I made this today on my Weber 22 inch kettle and turned out fantastic! My wife said it was the best fried chicken she’s every had. Thank you for a great idea and a new favorite!
I have to try this one. I was going to use my 26 inch Glen Blue for your steak and shrimp cook. However, I did not do that one. It's still in the works. It's been a little cold in Philadelphia, PA. This cook looks amazing.
Great video and recipe, will give it a try. I notice you have the summit with the table, perhaps using the propane igniter to fire up the vortex would make it simpler than the chimney.
The propane igniters would have been an option but the chimney helps you get a hotter more even temperature a lot quicker. Great observation. Thanks for checking out the video.
Great video Dski. Those chicken legs look awesome. I will definitely have to try this. The vortex is no joke and one of my favorite kettle accessories.
I've bn meaning to give this a try on my Weber Kettle... I'm goin to look for this Zataran Chicken Fry mix on my next visit to the grocery store... AWESOME 👍👍
This is a world class video. It is nearly impossible to get a Kamado Joe to cook chicken and have crispy skin but your zatarins seasoning and the vortex got my skin crispy for the 1st time on my Kamado Joe. (The Joe holds moisture so well, it makes crispy skin very challenging). I did cook at 450-490 though. U Sd put this on the Kamado Joe Facebook page and Kamado Joe UA-cam page if possible. Lots of people would like to see this video. Post note: you must be from southwest louisiana cause your using zatterins which happens to be my favorite also for chicken and fish. Maybe talk to zatterins about posting on their site also. World class video!
Great video. Those look fantastic. You are super specific about everything but the herbs. I couldn't read the label when you showed it in the video. What herbs are you putting on? Thanks for sharing.
One is called “Complete” Seasoning and it’s the one I recommend you use for the herbs. It’s usually sold at Walmart in case you have one close by. Here is a link so you ca see what it looks like: badiaspices.com/product/complete-seasoning-12-9-oz/. Happy New Year. 🎊
Really looks great! Sounds great. Ordered the spices to try it. Question. I noticed you didn’t flip the pieces, right? Does this method work best without flipping?
I haven’t tried flipping as I spend all of the short cook time developing the top crust. I don’t believe it would be as crispy if you flip mid way through but I will give it a try in the future to see. Happy New Year!
@@DskiGrillz thanks for the tip! I’m gonna try it your way.. I definitely haven’t been able to get my wings to be nearly as crispy as yours came out! They sound amazing!
Awesome video, I just subscribed! If the rest of your videos are half as good as this one I’ll be happy! Also you must have arms of steel, looks like you passed your arm over the vortex several times, didn’t flinch! I do that, I burn the crap out of myself lol!
Dski Grillz - Where can I get the Grate like you have ? The only thing is I have a 26 Inch Weber & I'm having a hard time finding something for that size grill.
I tried this yesterday and it turned out good. I used the Zatarains Hot & Spicy. I noticed in the 2nd video you used water/eggs instead of milk/eggs mixture. Did it make a big difference?
I just found your UA-cam channel and I love your channel. I would also like to thank you (Dski Grillz) for addressing your viewers as Folks and not Guys. I would also like to ask if you are a member of BBQ Pit Boys?
Thanks for the kind words James. I’m not a member of the BBQ Pit Boys but I really enjoy their videos. I can see how the “Thumbs up” would make you ask. Thanks for checking out the channel! Have a happy holiday season.
Awesome video! I have the same WSCG and medium Vortex. Have you tried the Vortex on the upper charcoal grate position? Just curious to see if you’ve noticed a difference.
Another great video Dski! I don't know how I missed asking this question when the video went up but what type of cooking spray did you use on these legs and the thighs in your kettle fried chicken thighs video?👍🏾
Hello. Are u still using the arteflame?? I got the vortex accessory. Didnt know whether to use the grill grate with cebter insert or arteflame. Arteflame is pricey but is it worth it??
Your enthusiasm makes me actually think that I can do this! Great vid!
You can! Thanks for checking out the video.
I see and feel your passion for grill food it is a life style. Top notch video great quality.

You are very welcome Carl. Happy New Year.
Looks good. Ready to try. At start you said eggs and water. Then at the end you said eggs and milk. Can you just clarify quick?
Not sure what i was thinking. Definitely milk was used as part of the battering process.
I did this cook for dinner tonight and it was a hit. The vortex is amazing, good look out Dski Grillz!!
Glad you enjoyed Russell! Happy New Year!
Looks great! I have been thinking of getting a weber summit
Great video, looks amazing, All the Best!!!

Great Video! Can't wait to try this fried chicken..
Gotta try that one. That looks fantastic!
Super video! What size vortex did you get. They recommend medium but the large works too.
I got the large. It works great for the 24" summit. Thanks for checking out the video Berry!

Yeah going to try this on the Weber 26". I have done chicken wings using corn starch to get them crispy but have to try this.
Great video! Keep up the good work, happy new year
Thanks you. Happy New Year.
Got my homemade vortex at 600 degrees wings were done in 30 minutes crispy juicy and delicious 😋
Great video. Do you think duck fat spray would work as a substitute for cooking oil spray?
Legs look Awesome!
Thanks Tom! Happy Holidays

What size vortex do you have? I just purchased the weber summit kamado and not sure which size vortex to buy
Large is the size vortex I purchased. It works perfect on the summit.
@@DskiGrillz thank you 🙂

Thanks. Medium Vortex. Happy holidays.

I'll check around for a comparable grate for the 26" kettle. My 24" weber summit luckily came with the removable insert.
