"Tell your FACE... to leave my fists alone." I swear, if I hadn't known about what Sandman would look like and his quotes before I got to him, I would've pissed my pants the first time he said that. This guy is infinitely more intimidating than his NES and SNES incarnation.
Sergio Manzaneda Well, every single one of his attacks can be stopped by punching him before he hits you. Also gets you a Star Punch if you do that. It's a lot easier than it sounds, but still pretty difficult.
I've always wondered if Mr sandman was a bully in school and he put kids to sleep. Or he was a quiet kid and was tired of getting bullied so he took them to see dreams.
Gotta love Mac's confidence at 0:41. BTW is it just me or does Disco kid seem happy when Sandman punches him in his intro at 0:20. Must be having a good dream.
Can I just say i'm sick and TIRED of all the people ranting about Mike Tyson? Mike Tyson's Punch Out was a SPIN-OFF game of the arcade version...and guess who was champion in the arcade version? MR. SANDMAN. It just pains me everyone getting screwed over by nostalgia, saying "Mike Tyson should've been champion". Rant over.
Sawneek Bagelboner Well...it's licsensed under the name "Punch-Out", and holds almost every character in the original Punch-Out arcade game, and has the same premise. Just saying, people tend to completely ignore the arcade thing and babble on about Mike Tyson. Either way, Nintendo lost the rights.
It is revealed like a bunch of years later that Mr. Sandman had no rule infractions, which separates him from all other boxers who broken at least one in a real life perspective.
I actually believe that Sandman is a reference to Muhammad Ali not Mike Tyson my main detail is one the hairstyle and two when doc says Dance like a fly sting like a mosquito this is a reference to Muhammad Ali’s “fly like a butterfly sting like a bee”
His downward jabs were so damn hard to predict, mainly because he stalls them sometimes and at the same time, saying "Stand still". His downward jabs are fast, thus becoming sometimes unpredictable.
When he says stand still, i always punched him, its a lot easier than dodging it and you get a star, much much easier way to get stars than trying to predict wink punches
Intro: Meet Mr. Sandman, the Undefeated World Circut Champion, from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Everyone else who has stepped in the ring with this monster, Glass Joe, Von Kaiser, Disco Kid, King Hippo, Piston Hondo, Bear Hugger, Great Tiger, Don Flamenco, Aran Ryan, Soda Popinski, Bald Bull, and Super Macho Man, have all been left sleeping by the time the match is over. Now it's up to Little Mac to put Mr. Sandman's lights out and win the World Circut Championship Belt once and for all.
And all the characters (including the ones from super punch out for the SNES like Dragon Chan, The Bruiser Bros, Narcis Prince And Mad Clown, also Pizza Pasta, Kid Quick (I think it was his name) Mike Tyson And Mr Dream Could Join Too
Some of Sandman's punches are very quick (like the left overhand one he throws, his first of the fight) so you can't dawdle. But then there's punches like the 'stand still!' or 'night night!' where if you dodge straight away, you'll be back in the centre of the screen by the time he throws the punch. So if you don't have the routine down, you wait for him to move before either dodging or waiting. Since he's fast, you can often get that split-second decision wrong
i've noticed a pattern with him, seems every first and second round he starts with the same combination of punches, and as far as i know, it's the first seven. quick overhead left (twice) stand still overhead right quick overhead left stand still overhead right quick right jab then quick overhead left. as far as i've seen, every first and second round he opens with that.
Between him calling you "Mac baby" and saying things like "Brush your teeth, its bedtime" and winking at you, it really seems like my nightmare of prison
after watching your vids, I've learned that when the opponent flashes red, you need to duck. when they flash yellow, hit them to get a star. and they telegraph their attacks, so I need to pay attention very well
Actually, The Sandman is a folklore character who is said to sprinkle magic sand into the eyes off sleepless kids, which in turn makes them sleep. In a German novel however, the main character's Grandmother says that he's an evil creature that steals the eyes of children that don't sleep and feeds them to his kids.
now correct me if im wrong i believe that mr sandman was in the first punch out, right before the fight with mike tyson but what do i know? im new to punch out but i love it
Damn, I've been practicing against this guy before the match, and I still can't get the timing to dodge his simplest attack down. Yet I can dodge everything else. That damn left-hand overhead jab/punch.
In film, we have Rocky. In video games, we have Mr. Sandman.
Gotta love Philly.
lmao and in Reality Legendary Heavyweight Joe Frazier, which a lot of Rocky was based on
SomecallmeJohnny 10 years and only one reply on here
@@notjudgementalsoldier5135 Imagine if they respond
@@CommKommando Actually I think Rocky is based off Chuck Wepner
It isn't the "fighting city of Philadelphia" for nothing.

Doc: You won, kid! But you still got room for improvement! Let's get ready for the next challenge!
Little Mac: I JUST BEAT MR.SANDMAN YOU FUCK!!!
Satisfying seeing Mr. Sandman destroying most of the other fighters in his intro.
That explains why he’s the champ
Him destroying the lower fighters also explain where Piston Hondo and Super Macho Man got their only one loss.
This guy is the perfect final opponent. He's pure intimidation and doesn't waste any time showing off.
Imagine Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson, and The Big Show all wrapped up in one huge man.
I think title defense sandman is supposed to reference Tyson from the nes punch out
@@EchoCedric561 with his wink attack yes
0:40 we...are...screwed.
wait...wait... winning without evading and/or blocking?!?! the creators of this game are freaking sadists
Sergio Manzaneda That's Nintendo Hard for you.

+kyletev111 Isnt that all punch out battles? (excluding glass joe)
Skip the Tutorial already proved that the entire game is possible without dodging, ducking, or blocking.
I've always wondered if Mr sandman was a bully in school and he put kids to sleep. Or he was a quiet kid and was tired of getting bullied so he took them to see dreams.
empire fann The neck? That's disturbing as Crap.

*Mr. Sandman, Giant Footsteps*
Doc Louis: OH...MY...GOODNESS...!!!
Little Mac: Don't worry, Doc. I'll show him who's the strongest man!
Of course Mac is so strong: he's like the only white guy in the whole Bronx
KoriKeiji He's not white..
This comment section makes me laugh every time.

Rant over.
tyson's contract wasn't even valid for years. so he couldn't be the champ, ever.
Exactly, excuse for the rant, just something I was needing to get off my chest...
ThePigmanGuy no problem, man. i get it.
The NES version was more like a reimagining of the arcade version. You don't really know what a spin-off is.

I love how you can sometimes hear Mr Sandman saying 'Nope'
You half expect his neck to stretch and him to just walk off
Trully the champ. Hats down for Mr Sandman.
It is revealed like a bunch of years later that Mr. Sandman had no rule infractions, which separates him from all other boxers who broken at least one in a real life perspective.

DREAMLAAAAAAAND
Mr. Sandman and his Title Defense fight are two of the funnest in the game.
I don't care if it's the Wii version or the NES version, this man is very imtimidating.
Love that look on Doc's face when he first sees Mr. Sandman.
Little Mac: I'm tired, Doc!
Doc Louis: Listen son, if you get the belt, I'll give you back your bike!

LOL i love how they show him beating everyone in the intro!!!
I wish they could create a Rocky Balboa video game that had the best game play and characters, and you can get battle damaged in the ring.
What a great fight!
I haven't played this yet on the Wii, but its good to see that the strategies for most of the original fighters (from NES) are almost the same.

Mr Sandman. The Mike Tyson of this game.
That's what nightmares are made of...
Also, the main electric guitar plays for 13 seconds during his "Game over" music at the end of the fight.
In my opinion Mr Sandman is the only character that gives you a real challenge on Punch Out Wii
Donkey Kong exists.
glass joe title defense is actually harder than Contender Sandman though
thats because he throws you off guard, you probably get used to it mid-battle
Soda communist man gave me a pretty tough time
you know that the music of the count down of the opponent and mac changes as the opponent music??
I just love mac´s trainer, he's soo funny
If they ever make another Punch out, they better add a secret fight where you take on Mr Dream after meeting certain conditions in a Mr Sandman fight.
And all the characters (including the ones from super punch out for the SNES like Dragon Chan, The Bruiser Bros, Narcis Prince And Mad Clown, also Pizza Pasta, Kid Quick (I think it was his name) Mike Tyson And Mr Dream Could Join Too
5:26 That spot on sandman's abs is where his title used to be until mac took it away
The attack at 0:46 or 0:47! Gets me almost all the time, except for the first two.

WOW. Holy crap. Perfect time to get a star.

If you connect the last frames together, it will be Mr. Sandman doing a hook with a transforming boxer
Disco Kid looks like he's enjoying himself in the intro...
and Disco Kid still had that fucking smile on his face.
This looks ****ing epic. I don't wish I had a Wii... maybe I'll rent one.

its gonna be Mike Tyson part 2 for danny
damn his punches must hurt like hell you can even even hear a cracking sound X_x
I love how Mac just doesn't give a shit about Sandman's appearance and just waltzes in there.
Sandman is kinda scary, really. I just beat him for the first time in Super Punch Out (SNES), and it sure wasn't easy.
I love the music where can I dl it?
"Tell yo FACE! To leave my fists alone."
@8lackRo5e You're talking about the online Nintendo store? Right? What do you mean Virtual Console? Is that not the online store?

SANDMAN'S REVANGE!!!!!!! :O

I doubt it's intentional, but how come you keep dodging too early? Is it just the stress messing with you during the fight?
Don't forget, he told you to join Nintendo Funclub!
Even Aran Ryan isn't happy. Only Mr. Sandman could make pain not fun.
Where did that star punch come from?!!
He's more of the "dream fight" in this game.
Don't forget No More Heroes.
Yes... very yes!
He was the final boxer in the arcade version, hence why he's last.
Mr. Sandman: BED TIME!

now correct me if im wrong
i believe that mr sandman was in the first punch out, right before the fight with mike tyson
but what do i know? im new to punch out but i love it
0:19 Hmm.... Mr. Sandman vs. Glass Joe. That would have been an interesting fight.
I expected him to have a high pitched Mike Tyson-esque voice...
He'd be good to play as in Smash Bros.
you make it look so easy XD.
I just love mac´s trainer, he's soo funny , dance like a fly, bite like a mosquito... I´m taking about a BIIG mosquito baby...a great great BIG ONE!!!

Mr. Sandman is goddamn terrifying.
sand man most challenge character to fight hes real deal out of all punch out characterts
The mix between Mike Tyson and Mr. Dream. Mr. Sandman's here!
mr. sandman's uppercut combo is a reference to mike tyson
I wonder why Mr. Sandman's so obssessed with sleeping. XD
Damn, I've been practicing against this guy before the match, and I still can't get the timing to dodge his simplest attack down. Yet I can dodge everything else. That damn left-hand overhead jab/punch.
Mr. Sandman does his best Chewbacca impersonation before he sends out some Mac-owning uppercuts.
I think he's supposed to be Tyson in this, what with the 31-0 Win streak Tyson has in Mike Tyson's Punch Out.
His punches sure hurt soo much ;(,poor mac lol.
