Thank you. I haven't used the generator in a couple of years and wanted to change the oil before bad weather strikes. Followed your easy instructions and it worked out great!
Hi! Thank you for your comment. You are very welcome, I’m glad this video helped! That generator has come through for my family during the worst snow storms and power outages.
Thanks for the video. I was gifted a camper and a generator from some awesome people in South Carolina. No owners manual that I could find with the information I needed. Hurricane Helene ravaged Swannanoa NC.... geezzzz
Thanks for the video. One thing though if I'm not wrong, on this Champion engine, you're suppose to only dip the stick for the oil check and not screw it in..
Loosing the filler cap will help the oil drain faster I think. I have a Champion 11,500 (9250 steady). I use Valvoline VR1 10w30 in the winter & 40 or 50w in the summer (20w50 too). These generators work hard and need a good racing oil. Nice, to the point video.
I have similar champion generator without the auto starter, I am on the east coast (NJ) would you recommend regular or synthetic 10w-30. I rarely use it only the generator(bought it for emergency power outrages)
If you have a Briggs & Stratton, you can use synthetic 5W30 for all temps. Or for regular oil, use 5W30 for around 40 degrees and below. Above 40 degrees or so, use SAE 30.
Does the wattage make a difference because I have a bigger one it is 5000 starting 4000 running so I am trying to figure out if I would or could follow the same instructions on the oil change???
manual says 5w 30, preferably synthetic; for cold and hot conditions. 10w 30 may be fine, but it's sub-optimal. they have engineers that test this stuff.
I laughed when I saw how easy his popped off. Mine is so stuck I broke a socket adapter, and the placement makes it almost impossible to get good leverage.

Good job showing the process. Take care sir.
Your the man thanks bro
Thank you, you are very welcome!
Get a Drainzit or Fumoto valve. Get a magnetic dipstick. Tip the generator to drain the last bit of oil.

Oh one more thing, i havve been using high mileage. Again is this ok? Thanks
Don’t screw in the oil dip stick to check the oil level. You just put it in without screwing it in then pull it out to check the level.

No oil Filter?
Most machines of this type don't have filters
I have been using full sythetic. Is this ok?
Yes it's fine
18.5 ounces is abt have a quart. Just look on your oil bottle. Why do you think they’ve numbers/measurements on the side for ?
We’re do you buy your oil?
Hi! I don’t have a preference, just about any home improvement store will have it.

Am I the only one Lu person who can’t get the drain plug off??
