Yo! History behind the warrior, long time fan of your vids. Like most, if not all, of your fellow views and fans I am all for new franchises getting highlighted. Yet I do have to wonder, will you ever return to the darkstalkers franchise and finish the history of their characters? I understand there isn't much lore around capcom's criminally underrated fighting game equal to streetfighter, but it's for completion sake.
It's actually surprising thing that Nero's Mother somehow got Vergil's attention, especially in his mental shape (feelings of guilt, hatred upon himself, PTSD, probably even insomnia). When Vergil actually remembered her, looks, instead, very naturally. Because he's the elder son, he has responsibility.
Fun Fact: Daniel Southworth, Vergil's voice actor is the actor for the Quantum Ranger in Power Rangers Time Force. Vergil son, Nero, is voiced by Johnny Yong Bosch, who was a Power Ranger in the 90s.
I love how Vergil’s plan literally has no downsides, Urizen, bud demon half, is only focused on gaining power, which works in Vergil’s interest. If Urizen is killed, then V gets to live as a human, with a new life, a new perspective, and all is well, and when they inevitably merge, Urizen’s power hunger will have given Virgil a shit ton of power he’ll never know the consequences of, as those buffs are made for demons. Ughhh genius
Vergil never mentioned or feel abandoned/betray by his mother. That's Dante interpretation/viewpoint. He actually feels powerless/guilt for the death of his mother. That's what drive him.
Its one of the things I really disliked about DMC5 I understand that Vergil is best known as the peak of a rival character but the thing I always loved about their relationship was how friendly it was despite them being completely different in goals. Making Vergil in 5 just be butt hurt about losing to Dante and thinking that Eva didn’t love him as much as Dante really sucks its really just waters his interesting personality and speech about power from seemingly being Vergil angred by his own weakness and inability to save his family (also hence why he seemingly purposely activated Dante’s devil form) instead of just killing him. Now he’s just jealous of Dante being cooler than him
Keep in mind Vergil can break the fatherless cycle. Every member of Devil May Cry has father issues. Nero still has his father so I hope that we can see those two connect.

Quick correction: you keep calling the order the Order of Light. I don't know about the anime or manga, but in the games the antagonists of DMC4 is called the Order of the Sword.
I think why Vergil accepting his humanity causes a power surge is because think of it like this: power for the sake of power is meaningless while power with the *motivation* to protect loved ones is truly zenith.
Dante say it, when he first saw and fought nero at the church he noticed the ressemblance with his brother and the fact he got a devil bringer ( who is literally physical manisfestation of having 1/4 of demon blood ) and when he rematch his nephew and saw how the yamato have reacted to nero he knew only vergil's son can reforge yamato that's why he call nero deadweight to prevent him to try to kill his father because dante knew by expérience that people cant kill his father and live with it ( lady said she never came back from killing Arkham ) Dante often plays dumb but he is smart, and if his personnality was a litlle more serious he could guess V's plan to reunite with himself by himself or maybe by taking time to listening trish
You shouldn’t limit yourself to just the fighting genre when there are so many badass warriors in other types of games to tell the tales of. Great video. Makes me want to pick up dmc 5 now.
A friend told me this. Nelo Angelo's was originally Nero Angelo which is italian for black angel but since the asian abcent turns the R into an L people now know as Nelo Angelo.
Hands down, the greatest sibling rivalry in a video game - Dante Vs Vergil. So we all love Dante and we have plenty of reasons for this. So what makes you love Vergil? It's the fact that he's too motivated to give up. When you knock him down, he'll get right back up with more determination. "IAM THE STORM THAT IS approaching."
Great video but I'd have liked a little mention that Vergil's nightmares stay outside of his body instead of going back so that Vergil could live with less PTSD this time. Also the fact Nero fought him to end the sibling rivalry so the brothers would stop trying to kill each other.
if there was a point where someone or something connects others mind, Dante would show the memory that their mother was looking for them and everything in the story line would have changed. but I guess it's a good thing it didn't happen, or we wouldn't have Bury the Light
I'm very glad to hear that devil may cry 5 got you into the series and I'm especially happy about this video! I have been waiting for a video like this. Vergil has always been my absolute favorite. I have had a hard time finding more info besides the generic description of the game plots. Thank you, sir.
Let's not forget one major point, that was kinda only glanzed over. Vergils hate for (his) humanity and love for (his) demonkind is based on his childhood trauma. He's a child, who was abandoned by his mother, a human, who only survived thanks to his fathers power, a demon. For this he hates humanity and his human side, which he considers weak, untrustworthy and unreliable. Dante on the other hand has quite literally the opposite view. His mother, a human, saved his life by sacrificing hers. If his father, a demon, wouldn't have been the Dark Knight Sparda, but just a regular human, or simply hadn't abandoned his family, he wouldn't have lost his mother and his brother on that day. Dante however realises through DMC3, that his father sacrificed himself as well, in order to protect not just his family, but humanity itself and accepts his demonic heritage. Vergil on the other hand only in the newest installment learns of what actually happened on that faithful day and starts doubting his very reason for existaence, but can't stop now, not after everything he's done, not after giving up everything. If you listen to "Bury the Light", Vergils battle theme in V, there are the following lines: "Bury the light deep within! Cast aside, there's no coming home! We're burning chaos in the wind! Drifting in the ocean all alone!" He is not a bad person by nature, he's a misguided child, who lost his family and thought of himself as being alone. He buried his happiness and humanity deep within. There is no home, no place for him to return to. He truly believes, that he is all alone and will forever be all alone in this world/ocean. If he had just given in to his humanity sooner, if he hadn't tried to bury his humanity, he may would have ended up with a brother who truly loves him and a family that he could love, cherish and protect, but Fate just didn't allow for his life to play out that way. But now, after all this, he finally realised, that he's not actually alone. His brother, who was his rival since they were children, is still alive and happy to have him back (altough he would never outright say that). His own offspring and a chance to give to him something, that he never had, a father who can train, help and protect him. Once he finishes the business with Dante in the demonic realm, he has finally a place to return to and something to look forward to. So in a sense, his quest for more power is finally over
The song Bury the Light piqued my interest and here I am now watching this amazing history of Vergil. I want to get the dmcse for ps5 but I’m not sure if all this background history would be in there. Nice vid!
Vergil and Dante kinda remind me of Knives and Vash from Trigun, although I think Knives is more vicious than Vergil. This older DMC5 Vergil evolved into a totally different person compared to DMC3, definitely more approachable. Maybe Capcom meant to convey that his near-death experiences would have changed him profoundly. I still find it hard to imagine whatever went on with Nero's mother, though. I mean, she must have been quite a character to spark Vergil's interest. Or he was taken advantage of, somehow... which is even harder to imagine XD
One funny thing to me is how it's said that Vergil and Dante are stuck in Hell, when they have the Yamato with them, which was used about a month before by Urizen to open up a portal between the mortal realm and the underworld to let the Qliphoth through. My guess is that portals inside one world are fine and simple, but maybe ones between the two worlds require additional rituals that aren't so straightforward.
I like playing as Virgil but personally I'm fairly set on the original ending being Canonical. I like Virgil and Dante having a better relationship at the end
This video was really well done i enjoyed it alot it made me know more than what I know of Virgil It would be cool if you did a video of Nero or trish. But it is refreshing that you did a video of a different video game series of that I know of you doing like mortal Kombat and tekken etc just fighting games in general lol even though virgil and dante are in a fighting game but even so keep up the good work.
MISSING (some small detail LIKE the reason behind the VIRGIL SMILE): FIRST THX, I REALLY ENJOYED THE VIDEO Because there's a lot I didn't know about history. Secondly, when Virgil was in two separate forms (v & Urizen) He has some interesting experience wich change him after being united: V: at his weakest point (desperate time like when he experienced while he was a child) THIS TIME he gets the help he needed from Nero. (and later when Virgil thanked Nero for his help, show that Virgil actually remembers what happened in two separate mods). Urizen: heard from Dante That his mother in fact looking for him till she died. and these two causes to redeem or resolving Some of Virgil‘s Knot(hate) and also we saw later Dante kill three (Griffen, Nightmare, Shadow) Which represents Virgil's hate and bad memories. and killing these three could be a metaphor for killing Virgil‘s hate. (at first, this level of the game doesn't make much sense to me.) AND SO: WE SAW THE FAMOUS SMILE(TWICE). AND ALSO: WE SAW he gave the BOOK to Nero Wich he kept and treasured all these years.(Nero ALready has the power Witch Virgils doesn't understand, so THE BOOK is a more fatherly gift figure to YAMATO. I personally think it's a big part of the story but didn't see yet much attention or explanation to this part of the story or the reason why Dante go with Virgil or Why Virgil let Dante come with him (which have some similar explaining but i don't think anyone even read this comment;) )
Sparda went to the store to pick up some milk.... Same goes for Vergil...Buying milk even before Nero's birth....damn this demons are great at dodging Child Support
The entire game story is kinda weird as the first game is the 3rd or 2nd on the story.. feels so weird to have it this way it's really confusing to get it all together. Solid video.
Yuuusssss do more dmc lore!!!!! While dmc is not a fighting game per say, like a fighting game you are more successful at learning combos and strategizing against your opponents
There are two reasons why Nero beat Vergil, the first reason is because Dante had wounded him (if only a little), and the second reason is beginners luck.
Awesome video man! Vergil is my favorite DMC character and seeing him return in 5 was so damn cool. Id love to see more history of videos for this universe!! I love that you included the manga stories too! Where did the first few images come from?
YES ,Mortal Kombat is my second favorite game and now Devil May Cry which IS my favorite game ,what a lucky life. Also i like how u said netherlearm instead of hell or the underworld XD
Amazing lore & depth towards this character and a first time of a history that not fighting games and hope you can keep doing devil may cry history in the future good luck 👍.
I've always loved the DMC series (minus The DMC game), and Vergil has always been intriguing, especially after playing 3. Thanks for doing this one, since there were a few parts of this story (namely part 5, which i never got around to playing) that i was unaware of.
I'm pretty sure in DMC 3, It wasn't Dante's Humanity that made Vergil sure that Dante would come. Dante before DMC3 didn't had the mentality that it's his responsibility to clean up Spardas mess. It was only after interacting with Lady that he recognized his demonic heritage and with it, his responsibility as the son of Sparda. He less into saving the world and more into killing the Demons that killed his mother. It more on their Rivalry that made Vergil sure Dante would visit. There was also a year time gap from when they fought last time and when Temen Ni Gru was erected as from the "It's been a year since we've last met" dialogue Dante had . Just some nitpicks.
Just a heads up before some of you ask!

Yes I do want a Dante one and a Nero one. Also read visions of V
Fun fact : u forgot to pin this
Ima new sub and I was looking for it
"The sins of the father"
*metal gear solid playing in the background*
raiden whenever a boss fight: *intense jamming*
*snake eater starts playing
For some reason, I was thinking Vergil saying “I need more Quantum Power”.
That’s cause his voice actor played the Quantum Ranger in Power Rangers:Time Force and also did the voice for him in the Power Rangers fighting game
A missed opportunity was if Vergil could use both Urizen and V's power at the same time with his own.
He's already way OP , if they would add what you suggested there's no point playing the game
"Where did you learn to count?!"
"We're even!"
“Is *POWER* an instrument?”
No Vergil, *POWER* is not an instrument.
Vergil: **raises his arm again**
Dante: Neither your son's arm.
"MOTIVATION is not an instrument either"
17:15 "Devil May Cry is a very special game to me" I feel the exact same way, I grew up with this game with my first one being dmc3. I love the dmc fandom SOO much and I am happy to be able to share similar experiences and memories about a franchise we all hold so dear to our hearts ❤
Urizen: I am without a name. I am POWER! Absolute.
V: I have no name, I am but three days old
Since you've done Virgil I wouldn't mind you doing a History of Dante video. can't do one Son of Sparda without the other.
It's not that different of a story just a different perspective
Yep.
vErgil*
I agree
I think the games explain Dante pretty well especially dmc 5
Quick correction: you keep calling the order the Order of Light. I don't know about the anime or manga, but in the games the antagonists of DMC4 is called the Order of the Sword.
And just like that the entire subscriber base of History Behind the Warrior became motivated
The storm is approaching
@@nathancarabajal8271 provoking black clouds of isolation
Thank You HBTW for bringing up Devil May Cry content. The Sons of Sparda have always been my favorite video game characters of all time.
I think why Vergil accepting his humanity causes a power surge is because think of it like this: power for the sake of power is meaningless while power with the *motivation* to protect loved ones is truly zenith.
I want to know when and how Dante himself discovered that he was an uncle.
It's when he saw how Vergil's sword reacted to Nero
@@Tytrovy he probably had suspicions from the opening fight of DMC 4, the yamato's reaction just confirmed it for him.
Dante say it, when he first saw and fought nero at the church he noticed the ressemblance with his brother and the fact he got a devil bringer ( who is literally physical manisfestation of having 1/4 of demon blood ) and when he rematch his nephew and saw how the yamato have reacted to nero he knew only vergil's son can reforge yamato that's why he call nero deadweight to prevent him to try to kill his father because dante knew by expérience that people cant kill his father and live with it ( lady said she never came back from killing Arkham )
Dante often plays dumb but he is smart, and if his personnality was a litlle more serious he could guess V's plan to reunite with himself by himself or maybe by taking time to listening trish
Its basically implied in the DMC 4 story that Dante knew all along, I mean who else had white hair in their teens other than his Brother.
Imagine Dante knew Nero is his nephew: "Oh damn, Vergil have a sex?"
Better than "Nero Angero"
Hands down, the greatest sibling rivalry in a video game - Dante Vs Vergil.
So we all love Dante and we have plenty of reasons for this.
So what makes you love Vergil? It's the fact that he's too motivated to give up. When you knock him down, he'll get right back up with more determination. "IAM THE STORM THAT IS approaching."
Actually they had met before the events of devil may cry 3 bit before a year.
Yeah he mentioned it ;) it took place in the comic book ;)
His intro music: Rules of Nature
The video: About a white haired, katana-wielding badass
Hmm...
Well Raiden is lightning so vergil being the storm while Raiden being the lightning
Raiden is sort of silver haired and also wields a katana. Similar attributes.
Rules of demonic nature.
I AM THE STORM THAT IS APPROOOOOACHING!
You... Again
Great video but I'd have liked a little mention that Vergil's nightmares stay outside of his body instead of going back so that Vergil could live with less PTSD this time. Also the fact Nero fought him to end the sibling rivalry so the brothers would stop trying to kill each other.
They began their rivalry when kid vergil wants more chocolate and wants dante's chocolate even he got his own
How i love this channel for covering my favorite fiction character
if there was a point where someone or something connects others mind, Dante would show the memory that their mother was looking for them and everything in the story line would have changed.
but I guess it's a good thing it didn't happen, or we wouldn't have Bury the Light
I'm very glad to hear that devil may cry 5 got you into the series and I'm especially happy about this video! You did a very good job detailing the history of the V man and as always, it is fun to hear and learn about DMC lore, even if the stories are to quote some people Capcom fun stupid. Great job and I really hope to see some more of these types of videos based on game characters!
Fun fact, Vergil's name in DMC1 is actually Nero Angelo not Nelo Angelo. It was a typo mistake by the English translation team at Capcom.
Thank you for making this! I don't have time to play all the games, this answered my questions perfectly. I look forward to more DMC content.
6:05 actually, it has just been a year. Because one year before temen ni gru dante met vergil, dressed in a green suit and Bandage around the face. Vergil called himself gilver that time
Gilver get retcon by Capcom and change his identy as another Angelo's.
@@sulthanarya3281 Did they really? Damn those books really made the story flow well
@@ThaKillFeed yeah thats a good thing, if they stick to Kamiya story which doesn't get retcon, Vergil should be dead before the DMC 3 and DMC 1 events since Dante killed him.
Man, this was a blast to watch! I believe you when you said you had fun making this, cause it shows. While DMC might not be a fighting game, it is probably as close as you're gonna get. I love this series so much, and hope to see more DMC content on this channel in the future.
I have been waiting for a video like this. Vergil has always been my absolute favorite. I have had a hard time finding more info besides the generic description of the game plots. Thank you, sir.
Me seeing Vergil's name: *I AM THE STORM THAT IS APPROACHING*
*PROVOOOOOKING BLACK CLOUDS IN ISOLATION*
*I AM RECLAIMER OF MY NAAAAME*
BORN IN FLAME! I HAVE BEEN BLESSED!
I am the storm that is approaching, provoking black clouds in isolation.
This was a great video. Almost makes me like Vergil. Then I remember him in Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 and think f*ck him 😂😂😂
Don't hate the player, hate the Game.
@@SuperFusionAJ93 so you're a Vergil main. I hate you.
(not really. But then really.)
@@Yawdan
What I meant is it's not Vergil's fault, Just saying Marvel 3 is hella busted in general.
Well done on this buddy I love me some mortal kombat but I wanna learn more about Devil May Cry also and I'm glad you chose this character thanks!
If you listen to "Bury the Light", Vergils battle theme in V, there are the following lines:
"Bury the light deep within!
Cast aside, there's no coming home!
We're burning chaos in the wind!
Drifting in the ocean all alone!"
He is not a bad person by nature, he's a misguided child, who lost his family and thought of himself as being alone.
So in a sense, his quest for more power is finally over
He still gets playful when he recalls their childhood memories.
Vergil is the foundation of the rival character, unless yall can think of someone else. Maybe Liquid Snake, Ken from Street Fighter, or even Sub-zero
So happy you branched out to a non fighting game series and one I love at that! I always thought you would be perfect going into the lore of dmc
Very good video. I loooooove Vergil. Everything about him is amazing.
The song Bury the Light piqued my interest and here I am now watching this amazing history of Vergil. I want to get the dmcse for ps5 but I’m not sure if all this background history would be in there. Nice vid!
God, I hope you got DMC1234 or 5 instead of the shitty emo reboot.
The fact that the video is based off of Vergil, he used “rules if nature” as his intro
These types of videos must shock people that only think your a Mortal Kombat Channel
Bro! Thanks for doing The Alpha and The Omega video
The lore of Virgil is long and amazing.
You just cleared all the little confusions I had about Virgil's story
MISSING
(some small detail LIKE the reason behind the VIRGIL SMILE):
FIRST THX, I REALLY ENJOYED THE VIDEO Because there's a lot I didn't know about history.
Secondly, when Virgil was in two separate forms (v & Urizen) He has some interesting experience wich change him after being united:
V: at his weakest point (desperate time like when he experienced while he was a child) THIS TIME he gets the help he needed from Nero. (and later when Virgil thanked Nero for his help, show that Virgil actually remembers what happened in two separate mods).
Urizen: heard from Dante That his mother in fact looking for him till she died.
and these two causes to redeem or resolving Some of Virgil‘s Knot(hate)
and also we saw later Dante kill three (Griffen, Nightmare, Shadow) Which represents Virgil's hate and bad memories.
and killing these three could be a metaphor for killing Virgil‘s hate. (at first, this level of the game doesn't make much sense to me.)
AND SO: WE SAW THE FAMOUS SMILE(TWICE).
There still few Mystery History of Devil May Cry still not solve yet.....BUT i want to say nice Vergil History Video Right Now i Really Love it.
Its funny how from begin to end vergil and dante always end up with an even score
Good job this made me wanna play thru devil may cry series again 👍
The entire game story is kinda weird as the first game is the 3rd or 2nd on the story.. feels so weird to have it this way it's really confusing to get it all together. Solid video.
Yuuusssss do more dmc lore!!!!! While dmc is not a fighting game per say, like a fighting game you are more successful at learning combos and strategizing against your opponents
"Power.. I need more POWER!!"
This is the only UA-camr who pronounced the word Yamato correctly.
I hope we get another game. They ain't done
ChampionAnalysis and this channel know the details about DMC story!
Is really rare to find youtube channel who know details about this game.
Devil May Cry is my favorite game franchise and I will love for you to do more content
Foolishness Dante Foolishness
Considering I didn't play DMC5 and its been entirely too long since I played 1 through 4, this was excellent.
Tris in the anime looks like that vampire lady
There are two reasons why Nero beat Vergil, the first reason is because Dante had wounded him (if only a little), and the second reason is beginners luck.
In my opinion Dante and Vergil story not over yet, they will came back one last time i predict ;)
Awesome video man! Vergil is my favorite DMC character and seeing him return in 5 was so damn cool. Id love to see more history of videos for this universe!! I love that you included the manga stories too! Where did the first few images come from?
Thank you for providing Vergil's history
Excelent video!!!! Make more videos of DMC, your job with Vergil was cool!
Good video Virgil is definitely one of my faves in dmc wonder if there will be a 6th instalment
YES ,Mortal Kombat is my second favorite game and now Devil May Cry which IS my favorite game ,what a lucky life. Also i like how u said netherlearm instead of hell or the underworld XD
Vergil :
Thank you... History Behind The Warrior...
Amazing lore & depth towards this character and a first time of a history that not fighting games and hope you can keep doing devil may cry history in the future good luck 👍.
I would love more DMC content.youre so detailed with lore itd be amazing.
I saw this twice!! Once i just listened to it,and the second time i really paid attention so you're welcome HBW
Actually bro nightmare is a creature danto had to fight and it had forms the last form of him is compined devil bosses inside of his body
Thanks. This was better than other videos on Vergil
I've always loved the DMC series (minus The DMC game), and Vergil has always been intriguing, especially after playing 3. Thanks for doing this one, since there were a few parts of this story (namely part 5, which i never got around to playing) that i was unaware of.
At least the DMC game did opened up a possibility for one alternate reality candidate of Nero's mother
Lmao
