, they just didn't last. Also purchased one of their rods, it broke bringing in a Ladyfish. It was the first week I had the rod. Hopefully their newer models are better.
Thanks for the review and I just subscribed to your channel. I did ordered this exact same reel but in the 5.9:1 gear ratio with the power handle and left hand last night. Hopefully I didn't make a poor investment with this reel. Really looking forward to your update on this reel in the future!!!
You did this review but i don't see any play list or using it in some of the immediate videos after. So whats the deal with it? Did it last? Was it any good?

Hello Mark as a fisherman for 52 years on my boat or my kayaks and walking the shorelines i really enjoy fishing and working on my reals now retired but working for a well known real repair shop my experience with piscifun and kastking i notice for a few years with this two company the real feels god out of the box but as soon you start fishing the noise from the bearings to the gears drives me crazy yes you will catch fish i had this two company reals with me for weeks on fishing trips and months just fishing this two company reels yes they feel good out of the box but when the price is reaching 100 dollars i will stay with shimano daiwa abu and many other company . the shimano clx its a unbelievable real for 100 dollars. And i can go on and on. Thank you for the videos
Great explanation of the reel Mark. I've heard the company is a family owned business that is made in China for a fraction of the cost to make here in the states. Also the phantom line of reels supposedly are carbon fiber freshwater bass reels.
Great review! I felt the same way about some of the lower priced baitcasters on Amazon. Only because I was new to the baitcaster world. So I wanted a good starter reel. I went with KK and after 4 reels I will never go back. I actually went with a Piscifun Viper spinning reel that is GREAT!!! In my opinion. But for my baitcasters I ended falling for Abu Garcia! I may get my self the Shimano for Christmas. But we shall see what Santa bring us lol.. Thanks for sharing Mark tight lines!
I have looked for follow-up reviews after a substantial time of usage and cannot find one from MDLR. It would really like to hear how this reel held up.
Just got it today with the power handle looks beastly, braiding it some 30 lb 8 braid and I couldn’t agree with him on the bait clicker 😞 ! Subscribed and 👍🏼 clear message direct and specific, tight lines bro 😎.
Great video bro. I bought a piscifun and i actually hated the larger hand turns. This one i may try out. Do you know if you can change the crank handle on these?
I too have tried some of the amazon brands baitcasters KG and piscifun a lot of good marketing on UA-cam and reviews but seems that these reels are made for freshwater and not for Texas saltwater , what’s your input ?
Mark how are the seals? Is it supposed to be made for saltwater? Perfect price range. There's nothing worse than losing a $280 Shimano on the river. Match it with a $100 rod and go.
Can you please help me on this I'm looking To see if that is a good reel for bass fishing for largemouth and smallmouth bass and I'm looking for real because my real broke and I wanted something new this year my price range is $115 Canadian
Thanks for the explanation , please let me know how many pounds of braid line I can put on this reel ? In which color you recommend to use ? The color on the line makes any difference in saltwater ? 👍 🐟
I put approximately 250 yards of 30# yellow braid. I always use yellow because its hi visibility and I can see where my line is. I can also see the amount of slack I have in the line as well.
No backlash and Piscifun have not gone together well for me so far. I have an older model but the braking is very inconsistent. I have an old school Shimano Curado Bantam that half of its life has been in saltwater and the drag and casting is as rock solid now as it was day one.
Piscifun reels are well.engineered and have less plastic than Abu Garcia reels very surprising. I have the Phantom and now the Alijos. Looking now at the Chaos. Better than much more expensive reels.
There are two handle options for this reel. The single knob unbalanced handle is meant for vertical jigging only. This handle will turn during the cast and engage the clutch wrecking the gears. (Ive seen this happen many times) For casting the double knob handle only should be used.
Good review. I have used their reels for about 6 months now. Both are Phantoms. I love the one but having trouble with the other. I do think they are good reels for the money. As always great video brother.

Where are the videos of updates on your Piscifun Alijos reel?
So, after two years, hows it holding up?
Hwzz this reel dng now is this ok for saltwater

@@AliexFolgueira No I haven't. After my experience I stayed away. I will say their customer service is excellent, very helpful.
This seems to be a decent reel. Only time will tell if it's worth the price tag.

What size and power rod did you pair it with ? Thanks.
You’d have to check the video description. I don’t use this reel anymore and can’t recall what I had it paired to.
Can you use this for small Tuna fishing, around the 15-20 lb weight class?
You did this review but i don't see any play list or using it in some of the immediate videos after. So whats the deal with it? Did it last? Was it any good?

Didn’t know that it was family owned. They’re ok reels.
Hi Mark, have you tried the Lews Superduty 300 baitcaster?
which one u recomend 8.1.1 or 5.9.1 and why newbie here pls help plan to get one
One question Mark , What makes that reel so heavy , since it's has a aluminum frame ?
Aluminium reels are always heavier than the plastic/composite ones.
Great review! I felt the same way about some of the lower priced baitcasters on Amazon. Only because I was new to the baitcaster world. So I wanted a good starter reel. How is it compare with Kastking Kapstan 300
Looking good reels and looking forward to getting one

I have looked for follow-up reviews after a substantial time of usage and cannot find one from MDLR. It would really like to hear how this reel held up.
Yep how did it hold up?
No centrifugal settings ?
I've noticed you don't mess with Daiwa. Who only make fishing gear as in 4ever. Why?
I've used daiwa for some of my test reviews. I'm just a Shimano guy. They've never given me a reason to jump ship and go with another brand.
What rod did you pair it with? Can you recommend a 2-Piece MH rod for it?
Hey man when you get tired of that reel past it on I’ll take good care of it lol
update on the reel? how has it held up?
It’s okay but I prefer the Lew’s Super Duty 300. So I don’t use the Piscifun anymore.
How do you tie line on the spool pin?
A simple overhand knot 👍
Just got it today with the power handle looks beastly, braiding it some 30 lb 8 braid and I couldn’t agree with him on the bait clicker 😞 ! Subscribed and 👍🏼 clear message direct and specific, tight lines bro 😎.

im trying to get into baitcasting for saltwater but i dont want some cheapo reel and i dont want to pay too much, might try this thing.
How’s the reel so far?
Interested in the longevity test in the salt. I’ve had bad experiences with Kast King so it’s hard to justify a 100$ reel that is also that heavy.
It's going to take some time but I will eventually do another video review on it.
do you plan to have two years review?
I don’t use it anymore, sorry.
How did u get that 15% off on this reel?

been using it on the channel for my jetty trips.
