      @Guinibee1 Рік тому +1

      Hey thanks for watching! I would say it's mild now, but for the first few months I wouldn't call it mild. The first month it sounded like a consistent siren in my ears since I trained my brain to listen to it so keenly.
      Keep trying to relax your mind and distract it from the noise. Your T might be worse than mine was, but you still should try. Any improvement is a win. 👍

      After dealing with tinnitus for many years it doesn't go away. You just have to learn to live with it. I find sleep deprivation the main culprit.

    • @sams81
      @sams81 Рік тому +4

      @@ljacobs357 it can go away, that's the point. There are thousands of examples all over the world who get rid of it. Why they are successful and other people not? It's just to easy to say "you have to live with it".. at the end you just make it worse for the affected people. Tinnitus is too complex to see it like that. Next to the helpless medics, this is one of the main problem today.

    • @Guinibee1
      @Guinibee1 Рік тому +12

      Hey there! Thanks for watching! I'm sorry for your T that you've had for multiple years. I mentioned in the video I too had it for multiple years, but paid it no attention cause I thought it was a normal sound. Until I learned it's T and it threw me for a loop this last year. But see, that's the key, I paid it no attention for a long time and it didn't matter, it only bothered me when I let it.
      Like I said at the end, I know it sounds ridiculous, but those three behaviors got me to a much better place. I figured since I'm going to live with it anyway, might as well try to be consistent. Have you ever heard of the finding by neurologist Donald Hebb "neurons that fire together wire together"? This means the more you tell your brain the noise is a bad thing, the worse it becomes. Also vice versa, train your brain to make it normal, and it really will. Once it's normal you stop focusing on it and you don't hear it anymore.

    My fav thing to help me overcome the fear of tinnitus and eye floaters is the windshield example. When there is a bug or smudge on your windshield or glasses its annoying at first but eventually after a small time of ignoring it, you stop noticing it, it stops being as annoying and scary.

    Ive had tinnitus for 5 years in both ears due to ear infection and noise exposure and my advice is don't let it get worse with the biggest offender being ototoxic medication which in my three experiences has made my tinnitus sharper, louder and rawer/ more piercing and, although after 2 - 3 months it subsided to a base/ manageable level, each time it failed to settle back down to what it was before taking the medication.
    Second offender is sudden sharp loud noises which I have had quite a few of but never lasting damage/ always settled back down to what it was previously after 2 - 3 weeks, sometimes its only lasted hours then settled back down (I carry foam ear plugs to go out and if I'm going somewhere I suspect could be loud I also take ear defenders).
    Second bit of advice is make sure that you don't have wax in your ears or near or on you eardrum as in my experience multiple times after getting wax out my tinnitus has become almost inaudible (wax removed via an ENT using manual extraction as apparently microsuction is too loud near the eardrum which can aggravate tinnitus). As well using distilled water ear drops put in a glass pipette bottle helps to remove ear wax.
    I have experienced severe tinnitus in both ears for extended periods but as for my tinnitus now my left ear is pretty inaudible its only when I lay on the pillow is when it becomes louder and bothersome but I can sleep through it, however my right ear is mild/ moderate and when I lay on the pillow it becomes quite severe, although I can still sleep through it depending on how tired I am (I sleep with 9000Hz white noise and a fan).
    The best way I can describe the tinnitus in my right ear when not laying down is by using audionotch's tuner on 9550Hz at 1% volume and computer volume at 24 although the tinnitus doesn't sound quite like that and its not as pronounced as the pure tone/ the tinnitus has more of a dispersed effect.

    I’ve recently got tinnitus and I’m struggling big time with it. Earlier I could only hear a low sound when I had listen to too loud music but then it always went away. Now the sound is constant and it makes me feel tired and I have started having migraine at night. I don’t really know why I’ve got tinnitus. A combination between stress at work for an extended time and too loud volume in my earphones. I probably never use earphones again now and the two Metallica concert tickets Ive got is to no use to me. My interest for music will certainly fade away.The mental strength you need to live with tinnitus… I fear the night most

      I'll tell ya, meditation is really hard. I had to meditate with sound therapy and overlay that on the meditation for a long time before I got comfortable. But it's worth the struggle. It trains your sympathetic nervous system to relax to the sound of the noise and treat it as background rather than an alarm going off.
      Trust me, for a long time I thought meditation was a waste of time, now I'm a believer.

    Sound therapy through bone conduction head phones has been my saviour especially after i discovered I couldn’t hear my T when the cicadas are loud outside. I recorded them using the White Noise app and played 24/7 for weeks. Now I usually can have that playing at night straight from my phone quietly to distract as opposed to using a speaker headband for months. In fact some nights I turn it off and some days don’t need it playing in my bone conductors. So feeling I’m habituating more and the T volume can go nearly down to nothing, or noticeable but easily ignored, or annoying enough to need ST, or really loud and feeling WTF, like last night out of the blue after such good days. Today it’s down to noticeable enough to want to play cicada’s and help calm my brain. I think this T is here for good but hopefully the good days will now continue to outlay the bad. I keep a diary of the nights and days to remind me that things can improve and also crash.
    I’d advise finding your background ambient noise, like my cicadas, and use that for ST as your brain knows the sound well and phases it out.

      @@BlueBanistersLove ugh. Mine was caused by YEARS (like 20 or so) of blasting heavy metal music through my headphones soooo loud that people 6 ft away could hear the noise.
      On top of that, I'm a drummer and my guitarist sometimes just wanted to get noisy, or the vocalist decided he wanted to sing too close to the mic and my hears truly suffered.
      One day I realized that things started sounding distorted (like with a crickety quality) and my right ear wouldn't stop ringing.
      It was nothing but PANIC for months and moths. As a musician, I thought my life was over!!!!! But then I visited my ENT and got some tests done. He said "it looks like your right ear has sliiiight acoustic trauma but you can simply stop listening to headphones at the loudest level possible and play drums with ear protection and your hearing will be fine'.
      After 2 months of not exposing my ears to loud noise and music, my tinnitus got so low that I don't even notice (or care) that's it's there anymore. And the crickety sound quality eventually went away, so that helped me too! Especially because my life is filled with pleasant distractions, like my partners, my friends, books and stuff I really enjoy doing.
      One more thing. Always check Ben Thompson's or other expert videos about the topic! Do NOT go into Reddit or internet blogs because you will get flooded with depressing stories (which are coming either from people who never looked for help or got the wrong kind of help who just told them "nothing you can do, you'll suffer forever" and unfortunately live in a sad state of despair).
      Trust me. You will get better, one way or another. I wish you nothing but happiness!

      I’ve had it for a little over a month, luckily I found this channel and got into sound therapy after a week.
      Mine went from 7 to now 1 or sometimes 0.5. In just over one month.
      I’m fairly certain mine is somatic and comes from strained neck, back and bad posture.
      So to me, sound therapy was key to getting normal sleep and releasing the fear and anxiety cycle.

      In fact Tinnitus doesn’t cause migraine and it doesn’t cause any harm or kill you but stress can. The reason you got migraines is because of stress and anxiety. Apparently you may be diagnosed with Anxiety Disorder which is why it caused tinnitus in your brain and the only med that can calm it is Amitriptyline which is used for people with anxiety and depression. Try not to think tinnitus as a bad thing. The more you freak out and focus on it the louder it becomes so don’t let anxiety take over you. Train your brain to think positively. I’ve had Tinnitus for over 30 years and all I can do is accept it as part of my body and daily life.

    Good video as always i had begun meditation then stop something happened in my like that cause anxiety of course then it was louder and i think when i was listening to some meditation it said to listen to your tinnitus if i remember correctly will have to get back into the mediation . I have a couple of silly questions i have a loud vacum cleaner that works well should i wear noise reduction or would that make things worse? Other question i tried to go out for supper with my family at the restaurant at night for supper but i was really tired i find my hearing is distorted with things i think that came as fear based . will that ever get better with sounds ? My other question is will i always need sound therapy does there come a time where i will be able to handle silence.I know i will have to be using some more tools that are available. Almost got to habituation a few months ago then went backwards . Sorry long comment and questions. Thanks for what you guys do.

      Great questions! We do not recommend wearing hearing protection around vacuum's as the duration you're exposed to it is not long enough to cause damage to your auditory system. If you are struggling to hear at restaurants, please consult your local Audiologist for a full audiological evaluation. Lastly, sound therapy is not something you'll have to use forever! Many patient's will use sound therapy for 12-24 months until they are fully habituated before they start to wean off of it. For me the loudness did get softer, but nighttime is when I hear it the most. I still leverage the seashell effect I mention in the podcast and ignore it. I also use my sound therapy on a BT speaker to help out.

      Guys you need to go on carnivore/keto/low carb diet, do cold showers, do dry and water fasting every week for 36-48-60 hours and this will help you cure tinitus.
      This is what I have done and my T has dropped to 1-2 from 7 in 9 weeks.

    Dr. Ben, how many hours of Sound therapy are recommended? I have had Tinnitus for about 18 months and it has gotten worse. I have not been consistent with the Sound therapy. I have significant hearing loss and have been using hearing aids. I can stream through my hearing aids.

    • @treblehealth
      @treblehealth  Рік тому +3

      The duration of sound therapy for tinnitus can vary depending on the individual and the severity of their tinnitus. Some people may find relief from tinnitus symptoms after just a few sessions of sound therapy, while others may need to continue the therapy for a longer period of time to achieve significant improvement.
      The length of treatment can also depend on the type of sound therapy being used. For example, if a person is using a sound machine or white noise generator to help them sleep at night, they may continue to use the device as long as it remains helpful.
      If you start to experience worsening of your tinnitus, try switching sounds. For instance, going from cricket sounds to pink noise. Hope this helps!
