Great video. I will follow this for my first maintenance check in the coming weeks. I picked up my Champion just before Christmas 2023. I want to do about another hr before I change the oil. I didn't know about the propane gap prior to your video.

For gas use,non ethanol is really the best ticket! Stabilizer for storage never hurts either.

Thanks for the effort/video! It will be helpful when I do these on mine especially since I only use propane too.
Overall for my/our needs, this generator works fine. My spouse can setup and use it too. My one annoyance/problem is how to easily trickle charge the battery. I'm still trying to figure this out so it is easy for my spouse to do without the side panel being taken off/reinstalled.
You could get something like this and simply plug onto the battery. But check yours and see if the terminals are exposed. This would allow plugging right onto the battery and run the tail outside the side panel

Thanks for the reply! I've got that tender or a similar model. The key is access to the battery terminals since the battery is "enclosed". There is an access opening on the end but pulling the battery out with the wiring has been a challenge. I've needed to open the side panel. I've been thinking of adding short battery leads to a SAE plug but have been worried about wire types to ensure the wire can withstand the temps of the generator when running. It was last summer on my latest efforts to find a solution. You've got me thinking about some other ways/ideas. I had called Champion before about getting the battery leads part but that part # was not known at that point so the rep didn't know how to put an order in. Anyway, thanks for the reply and helping me think thru some more ideas!!

My 4500 dual fuel came with 10 w 30 non synthetic 16.9 ounces recommended in manual. Recently had a starting issue. Champion had me fill oil up to the brim of the fill entry point. That exceeded the 16.9 ounces recommended in manual . How long do you get with 20 Lb (5 gallon) tank of propane? Thank for the information found it helpful

Nice video. I filled my gas tank too much and some gas got in the generator. It seems like it didn't run as well after that. The other factor is that I'm in high elevation about about 7,000 to 8,000 feet high. Is there a ground fuse that might have burnt out? I ask because I plugged in my 30 AMP RV circuit breaker and it says "No Ground".
These units are floating neutral. Also you loose 3-3.5% of power per every 1000 feet of elevation. So you have lost about 25% of capable power. Even more when hot.

there is very small filter on carburator fuel inlet.remove the black inlet hose from back side of the carburator may need carburator removal for good view

Whats the purpose of oiling your new air filter with the plastic bag method ? Just curious, i wd think it would restrict air flow
The bag just makes it easy if you don’t have anything else and distributes oil on the filter pretty evenly. You can even use motor oil. But you only need to coat the outside lightly, this traps the fine dust particles verses when it’s dry it can actually work its way through the filter slowly.

Hey I know it's not related but I have that genmax fuel pump thing I was the one that was telling you the piston gets stuck in it in mine anyway well they're sending me a new one now so I guess mine was defective
Oh good. Yea so far yours is the only one I have heard have an issue. Mine has still been fine during my testing but need to get more time on it.

the only tip you need to know for this brand....do not buy JUNK....ive had 3 of these nothing buy problems.
Considering most have had great luck with champion and this unit especially sometimes it could be OE… but every situation is different
@@johnnysweekends I find non inverters open generators to be much tougher and easily serviceable as everything is exposed and has an efficient cooling system. Inverters have way too many electronic circuitry and an air cooled engine in a closed canopy is definitely not a good thing.
@danteerskine7678 sure open frame is way easier to work on, not to mention lighter and cheaper. But louder, and a non inverter is also not nearly as fuel efficient. But you can buy many open frame inverter units if you want or need clean power. Which more and more it will need to be especially with more and more battery back up systems coming.
For construction get what ever, power tools hardly care.
