So many people judge her, but she was ground breaking as a female artist. She made herself from nothing with hard work. She's amazing
She’s been as big as anyone since the 1980’s. Every female pop star is emulating her, all of them. She wasn’t part of a duo or a group, Madonna has been herself and her own entity since I can remember and I’m in my 40’s, I was like 6 when she started hitting hit big, lol.
@@CatherineCampbell-i1p gotcha, you wanna go further back, works for me. She’s an icon, and I’m talking about my own personal recollection, seeing how it mentioned I was 6, meaning she could’ve been popular longer and iI wouldn’t have understood it, because I was a child, lol.
+Kabooty Yakushi She was great at almost 50, now she is almost 60 and still in great physical shape. Just a little too much done on her face. But what a dancer, what a fighter for survival in the world of corporate music.
Today one cannot get how HUGE it was this song, in any club people were just sitting sipping their drinks 🍹🍹 nobody dancing, then Hung Up started and instantly EVERYONE got up, hit the dancefloor and got crazyyyyyyy!!! I am not so sure the if each member of ABBA cares much for Madonna, but the fact that Madonna sampled ABBA's Gimme Gimme Gimme intro says much about the value of the sample still relevant standing the test of time... it is a very good intro piece -- one a DJ can easily use as well with other music today -- with its 120 bpm -- perfect dance beat.
There's an interview where Abba said they admire Madonna, they don't like samples but they let Madonna to sample their hit because they admire her and her music! They only let The Fugees and Madonna to use their songs!
Well it is not neccessary that each member of ABBA likes Madonna. Benny and Björn - the rights owner of ABBA like her. Mike Oldfield did an ABBA cover too with permission. but Scooter had to re-record a song with an abba sample and change the album which included the song.
It's insane how she's mastered the art of making songs that don't age... it hit number 1 everywhere 16 years ago when it was released and it would do the same thing today. Genius.
@@madgepereira2891 madoona wanted to use it and bought that part of their song and some people from abba agreed to it but i do like gimme gimme gimme more
This is just ABBA's 'Gimme Gimme Gimme' with a couple more lyrics thrown in on top with a middle aged woman gyrating semi-nude. There's literally no talent in this at all.
@@alanf8309 she wrote all the lyrics to this song and the whole, spectacular album, and produced the album with Stuart Price as well. Its probably one of the best produced pop/disco albums in recent memory. The production on every track is outstanding
@@breal401 because of the baseline? Than Whitney Houston's cover of I will always love you is more about Dolly Parton's talents than Whitney , since that's a full cover a d it was written by Dolly and produced for Whitney by other people, unlike Madonna, Whitney never wrote it produced any of her material. and let's talk about Madonna's dance talent in the video, she does a great dance routine just weeks after she fell off her horse and was still in pain and was told by doctors not to dance for months, Madonna felt she needed to dance for the video, even in pain, with broken bones still not healed
@@breal401 in case you didn't know by watching the video, this video is an homage to Saturday Night Fever with Madonna playing Stephanie, the Karen Lynn Gorney role, which is why she's dressed just like her in the leotard, as Madonna was a professional dancer like the Stephanie character when she started out, the video is also supposed to take place in 1978, the whole album is a bonafide disco throwback album, the production on these songs by Madonna and Stuart Price is outstanding
I could watch this over and over. The parallel editing and movement is perfect. Love how she invokes past techniques as far back as the 80's. I'm thinking of the video "Express Yourself" - where the sound of a song of liberation is heard (on a boombox here, on a horn in Express Yourself) leading to an awakening of those who hear it (the guys at the pizza shop throw down the mop and dance). Then we have take no crap night walking Madonna - (What it Feels Like for a Girl hair). Everyone is shown leaving as if on their way to a final dance off - Beat It, Michael Jackson style. Also Ray of Light ends at a nightclub. I love how she mixes consistency with change.
Do you people who are complaining that it sounds like ABBA Gimme Gimme realize what a sample is? Madonna asked ABBA personally if she could sample the song and they agreed, loved the song and receive a portion of the royalties. Madonna finished the song before the ABBA hook was even added

Madonna strongly fought for SO many things (and still fighting), like Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender rights when none dares to speak of it, sex equality, HIV/AIDS and many more. NOW she's fighting new things; AGAINST AGEISM. Madonna had proved at what age... U can still be naughty, be sexy, be fun and be unique! Thank you Universe for bringing Madonna to Earth! WE WILL LOVE HER FOREVER!!! :)
Ya know I like Madonna a lot...but there's no denying she's too old for this. Also how did she fight for "HIV/AIDS" I didn't realize she was a doctor. Yeah Madonna is cool, yeah I like her music, but the right thing for someone of her age is to step aside and let the new generation move in. Not saying she can't partake but partake like a woman in her upper 50s should.
I can't blame your point of view in life is very limited and I understand that you have no idea 'bout her contribution with gay/sr8 people infected with HIV/AIDS.
princephillay What about her gay (dear) friends who died with AIDS aren't they people too? I bet you don't know that. Read this article (if you can).www.popmusicgadfly.com/2014/04/02/madonna-aids-huge-mistake/
***** First off bitch, lets stop with that "gay people with aids are people too" when did I say they weren't? So, we can put an end to that. Second, as much money as she has and we've made no progress (because of Madonna directly) But yeah writing a song will cure that shit right up. She raised awareness that's it. I'm not saying she did absolutely nothing but she has the power to do something and singing a song doesn't do it.
I'm not even a Madonna fan but this particular track is a masterpiece...

I think Madonna was her most stunning during this era
i want the drugs you on lol
News flash: Madonna has always been stunning and will continue to do so
She’s been as big as anyone since the 1980’s. Every female pop star is emulating her, all of them. She wasn’t part of a duo or a group, Madonna has been herself and her own entity since I can remember and I’m in my 40’s, I was like 6 when she started hitting hit big, lol.
@@renecarrero7072 "...when she started hitting hit big..." she's always been hitting her hits big, ever since being a ballerina at Chicago U
One of her best songss!

What an era this was. Still jamming to this masterpiece of an album to this day. Love me some Madonna ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Today one cannot get how HUGE it was this song, in any club people were just sitting sipping their drinks 🍹🍹 nobody dancing, then Hung Up started and instantly EVERYONE got up, hit the dancefloor and got crazyyyyyyy!!! Such adrenaline....everyone mimicking the moves she does with her hands ...I was 19 yrs old and for almost a YEAR in Italy this was the hottest hit....
that sounds so fun. i miss clubbing sooo much
They should just play this all night then!

Madonna has good taste in music if she likes ABBA! Even though I’m a ABBA Fan myself.
Never had this many likes on a comment before! Thank you 😊!

This is pop perfection
The intro is Gimme Gimme Gimme, Abba let Madonna to sample their hit because they admire her, they don't like artists to use their hits but they let Madonna to sample theirs because they loved Madonna song and they admire Madonna!!!!! Madonna song was a hit peaking the top of 41 countries!!!!!!!!!
True!!!!!!!!
Abba rights owner like Madonna, but doesn't mean the other members dislike the Queen! This was a great tribute and a hit!

QUEEN OF POP
She gave to us one of her best songs in 2005.
22 years after her debut.
I think this song says more about the talent of Abba than Madona's.

I just love her so much!

***** But...that's standing up for gay people she didn't do shit for people with aids so...
princephillay What about her gay (dear) friends who died with AIDS aren't they people too? I bet you don't know that. Read this article (if you can).www.popmusicgadfly.com/2014/04/02/madonna-aids-huge-mistake/
***** First off bitch, lets stop with that "gay people with aids are people too" when did I say they weren't? So, we can put an end to that. Second, as much money as she has and we've made no progress (because of Madonna directly) But yeah writing a song will cure that shit right up. She raised awareness that's it. I'm not saying she did absolutely nothing but she has the power to do something and singing a song doesn't do it.
