Also angelic wings which it's fits him cause he fights for his family and his loved ones and for the good.. Dante is just loves trolling around while Vergil is just hungry for power and plus Nero is a grandson of Sparda and specially Sparda also fought for his family and for his loved ones
@@Omega-jg4oq when you say it that way, it really feels like Nero brought it all full circle. Sparda did everything he could to protect his family. Due to the events that cause the brothers to separate, both ended up with issues and not a lot of straightforward brotherly love, but instead a rivalry. Nero, who despite his upbringing had a good sense of family, as well as, if I remember correctly, expecting to be a father if I remember that phone call prior to him gaining his DT, achieved what Sparda wanted his sons to learn, and protect his family. Kinda funny he seems like the most powerful DT of the Sparda bloodline so far
DMC5 might be my favorite game of all time and definitely the one I sank the most hours in. I love seeing other people enjoy it and experience the crazy ride that it is. It's great how people of all skill levels can enjoy it and how it and the whole series invites you to get good at it and look more and more stylish as you do
I can kinda get that shift. Nero never knew his family, outside his adopted one. Now he's discovered he has one and because of that he gets it and this ties Dante and Vergil into the concept of family he got from his adopted one. It represented a growth in his empathy, that mirrors but also opposes Dante finally learning to empathize with Lady in 3.
The release of DMC5 had retrospectively made DmC better received and the fandom started to appreciate its gameplay because we got the characters and storyline we liked back. DMC 5 is so good it dissolves hate.
Honestly, yeah. I'll be fair, I still don't like DmC:DmC (for a laundry list of reasons), but I don't really mind that people like it. It DOES have some genuinely good ideas in it (it's just when it comes to that, alot of the time it's mostly wasted potential or questionably implemented), and at this point, while i'd love a DMC6 (or maybe a spin-off featuring Lady, Trish, and Lucia), I wouldn't mind if the DmC fans got their sequel. That said, I still think DMC1 is a better game over the reboot (personal reasons, mostly, but yeah...)
Well, yes. That it's now a weird side-path rather than "The Future Of The FranchiseTM take it or leave it" has obviously made people hate it less, if only because it no longer directly threatens something we love. Fact is, it was always just a pretty okay game at worst, the problem was that if it had succeeded at any point, even in its definitive edition, this game wouldn't exist.
I love the facial animations, many modern games have dull expressions and this game keeps the characters alive. V was a surprise for me. If you know what you are doing you can do all crazy things with SSS rank, but you need to coordinate your minions and land combos with each one which can be challenging when you only worry to use one button normally.
5 is still surreal to me. I spent 8 years playing 4 as nero having accepted that the game would never get a true follow up. Then Hideaki Itsuno goes on stage at e3, says "This is the best game we've evervmade, it will EXCEED EXPECTATIONS" and was able to back those words up. Game has NO business being as well produce as it is.
Same. That was probably my favorite moment from any E3. No stupid PR bullshit or out of touch corporate cringe, just the developers of a massive company talking about a game they’re proud of that was probably never gonna be made.
@@Dasaltwarrior yeah I wish Lady abs Trish did more, but to be fair they were like inside of 2 bosses covered in goo after getting their ass handed to them by Urizen I would be pretty exhausted from that too
It's one of the best Capcom games ever, and no one can change my mind. I initially thought Nero's character was weak, but in this game he was amazing. I have no problem with him carrying on the franchise, as long as Dante and Vergil continue being a big part of it.
@amlightspeedy3090they can pull a gta and have Dante and Vergil in hell and binging back topside with Nero… maybe Dante has an illigitamate child somewhere lol
My only problem with dmc 3, as mentioned in the video, are some of the enemies are just fucking horrendouse on higher difficulties. Mainly the archers. Dmc v had some tough ones and the protoangelos had way to much health when DT popped but I never felt like a level was ruined by them.
@@joemoe650 In my opinion DMD was never meant to be fun, it's just straight-up challenge yourself and suffer by own demand to get that feeling of extreme success at the end and the fun is just a side bonus. Or if you're really good then you can have a lot of fun
The only bad enemy is the fire bat thingies. They only appear twice so I can never actually figure out their patterns. The fury is fine too as long as I'm ready for them. But those damn bats.
One thing to note with Royal Guard. Perfect guarding doesn't just preserve your DT, it generates DT. So if you git gud at parrying, you can have tons of DT gauge to use. Similarly, using a Trickster dash to go through an active attack will also generate a smaller amount of DT.
Did you ever get the special Prologue/Mission 8 kill on Urizen with Nero? It immediately ends the game and unlocks the next difficulty. That's one cool extra feature.
@@thisismyfirstusernameimade3007 you sure can! It rolls credits and basically says 'everything went totally as planned and we got the best possible outcome and everyone went home' or some shit
honestly being unable to change enemies you're locked onto while moving in DMC5 is more noticeable than in DMC4, it might just be because DMC5 really promotes movement in combat more than DMC4 does, and yes I didn't even notice that in DMC4 you couldn't change who you were locked onto without standing still. but it was very noticeable in DMC5
The movement was more important in Dmc 4, it has way less tracking on Dante so your timing and positioning had to be perfect if you didn't want to drop a combo, especially if you wanted to use more advanced mechanics like guard flying or inertia in general.
Honestly, I think the major thing missing from V's gameplay is more complexity. I'd like to see him, or at least his gameplay, return in a sequel but more fleshed out. With Dante and Nero it feels like I always have more to learn and get better at, but with V I feel like I hit to skill ceiling really fast.
yeah I think a big problem with V that could have made him better is adding more summons to swap between. Dante can change up his styles and weapons and Nero can change up his buster arms and gets more abilities when you beat the game. Meanwhile V never gains any new kinds of powers or anything really. Sure yeah the summons are based on DMC1 bosses so I'm not sure how to do it lore wise but adding more summons or at least *something* to mix up his gameplay more would probably help him feel less boring to play after the first runthrough
@@denkerbosu3551 if devil trigger didn't put them on auto pilot, but expanded their moveset much like devil trigger increases the power of some of Dante's moves, it could be interesting. I always thought that Nightmare promotion just wasn't fleshed out enough.
I think the fact that he has 3 summons makes it harder to flesh him out. If they took Vs stuff and mixed it with Vergil’s Doppleganger then for DMC6 that new devil hunter could be two characters that you juggle enemies between. Kind of like Astral Chain but you have more direct control over the second character.
For real V needed to be more fleshed out. I love V and found him to be by far the easiest to use making the game be on easy mode. Dante could be seen as hard while Nero is normal. But adding new moves would have been nice for his devil trigger.
@@yanribeiro7108 for me, what works is being patient enough to avoid his counter attacks, but also being aggressive enough to consistently break his guard (not talking about about parrying, i'm talking about doing enough damage fast enough that his dfensive stance breaks) I haven't rally tried parrying too much, to me parrying happened mostly when fighting the angelos and it was always them blocking my attacks, rather than the other way around

I binge watched this DMC series and trust me, You're reviews are really really great. I just love how you present your take on each subject. Thank you for this series
One criticism I’ll add about DMCV. The lack of unlockables really stings for me. DMC3 rewarded you for going up the difficulty ladder with more costumes to play with. Even with the “Special Edition” of 5 they didn’t add any costumes whatsoever. All costumes you can get are just recolours of the base outfits.
Yeah as far as an actual game it's outstanding, but as far as collectables there is almost nothing. I'm not a big collectable person most the time anyways but even I thought it was an odd change
and the only unlockable that we get is infinite devil trigger that lets be honest most people wont use cuz, it to much to bother unlocking for some people, and something that makes the game to easy for the rest. So yeah i want dmc 1 and 2 costume capcom >:(
Cavalier is actually in response to everyone requesting that they make a motorcycle weapon based on the dmc3 cutscene where is Dante uses Lady's rocket powered motorcycle as a weapon
Hey man, subbed for the DMC review series, but I'm on board for whatever else you've got lined up, I dig your style and respect the way you convey your opinions. Keep at it, man :)
Vergil never got to be the main protagonist. There are still some ideas that can be explored. Where is Sparda? What dmc's Heaven look like? What happened to the "god of evil" mundus defeated in the lore?
@@tarekalsalloum3811 They might have already been answered if the game wasn't rushed. It's shame how dmc 4 turned out. It still way better than dmc 2, but still the 2nd worst game in the franchise for me. Just had to run out of steam halfway through.

Noticed you didn't talk about Nero's Buster Knuckle where you can augment attacks by pushing Buster to punch people in the face while using Red Queen, and I kind of wanted to hear your take on it. The way it affects knockback is super fun to use in combos and really diversified my second playthrough from my first. I love using it to punch people in the face while Nero charges Showdown, or as a way to keep a juggle going during an air taunt.
This is super true. The first "technique" I learnt with Nero was infinitely chaining the Calibur attack by using buster punch to cancel the attack knockback and enemy step to reset myself. It was a moment of awakening for me after playing the game in a very basic manner the first time
I actually always interpreted Nero's moves having less flashiness and effects to them as being a result of having his Devil Bringer yeeted, and with it the vast majority of his demonic power. Same with him struggling to lift enemies at first. Gotta remember that technically speaking up until the end of the game Nero's playing life on Hard Mode due to being nerfed by a loss of demonic power, after all. He only starts pulling out the superhuman strength moves again after he gets his Devil Trigger.
That or he uses the Polish style of Saber combat, Polish style relys on Cuts and Leans which explains why Nero always leans with every strike. Coincidentally the style is famously used by the Winged Hussars, was called by German Masters as a "Hellish Cut" and weirdest of all its said by people on the web its as if the practitioners aren't guarding their hands (Should have had that advice sooner huh Nero) Unfortunately Polish style is mostly a lost art of combat, thanks to the ups and downs of Polish history its mostly gone, now modern practioners instead reconstruct it using other styles based on how near they are like German, Turkic/Steppe, Turkish and Hungarian.
They should've made V play more with magic than just the familiars, so he would've made sense for him to just fall back while his familiars grab the enemy's attention.
It's actually wild because I started playing DMC after my partner told me I should around the time you made your first DMC video and fell in love with the games. It's been fun watching you also talk about each game. I've been wanting to go back and play 5 again so this is actually a good reminder

As someone whose first DMC game was DMC 5, playing as V in my first playthrough was my favorite part. His skill floor is really low, and enemies have so little health on the easiest difficulty that you don't notice how low his damage is. Skip ahead a year and 200 hours of play time, and I don't think I've played V at all since getting all the collectables
DMC 5 has become one of my favorite games of all time. I played through the DMC series last summer and discovered your channel looking for reviews, and yours were and are great. I'll be looking forward to what you do with the channel in the future!
I really appreciate the way you have reviewed this game as a person who is new into the series. I have been playing it since 2001 and finished every installment. I think everything you said was perfectly fair. I will say that i personally prefer DMC1 over the reboot as i love the gothic castle design, and love Mundus being an evil allegory for god. Plus, Air Raid and Vortex to me have never been better since DMC1. As for my top it'll have to be DMC3 on Switch with DMC5 only just behind it in second place. The reason i say this as well is that the only issue i had from DMC3 was style switching and the Arkham fight, as most annoying enemies like the angels and the Dullahan can be dealt with by switching to quicksilver and folding them. The Arkham fight, however, is just abysmal. On top of that, the story imo is better in 3, but DMC5s is also good. As for why DMC5 comes up short for me at least. I feel as though DMC3 Switch has proven that Dante doesnt need to be limited to only 4 core styles. Gimmick styles like Doppelganger and Quicksilver can be easily switched to with a double tap of a style button, yet DMC5 removes Dantes Doppelganger and Time manipulation. And while I absolutely LOVE Sin DT and the Quadruple S technique that comes with it, and see Sin DT as the single greatest form in any series ever, i feel like it only almost makes up for Dantes missing powers that he should have. As for level design, I just think Temen-Ni-Gru and Hell in DMC3 are more interesting and varied than the Qliphoth of DMC5. The Temen-Ni-Gru feels like a multidimensional demonic tower, with its waterfalls, strange domains and hovercarts over lava pits that are far larger than the outskirts of the tower (bigger on the inside, as if each section were its own demonic realm). And the depiction of Hell looking quite holy, like a satire of Heaven that defies the laws of physics is just amazing. The Qliphoth could have been much more. As a demonic tree, it could have housed multiple universes or realms representing each boss, given that its implied throughout the series that Hell is multiversal or multidimensional. So many creative domains could have been designed, but as mentioned in the video, it either has a grey/black wood texture with red human blood globs everywhere, or has an insect hive look, save for the prelude to King Cerb where it is icy and looks cool. DMC5 does serve to be a great character study on Vergil through V, highlighting his compassion, regret, trauma and kindness at times, but also his duplicitous and manipulative side, as well as a tragic self-loathing. As the video said, Vs weakness highlights the fact that V isnt simply Vergils human side. V is everything Vergil hates about himself, and every quality he sees as a weakness. For example, his desire to rely on others (to be loved and protected), his desire for family, his interests outside of his quest for power (poetry and classical music). Urizen is there to signify that Vergils quest for power means nothing without his humanity, as unlike V, Urizen hardly has a personality. It is interesting that both V and Urizen hold resentment and rivalry towards Dante, seemingly suggesting that Vergil sees this as both a strength and a weakness; A strength because Dante serves as fuel for his pursuit of power, and a weakness as Dante has previously proven to be Vergils equal and sometimes superior. It could also be a weakness as Vergil sees any family ties as a weakness, which is ironic considering his quest for power is rooted in love for his mother and admiration of his father.
What a banger of a series. Been with it since the PS2 days, love it to this day. Great to watch someone examine the series from a (at least at first) newcomer's perspective and especially great to see them enjoy it! Personally I'm not quite as in love with DMC5 as most in the fandom (mostly because I'd prefer the enemies to be more aggressive in general and because I'd prefer a slightly higher game speed), but I can absolutely understand your ranking. Good stuff!
On the ps 5 there is a mode where you get way more enemies called legendary dark knight mode and there is also turbo mode where the game plays 1.2 times faster

Honestly I dread playing V. Nero is fine, more simple than I would like tbh. Dante is just the best imo, nothing is more satisfying than Royal Guards. Vergil is fun when you just want to obliterate everything.
I have to reduce his options; I'll usually use 2 weapons and 2 guns, otherwise I can never remember what I'm switching to. And with 4 styles combos are still easy and varied.
@@borticus101 Honestly when you unlock irregular full custom, you can do Sword - cerberus - sword - balrog - sword - Cavaliere I do prefer not using cavaliere, so I end up using DSD, Cerberus, Sparda then Balrog.
I love that Nero is so intensely angry but he is actually very sweet and thoughtful. Like sometimes when you're standing around doing nothing he thinks of kyrie and wonders what shes doing. Like even in moments of crisis like the end. Once he gets the chance he goes straight to kyrie for support. And then he combines that with being so hilairously angry "don't fuck with me!"
Genuinely one of my most anticipated videos of the year. Its been awesome watching your journey and I dont plan on leaving just because the DMC saga is over. Excited to see what your future plans are!
"Even with his new power he's not quite able to put Urizen down." Eh, I feel like that's more unwilling hesitation from knowing what Urizen is. Dante's strong enough to *still beat the immensely powered up Urizen later in round 3,* he quite handily schools Urizen in Round 2. Hell, he does so almost as hard as Urizen beat him in Round 1 weeks prior. That's just something of a personal nitpick in the way you said that is all. Also, gotta love that in the midst of saying that it's a shame Nero doesn't have his busters or his Devil Bringer, you show a DMC5 clip of Nero, in DT, bustering an enemy.
no, saying " he's not quite able to put Urizen down" is correct, while dante certainly *would* have won the fight if it had continued, he wasn't strong enough to prevent urizen from escaping. i'm honestly not sure if dante was really going to kill urizen/vergil, i mean, i know he meant to, but in the moment of truth, would he have been *able* to?
@@slkjvlkfsvnlsdfhgdght5447 Don't take my fairly snappy response as a good sign that commenting on years' old things is the usual thing to do. And to answer, not really, I stand by my original point. Dante schools Urizen in Round 2. The only reason he doesn't stop Urizen from escaping is because he hesitates from the tree doing more of its devil shit. Being distracted from stopping Urizen and being _unable_ to stop him are very different. And in the third round, after he beats a far stronger Urizen, yes, he appears to be completely willing to kill him. Remember, as much as he hated doing it, Dante made the vow to stop Vergil by any means necessary (up to and including killing him) even so far back as DMC3. He never wants to, but he's willing to if its necessary, and it was. He didn't even want Vergil to come back, given that he was trying to stop V, and at the end of the game the only reason they don't (more than likely) kill each other in a draw is because Nero steps in. Dante, since practically his inception, has always known that stopping Vergil may mean killing him, and he's always vowed to stop him.
"This is Dante's game." ->Game is about vergil hiring vergil and vergils son to defeat vergil in order to become vergil again. SE featuring vergil. So no its not dantes game

I was hoping to get your thoughts on the Dante boss fight in this game, it's my personal favorite fight in the series, although the Vergil fight in DMC5 is an incredibly close second.
Donguri just produced another dmc 4 video. Not surprising after all these years he still came back to play it. Has some great enemies and bosses, and Dante's high-level mechanics which aren't in dmc 5 are really rewarding.
Now if only we could get a DMC 2 for the reboot. I loved it. This coming from a fan of the series since the first game DMC5 was also absolutely amazing.
I feel V's playstyle would be an interesting style change for vergil akin to Dante style changers. Give Vergil a secondary sword for dual wielding, his old kit, and V's cane to summon beast instead of swords and you got a refreshed Vergil to play as.
Now that you did this, time to do on the game that Actually started this Franchise Combat mechanics, Onimusha. For those who are not aware, Devil May Cry Air Combo that every one loves was created because of a bug on Onimusha Warlords that allowed the monsters to be kept in air the dev loved, and decided to bring this mechanic as a core idea on Devil May Cry.
I have a head canon that the brothers and Nero use real life styles of Sword arts based on the weapons they use and it also reflects somewhat on the boss fights. Dante = Liechtenauer or German Fencing, this style is aggressive, attacks are both used for offense and defense, unusual from other Longsword styles, Liechtenauer uses mostly Slashes and Cuts, its main Philosophy is Momentum (Before) is king if you lose the momentum to the enemy you would lose so take it quickly and avoid reacting (After) *Interesting note: it was supposedly a secret style passed down by its founder Johannes Liechtenauer so instead of the typical of leaving his students notes from his lectures he instead gave them a Poem called the Zettel which contains hints on his teachings. (Kind of fitting Dante studies a style that he can turn to a Rock Song if he likes, not to mention Liechtenauer has some attacks that looks like the practioner is styling on the enemy fencer some of which are intentional, a perfect example of this is a mover where the attacker presses the Pummel of the sword on the hands of the enemy as he slashes upwards while you slash downwards towards his arm or torso.) Vergil = Yagyu Shinkagen Ryu, this style is the inverse of most Kenjutsu styles, instead teaching Caution, Quickness and footwork instead of aggression, the School focuses as well on the environment and to use it in fights and to adapt to the weapons of the enemy as much as you study the art of the school. *interesting note: the School was founded by a Buddist Monk named Kamiizumi Nobutsuna. (Kind of ironic the power hungry, socially darwinistic book worm studies and practices the style of steotypically Pacifistic Monks) Nero = Polish Style Saber combat, its likely that the Red Queen is just a stylised Anime Saber based on how it was used in 4, Polish saber uses mostly Cuts and Leans even more so than most saber styles, its aggression was noted as a "Hellish Cut" by German Masters and was famously used by the Winged Hussars which as the name suggests had wings on their sadles to intimidate enemies. (Also its noted in the web as not protecting the hands much lol) *interesting note: this style is mostly lost due tonthe turbulent history of Poland, much of it is reconstructed using other arts like German, Turkish, Turkic/Steppe and Hungarian styles.

Nero: "Fuck that guy! I don't care if he's your brother I'm gonna kick his ass."
Dante: "He's your dad."
Nero: "... But why we gotta fight though?"
I mean, if I can believe it when it was Luke Skywalker to Darth Vader, I can believe it now.
Nero is a tsundere.
"I don't care if she's a girl or a baby or somebody else's grandmother. I'll still fight them!".
He left when I was born and hasn't paid any child support imma kick his ass
This is literally what happened with me hahahaha
Donte
Honestly, it most likely has to do with the Definitive Edition of DmC. Which made a mediocre game into a solid one.
For real face animations are so good, I could watch a whole movie in this engine, with this design and animation style
All thanks to the re engine.
No you don't. You can just spam and get SSS. V is the easiest to style with.

My only problem with dmc 3, as mentioned in the video, are some of the enemies are just fucking horrendouse on higher difficulties. Mainly the archers. Dmc v had some tough ones and the protoangelos had way to much health when DT popped but I never felt like a level was ruined by them.

One thing to note with Royal Guard. Perfect guarding doesn't just preserve your DT, it generates DT. So if you git gud at parrying, you can have tons of DT gauge to use. Similarly, using a Trickster dash to go through an active attack will also generate a smaller amount of DT.

honestly being unable to change enemies you're locked onto while moving in DMC5 is more noticeable than in DMC4, it might just be because DMC5 really promotes movement in combat more than DMC4 does, and yes I didn't even notice that in DMC4 you couldn't change who you were locked onto without standing still. but it was very noticeable in DMC5
Its pretty noticeable at high levels of play in 4, but by that point you play half unlocked anyways
@@BlazeMakesGames maybe something like new forms for them?
Vergil also passed his torch to Nero, both through his poetry book and the story theme of "Power! More power!"

And worse, some are locked behind a paywall
Yeah as far as an actual game it's outstanding, but as far as collectables there is almost nothing. I'm not a big collectable person most the time anyways but even I thought it was an odd change

The first "technique"
I learnt with Nero was infinitely chaining the Calibur attack by using buster punch to cancel the attack knockback and enemy step to reset myself.
Him being able to as much as he did with that much power lost is astounding
That or he uses the Polish style of Saber combat, Polish style relys on Cuts and Leans which explains why Nero always leans with every strike.
Coincidentally the style is famously used by the Winged Hussars, was called by German Masters as a "Hellish Cut" and weirdest of all its said by people on the web its as if the practitioners aren't guarding their hands (Should have had that advice sooner huh Nero)
Unfortunately Polish style is mostly a lost art of combat, thanks to the ups and downs of Polish history its mostly gone, now modern practioners instead reconstruct it using other styles based on how near they are like German, Turkic/Steppe, Turkish and Hungarian.
I found you when you made the review on DMC 4 and I’m so happy you finally got around to this one.

Glad u had a fun time
I think everything you said was perfectly fair.

"Even with his new power he's not quite able to put Urizen down."
Eh, I feel like that's more unwilling hesitation from knowing what Urizen is.

@@SmashSSL You're right, I simply always see the giant V behind the logo and assume "oh that's the 5 in the logo"

It's been a year in a half already? Well I'll definitely stick around and watch your videos, love your editing style and love your view points. Thank you for making this series I was really interested in your opinion on the series.
Wow, great video 😊 I'm so proud of you. Keep up the good work... Love Dani
i´d like to see you do a retrospective of the soulsborne series just as you did with DMC. either by starting from Demon´s Souls or Dark Souls 1. It´d be interesting
YES!!!
You’re goated for having the Trunks theme playing most of this review! It’s sooo good bruh🙏🏾
This was and always has been my GOTY of 2019
Me too bud. Sekiro is a fun game but DMC5 really hits that sweet spot for my love of action games.
@@boooomerwang sekiro is probably my favourite souls like but i can't compare it to my favourite action game, so i agree
So I did something I don’t normally do. I subscribed. Just watched every DMC video from start to finish and as a lifelong fan I’ve gotta say, bravo. GREAT content. To the extent I hope your channel grows and regardless of what game you cover I can tell it’s gonna be top notch content. You clearly played, enjoyed and appreciated the franchise for what it is. If you happen to be a final fantasy fan like me I’m curious for 16 as that is definitely gonna have similar DMC vibes and I can’t wait. Keep at it!

Ah, I see you're a man of culture as well.
The beginning background music. Bloody fucking Stream. Respect.
The reboot was actually my favorite. I play that one more than all the other ones!
Now if only we could get a DMC 2 for the reboot. I loved it. This coming from a fan of the series since the first game DMC5 was also absolutely amazing.
The game was very fun and I thought the story was good but the dialogue was all over the place.
@@cronobreakers1 Oh it definitely has its issues. No question about that.
I feel V's playstyle would be an interesting style change for vergil akin to Dante style changers. Give Vergil a secondary sword for dual wielding, his old kit, and V's cane to summon beast instead of swords and you got a refreshed Vergil to play as.
Then vergil's gonna go the way of swordguntrickroyalswordguntrick and so on and soforth
I was hoping he would talk about how fun the Dante boss fight is as soon as he mentioned the Vergil DLC
Yeah i was looking forward to that too its so cool to figth agaist the tools you have used for so long
I have a head canon that the brothers and Nero use real life styles of Sword arts based on the weapons they use and it also reflects somewhat on the boss fights.
Dante = Liechtenauer or German Fencing, this style is aggressive, attacks are both used for offense and defense, unusual from other Longsword styles, Liechtenauer uses mostly Slashes and Cuts, its main Philosophy is Momentum (Before) is king if you lose the momentum to the enemy you would lose so take it quickly and avoid reacting (After)
*Interesting note: it was supposedly a secret style passed down by its founder Johannes Liechtenauer so instead of the typical of leaving his students notes from his lectures he instead gave them a Poem called the Zettel which contains hints on his teachings. (Kind of fitting Dante studies a style that he can turn to a Rock Song if he likes, not to mention Liechtenauer has some attacks that looks like the practioner is styling on the enemy fencer some of which are intentional, a perfect example of this is a mover where the attacker presses the Pummel of the sword on the hands of the enemy as he slashes upwards while you slash downwards towards his arm or torso.)
Vergil = Yagyu Shinkagen Ryu, this style is the inverse of most Kenjutsu styles, instead teaching Caution, Quickness and footwork instead of aggression, the School focuses as well on the environment and to use it in fights and to adapt to the weapons of the enemy as much as you study the art of the school.
*interesting note: the School was founded by a Buddist Monk named Kamiizumi Nobutsuna. (Kind of ironic the power hungry, socially darwinistic book worm studies and practices the style of steotypically Pacifistic Monks)
Nero = Polish Style Saber combat, its likely that the Red Queen is just a stylised Anime Saber based on how it was used in 4, Polish saber uses mostly Cuts and Leans even more so than most saber styles, its aggression was noted as a "Hellish Cut" by German Masters and was famously used by the Winged Hussars which as the name suggests had wings on their sadles to intimidate enemies. (Also its noted in the web as not protecting the hands much lol)
*interesting note: this style is mostly lost due tonthe turbulent history of Poland, much of it is reconstructed using other arts like German, Turkish, Turkic/Steppe and Hungarian styles.
@Forick Grimaldus V = *Pokemon trainer intensifies*
@@machi8976 actually people in the Victorian era used Canes for self-defense they even have cane swords which are the inspiration for bloodborn's weapons.
Youre so talented man, I hope at some point you will commit full time and I hope that will be a succes!
Always great to see another motivated one give praise to the adventures of the wacky woohoo pizza man.
OK, the opening music at the first SECOND! This tells me that the video will be cool!
34:59 Underated moment. 🤣
thanks for all of the DMC content and taking the time to do this. Watched all the vids, (even the DMC2 and reboot ones). I was pretty turned off by DMC 4 it being the only dmc game I bought and never got through a single playthrough resulting in me skipping 5 altogether. Looking forward to giving 5 a shot based on this video and info provided, thanks again.
The biggest issue with DmC was the new Dante, the teenager who tells people to kill themselves online is not the Dante we loved
If only "the Dante we loved" fanbase was a little bigger. DmC still wound up selling more than DMC 5 🤷♂
@@travistotle And DMC 2 sold more than DMC 1, which in turn hurt the sales of DMC 3, but does that mean DMC 2 was the best?
@@liviekumori Nah, that's not true. DMC 2 sold less than DMC 1. Although looking at the numbers again, it looks like they counted the figures from the DmC Definitive Edition in the total DmC sales compared to DMC 5, where they didn't actually count the DMC 5 Special Edition figures. That's weird.
I don't remember which video you were at when I started following this plot but I'm glad to see you make it all the way through.
I thought I couldn’t love this game more
Then I played Vergil and fought Dante
