Marilyn McCoo is extraordinary! Loved seeing her on Solid Gold and following her career.

The interwoven medleys that you would select for performances such as these were unmatched anywhere else on television and still are. The presentation of Paul Williams and Marilyn McCoo together was pure musical gold. By way of the date of December 5, 1981, that would be the second season and the first for Marilyn on the show.
I have to admit that I first found out about Marilyn McCoo through "Solid Gold", then many years later, in 1991, made the connection that she had been part of The Fifth Dimension upon the purchase of the audiocassette of their "Greatest Hits On Earth" album from 1972.
That I had an initial introduction to Marilyn McCoo through "Solid Gokd" was more likely because "Solid Gold" was geared to my age demographics and I had been born during the latter part of their Fifth Dimension era. Marilyn McCoo had been in two bands before The Fifth Dimension, The Hi Fis and The Versatiles. She has had considerable versatility in her ability to sing so many musical genres. "Solid Gold" was fortunate to have all their singing co-hosts and singing hosts and on the female side, was very fortunate to have both Marilyn McCoo and Dionne Warwick to have graced the "Solid Gold" stage. Thanks, Michael, for being the musical guiding force behind "Solid Gold" and for the upload that evoles wistful nostalgia.

Beautifully arranged. Interesting to put One Less Bell as a counter-melody to Loneliness. What gave you that idea? It works so well! But maybe it works because of outstanding arranging. And that was down to you.
Marilyn McCoo also looks even more stunning than usual.

Thank you for your very nice message. When arranging duets for our hosts and cohosts, I always tried to interweave their respective hits, and the one with Marilyn & Paul is one of those examples that I felt worked quite well. Another one that I always was rather proud of was this one with Dionne Warwick and Lionel Richie…

And also this one with Dionne and Air Supply…

And this one with Dionne and Neil Sedaka (although the audio quality isn’t great)…

@@bigeyezzzzzzz Thanks so much for introducing me to these. I can certainly see why you were proud of the Warwick-Richie duet! It is so seamless you make it look easy. Great also to see Warwick and Richie in their prime singing together. A fantastic moment.

Thanks so much for all of your positivity for the music that we, of Solid Gold, made so many moons ago. And I’m glad you especially enjoyed my duet for Dionne and Lionel Richie. To me, it seems like only yesterday when I was in his hotel room rehearsing his part with him, and then rehearsing both of them together in Dionne‘s dressing room backstage. They were the true magicians of the magical performance that aired because they took my mere notes and spun them into gold!

@bigeyezzzzzzz They sure did. True professionals, all of them, all of you at "Solid Gold". You have probably introduced more people, Michael, to these complex interwoven medleys than anyone else In the industry.
