Great video. I’ve used it 3 times for all of my fuel filter changes. I put the clear and yellow caps from the new filter on the old one before I remove it from my truck to prevent leaks.
Appreciate this video. You got a new subscriber here! I have a ‘21 f150 with the 3L diesel and bought the filters a while back so that I have them to change at the next oil change. This truck has been great for us. It’s my daily driver and occasionally tows our travel trailer. Mixed driving, I’ve never got below 22mpg even in the winter time. Our last vacation trip from IN to NC and back…..solid 30mpg! Truck has been trouble free for 25k miles. You can’t go wrong with one of these! Too bad the diesel option is gone.
Great video. I change my fuel filters about every 30,000 miles. I try to let my fuel tank get really low before changing them. I usually collet about a pint of diesel. Also, the front end is on ramps as well. Socket looks really cool. $23.96 on Amazon.
That looks pretty simple to do. I’ve seen quite a few of those F-150 Powerstroke diesels in Georgia. I was interested in one of those a few years ago and still am. Too bad Ford quit making it. Quiet for a diesel. Some gassers are louder.
Why do you prime the fuel line after changing the one under the trunk? But before you changed the one in the engine compartment. I always change both then prime the fuel lines and filters. That way the secondary filter has less fuel drain out.
Great video. My wife has a F150 3.0 powerstroke and she loves it. I didn't know the fuel filter was that easy to change. Do you have the part numbers for the filters and for that special tool.
I've replaced MANY. Fun fact. If you try to get your parts guy to look up a fuel filter kit for a '21 model year F-150 with the 3.0L diesel, there is no listing. Nor does it list it in HVBom if you run the VIN through OASIS.
I was thinking about purchasing a baby powerstroke for a second truck and I know nothing about 3.0 is a good engine like the 6.7 is there certain year l should look for when I purchase one and how many mile should I look for
Thanks for the video. Would you happen to know why my 21 PS 3.0 will not go into brake maintenance mode? I also get a lot of brake squeal when breaking at less than 10 mph.
Have u replaced a timing belt on one of these trucks yet. I’m got 130k on mine but the dealer ship said there not worried about it yet that it could easily go to 200k what is ur thoughts?
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod Get rid of the truck or the timing belt? I'm looking to purchase a 2019 with 100K. Am I in for a world of hurt with the low production engine?
@@tonyprovo7816 the main issue with these used to be cranks breaking but then they redesigned it before it was put in the F150. There’s a dedicated 3.0 group on Facebook where you can find more information :) There have been spun bearings here and there, but overall seems like it’s a decent engine so far, and you should be able to save more in fuel costs than the actual extra maintenance expenses due to it being a diesel
What I would love to find is a how to on the glow plugs some service schedule I saw that a buddy’s shop uses says 55,000 mile for glow plugs but it like a 5 hour job. And I would rather do it my self just trying to find info for that have 52,000 on my 21.

I'm not a pro. Just using 32mm and bearker bar. Need bit of force to loosen that filter breaker bar gets it done. I like the design no need for torque wrench. Filter stops turning when fully installed. The firewall filter is more of a pain...

Almost looks like some fuel filter line fittings on say a 2015 Toyota Camry, Rav4 or Sienna. Quick disconnects with buttons with a plastic keeper so the disconnect stays together.
18-21 very low volume. Unless you were a hardcore diesel guy you would never have known. I actually got to build the first 2 of these in prototype form back in late 15 early 16. It was so hard to keep it a secret with everyone trying to guess what engine they were using 🤣
If you don't charge the system prior to replacing the under the hood filter you have very little leakage when you disconnect it. I charge the system once both filters have been changed
I have one of these trucks with the 3.0 and love it. Wish there was more content on UA-cam about them.
Great video ! Wish there was more 3.0 content! We have 2 in my family and love them

Excellent video!! Straight forward process! Thank you for putting this together!!
I own a 2018 Platinum. I love it! I used to trade in every few years. I seriously doubt I’d trade mine unless it was for a 2021 Platinum.
Love my 3.0. Change the fuel filters every 15k as cheap insurance.

The primary is always so tight 😫 I need to get one of those sockets. I change mine around 15-20k and they always seem dirtier than that one was.
