I love Madonna but didn't care for a lot of American life. Not because of the political content it just fell flat for me after Ray of Light and Music. Didn't care for the song structures or music.

I know she looks good but this seems a bit unflattering the background is interesting (I'm not a critic) but it just doesn't have that certain feel but it almost does it's kinda funny
She has a whole lot of underrated songs but that's also what makes her special. Those songs are like rare treasures specifically for us (the fans) and they underline the "experimental" characteristic of her artistry. Experimental doesn't necessarily go with "commercial". She doesn't make music to sell or climb the charts, she's a TRUE ARTIST that takes risks, evolves, experiments and challenges herself with every new project. That's talent. Talent isn't repeating the same damn formula or same song with slightly different trivial lyrics every ******* time. All hail to the Queen.

2020: I spent 10 YEARS searching for this song. I listened it for the first time at 10 years old, through radio. My parents told me it was one of Madonna, and they gave me a CD, but I couldn't find it in it and got really upset for months. I had no pc/phone or internet, so I coulnd't search it.
Tonight I saw a music video of singers through the years and remembered this fact.. so I decided to go and search for it, and here it is.
I finally can listen to it, after 10 years.

Still find it hard to believe this song didn't chart in the top 100. It's possibly one of my favourite Madonna songs and I wish she sang it in concert. Madonna is stunningly beautiful in the video and her voice is just as beautiful.

Greetings from germany. Came here in 2023 for the very first time. Never ever heard this song or the "American Life" album before. Or even watched this video. The ignition for me was a podcast on the german radio (at "NDR 2") were Mr. Peter Urban and his mate talked about the life of Madonna. They checked every album and when they reached "American Life" from the early 2000s (of which i have never heard before) it really kicked me. What should i say: although i am into Metal from the very beginning in the early 1980s and didn't follow the path of Madonna that much (her singles were all around....) THIS SONG AND THE WHOLE ALBUM REALLY KICKED ME! Great and awesome songs with unbelievable catchy melodies. And: she looked so cool back then. Just .....great!
