@johndorsey1423 I believe that when people comment this film is underrated, they're saying it doesn't get the attention and absolute love of other QT movies. Which is true. I live in a town where this was filmed. The Delamo mall has been around for decades. But that part of the mall where Melanie gets shot is completely gone. Also, the Billingsley store is actually a Macy’s. They just changed the name for the movie.
"I didn't know you like The Delfonics." "They're pretty good." Lol my favorite exchange in the entire film.. definitely Tarantino's most underrated film..
Quentin Tarantino, before he wrote and directed movies, was an ardent fan and student of cinema who had a soft spot for the 'Blaxploitation' films of the 70's. Many of which, Pam Grier was the star. Tarantino wrote Jackie Brown specifically for Pam Grier as a love letter to her career. I still consider this to be Tarantino's best movie, as it's one of those rare occurrences in cinema where literally everything, the writing, the direction, the soundtrack, the acting and the production all seem to be hitting on all cylinders. There isn't a weak performance by anyone involved. In that respect, it's highly underrated. As time goes by however, I think more and more people are beginning to appreciate it as well as recognize it as among Tarantino's best work. Great response Asia and BJ!
YES!!! So following up Pulp Fiction was darn near impossible and I remember walking out of the theater liking the movie alot ... but it was no Pulp Fiction. Over the years however... I find that I actually enjoy JACKIE BROWN probably more than anything else he's done. There's just something about it. The script is PERFECT but I'd expect nothing less.... I think it's the cast... specifically Pan Grier. Ultimately this one definitely became my favorite because of how rewatchable it is.
This is an adaptation of Rum Punch by Elmore Leonard. Actors love to be in movies based on Elmore Leonard books because he is the master of character development. Get Shorty is another really good one
I love this movie! Jackie Brown is my hero! Did you notice that this movie avoided graphic violence...it was suggested, but really no blood baths like most Tantino movies?
You need to watch "Out of Sight" next. It stars George Clooney and Jennifer Lopez, and it's the same universe as Jackie Brown. Michael Keaton actually plays the same character in it & it's a great movie 👍😎
Out Of Sight (1998) is another great one to react to. Jennifer Lopez & George Clooney. Also, Michael Keaton has a small role where he plays the same character he does in Jackie Brown.
22:34 Don't know if you missed it, but right here, Melanie flirts with Louis; he flinches and she calls him "Chicken"....Watch his face. She pissed him off BIG time right there.
Depending on the day, this is either my #1, 2 or 3 favorite Tarantino film. Thank you so much for watching it even though it is not as well known as other Tarantino flicks.
Samuel L. Jackson was a cop in a buddy cop spoof called "National Lampoon's Loaded Weapon 1" (1993). He was basically playing Danny Glover's character from "Lethal Weapon", but in an obviously more comedic fashion. It was an odd role for him, but he was as good at it as any role he's done.
Jackie Brown is particularly special to me because I used to walk across the street every day after middle school and hang out there. Any other Southern California folk remember Aladdin's Castle Arcade at Del Amo Mall in the way back when?
another great Tarratino classic you should watch is Four Rooms.. It is a 4 story anthology with half of it directed by Tarrantino and he rest Robert Rodriguez I think but it has an amazing cast and rarely ever talked about..
WOWWWW, YOU GUYS GOT TO THIS, NIIIICCCE!💯😊 THIS IS ONE OF THOSE GREATS THAT KEEPS YOU INVOLVED THROUGHOUT ASIA AND BJ, AWESOME FILM WITH A SUPER CAST! 😊
You two are some of the funniest people out here on UA-cam lmao. Great reaction - and looking forward to Halloween season cause I know that means more hands in front of the face content!
If no one’s mentioned it yet, there are 2 Breaking Bad actors in this movie - Robert Forester (?) was the vacuum cleaner “disappearer”, and Michael Keaton’s ATF sidekick was Uncle Jack
This was being produced around the same time as another Elmore Leonard novel was being filmed, OUT OF SIGHT. Michael Keaton played FBI Agent Ray Nicolette in both films. SLJ had a cameo in it as well, although both are uncredited. Decent film, worth a watch. And this is by far my favorite Tarantino flick. I love me some QT, but he has never again captured the pure magic that Pam Grier brought to this film.
Love this movie. One of my favorites by any director. Of course I love all of Tarantino's movies. Y'all should watch the Martin Scorsese movie "After Hours". It's a unique and overlooked movie by him.
Enjoyed watching y’all react to Jackie Brown! I forgot about Chris Tucker’s scenes 😱 Well, he did help John in Die Hard 3 😂 Did y’all recognize Max? He played the character Ed Galbraith as the vacuum sales and repair guy that help Walter and Saul “disappear”. He brought Walter out to New Hampshire.
Fun fact: ( in case no one mentioned it yet) The song being played when Jackie is walking into county jail is called " Long time woman" and sung by Pam Grier aka Jackie Brown
Great reaction to a great movie! Pam Grier is such a classic beauty, and such a class act in real life too I just love her! Max Cherry’s character is so great, did you recognize him as the guy from Breaking Bad who ran the vacuum shop?? Samuel L Jackson was a good guy in Die Hard III lol. And if you really want to see him in a harsh character, you guys gotta watch Unthinkable, it’s hard to watch but it’s a good movie overall… he’s technically a good guy you know because he’s on our side, a good guy who does terrible things for his country.

There isn't a weak performance by anyone involved. In that respect, it's highly underrated. As time goes by however, I think more and more people are beginning to appreciate it as well as recognize it as among Tarantino's best work. Great response Asia and BJ!
I've loved Pam Grier since I was a kid, and when I first found your channel I felt Asia reminded me a lot of Pam....💗
This is probably my favorite Tarantino movie. Idk why. i just love everything, the music, the actors, the vibe, the characters especially Max Cherry
This is an adaptation of Rum Punch by Elmore Leonard. Actors love to be in movies based on Elmore Leonard books because he is the master of character development. Get Shorty is another really good one
Im sure you realize the bail bond guy was in Breaking Bad at the end giving people new identities. He passed away a few years ago
Thank You! As many times I've requested Jackie Brown from so many people, my favorite two come through! ❤ both of ya
Awesome! We need more reactions to this movie! Shout out to you both!
Easily my favourite film by the director the fact the captain from the Black Hole is in it, well that’s just a massive bonus.
Aw man, this soundtrack!! 7:50 The Brothers Johnson doing "Strawberry Letter 23" 🎶 on his car radio!!!
I watch this film every year and never get bored. My favourite QT film.
Got my Jackie Brown poster on the wall to this very day! Pam was SMOKIN’ HOT 🥵🔥💯
BJ cracking we up dropping the " Normandie and Westin line" 😂 🙌
Depending on the day, this is either my #1, 2 or 3 favorite Tarantino film. Thank you so much for watching it even though it is not as well known as other Tarantino flicks.
My favourite Tarantino movie. Everybody was great and the music was sweet.
One of my favorite movies and one of Qs best. Mature, well developed characters- heart felt story of survival.
This movie is extremely underrated. It's so cool Tarantino did a movie like this. Thanks for watching,
A couple of other great movies that came out that year are L.A. Confidential and Boogie Nights.
His best & most human film, amazing casting, especially Pam Greer & the bail bondsman.
I always say “Aye it’s going down like Jackie Brown!” 😂😂
another great Tarratino classic you should watch is Four Rooms..
Delamo is a mall in Pasadena, California ❤ Samuel was a good guy in Snakes On A Plane, and he still had great lines in that! A must see movie!
Del Amo Mall is in Torrance. Between LAX, Inglewood and Norf Long Beach. Ordell ain’t going up to Pasadena
You two are some of the funniest people out here on UA-cam lmao. Great reaction - and looking forward to Halloween season cause I know that means more hands in front of the face content!
Michael Keaton plays the same character, Ray Nicolette, in both this and Out of Sight. Both movies are based on Elmore Leonard novels.
This is one of my most favorite movies. I’ve seen this movie, easily, over ten times.
DAAANG, FINALLY someone reacts to Jackie Brown! Thank You!
Tarantino and Grier made this an indirect "spiritual" sequel to _Foxy Brown._
Love this movie. One of my favorites by any director. Of course I love all of Tarantino's movies.
Y'all should watch the Martin Scorsese movie "After Hours". It's a unique and overlooked movie by him.
Michael Keaton on screen
Asia: "IS THAT BATMAN?!?"
Me: 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
His soundtracks are always great. Strawberry Letter 23 I bought on 12" back in the day.
Enjoyed watching y’all react to Jackie Brown! I forgot about Chris Tucker’s scenes 😱
Well, he did help John in Die Hard 3 😂
Did y’all recognize Max? He played the character Ed Galbraith as the vacuum sales and repair guy that help Walter and Saul “disappear”. He brought Walter out to New Hampshire.
Fun fact: ( in case no one mentioned it yet) The song being played when Jackie is walking into county jail is called " Long time woman" and sung by Pam Grier aka Jackie Brown
There's a few you missed, where Samuel is the good guy.
"Do the right thing. " "Black Snake Moan." is quite strange, but interesting.
Micheal Keaton plays the same character again in Out of Sight. Both movies based on Elmore Leonard novels.
