Me too, until two of their V3's broke. Had to choose between the X5 and went for a Garmin s42.
Missing a lot of the stats but at least I'm not worried about it breaking after 5 rounds.

I tried the Link and it's auto-tracking capability was very unreliable, missed a tonne of shots, even though I wore on my belt on left side. I didn't want to use my phone to track shots, so I definitely wasn't going to be paying a subscription for shoddy hardware. I gave away the Link and sensors on Facebook marketplace as there really is no resale value for a subscription-dependant service. Switched to a Shotscope X5 watch and could not be happier. No need to scan the tags, just assign them in your app. The whole experience is more seamless and enjoyable and my X5 auto-track does not miss shots!! NO SUBSCRIPTION is the hands down winner for Shotscope.

Arccos is superb for tracking your data and really easy to use once you're all synced up! Thankfully when I bought the sensors 10 years ago or so when they were just getting their name out there with Cobra, they had a lifetime membership included! 😀

Hi Mark, I see that you make some corrections as you go, but how do you remember everything else? I can barely remember how many shots after each hole. Do you write notes or dictate notes to the phone? How about distances, do you estimate them for each unrecorded shot as you go? Thank you in advance.

Thanks for the full review. I migrated to Arccos from Game golf in 2020 (Covid Lockdown year, unfortunately) after purchasing my first set of custom fitted Cobra irons which came with Arccos. My experience has been mixed. I don't use or have any Apple products. It would be totally different, I think if I had a watch to sync with it. I find it misses a lot of shots - about 40 to 50% sometimes. I have to keep my phone in my pocket to keep it recording. Which I don't like. I had to pay extra for the link and it didn't work. I do like having the stats - there are loads of them, but I do have to do a lot of editing sometimes. It's also expensive. I have to pay and annual fee and I'm not always sure it's worth it. If I have a bad round I tend to delete it which slightly alters the data. You can exclude rounds from the stats if you like. I would rate it 9 out of 10 on data. 5 out of 10 on user-friendliness and 3 out of 10 on value for money.

I'm a shotscope user and have found the insight from the data amazing. The app for Arcos looks far superior however, and being able to connect to a smartwatch of your choice would be a draw for a lot of people. That doesn't matter to me as I have a dumb watch for everyday use

  • @timmyinMB

Good video Mark. Like you I have used both Arccos and Shot Scope. I decided to stick with Shot Scope because the ease of use and the AFTER round editing. I found Arccos to be extremely clunky on the initial link up with phone and it had a higher miss rate than Shot scope. Like way more misses or too many phantom shots because of practice swings. I had the link, app, phone and watch just like you. I also didn’t like the monthly/yearly subscription price.
I currently use the H4 Shot scope and just tap location for each shot and collect pin location with a click of the button. I can make as many practice swings as I want and it only records one shot. Very minimal misses which leads to way less editing and more time spent reviewing my data.
Finally Shot scope permits more than 14 clubs. If I want to put different wedges, hybrids or other long iron options in as I change courses Shot scope is very seamless.

Not only that, but Shot Scope is half the price and the app and online support is free. I've used Arccos with the freebies I got on a Ping Driver and 3 Wood, didn't see it as being any better than Shot Scope. Silly Money for Arccos and Shot Scope does all the same stuff for half the price.

I tried Arccos but found it had a really hard time accurately picking up shots. I didn't have the Link device, but they say it isn't necessary if you have your phone in your pocket. Ultimately, I stopped using it because I had to adjust the data plus or minus 1-2 shots on every hole. I've heard people rave about the data it provides, and I agree when it was accurate, but spending 30-45 seconds editing the data every hole was maddening for me. I feel like they shouldn't sell this system without the Link if it's necessary to make the system work properly.
One minor issue as well, I didn't like the sensors on the end of the clubs. I found myself gripping on the sensor often enough that I had to start looking down where I was gripping. I feel like the grips with the built-in sensors are the better option. Just wish they weren't so expensive.
One a positive note, I did love the data it provides. I didn't play enough rounds with it to get any real strokes gained data, unfortunately. I loved the weather data in the app. Here in North Texas the wind is crazy, and often swirls around. Getting validation on the wind direction was a literal game-changer.

One thing I love doing after my round of golf is to see how I did and where I can improve. I remember when devices like Arccos first came out around the same time as Game Golf which I know Mark used to use. Sadly Game Golf got into difficulties and are now back in the game with a subscription based system but nowhere as good as Shot Scope or Arccos is today. Now I prefer my Shot Scope as its a great system and to be honest they all offer practically the same things. All very good for the game and golfers regardless of abilities. Technology like Arccos and Shot Scope will keep getting better when new powerful tech and satellites are up and running and up in orbit :)

If you need to edit your round and the pin and/or first putt is in the wrong position, then how do you edit it? Answer you need to step off every putt and record it (on your score card). Then you have what is needed for the edit. And, if you don’t do that, then your stokes gained putting vs approach/chipping will be way off. Imagine the GPS was off, your approach was 6 ft, but the gps (pin + 1st putt) said 15 ft in Arccos.
You also need to edit fairways hit if you are within a yard of the edge. You also need to edit the next shot as rough vs fairway. If the gps is wrong when in a bunker that shot might be marked as fairway; another shot to edit.
And then thee are the missed shots. Shoot an 82, Arccos says 68; shoot a 77, Arccos says 66. Oh, and I putt everything out and that doesn’t explain the fairway wood and pitching wedge approach missed.
That said, I still think it is worth it; but don’t underestimate the effort required. And DO NOT slow down play.

The link is no better as you still need the app running on your phone in the bag. Add the £100 a year subscription and it’s a no from me. Shotscope is much better either with the X5 or if you don’t want to wear a watch they have just tags to work with a phone or an X5 attached to a range finder. Add no subscription and it’s a no brainier. As for “I don’t want to change watches”, do you change your shoes before you start a round? For instance, I'll have a 10 foot putt and arccos will show me putting from off the green from 40 feet. So I walk off each putt and write down the distance on my card so I can adjust after the round.

Shot Scope gives you everything for a one time fee, no monthly subscriptions. It's GPS watch may not be the sharpest looking on the market but it's fine. And they're customer support was great to me when my watches battery overheated. They shipped me a new watch right away.
As for accuracy, I only used Arcos with my woods and hybrids for the trial period I got when I bought them. Both do ok but need our help sometimes. By that I mean every round. Lol
Both will occasionally miss a shot and add distance to the one before it. And to get what you've done added into your stats you have to sign off on your round. If you want accurate numbers you need to check every hole for errors with either system.

Camera is always blurry on a Iphone 15 promax, can't ever scan sensors no matter how much i move or use a tri pod to hold camera in place and keep club still with both hands and phone lighting. then if it does scan is says flip upside down 15 seconds to reset sensor, tried that 3 different times, still no reset. arccos clearly pays for their 4.4 rating, because its still an awful system.

I thank arccos is great. I feel it along with my practice has gotten me from a 17.4 to a 12.3hcp. I can see where I need to improve and I have accurate distance that I hit from real life play. The subscription is no big deal to me.
    I have the:
    -Gen 3 smoke sensor
    -Link
    -Apple Watch 9
I open the app on the phone, track shots with link, and use my Apple Watch that mirrors the phone (turn gps of on the watch app so it doesn’t kill your battery). One round of golf will take 20-25% battery on the series 9. I think this is the perfect set up
Good for Mark sponsored or not he has put his time into UA-cam and it comes down to you deciding if you buy this system or not. I will continue to use this for years.
Only bummer I bought the link then a month later the link pro came out.

I use this system now and have been using it for 4 years. The thing I hate is that the annual subscription keeps going up. Started out at $90 and now it cost $150 a year. Heaven knows how much more they will increase it year over year.

I've been using Arccos for a couple of years and love it The desktop dashboard has even more data, and you can really get deep into the weeds if you want to. The one thing that confuses me is the rolling handicap. When you're on the Player section of the desktop dashboard you can select Approach, Short game, etc. In those areas there's a "Rolling Hcp" that shows ypur "Overall hcp" but this number is different from my actual handicap that Arccos tracks. If anyone knows why and can explain this to me, that would be great.

I don't know if Arccos has made improvements over the past year or so, but I always had to go back after the round and edit missed shots and shots that appeared on the wrong (adjacent) hole. I tried the link device but not much better. So I gave up on it.

I tried the shot scope and the hand held lasers. I have the arccos sensors ,then you do not want your phone on you you need the link. I noticed he had a apple watch, does it work for the galaxy watch?? Just to expensive when you have just as good options out there. You still have to go into the app and fix things it missed just like shot scope. I ended with the sky caddie lx5 because I found it at a steal. All I need is to tell me about what yard I need to hit. I should have stayed with the golf pad for free. The stats are fine but as the round goes on you know where you f..up. I watch these you tube vids and every other month this one is better then the next. I guess it goes buy when they get it for free where we have to pay. I just want to play the game without the distractions. I know what I need to work on when I am playing the game. Just my opinion.

Mark, good review. While it’s not perfect. Nothing is. This product is pretty good. I’ve been using it for two years now. Of course good practice and repetition lowers your score. But I can honestly say ARCCOS has helped me. Who can say they know exactly what their tendencies might be with certain clubs. This data spells it out for you. I can go on and on with examples. This product is worth the investment.

  • @MyDeimudder

Used the system for a couple of years. But I question e.g. the putting stats accuracy. If the gps data is not accurate enough and I have to guess shot/pin locations after the fact what good is a statistic of 1m putts? I cannot guess the pin location accurately enough for that statistic. Neither can the GPS most days. Furthermore the app did not improve over time. I just checked it: I still have to switch to men’s tees before starting a round. The women’s tees will never be the ones I play from. So why not let me change the default? And when I forgot to change to the men’s tees and start the round I have to abort the round and the tracked shots are lost. There are a number of those issues that haven’t been fixed for years now. I want the system to work and would accept a few inconveniences. But for the total cost, there are too many. The Shotscope x5 unfortunately did disappoint, too. Seems like no good options out there at the moment.

No terrain data, no green terrain data. So the “AI” will recommend a club based on distance alone, regardless of how much higher or lower tee is to green, etc. No group scorecard functionality. Free apps provide course overview, distance and group scorecard function. Subs are a rip off. Finally, biggest thing is its a distraction on the course. Look at the sun, the views, the trees, the wildlife, talk to your playing buddies! Dont bury yourself in an app! They say you don’t have to edit during the round, but you will want to if you want reliable data. Therefore you’re constantly torn between enjoying the round or generating robust data.

Hi Mark, a question , I am trying to deal with some ill health and trying to get back into golf...I live bordering a course, can i use this system without playing a round....I like to just pick a few holes and play 3 or 4 holes and jump holes and then perhaps hit 5 or 6 shots from the same point , will that confuse the system or work?.....so yes, I am not able or want to do full or 9 holes games, hope that makes sense...as if it works with these parameters i seems great ...

Not sure what you mean. My point is having NO sensors sticking out of the top is seamless.
Putting sensors in is not hard (unless you use counter balance) but NOT Having things in the top is cleaner, more seamless then having things stuck in the top.
