    I'm more concerned about the Infinite forest. The Witness could realistically use it and his knowledge of paracausal powers to improve the forests capabilities and possibly be able to predict Guardians.

      Even if it's open, the reason the infinite forest was potentially able to predict us was Peneoptes. He's gone. Currently the Ved don't have a mind powerful enough to fully utilize the forest. Obviously they could introduce another uber powerful Vex out of nowhere but that isn't likely since we don't have any foreshadows of one.

      @@williameldridge9382 the vex have shown that given infinite time they can actually simulate paracausality, so far in 2 occasions, panoptes the mind that controlled the initiative forest could do it on a macro level and was working to plot the galaxy down a path that would end with the destruction of light and darkness and on a personal level when they created a mind that’s sole purpose was to simulate saint 14 and in the process strip him of his light in the crusade he took into the infinite forest
      So paracausality doesn’t expressly prevent prediction it’s just a bitch to do and if the vex, non paracuasal beings,can do it given time I bet the witness could do it as well

    From what I understand, larger stars typically begin their death throes as they begin to fuse lighter elements into Iron. This quickly spirals out of control as the energy released from this fusion is not enough to support the massive pressure being exerted by gravity, as the star eventually collapses, and then explodes.
    The Vex have essentially managed to exploit this heavy fusion, and keep the star 'afloat' while also siphoning energy and raw materials directly from its core. That Forge Star is insane.

    • @allentayoto7387
      @allentayoto7387 2 роки тому +17

      To be precise, there's some form of equilibrium between the sun's energy and the gravitational force squishing it. But fusion reaction eats through the supply of lighter elements available until iron is created, which is an element that can't be used for fusion reaction anymore. As the star begins to run out of fuel to produce enough energy to push against gravity, that's when it begins to die.

    • @xXx_Regulus_xXx
      @xXx_Regulus_xXx 2 роки тому +9

      they're probably using a technique called starlifting, where you use powerful magnets to basically squeeze the star. that siphons off a small amount of its matter each time, which you can then harvest, and making the star smaller and keeping it from getting to the red giant stage keeps it alive longer.

      Say that in the final shape, the Traveler and the Witness waste each other or something. Maybe light and darkness are still elementary forces in the universe, but the entities are absent, idk. But pretending that's the case, I would say the Vex are an enemy far greater than the Hive, Cabal, Fallen, Scorn, and any remaining Taken combined. I honestly think that us having paracausality would be the only thing that actually makes the playing field level against them.
      They can teleport (though so can the hive with dark magics), see into time, build and modify worlds in hours, and probably have a huge legion in reserve/production. The Vex are the "vex milk" covering the area beneath the forge star, and all they need is a chassis to inhabit, which can be quickly manufactured too. I'm surprised they haven't just made regular assaults on the Last City in numbers far greater than the Battle of Twilight Gap.

If the Awoken moved all these huge volatile weapons into the singularity, they could destroy the Dreadnaught to obliterate everything inside. I'm gonna bring this argument up again. Though the scaling on these things is poorly described and quite inconsistent, the Dreadnaught would seem to be considerably larger than the Leviathan. The Leviathan appears to roughly the size of Nessus, which has a diameter of 60km. Orbiting the moon, it isn't visible from Earth. The Dreadnaught can be seen clearly from Titan, among Saturn's rings with a diameter estimated to be around 300 000km. While it's small compared to them, it is far from a speck among them, which an object 60km in size would be, if visible at all.
    Despite the scaling inconsistencies, the largest depiction of the Leviathan still seems smaller than the smallest depiction of the Dreadnaught.

  • @nightgirlgaming1985
    @nightgirlgaming1985 2 роки тому +7

    The Leviathan is around 200km in length, nothing near the size of the Dreadnaught. If you compare it to the width of the rings of Saturn it could be several thousands of kilometers in length, making it the biggest ship we have seen so far.

    Couple of points... First The Witness has access to the Infinite Forest on Mercury. That probably gave him all the insight he needed on the Vex and their prediction engines.
    Second someone measured the Dreadnaught and it is MUCH LARGER than the Leviathan. There is a video on this but the Dreadnaught is roughly 3400 to 3500 km in length. That is almost out Moons diameter... Saturn is a gas giant so it doesn't look too big next to it but park that near Earth and it's sheer presence could do some damage. If you wonder how they found the size one way was to measure a known asteroid that slams into it since we know the size of it...

    The Distributory has been near the top of this list for me since ... awhile. Riven's presence and her machinations were very much an attempt at taking the Distributory from the Awoken. Literally in multiple definitions of the word Take. If the continued presence of the Scorn AND Xivu Arath's forces are any indication, Servants of the Witness are very much still in a position to take this asset. Control the Dreaming City, control the entrance to the Distributory. If the remaining hidden awoken are as powerful as both hoped and feared it's possible they could stand up directly to the Witness directly, but the possibility remains that IT could twist them into acting on their isolationism against us. I contest that this is very much an actively contested asset. I suppose a factor in how critical this is depends on Xivu Arath's reaction to the Witness's deception towards to the Hive for one. In that case, I don't recall enough lore about her to really judge how the Hive God of War would react. If anything I kinda hope she doubles down and stays loyal, because then she'll be a predictable variable. If she goes wild card and turns against The Witness, that doesn't necessarily mean she'll be friendly to Us. While An enemy's enemies can sometimes become friends(and something we should hope for), sometimes the enemy of my enemy is my enemy's enemy. No more. No less. (Bonus Points if you get that reference!) But given how recently the Distributory has been in the zeitgeist by virtue of the Season of the Lost, I doubt we'll be going back to deal with that problem so soon. Bungie dragged back a raid environment for use in the Season of the Haunted. We're probably due for something Dreadful. And Naughty. ... I mean Noughty. Then again two big ass ships in a row is probably not likely. So what do we get instead before that?

    I think a lot of anti-Traveler sentiment related to "it gave Savathun the Light!" is missing a number of notable lore points surrounding Ghosts and how Guardians are actually chosen. The process is - in some ways - still one of the mysteries, but we've got several good sources at this point that indicate that while Ghosts are connected to the Traveler, they aren't the Traveler.
    The history of the Warlords of Earth in the Dark Age shows how people who were probably not worthy were resurrected (like, perhaps, Savathun). More to the point, we have testimony from a Ghost that specifically says Ghosts come from the Traveler with an idea or a type of person that they're looking for. Someone smart, or strong, or merciless, or brave, or cunning.
    Immaru is a jerk. But he didn't necessarily bring Savathun back because the Traveler has been plotting to betray us this entire time. It was simply that Savathun had cunning and wisdom and power, and that's what Immaru was looking for in a Guardian. That's why Savathun was resurrected. The other Hive who became Guardians met the requirements of their Ghosts - as Fynch said, it was just that Immaru broke the taboo.

      Type 2 Civilization: a civilization that has harnessed the power of its local star. Think of if humanity was able to harness the power of the sun.

    Theory: The next season will be Xivu Arath focused, with the Dreadnaught coming back as a new minidestination (like the Derilect Laviathan). This would also make sense for the possible story of Xivu Arath trying to claim Oryx's power and the Dreadnaught to become the Hive disciple to the the Witness, and possibly to attack the Last City along with the Pyramid Fleet in Lightfall. This would also make sense, since either King's Fall or Wrath of the Machine is coming back next season. Need I remind you, one of the 4 Truths/Lies in the Reflection was that "The Taken King will rise again." Both the fact that we have not yet fought Xivu Arath(we kind of need to before Lightfall), as well as the fact that the Dreadnaught needs to come back for King's Fall, lend credence to the idea of a Xivu Arath/Dreadnaught focused season.
    TLDR:
    A Xive Arath focused season where she attempts to take back the Dreadnaught and use its power in Lightfall to help the Witness assault the City.

      What if Xivu used the dreadnought as a sorta ritual site to summon herself into our system. We know she's like galaxies upon galaxies away and she's been summoned into systems before for example torbotal. it'd be cool if the season was us attempting to stop the ritual through war and end up actually completing the ritual, by us fighting the hive and trying to stop her summoning we caused war and we were the ones to summon her.
      Hammers home the idea that, we can't out war the God of War.

    Gotta say, big fan of videos like this. I feel like it really helps to brush up on lore that might not be realivant now, but is good to have in the back of your mind if and when it starts to become relevant again. Would definitly like to see more of these every now and then. Keep up the great work, I love watching your videos

    The vex are still a wild card in the story, as they are ultimately opposed to both the forces of light and dark.
    Who knows how many vaults of glass or machine planets they have at their disposal, they've never cared to go all out no matter how many installations in the sol system we have rendered unusable for them.
    I don't doubt that they will be the major antagonist at some point in Destiny again, likely as a post-witness enemy once the guardian has mastered both the light and the dark, and the vex are their natural enemy.

    I'd be very interested in the Sanguine Awoken thread. Narratively speaking, I could see that being played out in a season in the next expansion. However, I want (and need) more Vex content. Other than that, the Nine will probably reappear soon so going to keep an eye open for that.
    On another note, the audio setup is fantastic!

    I hadn’t really thought about it, but bringing the dreadnaught back as a location would be a really interesting story element to match bringing back taken king raid next season. We haven’t heard from Xivu in awhile and it’d be a great time to talk about her and her relationship to the witness, I could see her attempting to take up oryx’s taken mantle and becoming a disciple of the witness potentially. And for the season afterwards I want us to go back to Europa and deal with Clovis and the vex gate, which should absolutely be the basis of our next dungeon btw.
    Sound note: I can’t pin down exactly what it is, but something sounded off. I think the high range sounded better than normal and the bass sounded off.. might not be right there, and maybe its just getting used to a new sound!

    One thing I've noticed since the audio method swap is that lines in lore readings will sometimes be read twice. I understand it's a thing of stitching together multiple takes, but it's funny when you're expecting the reading to continue and it restarts at the previous sentence

    The way I see it with the traveler is that it did not seem like it intended to betray us in any way. It simply is trying to build up the armies of light against the witness and the hive were an easy target as they were once offered the light before.
