It's a boring topic that get's overlooked, but briefing family members on cybersecurity could save a lot of heartache. Usually a lot of the family is vulnerable.
I feel like a lot of the fear around AI is overblown. Like he said it's always a human action that allows the scam to take place. People have to be smarter.
I've had those messages on my phone saying my information has been part of a data leak. Is there anything that I can do? Or do all the bad guys on the dark web now know my address and what I had for breakfast?
I didn't really understand the ransom part. Is the customer support pretending to help the victim against the ransomware or are they like "Oh yeah we're definitely the ones after your money, but we'll make it a courteous and seamless experience so you can get back to work ASAP."
Great news is that most Africans use languages that AI would take centuries to understand or even have access to. Bad news is that social media(and a certain weird generation that shan't be named) keeps posting everything for AI models to crawl the internet and find them.
I agree that a lot of cybercrime is due to human error and it’s frustrating to see people fall for such obvious scams

I like the emphasis on educating the public about cyber threats. Awareness is the first step in prevention.
Great talk !
Knife prop was dead on. Didn't try some ridiculous analogy to set the scene. Tops 👍
Wow, a safe word now has 2 very important applications!
excellent
simply put, AI terrifies me

AI does present risks, but I believe it's also our responsibility to innovate responsibly and ethically.
It's fascinating-and a bit disturbing-to think of cybercrime as a multi-trillion dollar industry. How did we get here?
Despite the dark side of AI, I'm optimistic about it's unlimited potential to improve lives if we have the proper guidelines!
Use your powers/chatbots for good people.
Gem !!
If that was the only dark side, my fear is much wider spread
What are the regulations in place to stop people using AI to manipulate the likeness of real people?
Yep, after years of doing nothing I'm downloading a VPN this very instant.
NordVPN is the way to go do not get a US based VPN if located inside the US...

Deepfakes are a real concern. It's already hard to tell, but give it a year and you won't have a hope of knowing what's real and what isn't!
Security questions will get weird because of that population that forgets their own passcodes and even can't memorize such things.

3rd largest economy! Daaammnn, these guys are making bank!!
Deepfakes are so alarming, and they're only getting better.
You can't blame the tech for human stvpidity. Grandkids never call their grandparents.

It's the "Oh yeah [...]" lmao

Real lack of diversity in the FBI's most wanted list. Where's the equality of outcome people?
Am I the only one who thinks this is already way outta hand??
