If shorting the switch doesn't fix your issue and the board appears in good shape then your problem is most likely the 3 aluminum electrolytic capacitors next to the battery terminals. Use flush cutters to snip them and resolder replacements.
You are a saint! My parts tester labels the big capacitor as an 0.16 Ohm resistor. Switched it for a random 100 uF Cap I had laying around and wow my Gameboy color tienes on again 😃😃😃

I have to say also that your explaining skills are awesome, you should really do a class or something similar other than youtube videos, you girl are very good! I wish I had someone skilled like you 30 years ago when I started my passion in electronics, but I had to do it in the old and difficult way with books and multimeter as there wasn't anyone here who was interested in these kind of things..eventually I did it over the years, desoldering and soldering old PCB and trying to figure it out how all the components work (the advent of the net was the best thing I could ever imagine at that time, sharing the knowledge is awesome!)!Nice job by the way, sorry for my italianized english and keep up the good work!
Great video! I didn't even think to take the switch apart, just tried spraying IPA in and flicking on and off. Turns out I had a blown fuse on mine. Two two little black components above the DC input
Clean the area woth isopropyl alchohol if theres any residue or corrosion. Get a decent desoldering pump like an engineer ss02. Reflow the joint with a little fresh solder before desoldering
Yeah I have a game boy pocket and the terminals on it fell off because of battery acid and I was trying to find them with out buying a used motherboard for game boy pocket so I had to buy GBC terminals so would the color terminals work on a pocket with a little modification to the slots on the game boy pocket shell so it will fit and use 2 AAA batteries instead of 2 AA batteries

Id clean the power switch 1st to verify its functional and not intermittently switching off. Clean it. Check caps for leaks and that theyre in spec. See if theres any shorts to ground you can find. Make sure your batteries are fresh and that the proper voltage is being received by the gameboy
Hola bueno se que tal vez no me vayan a entender pero tengo un gameboy color igual al de tu video y tambien tiene la falla esa de que no prende total que no se cual sera la falla ya intente lavar la placa con alcohol isopropilico y nada probe muchas baterias y tampoco intente lo de tu video las 2 cosas y obtuve el mismo resultado sigue sin prender alguna otra posible solución?
puede intentar reemplazar los capacitores y posiblemente cambiar el interruptor de encendido. Verifique la energía de los contactos de la batería cuando se enciende siguiendo las huellas
Natalie Marie ya pude hacerlo encender el problema es que necesito ver que hacer para que encienda con las pilas a pesar de que use los polos de las baterias supongo que solo faltara limpiarlos bien

@@hakuzeon498 first try flooding the power switch with IPA and switching on and off several times. Then put batteries back in. If not take apart the switch and clean inside.
Inspect board and clean any corrosion. Short the switch as in the video to eliminate switch as the problem. Check fuses. If still no power and continuity between switch and battery exists then replace the 3 aluminum electrolytic capacitors next to the battery terminals.

What sort of issue is the button having? Intermittent not reading at all? Is there corrosion?
Natalie Marie there was and i used a brush to scrape it off then i used a little bit of solder to thinly tin the contact points and it worked.
