I was struggling with my quest max pointer and was going to give up with it. I couldn’t set it using the instruction booklet so searched UA-cam and found this guys vid. Quality mate, sorted my issues using terms I could understand. Subscribed and liked, many thanks.
Not gonna lie, I am rather impressed. I would love to hear how the automatically turning on and off works in the field, as well as the discrimination, once you have had a chance to use it a bit.
I hope you give this one a good go. I like that option that tells you that the find is not at the tip. Letting you know it's probably in the side of your hole. Possibly. I hope it's as tough as others. I'm still a newbie and have the Garratt At Pro (just got the bundle) and the target may be in the side but I keep thinking it's more down because of the tip. Just newbie thinking I guess. But I think that may be helpful. So I'll be keeping an eye out for any of your digs using this pointer to see how you're liking it. Now Go Dig! :)
I just finished Beta testing the new NM Accupoint that has discrimination. I compared the Quest XPointer Max to it during my tests and I prefer the new Accupoint. They’re both great PP’s, but at the edge of depth, the Quest gave me multiple false Ferrous signals that the Accupoint identified a NF, both turned out to be US wheat pennies.
I've used the pulsedive, nokta pointer, xpointer pro and now I've got the MAX, the max is by far the best pointer I've used to date and worth the money. let me know if you want to sell the magic holster lol. I got mine second hand on ebay lol
First impressions and I’m impressed. Soz mate but looks like quick draw and find at 10 paces in the setting sun , all I can say is R.I.P rest int pasture 😄🫵🏻😂

Whatsthe difference between the regular xpointer and the "Max" xpointer? Auto turn off & Boost? Also, colder weather lock up is concerning, may wait to see if they fix this before irdering 😮

there's been multiple confirmations this pp does NOT work in colder climates ..so if your in a colder clinate you might wanna do some more "digging" in regards first

My pinpointer just constantly only says lift coil that's it it like makes it impossible to use I can't get it to stop , it worked for two weeks that's it even if I touch a penny to the tip that's all it reads
Liam, if you have access to tech support at Quest, would you PLEASE ask them what causes this pinpointer to freeze up, and display the message on the screen " raise coil"? Once there, it cannot be removed or reset, at least that I've discovered. I've actually bought 5 of these (because when they do work they're superior...) and three of mine are frozen up, displaying the "raise coil" message. It appears as soon as the pinpointer is turned on and disables any further detection. Thanks, Terry
i noticed when you used the gold coin, the pin pointer showed red on both settings, thats not good, if you hit a gold coin in the ground, it will show as iron, so you will miss the coin
Yes with all ferrous non ferrous pin pointers at the edge of detection can give iron tone, they also do the same with iron , similar to a metal detector , which a pin pointer is just a hand held single modulated tone metal detector
I got one of these and it worked twice and when the cold weather came it stopped working and hasn't worked since, I liked it for the few minutes it worked though 😂
PLEASE NOTE THE GOLD DOES SEEM AS THOUGH IT CAME UP AS FERROUS. THE PIPES AND CABLES UNDER THE FLOOR WAS GIVING A FALSE. I HAVE TESTED AFTER AWAY FROM THIS SPOT AND GOLD CAME UP "GREEN" NON-FERROUS 👨🦯👌
I was going to mention that Liam, I have one of these and find it saves time when digging although I've been told not to fully rely on the ferrous and non ferrous features as there maybe a good target behind a bad one, great video, hope you enjoy trying it out in the field. Cheers mate 👍
Do me a favour. Stick the pointer in the fridge for a bit, and see if it still works. I bought one when they first came out, and I really like it. But it only works when it's a hot day!
Liam this is from a video posted about this pinpointed in 2021 "PROBLEM 2: The 'raise coil' error. I had it first time on the beach and I couldn't get rid of it. LAter I also heard from someone that this Xpointer MAX has a problem with cold. I put it in the car and one morning I went to see and yes, 'raise coil' error ALL THE TIME. No working pinpointer = you are going back to where you came from. SO I made a short video of it and I sent a mail and videolink to the store and they took it back and paid me back. That's why there exists warranty. No one should keep a faulty product, especially when it's this expensive. So I advice you all to do this and help Quest to make a better product" @@HistoryRevisiteduk
Worst pinpointer ever!!! Expensive and useless. I have had both version incl. the one with Magic holster. That is smart, but it can't detect a goldring in dogshit. If don't believe me...well try it. I made a little primitive video about this bad product.

I have the old x pointer and its great, but i love the way it turns off and on by the holder.

I was a massive quest fan. Still have the Q60 and Q40. I believe the Q35 is basically the Q60

Why do you care? Are you going to leave targets behind because your pointer says non ferrous? That would be silly! You always clean out your hole.

I had the older model and hated how hard the buttons are to press hence why I got rid hard with gloves on! This looks good tho love the magic holder
Hopefully these will ease with use . You do have to give them a firm push , I bet it’s a struggle with gloves on

That was the old model. It was recalled. I had one, and it was bad. The problem has been fixed.
