    UPDATE: I can't believe I didn't know this after 2 years, but the sensors ARE removable in the grips. So you do not need to replace your entire grip if one happens to die. This is 1) Fantastic news. and 2) I apologize for not understanding this correctly!

    • @petegalindez9961
      @petegalindez9961 2 роки тому

      Very cool! I just checked myself…yes, they come out. AND, there is an air hole behind the sensor, so I’m thinking they can be blown on/off too! Game changer! My one gripe with the screw ins is that they do mess with my grip…I keep thinking I’m choking up on the club and when I don’t they tend to bend or come lose after a few shots on the range. Doesn’t really affect me during a round though since you are more focused on each shot…lesson learned for the range I guess!

      If the sensors are removable, is there any significant difference between the two systems?

      How long do the sensors last. I mean I don't want to pay $120-$150 every two years because the batteries die.

    well into adulthood, and life, I found and fell in love with the game of golf. Shortly after, on my search for tools that will actually help me, I found your page. Thank you for your honest, well thought out, well articulated personal experiences with all these products. As a father of 3, and small business owner, I need to know something is going to be what I need it to be before I justify spending hard earned money. Many thanks, and I love all of your content man.

    I have over 120 rounds on my Arccos and I love it. Agree with everything in this review. It's great. The one weird thing that happens with it. If you have a child... (mine is 11) he can hear the sensors turning on and off. I guess his ears are still untarnished by years of Phish concerts.... but anyway, he said it is a super high-pitched squeal and clicking sound and it really makes him crazy. If you have good ears, It would be interesting to see if anyone else has "heard" of this issue. Luckily I can't hear it so i give a BIG thumbs up to Arccos.

      That's wild! I've never heard or heard about that! But I've also had my left eardrum rebuilt twice, so my hearing is definitely not the one you'd take reference from ha.

    I have run this product for 2 years. Myself and 6 buddies have this product. Some rounds are better than others. Even using the caddie link. Tap in putts are a challenge to day. This year is the first year everyone is dumping the product subscription. We pay $100 and have spent countless dollars on replacement sensors prior to the stated battery life. Either the customer service should get better or the product needs to get better. Maybe in a few years we will revisit this product. Now looking like the Garmin Z82 or 18 birdies with a Bushnell.

    I have noticed 2 issues with Arcoss that I have to adjust to. The sensors turn on when they are pulled out of the bag and sense light. Then they detect a hit based on sound. So walking is more accurate just because I am not taking 2 or 3 clubs out to walk up to a par 3 tee or to hit a greenside shot. If I am in a cart and have to grab multiple clubs for a shot, I take a towel and cover the club sensors I am not using in those situations with the towel and I make sure not to drop them so they clank and make a noise. Eliminates almost all false readings. The other thing is putting. I use a putter with a soft insert and it is hard for the microphone to pick up shorter putts with very low audio. To combat this I just adjust the shots every couple holes. This little bit of hassle is well worth the data and insight

    Also works flawlessly with my Samsung Galaxy 4 smartwatch paired with my Google Pixel 5 in the Android ecosystem. A quick glance at my watch gives me front, middle and back distances to the green. It shows what hole you're on and recommends a club based on your history. You can also add putting strokes (all from the watch). You almost never have to take your phone out of your pocket. Club recommendations are usually spot on. Any time I have gone against my Smart Caddie, I was usually proven wrong.

    I certainly did NOT have the same experience as many of the other reviewers. The sensors only picked up about 75% of the shots. I spent additional money for the LINK device. That didn’t seem to help much at all. I found the app difficult to use. I was spending more time trying to add shots or fix the score. It was definitely a distraction from the game. I just it all back. Glad others are having more success.. good luck

    Main question I have is how does it know carry distances? So let's say my driver total distance is 280, and there's bunkers at 260. Would it know if I can carry them or not? Def going to try them out but that's the one thing I am uncertain about...

    • @breakingeighty
      @breakingeighty  Рік тому

      That's a great question, and honestly I dont think it has that specific data. So that's one where you'll just need to use your best judgement. Only way I know of to get carry distances is to spend some time on the range with a launch monitor.

    Excellent review. I own the Gen2 screw ins, and the Gen3 grips…You did a very thorough job of describing them. I’m someone who changes grips, shafts, and own a couple of sets of clubs, so the screw ins work better for me. The grips can’t be blown on and off with a compressor because the sensor is at the top and there is no air hole…bummer…Also, the Gen3 versions (screw ins and grips) require a yearly subscription, which is a bummer ($155?)…The Gen 1 or 2 are good for the life of the battery in the sensor. I’ve had mine for about 3 years now and they are still working great. On the accuracy…I have had very few issue with shots being missed or tracked…HOWEVER, it is VERY easy to edit your game afterwards and put in penalties, add or delete a shot, etc…Before I got my Apple Watch, I would just pull my push cart close to me while swinging and it picked up the shot easily…But, the watch is AWESOME! Not only to track shots, but you can easily set where the flag is on the green when you walk to the green. Great function. And then the software is second to none…

    Like you I have a pretty good history with Arccos - 245 recorded games and have tried every means of recording; phone, connect link (both original and new one) and now using the app on my Apple watch. I check and edit my phone during and after each round, which, when the strike is missed, requires you to mark the spot and the club hit from that spot, so for me it's a long way from start and forget. One positive that you might have missed is that you can share all the data with your coach/instructor. I think you're estimate of 98% of the shots recorded is way to high, I typically have to add 8-10 strikes post game. Prior to Arccos I used Game Golf, which required tapping your club to the sensor prior to each stroke, a pain but you didn't miss any. I concur with everything you said about the data and analysis provided on-line. I was fortunate to have purchased the system in the beginning where you got a life-long subscription to Arccos without the annual payment. One suggestion to avoid the sensor from falling out of the club is use heat shrink tubing, never had a problem after I did that.

    Question: How does the club distance average handle chip out’s, or chip pitch shots. For example, If I hit an errant tee shot, and have to chip out sideways with a 7-iron, I’m only trying to advance the ball 20-50 yds, or, if I decide to hit a 9-Iron chip and run into the green? Wouldn’t that drag my full shot distance average way down?

    Thank you for that comprehensive breakdown, subscribed. I was confused how this product worked and you did a great job.
    I do have a question though, as I'm not one (unfortunately) to stripe it middle of the fairway every time and 100% greens in regulation. How does it factor in things like penalty strokes or if you are under heavy trees and are having to punch out to the fairway? How about deciding to use a 7 iron for a bump and run? Wouldn't these sorts of things skew the club averages? I'm very interested in this system for that information so I have real world number for each club. Any responses are appreciated. I will say it also sucks to be forced to pay an annual membership as someone that lives in a cold weather climate and the season is only about 6 months at best.

    • @breakingeighty
      @breakingeighty  5 місяців тому

      You add the penalty strokes manually. And they've done a great job of creating a system called "Smart Distance". This throws out outliers with each club. To give you a true assessment of how far each club goes. So those 5 iron punch shots out of the trees? Those won't get factored in.

    I got Arccos last year. I use my I-phone rather than than the belt thing even though one came with the package. What I have found after playing about 100 rounds with it is It's a great product but there can be issues.
    Here are my pros and cons. I love being able to look at it and see what my average club distances. After about 20 rounds, I really didn't use it a lot. What I did though was look at my distances to make sure they were still the same. What I did find was that I was about 6-8 yds shorter than I had always said my clubs went. Also I could delete my bad shots at the end of the round. An example would be if I hit a shot say over water but ended up in the water. So i drop the ball up at the hazard, Arccos would record the shot at where I hit my next shot which is right in one way but the distance of my previous shot could be off by 50-75yds. At The end of the round I would delete that shot because it was an abnormal shot. Another would be if the ind was extremely strong, i might hit a 6 iron from 100yds. I would also delete that shot because it was an abnormal shot. So if I thought my 7 iron went on average 145, Arccos told me it was about 138-141 so that changed what clubs I hit. I didn't use the caddie much. Once I could see what my average club distance was, I could judge the wind and conditions myself.
    The big cons that I found was that it missed a lot of putts and it missed a small number of shots per round. There was a 5 minute or so maintenance at the end of The round to delete all abnormal shots and to correct putts.
    I wasn't going to renew my membership but I got new clubs so I'll have to figure out if the new technology of clubs is going to add yards to my shots that I took from my 13 year old clubs. I do think they are definitely worth getting but to me, $150 a year membership is too rich for my blood.
    Across is a good product though

    Question, how does Arccos work when you take 2-3 extra clubs with you when hitting your 2nd shot? Sometimes when it’s “cart path only” rules, a player may take two or three clubs out of the bag, and walk to the ball, and select the best club for the shot. Do the sensors know which club actually hit the next shot?

    • @breakingeighty
      @breakingeighty  Рік тому

      Yeah it uses a combination of accelerometer and sound to be able detect which club your using. Every once in awhile it might detect a duplicate shot if you've pulled multiple clubs, but it happens rarely and is very easy to delete.

    Tried to make them work for 5 years. Could not get the sensors to stay attached to the clubs. Lost at least one every 6 months. They especially hated my 5-iron. I developed sensor anxiety after having so many fall out of my grips. If I got going during a round, I could almost guarantee that a sensor would be left behind. Luckily, the manufacturer was very understanding and kept shipping me replacements. In addition to the sensors running away so often, mine missed about 15% of my shots. It wouldn’t always be the same club/sensor. One round the 7-iron’s just wouldn’t work; next round, it worked fine. I would check my phone after a couple of holes and find that multiple shots had been missed. Golf is a mental game that requires concentration, and this product makes it harder. I didn’t mind the money; the hassle was totally not worth it.

  • @petegalindez9961
    @petegalindez9961 2 роки тому +1

    Great product…I own both…Still not sure which I prefer….I am someone who like to change clubs/grips a lot, so that’s a pain…but, the screw in ones do feel odd at the end of the club, especially if you are a end of the club gripper…they are 8g each, which can equate to a whole swing weight at the butt end of the club…The only issues I’ve had is if I wind up hitting a second shot for S&Gs, or putting in penalty shots…a little bit of a PITA. Overall though, I have had very few instances of the sensor not picking up a shot, and it’s easy in the software to add a shot after your round. I may add the sensor so I can use my phone with another app while playing….Bummer that the newest version requires an annual subscription (3rd gen?). I have the second gen, so I’ll just keep using them until the battery dies…

    I'd love to see Arccos factor in your age and tees played from for most of it's stats, especially driving distance. I'm assuming a 5 handicap that is 25 can hit it a lot farther than a 5 Handicap that is 65. Plus, I'm assuming a 5 handicap that is 25 is playing longer yardage tees than someone that is 65. I'm thinking ideally, you would want to compare yourself with others playing similar overall yardages and in a similar age group

    I have the screw in type sensors. It seems to ALWAYS miss a lot of swing inputs. Also the correction process isnt all that great. They really need to work on getting it WAY better, i do like the fact that it does show how far im hitting my clubs and distances to the green.

    I used this for over a year. As a high handicap it's not worth it. You need to have consistency in order for the caddie feature to make sense. I will sometimes use a P or 9 around the green versus a wedge and it messed up my averages. Not to mention if it's cart path only the system glitches if you're carry multiple clubs. Great product for the low HC players but not for everyone

    Well, with my Golfshot app paired with the Apple Watch I get the same amount of information, while the shot detection is actually much better. The GPS is more precise and Golf Shot features better Satellite Images as it uses Google maps. I can also record all my rounds - just as Arccos. For a Price of 39 Dollars a year! Save the money and use another app. Arccos is aging fast, that is why everyone is getting free sensors with ping, Taylor made at the moment.

    How long does the distance per club take to update if you were to buy new clubs that allowed you more distance. Moving from a very beginner golfer to decent? I’m at this stage now. As you’ve just swapped over to new clubs and it’s the first round. Obviously the yardages will be out on this round. But for the next.l round how long does it take to adjust the averages?

    • @petegalindez9961
      @petegalindez9961 2 роки тому

      when you add your new club, you can put in your club’s data (name, club, etc…), and the average counter will start over…So if you go from a Titleist club to a Callaway, when you move your sensor to the Callaway, you would re-pair the sensor to the new club and re-name the club…then it should start you over with your longest shot, average distance, etc….

    Great video! I just finished my 24th round with my Smart Sensors. I love that I don't have to remember to fill in my scorecard; the stats that they give are awesome. I knew, from just playing, before getting my sensors, that my 6i,7i, & 8i were "off", but after these rounds I now have data that I can bring to my local club maker and have the lofts/lies adjusted to what they should be. The Apple Watch is the way to go, it is amazing. The only quirk I find annoying, is that when I have to chip onto the green, if my clubs "clank" together, the watch will detect a shot, not a deal breaker, but definitely annoying. All in all, I'd recommend the Arccos system to anyone wanting to get more information about their game than just looking back at old scorecards!

I pair one and everything is great. I pair the rest in one shot, now my account is gone until I pay $179 more for a 1yr subscription. I'm already about $400 into this thing with the initial bundle +replacements. Blows 🤬🤬🤬

    Oh and two other things: 1. I wish you could change the shot to a chip when you using a wedge for chipping. You have to record the shot as a putt and then change to a chip. Or am I missing something? 2. The Arccos desktop dashboard is pretty awesome with it's data. But what the heck is a Driving Handicap and Approach Handicap?! The little "i" icons don't tell you much. For driving it was giving me a 30 handicap on most courses and compared it with a 17.5 or something like that. And a Google search turned up nothing on those. I'm confused on those and would like to know what the heck those mean.

    • @gdunks
      @gdunks 2 роки тому

      Agreed, it’s definitely upsetting. I have the same issue and have contacted them about it a few times, to no avail. That said, from their perspective, it just doesn’t make sense for them to offer a monthly option given how seasonal golf is. Their revenue stream would be cut in half as soon as courses close each year from people cancelling. They could raise their monthly rates to compensate for this, but at $25-$30/month, they’d be running a serious risk of completely pricing many people out of the market.

  • @ronburgundy8174
    @ronburgundy8174 2 роки тому

    I purchased a Cobra driver and they sent me the extra sensors for free after I contacted them so that was a bonus. I have to say that the sensors do a very good job as you mentioned tracking the shots. Not perfect of course but very good overall. It can be a confidence beaker as well since everyone thinks they hit the ball farther than they actually do and the Arccos gives us a reality check with its readings. :) Having the phone in the pocket is not that big of a deal as you kind of forget about it. But it is annoying when you consistently have to take it out of your pocket for GPS readings, update shots, etc. during a round. And the battery drain isn't great either. I just purchased the Link and hope that it works as a great substitute.
