I smoked and did drugs as a teen but I stopped when I turned twenty. I hope I didn't do long term damage. Changed my environment start reading books more. Got away from my friends who were taking drugs. I'm 36 now and those friends I hear are still taking drugs.

What I always tell myself is... Take the risk of permanent damage seriously, but also don't underestimate the body's power to heal and adjust, especially the brain. The brain is amazingly pliable if you exercise it like a muscle, take care of yourself, and try to avoid things like stress.

      Wow..well done I say.
      Don't worry..just believe you've done a good thing.
Watch Barbara O'neill on the brain. You've actually rewired your brain.
Most importantly trust in Jesus & renew your mind by reading the word of God. Scripture says it washes our minds. Read John & take particular note of 1:1-14..its so exciting to find who Jesus actually is..then look at Colossians 1:12-18. After John I suggest Romans.
Look up on Google..of you don't have a Bible..KJV & then reread it in NLT.

I have wondered how to enjoy retirement past what I have already done? Volunteer work, travel, writing poetry, helping others, etc.
I have had to face numerous mental and physical problems but my anxiety and depression disorders got controlled and I no longer are bothered by them! It’s my other worries that keep me from being able to enjoy my end life like blood clots, kidney disease, falls, mild dementia, and I take too many pills!! I want to get more exercise but I still have nerve damage problems.
Any ideas how I can get through all this? How I spend my time is trying to help others and that helps me!!
      Anything else I could do?

Sadly my ex-husband died from Alzeimers and we put down to bad diet of living off sodas (aspartamine sugar free.. Bad news) and chocolates. Re-wiring those old bad thoughts with positive affirmations keep it simple think of just one good thing about yourself and every time you have a bad thought repetitively repeat that good affirmation mentally and in time you will have more positive affirmations and at the same time you’ll be re-wiring for healthy thoughts!!🙏

+gloria guerra Prayers are with you Gloria. However not even the most sincere ones would alone change any of the conditions you mentioned above. Your will to change on the other hand will pay off but only if you worked hard toward your goals. Now I can keep telling you this motivational crap the whole day, it will be just that, merely a motivation. But, what if instead of just reading this comment from a random guy that clearly can't just mind his own business and going on with your life, you took a second to think. I want you Gloria to find a moment and a place where you're alone and think about what you can do , think about actions that you can take to solve your problems. I can probably give you some as working out so that you lose weight or adopting a healthy diet for your blood and diabetes problems but those are my ideas and my guess is that they won't work out with you. Rather than that you have to search for actions and habits or even passions that YOU like, that you can do almost daily and that will help you become a better Gloria. Decide and commit yourself to do them. Thank you for reading this comment, I know it's long, I know I need serious help to shut my mouth but I hope I have been a help to you. Have a wonderful day and good luck young lady !

I got PTSD as a small child and I was given medications and behavior classes and it was repetitive nightmares everyday and praying for death and ask god to help me and finding people and information like this has been a miracle in my life. I found a hernia been blocking blood flow and the signals for me to breathe and stuff and I kept saying my brain was broken and it took many doctors to get a scan and not more bad diagnosis medications being pushed. I thought my doctors are out to kill me. I'm not there yet but my thoughts and moods and inner life have gotten better. Thanks for understanding and putting this out there. Reform should be a priority even the foods in the stores aren't as healthy as the once were. Some ingredients are so toxic there banned in other countries. I'm 45 and even before having any surgery to relieve the pressure I been doing some of these healthy techniques and I was awake and not as afraid anymore. I believe many people who have generational PTSD from hard lives and bad health , military, anyone could use this way of thinking then how it's been. Pay doctors outright get rid of the insurance companies. I see people out here just not themselves and it's to do with the media and the drug pushers and old ways of doing things. Thanks. Many blessings. I'm trying to find a program to be in near Fargo ND. Codependency and huge issues with some who are in oppression or slavery type situations and many feel caught between the system then messes them up and the streets and I been there but doing some research and find a therapist or doctor that helped me get out of survival mode after 40 years of trying everything. I think this has alot of truth in it and Amen God answers prayers. Thank you.

I am convinced that up to the moment I tuned in to this lecture, I had not heard a more comprehensive (within the given time limits) guide of how to have a happy life. Because a healthy body and mind (and this means healthy habits also within the branch of one's psyche = e.g. avoid ANTs) are the basis which allows to stay stable even during hard times. And to all of you, who depreciate this man for the reason he hold to a certain faith: did he mention anything about it during the core segment of the lecture? It seems to me, that there was not a mention of it until he went on to show how one can change the lives of a community. So please be more rational and do not over-react. Thank you Sir for such an inspirational and wise word!

The fact that he does have a faith in Love and good is why he does his good work and wants to help humanity. That's his motivation. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. People commenting on here have no idea what God is so they speak out of pure ignorance. Dr Amen speaks from what he KNOWS to be true. :-)

What about Medical Schools? They overload doctors-to-be with studying leaving them to time to sleep, we don't want to know what these kind eat, we only know they live of coffee and soda and when they go to internship they can go without sleep up to 36 hours. I wonder how their brain scan looks when they are done with internship and become REAL DOCTORS...

But I do intensive study of his work (Book, Change you Brain, Changes your Live), watch many of his others video online, and taking his brain health assessment - which, I could not appreciated more, that all it is all free / related cheap provide with the benefit I earned back.
The info it share, practically save me from mild depression
I am a middle aged, male despite professionally appear successful - with a wife that have the same issue and a kids with ADHD - where it is not really that open to accept kids with this symptom in my Culture.
Trust me, what this Doctor share - do work.
Take your brain message seriously - and take all your best effort to taking care of your brain and health (which I believe it work hand in hand, advice that good for your brain, most likely do good for your body as well). Hope my message can spread some kind influence to those who needed.
