Thank you, Michael, for unearthing this magical gem of a bravura performance by Rex Smith and Marilyn McCoo, who made a dynamic duo as co-hosts of the 1982-1983 season of "Solid Gold". The Michael Jackson song "Beat It" I have not ever seen performed as a duet. They really jazzed it up and made it uptempo. Obviously, I missed that episode from July 2, 1983. Rex and Marilyn did a lot of great duets on the show. They had a musical director who was the best in the business, yourself. You had a knack for bringing out the best in every singer in every arrangement, solo or duet or group. It was an energetic performance that pays homage to the original by the gone-too-soon Michael Jackson. These are as if they are from a time machine and you are like a musical archaeologist finding these old gems. The clarity of the videotape and the sound is remarkable considering it is from 41 years ago and had been originally still in monoaural sound. I sincerely hope that "Solid Gold" eventually gets a box-set full ssries DVD release eventually. These are such outstanding performances. Thank you for the upload. The energy appeared to be in high gear for that performance.

@bigeyezzzzzzz You are welcome for that. It was nice to see a stage full of singers and musicians on "Solid Gold". That song was all over the place in late 1982 and throughout 1983 and by 1984, Weird Al Yankovic had his parody of "Eat It" performed by himself on a "Solid Gold" episode.😂
