Gates McFadden (Star Trek, Labyrinth) joins us this week to share her decades worth of experience with Star Trek - from her true feelings about certain storylines, to her bond with the Next Generation cast, to her favorite reveals in Picard. After some ‘inside baseball’ talk about our shared passion for podcasting, Gates shares terrifying stories of coming face-to-face with her stocker multiple times… before there were safeguards or laws that protected women from predatory men. We also talk about her love for David Bowie, her forgotten kiss with Bill Murray, and her time working alongside muppet master Jim Henson.

I met Gates McFadden at a Star Trek convention in Charlotte NC. She just came across as a really good person.

Love Gates she is a beautiful soul she looks amazing. Really enjoyed this episode, Michael asking Gates losing family and friends as you get older. I have lost most of my family members parents grandparents and Aunts and uncles, most of them were in there 80s and 90s except my mother she was 74 and my sister was 62, just lost my sister out of 6 children this year it’s part of life as you get older. You never get over grieving and you will miss them and feel an empty spot in your life. I am just glad they are not in pain or suffering anymore. Love Star trek The Original Series it came out on 1966, we didn’t get a Tv until 78, I use to watch Star Trek with my brothers love the show. Love labyrinth and David Bowie ❤ Really enjoyed listening to Gates and her story are amazing and the struggles she been through so inspiring another awesome episode❤Michael You Rock!!

These kids don't know what it was like before the VCR days even . Network TV stations weren't on 24/7 . There would be occasional late nite movies funded by Cal Worthington on weekends . Nixon escaped his impeachment .

Beautiful experience and I can definitely relate to the covering up shyness technique 😊

David Bowie got grounded in his Berlin time... where he lived (with Iggy Pop) in a neighbourhood that was quite far from being "up-scale". He basically lived among "the people".
After that, he didn't need a stage character anymore, to perform his music. And this is also when he became the film actor who we all know and love.

He was dirt poor then. A lot of artists of the time got totally ripped off by their management.

Bowie wasn't gay. Ziggy Stardust was gay which is a character he created. He never considered himself a singer. He said he creates characters and then just plays those, otherwise he could never do it. Ziggy, Halloween Jack, Aladdin Sane, Man Who Fell, Thin White Duke, etc.

How about we stop interrupting the people telling the stories.

Who is she? Where's Tom? I only see Micheal, but where is Tom? We need to discuss about when can Tom wear the Superman suit.

Beverly Crusher was my least favorite character on TNG. On a show set in the 24th century when humanity is advanced and enlightened enough to peacefully explore the cosmos, Beverly somehow still managed to be extremely self righteous.

But if she was a man, she would've been considered a strong leader, right? The whole reason she left the show after the first season was because executives with your mindset just wanted her to be a pretty woman in spandex. She was chief medical officer of the flagship of Starfleet. I think she acted exactly like she was supposed to.
