I just purchased this grill after tons of research 😜. I am so excited to try these wings. Haven't even cooked on the grill yet. I will be purchasing a vortex and trying these wings. I will be following you!! Great video for this newbie 😃. Lori
Awesome video going to have to try that rub! How many wings can you get on the summit kamado I can only get about 26 on my weber kettle using the vortex?
Those wings turned out awesome. That vortex is the real deal. My Performer and the Vortex is the only way I cook wings these days. Those are some nice rubs. One of our local bbq stores carries it.
I am a Weber Summit Charcoal G C. owner myself. I came here for two reasons. The phrase Hotty Totty, and the name D-ski Grillz. :-) Only a smart man wears a pair of gloves. That makes me a stupid man. I will have to rectify that soon. I use a Fire board 2 Drive for my slow cooks. Perfect everytime! S nS Grills had a Slow n Sear a few years back that was discontinued. I have to replace my Weber baskets soon, so for shits and grins, I looked at the SnS Grills website, first time in over a year. They now make a low profile Slow n Sear for the Summit, again. Also ordered the cast iron griddle and Drip pan. I can make breakfast and smash burgers now. Should get them tomorrow.
Great video! I will definitely be trying this technique on my Weber. I’m just a bit confused on the “grill spray” portion. Just to be clear, you sprayed the wings with grill spray, the type you spray on the grate to prevent sticking? Just making sure so that I can replicate your technique. Thanks!
Perfect! I’m always learning new things and came across your channel while searching recipes and BBQ techniques. Subscribed and appreciate your knowledgeable videos.
The fact that the wings are not over direct heat and the use of grill spray to help protect the color and crisp the skin is the recipe that reduces chances of your food burning. Hope this helps.
It’s call grill master. It’s made by Crisco. Any vegetable spray would work though. I use Pam spray most of the time now. Thanks for checking out the video.
Hey! What was your total cook time? What was the probe temperature of the wings before pulling? I watched other cooks and they let the Vortex go full blast 400 to 450+ and they say the wings are still not over cooked at 40 minutes. They say the vortex is very forgiving. Going to do your cook soon. Thanks so much !!
Probed at 165 to 170 John. The vortex will definitely cook your chicken quickly with the concentrated heat source. Let me know how they come out when you do the cook.. Thanks
I have just ordered a weber summit stand alone, looking for a vortex and they have different sizes. Which one do you have? Thanks for the videos, their great!
@@DskiGrillz I have check the sizes on the summit E6 and S6 which have the same measurements. Have you ever tried the Kamado Joe accessories with the weber?
@@DskiGrillz I have ordered the half grill grate for the joe classic to set on the lower rack on the summit. Also ordered the ceramic half plates and half grill grate from the big joe. This will be like a dual level cooking area one direct and one indirect at the same time. I am excited to get it. I have a stick burner and a pellet smokers already. Just looking for the high heat cooking.
@@kyledobson1607 Hi Kyle..Check out this sight to ensure you get the right vortex for your size grill. Click on the tab that says “Which Size”. Have a good evening. vortexbbq.com/which-size/
@@DskiGrillz Thanks for posting the link. Saw a Vortex up close the other day. Now I know what size. Looks perfect for the wings, but Malcolm on the video, other suggested uses made sense, too.
Wings came out Great, Happy Halloween to you and your Family. I m curios with regular kettle should there be any concerns about heat hitting dome, this shouldn't melt anything. Check out Cookshack PG 500. When you finish your outdoor BBQ Mecca you will need more equipment.
You must dream of ways to use that Summit grill, those wings looked good, to bad you don't have a transporter like they had on Star trek, you could beam them to your loyal followers. Great job!
I like your idea! The world is moving fast, self driving cars…possibly transporter food in the near future..Thanks for your faithful support of the channel Tyrus!
@@DskiGrillz Like you Dski I have a # of grills and am always thinking of expansion. You exhibit the Summit often and so I'm thinking this to be a favorite. Let me ask a few ?'s if I may, is this a 34", is the enamel coating inside and out after 3 years of use wearing well, and are you completely satisfied with this purchase or better stated...would you do it again without reservation? Your humble servant, Ty
@@tyrus0872 Hey Tyrus. I wouldn’t think twice about making the purchase again. You are correct! The summit is my favorite of all my grills due to the versatility it offers. I’m waiting for a backyard offset and a 84” trailer pit later this year and into early spring! Zero blemishes on the summit after 3 years…definitely a “Best Buy” from my perspective. Take care my friend!
@@Mr2004MCSS To be honest Wayne, I’m pushing my luck. This will have to be it. When I brought up the backyard offset Momma Grillz was very upset with me😔. I have to cook extra good to get out of this one. 👍

Heeey Dski and Momma Grillz 👋🏾👋🏾 man those chicken wings look amazing!! I was shocked at the color. I may have to invest in a vortex. Great vid! ❤️🙏🏾
Hi Quita! Momma Grillz said hello. I’m glad you enjoyed the video. It’s great hearing from you. Thanks as always for your support.

Roughly 50 wings is the capacity on the summit using the vortex. Thanks for checking out the video.

Pam spray or any other vegetable oil spray. It makes an amazing crispy skin and keeps the color from turning too dark. Hope this helps

I waver between Pk 360 and Weber summit.

Absolutely Rich! Dski Grillz doesn’t due to temperature…lol. Thanks for checking out the video!

Kyle, It’s the largest they offer, I don’t remember the name, maybe XL? I will research soon to validate. Thanks
