Drifter, in the grandest of irony, knows this and has known this (that at least Spider would stab us in the back the first chance he got, I think he leaked the info on the shipment to House Salvation), hence why he got Spider to surrender his men and goods for safe passage, it would ensures he cannot do any lasting damage (since without a Ketch or a Crew he has very little ability to much more than steal). Doubt it, no way Spider is dumb enough to think Eramis will win where all the other fallen failed, not to mention even if she does win, serving the Witness doesn't sound good for business since it'll achieve the final shape which means he's doomed.
Oh. Didn't know that spider put a bomb in Glint. I thought Crow was being Spiders lackey so he wouldn't feel bad if Spider started calling him out for abandoning him even though Spider got Crow refuge or whatever...Guess not.
If it’s any consolation, her exact orders were to remove Spider and his loyalists from the reef, and she has exactly that anyway. And whether she likes it or not he is now nestled in the last city. If Crow wants payback from the Spider he can get it himself now, especially since Spider works with us and owes us favors, Crow being one of us, technically means Spider owes him favors and Spider will do well to oblige. And so will Mara.
@@Wulfspyder let Spider’s shenanigans do Mara’s dirty work for her. But all the same, Spider is useful as he is. And with his associates, House of Light now has some fighters. It will be great to see his vandals and servitors fight along side us along with Caiatl’s legionaries.
"Permanently" is the operative part of that order and Mara isn't one to accept half measures or consolations. Spider is the cherry on top of much larger just desserts. We know how patient Mara is, I think it's a matter of when not if.
I think Mara smiles as Spider is effectively put into a glass jar. While not dead, he's safely in the palms of Mara. I assume a mix of: 1. Close to the City where Mara can easily place her Awoken in if necessary, and I think she to an extent can use Awoken Lightkin as surviellance cameras. 2. Spider needs to gain favour with the Vanguard, for his own sake. He's a spider without his web. 3. Spider's fall from "grace". While he is still influential, he is not in his Reef. This is akin to finding a disgraced politician serving you McDonalds.
That definitely explains why Spider is so keen on claiming the power of the relics. For him, it's not just a matter of power, but it's also a reassurance that if Mara Sov comes to collect him he would at least have a chance of defending himself from her wrath.

The Awoken and Hunter guardians have... Conflicting opinions on the Spiders visit to the city, and proximity to Crow. Needless to say, several fights have broken out about "Crow's safety" versus "Required Sacrifices" and absolutely nobody dares to ask what Leadership thinks.
Spider would be a very valuable asset to have in the city. Just his information alone on the underworld (so to speak) of the Destiny universe is currency enough for him to stay in Eliksni district of the Last City.
Spider for me reminds me too much of Krew from Naughty Dog's Jak Series. There Krew sold out Haven City (one of the last known cities that hasn't been destroyed) to the Metal Heads in Jak 2's 3rd act. I could see Spider selling us out to Eramis. We know that the Spider wants those darkness artifacts for his own purposes. Which pissed off Misraaks.
If Mara wants spider no one and i mean no one would be able to stop her she would shred him and everyone would be powerless against her but Mara always knows something that no one else does she always two steps ahead there must be a reason he is alive
Wow they definitely seem to be much more in command of this story , setting up plot points subtlety where people might not even see it and then making it a focal point for a season , pretty good stuff
Between this and the law being laid down on him by Misraaks, I suspect Spider is feeling the least secure he's been in a very long time. But this means that he's going to be working very hard to regain the position he feels he's entitled to. This actually makes the situation a lot more volatile than everyone, except maybe Drifter, suspects. I can't see Spider taking the humiliations laid down on him by Drifter and Misraaks lying down.
It’s weird seeing Byf play as a Titan. I’m pretty sure he’s a Warlock main. It just feels more appropriate, as Warlocks are wise, knowledgeable scholars, and Byf fits that description; being a loremaster in the community.
I wonder sometimes if some of these conversations between characters are born from conversations between writers on the writing team, trying to justify their reasoning for story and/ or character direction
Hey Byf, I got a question/topic about ghosts for you if you have any info on it. 2 actually. First, we know ghosts came from the traveler when it "died" the first time, but guardians would continue to be found many years afterwords. Did these ghosts take that long to find a suitable guardian, were they inherited from other dead guardians (though I would think the ghost would just res the first guardian), or did the traveler continue to spew ghosts long after the first burst? Second, about the ghosts of the warlords. Did the ghosts never try to speak against their misuse of power or rebel? I have never even heard of a warlord interacting with or being attached to any ghost. I would think the ghosts personality would possibly prevent it from helping or reviving the warlord but also why would a ghost ever pick someone who would become a warlord in the first place?
1: so far all lore we seen indicates that all ghosts where created at that one single point and none more are made, so yeah for some ghost the hunt for there intended lightbearer has been a long one. 2: Here one must understand two things, one while given the same, broad goal each ghost is a individual with there own interpretation of what there purpose is and what the purpose is of lightbearers. Two is that no ghost trully knows why the Traveller created them, they have there baseline, instinct like programming to hunt for a person to resurrect, but it's not like they where given a clear it, direct order from the Traveller. These two factors combined is why some ghost not only revived those that would become warlords but in some cases actively supported there action, whether out of some personal "they're my lightbearer, right or wrong" mentality or perhaps blind faith that these individuals where somehow part of the Travellers plan.
A mini rant here on Ikora: I don't see how she saw the outrage the civilian population had over bringing House Light into the City as unjustified but having the Spider in the City would be. Seems pretty hypocritical to me.
I think it’s more to do with that almost all Eliksni in house light haven’t done anything wrong against humanity and the last city. They are just civilians trying to survive, they haven’t attacked others. While spider is, well spider. He isn’t necessarily the best person so it’d be completely valid for people to get angry over him being in the city now
@@elixirlite9447 Except that people in the Last City were practically taught to fear the Fallen. Parents would tell tales of House Devils to frighten children into behaving. While I admit that it is wrong to put all that pain and hatred on those who shouldn't be guilty of the crimes committed by others, I do feel like all that was justifiable. Given that it was a decision made entirely by Ikora alone, without involving the civilian representatives to discuss it.
@@elitegamer9310 oh yeah absolutely however it’d when it comes to the fact that they are putting these thoughts and fears and placing them onto the house of light. They are clumping eliksni of house light with those of the stories they’ve been told, they aren’t judging them before knowing about them and seeing that they are in fact different and not blood thirsty baby eaters. And they should at least try since us Guardians are to the eliksni as the eliksni are to the people of the last city yet house light were able to put that aside and trust us enough to come to the last city, when they too could react the same way if they wanted.
So hello everyone! And hello byf. We tend to miss alot of lore pieces and here's a missed one. In the Cayde 6 lore, you know, the minds behind the deepstone crypt one, Well calus says that he wants us on his side with the thread of the universe at our side. WOW! and now we have STRAND?! OMFG GUYS! BYF?! JUST WOW
Man the amount of my friends who are on the fuck crow boat hurts tbh, considering on how lighthearted cayde was with the audio logs he left for whoever killed him
"Hey... remember that giant armada of pyramid shaped ships that pretty much vanished half the system in no time at all? The very same armada that absolutely crushed the Golden Age with all it's technology and the Traveler's guidance to boot?" "You mean the one where there was such a sense of urgency in the face of near total annihilation?" "Yeah! That's it!" "No, I don't remember anything about it." "Yeah, me neither."
I happen to think that old spider could have quite the opportunity in the city. With that generous donation he made to the house of light's cultural antiquities collection he sure made a positive impression. A businessman with a shady reputation sure, but he had to operate out on the reef and you know how the reef is. Even out there, having to operate like one has to to survive out there, he made partners with the awoken and even the big hero of the city themselves! Now, in the city, he is ready to recalibrate his operations and be a partner to the other organizations of the city! Ready to find a place for himself. Right in the power vacuum left by the departed factions...if only he had a bit more sense to make these right moves and public facing attitude adjustments. He's bartering with Drifter and us when he should be...partnering, haha...with Zavala.
Spider is in the perfect position for either a redemption arc, or a double cross. I think it would be possible for Spider to sacrifice himself for the last city/house of light and prove to Mithraks that he’s changed. On the other hand, he could be working with Erasmis, someone said that the transmission spikes that are screwing with the Spider engrams could be him sending transmissions to Eramis as a kind of double agent.
I love you Byf but I think this is the first video in awhile that I've watched that hasn't had some sort of ad or other talking point for the first 3 minutes of the video before the lore talk happened.
I think spider is more scared of mithrax at the moment with this week's seasonal story Either he says or does something that'll force mithrax or even our hand maybe with the relics we're looking for or mara will find him and send petra or maybe even crow might be the one to eliminate him as maybe payback for hurting glint and using him as an invincible errand boy
Tbh Mara can go kick rocks. If someone barged into my house, kicked me out, then kicked me out of my neighbor’s house when I asked for help, and left me in some dingy apartment, then yeah, I wouldn’t be very kind or hospitable when I find out they’ve suddenly lost all their memories. Sure spider did put a bomb in glint’s shell, but he backed out as soon as he owed us a favor. No further attempts to get back at Crow, nothing. Spider is certainly not the good guy, he’s a literal crime boss, but I think Mara wanting Spider dead is just another thing to add to the list of self important “holier than thou” bs Mara does.
Hmmmmn, I think Baron Spider's fate is to serve The Vanguard as penance. Mara will not be pleased, but our Queen is ever pragmatic when it comes to the long term and the cultivation of allies.
Earlier in the game you could overhear Zavala on coms talking likely to Petra saying that the Vanguard isn't interested in getting involved in reef politics and they can do with Spider as they saw fit. Now that Spider is in the city things have shifted a bit. I wonder how that conversation will sit with Petra and Mara, now that he has changed his mind.
Byf's american accent is getting bit better. I actually heard some western tang in the Drifter parts. Also the spider smuggle box is more than likely based on Carlos Ghosn. The Nissan CEO that was smuggled out of Japan a few years ago in a box.
@19:40 speaking of I would love to see good eliksni in city made armor that are fighting in the field during lightfall or final shape. Like imagine a group of captians in a fireteam with us going on a tatic strike to take out a high vaul target. Could give a real spartans and odsts go behind enemy lines togther to go do a objective.maybe in a splicer siva themed season where we gp to assisinate some house salvation splicers
I do hope that there is a moment in the Destiny 2 campaign cutscene where Crow saves Mara Sov and the Awoken from the Witness or Calus' forces, stating something in the lines of: "My name is Uldren Sov aka the Crow - prince of the Awoken, brother of Mara Sov, guardian of the Traveler. If you lay a hand on any of those I hold dear, I promise you it won't be pretty." Bonus points if they mimicked his actions to that of Cayde-6 during the Forsaken expansion
I think a character we forget about in this back-and-forth is Misraakskel (Mithrax), in the first two weeks he's made it clear that Rakis (Spider) is now under his protection and a part of House Light. However, Misraaks (and Rakis) both were Wolves, and owed loyalty to the queen for a time, and also his friendship with Sjur Eido and the queen by extension. He holds the largest conflict of interest, protecting his house or honoring his ties with the Awoken.
Ties that were severed long ago during the events of house of wolves, as far as I'm concerned misraaks' only concern is protecting house light and those who live under it's banner
This is the way I see spiders situation right now, as Zavala said, he is a necessary liaison between cultures and can provide insight into Fallen strategy. However as time progresses, he may become no longer necessary, and Mara is old, very old and patient. Mara will have her revenge.
Zavala: "I've brought him up when I was 'negotiating' with Caiatl, and I'll bring him up here. One. Fucking. Guardian. Has been kicking the collective asses of every enemy he has. He tore through the Scorn the moment your brother killed Cayde, MY friend, and The Spider helped him do so. This maniacal loot-crazed demon sees The Spider as an ally, and free guns. If you truly think you can touch The Spider, remember what Oryx did to you."
Maybe, just maybe Crow will finally be ready to reconnect with Mara and as a part of that process, a chance emerges for Crow to explain to his sister that he's forgiven the Spider for what he's done? It will avoid a diplomatic conflict and reunite the siblings on Crow's terms! Not that I know what Crow's opinion of the Spider is.
The elements are currently in place for the following to happen (though I don't really think Bungie is planning this, but one can daydream): 1 Spider playes double agent between Misraaks and Eremis and gets caught 2 He is under the jurisdiction of Misraaks; who holds a trial 3 He is found guilty and sentenced to death; Misraaks gives us a nod 4 The courtroom instantly switches to a combat zone and our equipped super is conveniently charged 5 I finally get to launch the Nova bomb I have dreamed of ever since the Broodhold strike. Like Mara... I too can hold a grudge. Like I said... I don't think Bungie would do this (I just wish they would). I think Crow will end up asking Mara to spare Spider.
You want to know what's more important then good relations with the Spider? Good relations with Mara Sov. We need the awoken way more then we need the Spider and his crew. #squishthespider
Yeah, but Mara also knows she needs to be in good relations with us, and provoking distrust by expediting Spider from underneath the Vanguard's watch wouldn't help. She also knows that a spider can't change it's stripes. Mara is content to wait for Rakis to scheme himself into a corner, and when he does...
Yeah but as Zavala said he is now an Eliksni seeking asylum so kicking him out or sending him to his death bc of his past would show the the House of light that we don’t view them as Allies
I feel like if Mara gets her hands around spider at a climax in this story thread, either someone or herself is gonna intervene/stop and see how good of use he can or will be
We’re allied with Spider like we are with Variks. He’s a war criminal who hasn’t really been forgiven, that I know of. He did start the prison of elders breakout which lead to Cayde’s death
I don't trust Spider as far as I can throw him, and while he is an intelligent individual, he's also basically a cornered animal with only a thin line of bureaucracy protecting him from a very angry Queen. He could be preparing an ace in the hole with these artifacts to protect himself in case the Vanguard agrees to hand him over to the Awoken, which would not be good for anyone in or near the Eliksni quarter. Honestly, if we could secure the loyalty of his crew, which may not be hard considering we're out there fighting and taking ships with them, I'd say we hand him over. That bastard is a ticking time bomb just by existing.
As of the story right now, Spider appears to be on thin ice, but not in danger. He likely knows what's going on with Mara and Crow, and he'll probably become desperate. I think he will wind up doing something dumb like selling us out, which will remove any safety he has left in the system.
I will fight tooth and nail to protect spider he will always be my favorite fallen who is also a pirate and businessman and just all around great partner to work with

Spinfoil hat on: So far, every time we (the guardian) have accepted an engram from spider, a spike of interference is observed. The scheming portion of my mind has theorized that The Spider might be transmitting packets of data to Eramis in a double cross. *spinfoil hat off*
I have been thinking this too
Doubt it, no way Spider is dumb enough to think Eramis will win where all the other fallen failed, not to mention even if she does win, serving the Witness doesn't sound good for business since it'll achieve the final shape which means he's doomed.
Well, it was just him swapping out junk for good stuff. Oh well
I really love how Queen Mara puts fear in certain characters it just shows her power 😂
I hope to see more interactions between Mara and Crow, it keeps getting more interesting how these characters interact given the past of them.
I realize that Spider is a problematic character but I can’t help but love him. He’s one of my favorite characters in the narrative.
Can't wait for Rasputin to become an exo so that we can put him to work making more warmind cell gear
I can’t help but imagine this
Mara:*slices the dreaming city in half*
Petra:*disturbed*
Petra: *slight eyebrow raise*
3:03 - I don't blame him. Damn right he's a reputable businessman. Got me a Desperado Yesteryear and everything.
Byf, I adore how you simply cannot help but do the Drifter voice.
2:56 that really caught me off guard🤣🤣🤣🤣
If my old hunter was contacted, he would sell him out right away, even offer to set up a transmat point and say "let me get a few hits in first, ok?"
Oh. Didn't know that spider put a bomb in Glint. I thought Crow was being Spiders lackey so he wouldn't feel bad if Spider started calling him out for abandoning him even though Spider got Crow refuge or whatever...Guess not.
I do like the idea of Crow being the one to save Spider, but I also know certain birds that like eating spiders.
Unless Misraaks throws Spider out an air lock first.
@@biohazard724 well she better start learning. Admit it, a lot of us wish we could say this to her.
Besides, remember Oryx?
I think Mara smiles as Spider is effectively put into a glass jar. While not dead, he's safely in the palms of Mara. I assume a mix of:
I'm snitching if she asks me
Drifter is the kind of guy that shows he doesn't like you by eating cheetos very loudly anytime you speak.
That definitely explains why Spider is so keen on claiming the power of the relics. For him, it's not just a matter of power, but it's also a reassurance that if Mara Sov comes to collect him he would at least have a chance of defending himself from her wrath.
And what about those guardians that saw him at the time and had beaten Crow to the point of death? She gonna ignore them?
Their identities are unknown, so...
@@Flamme-Sanabi And if she starts torturing or even perma-killing Guardians, the Vanguard will sanction The Guardian's next bout of warcrimes in the Reef.

Dang I miss those games
Honestly this could start a problem between House of Light and the Reef which is not what we need right now.
With what I think is gonna go down in lightfall it's a good set up. I truly think we lose the last city or at least the traveller here :O
If Mara wants spider no one and i mean no one would be able to stop her she would shred him and everyone would be powerless against her but Mara always knows something that no one else does she always two steps ahead there must be a reason he is alive
She knows where he is and can claim him anytime but I feel she's waiting for him to slip up
Saint-14 “We finally get rid of the moth problem only to let spiders in? What’s the tower coming to.”
I had a good chuckle when I realised Spider was inside that cramped old looking container when I was doing the quest in-game XD
Zavala's only reason should have been "we can evict Spider but you have to tell The Guardian you messed with their loot hookup..."
He gave me green boots. Away with him.
you think spider's been hooking you up with loot?? LOL
"loot hookup" lmao no. Dude's giving me garbage and doing shady stuff on the side, he can go.
I really wish a ship we get hopefully in the future looks like the one we got from the spider, or at least in the same aesthetic
Well there is "death to kells" a ship that looks like a fallen skiff.
A mini rant here on Ikora:
I don't see how she saw the outrage the civilian population had over bringing House Light into the City as unjustified but having the Spider in the City would be.

"You mean the one where there was such a sense of urgency in the face of near total annihilation?"
"Yeah! That's it!"
"No, I don't remember anything about it."
"Yeah, me neither."
I regret not getting the Blacksmith and Chronicler titles. I always think they're so cool.

8:34, when i first heard that, i had to leave the room for a min. i couldn't breathe cuz i was laughing so hard.
Lol spider being saved indirectly by the witness at the moment is hilarious
The drifter is basically Cayde 0.5 at this point
I love you Byf but I think this is the first video in awhile that I've watched that hasn't had some sort of ad or other talking point for the first 3 minutes of the video before the lore talk happened.
Drifter and Spider remind me of Jack and Barbosa a lot this season, it's fitting.
I think spider is more scared of mithrax at the moment with this week's seasonal story
Either he says or does something that'll force mithrax or even our hand maybe with the relics we're looking for or mara will find him and send petra or maybe even crow might be the one to eliminate him as maybe payback for hurting glint and using him as an invincible errand boy
I can see spider going down the road to redemption about as likely as drifter committing himself to the survival and prosperity of the last city
Lets hope Crow forgives him enough to step in the way of his sister.
Byf's american accent is getting bit better. I actually heard some western tang in the Drifter parts. Also the spider smuggle box is more than likely based on Carlos Ghosn. The Nissan CEO that was smuggled out of Japan a few years ago in a box.
We are absolutely going to remind him on how thin the ice he is standing on is.
I just love the karma of spider being duped after that one strike from forsaken
@19:40 speaking of I would love to see good eliksni in city made armor that are fighting in the field during lightfall or final shape. I do hope that there is a moment in the Destiny 2 campaign cutscene where Crow saves Mara Sov and the Awoken from the Witness or Calus' forces, stating something in the lines of:
"My name is Uldren Sov aka the Crow - prince of the Awoken, brother of Mara Sov, guardian of the Traveler. If you lay a hand on any of those I hold dear, I promise you it won't be pretty."
Bonus points if they mimicked his actions to that of Cayde-6 during the Forsaken expansion
Thank you for this... I surely wondered if Mara would be more than bothered by the towers new residents.
The elements are currently in place for the following to happen (though I don't really think Bungie is planning this, but one can daydream):
1 Spider playes double agent between Misraaks and Eremis and gets caught
2 He is under the jurisdiction of Misraaks; who holds a trial
3 He is found guilty and sentenced to death; Misraaks gives us a nod
4 The courtroom instantly switches to a combat zone and our equipped super is conveniently charged
5 I finally get to launch the Nova bomb I have dreamed of ever since the Broodhold strike. Like Mara... I too can hold a grudge.
Like I said... I don't think Bungie would do this (I just wish they would). I think Crow will end up asking Mara to spare Spider.
the flat out "yeah we all know the drifter is a twat enough to exploit spider" delivers was great.
I really hope they don't kill him off, he has some of the most personality out of our current cast.
I choked on my candy when Byf just went "It was the Drifter" hahahaha
Lol u did notice either spider ship container drill almost everything is like tiger stripes pimpin 😂😂😂😂😂 😂
i'd like to note, before knowing Spider is in the cage, the guardian knocks "Shave and a haircut."
I feel like if Mara gets her hands around spider at a climax in this story thread, either someone or herself is gonna intervene/stop and see how good of use he can or will be
Only 2 bots so far that I have seen! Also half way through the vid so far and loving it! Love your content Lore Daddy

I don’t know how much lord we have on Mithrax, but I’d love a video going over his past. I think a lot of people don’t realize how deadly he is
We’re allied with Spider like we are with Variks. He’s a war criminal who hasn’t really been forgiven, that I know of. He did start the prison of elders breakout which lead to Cayde’s death
I can’t be the only one who feels like this season is a big set up for us to lose almost all of our Allies moving towards light fall
