I recently bought my elderly mother a 64 GB Cellular iPad 1 so she could use its Photo Frame feature. She's in a nursing home & needs a simple-to-operate digital picture frame. I have loaded approximately 1500 scanned photos onto it.

It still has a few games my kids play for nostalgia, but it’s not used much anymore. I think it’s on iOS 6. I love my iPads. I update them far more frequently than my iPhone or Macs.
I remember when the first ipad came out how many people were saying to wait for the next one since there's no camera. I found that hilarious since a camera on an ipad remains entirely pointless. Except for facetime.
I still have my iPad 1. I used it until the first iPad Mini came out and I’m on my 3rd Mini now. I got the iPad 1 out recently, recharged it, and it still works fine. I don’t know what to do with it - it seems like such an iconic device - I hate to get rid of it.

One interesting thing about the first-gen iPad, is for the GSM version only. According to websites, the first GSM version iPad actually has the same modem and antenna of an iPhone. With jailbreak and some simple steps to unlock the Phone function, you could literally use it as a truly "zoomed" iPhone. Do you have the interest to test for us?
First iPad pro 12,9” is still excellent. I have been using it since 2014 and it is still fast, strong and battery keeps up well. My model is 128gb WiFi + Cellular and with original smart keyboard. Only bad thing is that it is little heavy. And keyboard buttons has not lights
About the "full GHz" in the iPad, it is not because of its thermal headroom, in fact, Samsung used the same processor (named Hummingbird) in the first Galaxy S and also on it's badaOS smartphone Samsung Wave, both at 1GHz in 2010. The A4/Hummingbird was manufactured by Samsung in partnership with Intrinsity, and the latter was bought by Apple after the A4, forcing Samsung to create the Exynos line of processors for its upcoming Galaxy Note and Galaxy SII.
The Ipad 1 is less than 12 years old yet is totally obsolete! Yet you can keep a bicycle costing the same price going on the road for up to 20 years! If you maintain it well and replace worn out parts.
my grandparents STILL use this iPad. They actually cut a hole in the bottom plastic, and kept it on the rest of it while it was in its case cause it’s a “good screen protector”
I remember as a kid my father had the 1st ever iPad and we used to look at it with all the wonder and magic in the world. Now in 2021 you would struggle to find someone to give it away to for free with how outdated it is. It's amazing how far we've come technologically in just one decade. I now have an M1-powered iPad Pro 12.9' and the difference in power from just those 10 years is absolutely insane.
I still have my 1st gen iPad 32GB WIFI. I remember when I bought that, people kept calling it a oversized iPod Touch and a waste of money. Boy were they wrong.
I actually watched this video on my iPad Pro 11 and I used the iPad 1st gen back then for about 5 years. I really liked the design and I appreciate it even today, the todays iPad seems to me as the real successor to the 1st gen in terms of design. The problem with 1st gen iPad was mainly its 256mb ram. Even in that time I was able to emulate windows 98 and some dos games and even was able to have Mac grade control above the filesystem since jailbreak and iFile made it quite capable device overall. Mine died because of the display cable. I did not treat it that well, it fell from time to time but I always smile when I remember it :) The battery life even after several years of usage was very usable at least, the screen was bright enough, the speakers were also quite capable. It had GPS, 3G connectivity and several other things that iPod doesnt have. You could even call from it if you installed some tweaks from cydia. Thanks for your great video :)

I closed out a CD meant for college to buy one of these my senior year. The material, iPhoneOS, containing so much data in a flat object was amazing to me. Life changing.
I still use my 1st generation iPad as a remote for Logic X. Works great.
I got mine on launch day. Was really impressed with it back then! The screen at the time looked lovely.
Watching this vid in an ipad pro seriously brings me weird feelings lol. Good video anyways, brought me back to my days using the ipad 1
I still this iPad for UA-cam interviews that help me go to and stay asleep at night. brightness all the way down and the battery life is incredible on these still. Surfs the web fine if I had to use it for that
I have just discovered I still have mine. I used my iPad as a instant preview display for Photography and social event clients. It was paired with an eye-fi SD card and initially I had to jailbreak it to work. It totally blew peoples minds in 2010 that I could transmit images wirelessly from Camera to iPad within seconds. I really enjoyed seeing peoples reactions. On photo shoots having a wireless tether was great as I could get feedback without lugging a laptop. I’ll probably repurpose mine as a movie player or as a digital photo frame.
I Remember Getting my first Ipad (1st gen) Ahhhhh those good old memory. If you do a side by side comarison of the ipad 1st gen and pro 12.9 2020, it's kinda awesome to see how big was changed since 1st gen iphone and ipad
I'm a simple man. I want to see vintage Apple tech, I go to Luke Miani.
Some day you will have to tell us what you Apple inventory is I think it would be interesting myself
I've still got one of these, Its now just an electric photo frame, since nothing else runs on it anymore.
I’m happy to say I still have my first gen iPad in absolutely excellent condition!
What's your hobby?
Me : watching people unboxing things that I know I will never have:
We still have both of our first gen iPads and iTouch. They both still work (slow, but work and still hold a charge!) I still use the Touch for my music library.
Especially with Apple’s design language back then, I always loved the way this thing looks
I bought mine on Day One and I'm still using it, and loving it; even the torn pages in the Calendar. So there. Skeuomorphism lives!
I still have and use it today, it still has the original battery and works perfectly, took it all around the world used it as a my travel guide, was far better than my iPhone in those days with all those great apps, people used to look at me with envy and wished they had one while sitting out in the Hotel patio showing off the original Ipad, grandchildren use as well now with Minecraft and other classic games there was nothing like it in those days as it was the start of the new revolution in handheld gadgets so powerful
I had one of these, 32gb 1st gen with the Apple folio case. Sold on eBay now wish I’d kept it just for the historical value.
I recently bought my elderly mother a 64 GB Cellular iPad 1 so she could use its Photo Frame feature. She's in a nursing home & needs a simple-to-operate digital picture frame. I have loaded approximately 1500 scanned photos onto it.
Still have the original iPad (and it’s box). Bought it off a friend who bought it day 1, and bought the cellular version when it came out in the fall. It was my daily until iPad 3. It still has a few games my kids play for nostalgia, but it’s not used much anymore. I think it’s on iOS 6.
I love my iPads. I update them far more frequently than my iPhone or Macs.
iPad 1 didn’t get ios 6. Unless you mean something else
When's the full knife review coming???
My iPad mini first gen still runs . Only use it for Apple music , granted it’s a little slow but it saves my battery on my newer iPad and iPhone
Remember having the 1. gen Ipad 3G(Already a mess getting a extra sim). I remember the general experience being, that nothing really supported it, Apps being downsized etc. Way ahead of it's time. Sold it within 18 months, and didn't get a new one until the Ipad Mini came.
I still use the iPad 1 I got for 18€ 2 years ago for watching movies and playing old school games lol, it has incredible battery life!
I luckily have mine, still works perfectly 💪🏼💪🏼
I first saw and used the first iPad while in law school in 2010. Immediatey realied how great they would be.
I need to buy one just since my 3 year old iPad is on it's way out (battery problems). Plus, who doesn't like a little retro in their life?
Why would you buy a first gen to use? They’re just collectors items now.

my grandparents STILL use this iPad. They actually cut a hole in the bottom plastic, and kept it on the rest of it while it was in its case cause it’s a “good screen protector”
the hole in the bottom plastic is for charging
My first Apple product. Since then now I have bought 25th Apple product. Oh wow😭
