"David Bowie unexpectedly returned to the stars".
what a sweet way to put it.
*Sad highfive*
Hereeeeee am i floating round my tin can, far above the moon
+BIMMOM Look up Flight of the Conchords "Bowie's in Space". That's what I think of when I hear that.
+BIMMOM
Oh now I know what it means...b*Burst into tears* WHY DAVID BOWIE WE MISS YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111111!!!!!!!!!!!
+Preston Swooper Liked the movie. Liked the video. That codpiece is definitely a character in both. There is no possible way to ignore it. Lighten up, Hobble.
I've got one more tidbit: Jareth and Sarah were originally supposed to kiss, but Bowie refused because she was just a teenager.
+Rin Sawyer really? :o uhm.. i would've been volunteered for the kiss scene! :D haha
+Selfproductions24 I dunno, if I was sixteen, I might have more than a few qualms about kissing a guy who's older than my dad. XD
excuse me but its david bowie... he was the hottest guy in my opinion. :3 i would wanted to kiss him hehe...
***** Well, it was his choice. I think most teen girls wouldn't have objected to a kiss. :P
Rin Sawyer awww David was a good guy. I can’t blame him for not wanting to do that. One, it would’ve been odd in the movie since he’s older and two, he was way older and that’s just not cool.
David Bowie indeed was the freaking best
He was good. I watch it for Jennifer Connelly. And I dream of being a Helping Hand or two. Or eight.
Shir BM the hottest
Shir BM my thoughts exactly
Watched it when it came out....date movie...and at 58, I still enjoy the movie.
Ashy Uchiha sizzling hot
David Bowie has returned to the stars and he will shine on forever.
why why God its not fair
Harold Ramis
David Bowie
and Wes Craven
are dead but
Michael Bay
George Lucas
and The creator of Xmen3
are still kicking
+The Random Aussie but you get my point
+erica creta What's wrong with George Lucas?
+RedRogueWulf Star Wars one and two
+Cece Holt why must you make me cry ;(
this video should be called "9 things you probably didn't know about labyrinth unless you watched the documentary on the dvd extras"
TheRantingBoy haha...Right? xP
TheRantingBoy Trueee, as the video went on I was thinking "....I-..I alreADY KNOW ALL OF THESE?!" They must have been too lazy to do any actually research lmao
One of my favorite documentaries of all time!
true, i was like, "knew it, knew it..... knew it."
Well, first of all, the title says "things you PROBABLY didn't know".
And second: not everyone has the DVD
Props to that juggler, 'cause not only did he have to juggle properly, but he had to do it while still looking natural in proportion to Bowie's body. Getting it to look convincingly like it was Bowie's arm must've taken forever.
I always find it amazing and I feel sorry for Micheal he looks so pissed every time he drops the ball
Samuel Wallace they make such a big fuss on contact juggling blind but I find it a lot easier with my eyes closed
We were discussing David's Death in my English class the other day and my professor said "He has returned to the Goblin City," I cried.
I met Bowie's stunt double several years back at Comic Con, and he was telling me about how, during filming, Bowie took him to some concert or music festival thing. Apparently, Bowie thought a pair of sunglasses was enough of a disguise.
Yeah, they ended up, and I quote Nick Gillard here "Going for a very rapid jog with a lot of fans!"
After Bowie left us to go home, this was one of the first things I thought of. Right before I bawled my eyes out.
P.S. I still find it amusing that Beverley Crusher was one of the choreographers.
I THOUGHT that looked like Gates McFadden!
it is her she went by her actual name Cheryl McFadden but changed it to gates for the series of star trek the next generation that debuted in 87 . frankie holtzmann smales.alienbustomperfan
Jude Ku what crusher!?
I always had a crush on her
this is my all time favourite movie. my wedding headpiece is designed off Sarahs headress from the ball scene. my cake has the blue worm on it and our first dance is as the world falls down to say im obsessed is an understatement.
wish i'd thought of that.
woollen hat I love you
woollen hat I always said if I ever get married, that's the song. Non negotiable. Lol
Carly Yenser if you check out melancholy mapie on facebook and look through the photos you'll see my headpiece.
Honestly my wedding went super super quick and I barely remember it as a day, its just a blur....but the dance I remember every single moment of it. We where in our own little bubble. It was incredible x

Can I add number ten??? The wardrobe that David Bowie wore for Labyrinth(to date) is on display permanently at Seattle's EMP Museum as well as several other relics from the film Labyrinth AND The Dark Crystal. I had the chance to see the suit in person, and yes, I got a picture of it,......
Right...another place to add to places to visit if I ever make it to the States.
***** I've heard of that and it's already on my list!
I love Seattle and that's a very good reason for a revisit. Thanks.
If you're willing to travel to see things used in this movie, you should make your way to Scottsboro, Alabama. There is a place called Unclaimed Baggage which houses the actual suit used for Hoggle, as well as some other little items.
Wow! I even have the "coffee table book" that Mr. Henson had published of D.C.! Very worth looking the "hunt"!
David Bowie made the Labyrinth the classic it is today. Had Jackson or Sting done it it wouldn't be near as popular today.
It's sad we lost such an amazing, influential, & unique Icon but the impact he left will live on forever.
+Cheshire- Smile
He was meant for this role! He was amazing in this movie.
+Cheshire- Smile Who knows what type of songs and dancing may of been done if MJ had done it.
JonCombo probably similar to 'The Wiz'
Cheshire- Smile I doubt he had much control in that though. Thriller was 4 years later. His sway would of been minimal.
+Cheshire- Smile Many are of the opinion that the film sucked ( which it did ) and surprised that a musician of his calibre would even have condescended to appear in such a heap of trash. Then again, Sting made the same mistake. As a singer Bowie was superb. As an actor.....no way.
Labyrinth is just child hood no one can't replace bowie he was perfect for the role
Another little bit of triva which I find rather enchanting is that Brian Froud was doing concept art for the movie, whilst his wife was pregnant with Toby. Froud painted a picture of a baby surrounded by goblins and when Toby was born, he looked exactly like the baby in the picture!
+Jack Woodgate whoa
+Jack Woodgate ...Babies look pretty similar...
Jason Zabbidou Google the pic. The baby in it has has a similarly shaped head and golden curls as Toby has in the film.
They proably knew he would have golden curls because of genetics andhead shape is just being desperate for a connection. I mean, really?
Jason Zabbidou What are you arguing for? It's just a nice little anecdote and remarkable coincidence. Perhaps Froud was influenced by baby pictures of _himself_ or his wife when painting the picture and therefore the baby in the picture was _bound_ to have a resemblance to Froud's offspring, it doesn't matter.
Not every comment on UA-cam is a sinister conspiracy that needs to be dismantled.
Honorary 10) Toby Froud is now a master puppeteer in his own right, and his film credits include The Box Trolls and Kubo and the Two Strings.
One of them, a piece of shit that he wasted his talent on, and a movie about a magical kid with magical hair strings
If i'm not mistaken he's also working on the new dark crystal series!
Crazy! Also legit goggle taking a wiz is just so funny to me
Sarah: “That's not fair!”
Jareth: “You say that so often, I wonder what your basis for comparison is?”
" The balls that he's always playing with." Quote of the year everyone.
"David Bowie was the freaking best"
Hell yeah
Bowie wrote the majority of the songs for this movie. He is the life & soul of this film.
'There's such a fooled heart
Beating so fast in search of new dreams'
Michael jackson and sting would have done nowhere near as well as david bowie did in labyrinth he was brilliant
Actually Toby got the part because the other baby was afraid of the puppets. Toby wasn't as his dad had them around the house. Only thing they had to do was change the name from Freddie to Toby because Toby wouldn't respond to Freddie!
"David Bowie was the freakin' best." Right you are, and you rock for knowing it.
when I was a kid the red puppets that take off body parts always creeped me out. love this movie wonderful actor.♡
I've thought about fast forwarding or skipping that scene, but I think my OCD would make me back up and watch it even more closely, so I just wince through the whole thing at normal speed.
+brian554xx me too!!
Dear god yes!
Jason, Freddy, Chucky, various movie monsters, don't bat an eye at them. If I remember right they're called the Fieries. Those things freaked me right out. I skip that part every time.
Omg hell yes!! They scared the hell outta me. I would fast forward past them pulling out there eyes and pulling off there heads. Or I would have nightmares about those glowing red eyes:)
And one of those puppets voices was Kevin Clash... Elmo' s Voice..until his issues came to light!
Amazing tribute to Bowie. Love him and the movie soooo much. RIP, David.
Yes and also RIP Jim Henson to.
Joy Bessie W. me too.
Admiral Ackbar yeah.R.I.P. Jim Henson.
I loved David. He was the best
the baby noises in the movie are actually a real baby. the noises on the soundtrack are david bowie. there's a real obvious difference. take a listen.
Bonus about Hoggle. The costume was lost on an airplane. Eventually, the Unclaimed Baggage center in Huntsville, Alabama found him and there he stands to this day, in a small makeshift museum.
Took a picture with it about two weeks ago.
Yep! I’ve seen it and took a picture!
Unclaimed Baggage is in Scottsboro, AL
Haha!!! Aw man why does that sound like it fits Hoggle's life / Hoggle's mood
Also, I read somewhere that during the filming of the movie they were looking for a vest-jacket for David Bowie to wear. One of the assistant production managers went to a used/consignment clothing store looking for one - and she found one that was perfect. And inside the vest-jacket was a name tag that had a name still discernible on it after so many years. And the name was "L. Frank Baum."
When I see him as the Goblin King it's still like he's that King now. Like he's immortalized in this. God he looks great gorgeous in this film.
Yes agreed...and he was too good as the goblin king for his own good, it gave me chills and those eyes...yep im a Bowie fan...
One more thing you didn't mention is that Gates McFadden (credited in the movie as Cheryl McFadden), who played Dr. Crusher in Star Trek: The Next Generation, was choreographer and puppet movement arranger for the film.
It's in the credits. For everyone to see. Why mention it?
@@Anvilshock Because people don't bother to read the movie credits. Either because they leave the theater/turn off the stream before they end or because they simply can't read.
@@simonmacomber7466 Well, that's their problem then, not the problem of those who actually pay attention. When I hear "you (probably) didn't know about X", I expect background information that is specifically NOT immediately discernible from examining X itself.
As much as special effects and CGI are incredible these days, and no disrespect to SFX artists and animators; I always find things like this much more interesting. When filmmakers had to be truly imaginative, inventive and use what they had at the time. Hats off to them.
"David Bowie unexpectedly returned to the stars."
There's a starman waiting in the sky....
Bowie bulge would not be the same without Bowie.
+DEFxRECON i love your account picture X'D haha
There is an awesome video by Flight of the Concords, called Bowies in space. If you've never seen it, you should.
That puppet isn't Merlin, it's Ambrosius.
NotMostGirls indeed!
But... wasn't Ambrosius "Inspired" by Merlin? Like everything else... something from her "Real" or "Home" life made it into the Labyrinth?
My Uncle did the barking voice of Ambrosius, : My claim to fame :)
Jenny Milne is your uncle a dog
AxellPhotography Yeah like how Dorothy’s real life reflects when she’s in Oz.
Lol those sacred tight pants helped usher in my awareness of sexuality in the most perfect balance of subtlety and in-your-face-ness imaginable! (Just an 80's baby reality);-)
You remind me of the Babe
+TheFewzz what babe?
+FanfareT.Loudest The babe with the power.
+PheydraSunstar what power?
+AichiKitsune The power of voodoo.
who do
Who's still watching in 2018? I am, so I'd like to share some facts I learned from Jim Henson's biography...
1. An addition to your first fact: Before they considered singers, they also considered actors like Simon MacCorkindale and Kevin Kline. When they did consider singers, it was Jim Henson who really wanted Sting, but - lucky for us - his 2 sons, Brian and John, protested in favour of Bowie, and voila! (Bowie had also been requested as a special guest on the Muppet Show by some of the Muppet performers, but had never made it, so it's nice that he was the one chosen for Labyrinth all those years later!)
2. Speaking of considering live actors, a lot of actresses auditioned for the role of Sarah, including Sarah Jessica Parker, Laura Dern, Mia Sara, Mary Stuart Masterson, Ally Sheedy, Jane Krakowski, and even a then 17-year-old Helena Bonham Carter. It took almost 10 months, and when Connelly auditioned in early 1985, she was pronounced "just right" almost the moment she walked in.
3. An addition to your facts about Hoggle: When Bowie first started learning how to interact with the puppets, he and an especially hard time with Hoggle. However, he laughed it off later, saying, "Once I'd overcome the disorientation, we all got along great!"
4. Speaking of learning to interact with puppets, Connelly also had trouble at first interacting naturally with them; she recalled it being hard in the beginning, because "it's strange thinking you're talking to a puppet." However, when the illusion became real to her, she explained, "The puppeteers make them so lifelike...and you can learn to really relate to each one of them."
5. The fierys were originally going to be called "wild things", but it was decided that that sounded too much like the story "Where the Wild Things Are".
6. Bowie winkingly describes Jareth as a "spoiled child, vain and temperamental, kind of like a rock 'n' roll star", although Jim Henson found Bowie to be nothing like that, and even described him as a "normal, well-grounded, straightforward person". Similarly, Connelly described Bowie some 30 years later as a "lovely, sweet guy".
7. On the first day of filming, since George Lucas was the executive producer, he surprised everyone y arranging for Darth Vader to stroll onto the set and present Jim Henson with a good-luck card.
8. Jim Henson seemed to be impressed with both of his human stars. Of Connelly, he explained, "I found I could talk very straight to her; I didn't have to tiptoe around her feelings or anything like that"; she didn't crave the constant reassurance many around Jim seemed to need. He also wrote privately that Bowie "had been wonderful to work with, and had added a truly magical spark as Jareth", and gave Bowie a free hand with the songs. And vice versa, Bowie admiringly described Jim as he most "unflappable guy he'd ever encountered in any profession", that he "couldn't believe Jim's capacity for work", and that his calm spirit made the whole film "a pleasure to work on for the entire cast and crew".
9. And now, a funny behind-the-scenes story: One day, Jim Henson's son, John, visited the set with a friend, and was starstruck when Bowie greeted him in one of the costumes as Jareth. At the end of the day, when finally out of costume and makeup, Bowie sought John out (apparently wearing a bright red jacket at the time), and John was so awed by the sight of the celebrity that he and his friend ducked out of the studio, unnoticed. "Supposedly, David Bowie went around looking for us for about an hour afterward," John sheepishly recalled later on, "But we were gone!"
And that's the extent of my knowledge! (I hope I didn't sound like a know-it-all? This was all stuff I learned from reading a biography of Jim Henson.)
Wow, thanks for all of that! Realy cool!
I love the one with Darth Vader visiting the set and giving Henson a good luck card.
And the last one was so sweet and cute! Those lucky boys! I would've killed to meet David Bowie in his Jareth costume.
I love stories of fans meeting celebrities.
okay the comment about MJ wearing those tight pants made me spit my drink. You need to warn the people.
I brought a friend to the movie today ( AMC played it) and told him at the start to look at Bowie's pants. 😂 He couldn't not see it .
my sister was obsessed with this movie when we were kids and we worn the vhs out rewinding and replaying magic dance and chilly down over and over and over. i think we drove our mom crazy!! rip bowie, you hero, you legend!
I'm a 06 baby and yet I LOVE the labyrinth with all of my heart. I love a lot of old movies. My favorite movies from the 1900's are Labyrinth, The Outsiders, and Dirty Dancing❤
same
Part of me wondered what it would have been like if Tim Curry played the villain instead.
It would have been different. The confused sexual dynamic on Jennifer Connely's part would have been repulsion rather than attraction. It might have been about as good a movie (technically) but it would have creeped out its target audience.
They'd have had to go for a PG-13 and market it as horror, I think.
I personally would have loved this had Bowie not played the part
@@zimriel Um... It was PG, because of Hoggle relieving himself in the pond.
Instead of a Goblin King, we would've had a sweet transvestite
I mean he did play as villain from another fantasy movie that came out a year before labyrinth with darkness from the movie legend so I guess it probably would have been similar to that
This is movie awesome when I'm both sober, high & drink
I fucking love this movie. Regardless of the movie mistakes there may be, it's amazing. My one flaw is that Sarah had the chance to be with Jareth forever and she didn't take it. Like, what was the point in making him in love with you if you don't even want him!? He's JARETH.
She was also just 14...no 14 year old knows WHAT they want.
She was 16
That’s not the point of the movie... if she just went with him there would be no story
To save her brother!!
Another fact - there were (obviously) multiple Hoggles made for the film, but what a lot of people don't know is that one of the puppets never made it to the set. He was lost during travel and was found in the Alabama airports baggage claim some years later completely decayed. He was repaired (very badly - like seriously he's scary looking) and put on display. I thought the repaired Hoggle was scary, but the pictures of him when he was found give me nightmares.
Here's another one: This movie's screenplay was written by Terry Jones from Monty Python.
David Bowie and Jim Henson Both Was Legends R.I.P
I watched this movie so much as a kid that we actually named our cat Hoggle.
"How do you like my labyrinth?"
It's been decades since I saw the movie last and still that line made my heart stop for a second!
You do have power over me Goblin King.
This was one of the most influential movies of my childhood. Henson and Froud were a magical pairing and adding Bowie into the mix made this beautifully brilliant. We all NEED a bit of magic in our lives and this is a timeless provider of that! And lets not forget "The Dark Crystal" too! Oh And "Legend" (Tim Curry is such an amazing actor) And the cartoon "The Last Unicorn"! lol I was so lucky to be literally shaped into who I am today thanks to all these gems!
What about Secret of NIMH, Neverending Story, Willow and Princess Bride?
+Johnlindsey289 omg yes!!! Especially The Princess Bride ❤
Lil'Bull Manders
The 80's was a golden age of fantasy eh?
i miss when i could just go with my mom to blockbuster and rent the last unicorn... it was my favorite movie, as i was so scared of the fireys!
ok i literally just put on my labyrinth shirt and went on UA-cam and this is the first fucking thing I see is my iPad psychic or some shit
There has been a lot of that going on for me since this gorgeous man passed, dreams of him holding my hand and comforting me, co-incidences like thinking of him or googling him and a Bowie song comes on the radio, candles turning into infernos whilst listening to his music and talking about him, lots of special Bowie-ness happening. I have had quite alot of things happen over the past 6 months. Last one was a few days ago when I went to my local bookstore and bought 'On Bowie' got back to work a few seconds later and Life on Mars was on the radio. Makes me feel connected in some way.
Tootsie Bellevue That's honestly really awesome. Thank you for sharing with us. Clearly he is watching over you as well *nods*
Labyrinth is one of the greatest fantasy films of all the 80’s
Here’s my list of my favourite films from the 80’s
1. Labyrinth
2. Never Ending Story
3. Dark Crystal
4. The Goonies
5. Back to the Future
And Plus David Bowie was iconic as Jareth Labyrinth (that’s his last name)
RIP Bowie... Super kickass movie!
"one of the most batshit parts in a fully batshit movie" lol I have to agree. I love Labyrinth but it's totally insane.
I'm 36 years old and I still love this movie!
I'm 40 and still love it too :).
I'm 31 and my family drove my dad crazy with this movie when we were kids..also I overplayed the animated Jungle book vhs..my dad brought it home with a few other gifts after we all gave him our contest entries of colored in posters for the walk for hunger in Massachusetts. .he said we all won even though we really all lost but we beleaved him for a long ass time until we got older and had that wait a second moment where we relized he was just being a nice dad ..so he gave us each a different gift and mine was the jungle book and one of my brothers got labrynth and then the vhs marathon began lol
45 and I think it's the best.
Me too. I remember watching it shortly after its release and being sooo in love with Jennifer. She was my first crush when I was knee high to a grasshopper lol.
This movie, CGI owl and all, was freaking AWESOME! It was a trailblazer! And David Bowie's soundtrack is still one of the best!
"Cos David Bowie was the freaking best." PREACH!
I love this movie. I have the DVD , so I've lost count how many times I have watched it. I can't imagine anyone but David Bowie for this movie. He was and remains, one of the greats.
loved this man so much so sad he's gone, he'll never be forgotten RIP x o x
I still love this movie. Bless David Bowie
Fairly good but you missed:
1. This was a concept Terry Jones and Brian Froud had for a sequel to Time Bandits which then morphed into 'Labyrinth'2. John Lasseter directed the CGI owl sequence.3. There's Darth Vader, a stormtrooper and a gamorrean guard reflected in the armour of the goblins.
Oh god...I knew _all_ of these. I never know all of these. I'm in too deep, man. I'm in this fandom _too goddamn deep_ .
join the club...i watched it for the first time two weeks ago and im freaking hooked
4:51 woman with the orange top is Gates McFadden - or Cherry McFadden as she went by back then - in the 90s people knew her a Dr. Beverley Crusher on ST:TNG
I still remember this movie and it’s been more than 10 years now. This will forever remain in my heart. Thank you, David.
RIP David Bowie. Labyrinth is a masterpiece. Nobody else could have done better.
I'm still obsessed with this film I love it ngl I watch is over 100 a year I'm not joking (probably more) it's an obsession
time for a "Dark Chrystal" episode !!!!!
I cackled so hard when you made the joke about Bowie's pants. You get us!
How'd you leave out that Gates McFadden was one of the choreographers?!?
+Joe Cwik
I know right? I watched the special features, and said to my wife, "Damn, that choreographer looks just like Beverly Crusher! I wonder if they are related or something? ....oh wait?"
blfry Yeah, the Behind the Scenes featurette was amazing for stuff like that.
+Joe Cwik i was going to add this but you beat me to it. I got to meet Gates McFadden at a Trek convention a few years back and asked her how she enjoyed working on Labyrinth. She said it was one of the most enjoyable projects she'd ever done.
+Joe Cwik You're kidding?!
Cleo Green - not kidding. Watch the behind the scenes. It's plain as day.
This movie stills rocks just as much as it did when I was a child
I just saw it for the third time, saw it in the theater at 16 and again in a theater at 51. It's annoying and creepy enough to be iconic. Why does the Goblin King wear thin sweat pants without underwear? There are too many screeching characters that are supposed to be amusing. My ear plugs had to get involved.
THANK GOD IT WAS BOWIE
In October I met Wendy who is the mother of Toby and helped Jim Henson with the making of the movie and created the designs of the goblins, and she signed my Labyrinth picture and we got a picture together. She's friends with my art teacher so she came to school for a day to talk about the set and how she makes the goblins and what it was like working with David ❤
One of my all time favourite movies. Thanks for making me appreciate it even more.
I love the little worm!!! "Come inside meet the Misses!"
Ok i lied i love the whole movie and YES David Bowie Is the freaking BEST!!!!!!!!
I can imagine Michael as the Goblin King😍But at the same time, David rocks the hair
The original Hoggle puppet somehow ended up at the Unclaimed Baggage Museum in Scotsboro, AL. Eventually the Hensen company found out that it had ended up there and allowed the museum to keep it. The museum itself is one smallish room of display cases within the Unclaimed Baggage store. I assume it is still there, I saw it about ten years ago and still think about this often.
This is another hands down must see for every generation. It is a must!!! I had all my foster kids watch this and when my daughter finally arrived she watched it with mama too. And now it is one of all of my kids favorites
Rest in paradise David Bowie
"A fully batshit movie." Wonderfully succinct and accurate description :)
Thanks so much! I have been having a David Bowie You Tube Fest tonight. Damn, it's so sad that he is gone. I had forgotten for a decade or so how amazing he was (not on purpose!)
Really gives you more of an appreciation for this movie seeing how much hard work it took to make.
Some other things people might not know.
1. Brian Henson, Jim Henson’s son, voiced the role of Hoggle and you can see him also operating the character t 7:31.
2. Although it is now considered a cult classic, it was actually a failure at the box office taking less than half it's production cost at the box office. Legend, another fantasy movie from the year before also only took half its production cost at the box office.
3. It was the last movie Jim Henson directed, probably because it was a flop. His previous movie The Dark Crystal was a hit.
4. The Wiseman puppeteer is Frank Oz who also did the voice of that other wise man, YODA in Star Wars.
5. The weird upside down room which is shown in the this video is taken from the most famous work of the artist M. C. Escher entitled Relativity. She has a print of it on her wall in the opening of the film.
I watched legend and labyrinth over and over when I was a kid. Tom cruise and David Bowie :). Man I'm old!!!! Lol
+Heather Taylor Im 31 and i did the same it's the equivalent to kids watching frozen repeatedly now
I so wish Jim Henson got to see that it became a well-loved film before he died. From what I recall, it's because it did poorly that it was his last film. Not that he knew he decided it would be his last but that he took a break from movies because it wasn't a hit.
OH SO THAT'S WHAT THE PAINTING IS CALLED! i knew who made it, but i had no idea that it was named Relativity!!
I have shown a few people of recent times this movie for the first time, all hate it. But as for me and my sister, mom, and aunts, it will always be a tear jerking masterpiece
People who hate this movie don't have the soul or heart for its genius
So far everyone I've shown this movie to don't like it. And then they see it again and they always tell me they've changed their minds.
Alicia Madden Played this movie for my 12 year old daughter a few weeks ago...she left the room after a few minutes refusing to watch.....so disappointed in her 😔😔
When I first showed it to one of my friends we got to just before the Fiery bit and she told me she was bored and didn't want to watch it anymore. She made me turn it off. Now it's one of her favorite movies and we're constantly throwing lines at each other.
To be fair, Sarah is not the most redeemable character in the beginning of the film. I didn't really care for it much when I first watched because I thought she was so overdramatic (and this could in part be because the movie didn't really highlight any of Sarah's backstory save for subtle stuff in the background - stuff I didn't catch until the 2nd and 3rd time around) and kind of spoiled.
Maybe it has to do with when they watch it? My friend recently watched "Jaws" and "A Christmas Story" and he was just like "Meh". I wonder if they'd liked these classics if they'd seen them when they were younger.
Entertaining voice over! Still one of my all-time fave movies out there
One of my favourite films of my childhood and I still love it to this day great film no one could of pulled this off except david bowie
Who else but Bowie? His looks like an elf for crist sakes! He was perfect!
Brian Froud is one of my favorite artists
A year later and you're still missed, Mr. Bowie.
My then-young daughter introduced me to "Labyrinth" and the music of David Bowie. It has become one of my favorite movies and David Bowie's music has been added to a long list of favorite artists.
He was like a living Yoshitaka Amano painting in this film.
Did you know that Amano and Neil Gaiman collaborated on a reimagining story called the Thin White Duke where he did draw Bowie in 2004?
I made my best friend watch Labrynth and his first comment when it was over was "those were very tight pants"
One of my favorite movies growing up I love David Bowie in it he was a very talented man
David and Jennifer are both so beautiful in this movie. I love Labyrinth ❤ I still miss Bowie ⚡️😔
I'm sorry but with all do respect, I gotta admit how fucking turned on I was when I first saw Labyrinth and noticed Bowie's HUGE balls, and I'm not talking about the clear ones😂
Yes, the complete Bowie package Mildred. And how lucky was that dude with the clear balls to be that close to Bowie's arse?????
Yes, based on what I've heard, seeing Bowie as Jareth in this movie caused the sexual awakening of countless girls (and also boys, I'm sure!).
Mildred Escoto I find it sexy........
Jesse Bowman And there's nothing wrong with men and women having a healthy sexual life! I'd rather be a whore than believe I'm only worth as much as a human made concept like virginity!
veralidaine97 What do you call fucking 15 year old girls and boys and younger? :p Fucking idiot, you don't know shit. Most celebrities are pedophiles. Especially drugged up Pop Rock Stars.
This is just 'the making of the labyrinth 'word for word
Oh man, I watched this movie so many times. These background secrets just made it all the better
One of my favorite childhood movies. Thanks for doing a video on it.
David bowie was perfect for his part he's got the style and he's got that attitude
This is literally all stuff you can learn from watching the first 10 minutes of the "making of" documentary.
Amazing great video! I don't know how I missed it when it first came out but I'm watching now!
Lol man...the commentary is informative and hysterical. Top marks for a great video.
My art teacher knows the baby and his parents.
Alex Swanson awesome!!!!!!!!
@C J his therapy was to follow in his father's footsteps and become a master puppeteer
I read a theory about Labyrinth. Jared was obviously so very in love with Sarah that he stole her brother just so she would go find him and hopefully fall in love with him.
Well, this theory said that the original Sarah didn't fall in love with Jarad so every year (or whatever) there would be a new Sarah, a Sarah who would say the words that would make the Goblin King take her brother away and threaten to turn him into a goblin if she didn't solve the labyrinth... Each time a Sarah did this she would lose her battle to save her brother and he would become a goblin, hence all of the goblins. They are all actually little brothers of previous Sarah's who failed to solve the labyrinth.
This also gives reason for why Hoggle says "oh its you" in such a way that he's quite frankly so damn fed up of seeing Sarah arrive at the gates of the labyrinth... He's seen her so many times before... He's over it!...
I can't explain this theory very well but it's a very good one 😊
Wow! That’s very interesting!
This is...
Actually a really good theory...
Maxien, that's a great plot for a story. You should write it as a fanfic.
This took away all the magic of this movie with my childhood memories! Thanks Jerks!
This was such an amazing tribute. Thank you! You had me rolling with the comment on the rock star with the ridiculous pants...😹😹
