I simply cannot get enough of Ethel Merman singing this duet!!! Her little dance drives me crazy!!!!! More Merman!
Wow! What a time capsule of 1960s pop culture, all wrapped up in one neat little hour-long package! I don't remember ever watching _Hollywood Palace_ as a child (maybe it was on past my bedtime?), but Jimmy Durante, Ethel Merman, and the Lennon Sisters were all mainstays of many different variety shows that I saw growing up, and I love The Grass Roots! Also so much fun to see a very young Rob Reiner pre-Meathead days, and I thought his comedy skit with Larry Bishop was very clever! I enjoyed all the other acts as well -- great show!
Watched this with my Grandmother when parents would go out...Im the only one of my friends to remember it. What a great show, you never knew who would be on! LOVE that the clips include the original commercials!!!
What a great mingling of very different generations of talent!
Loved the Grass Roots.....many hits.....
Wie gut das Lied 'Yesterday' zu Jimmy Durante gepasst hat. Er hat dieser bravourösen Beatles Hymne Sinn eingehaucht. Tja, yesterday
The Berosinis were awesome, thanks for sharing this show i was only a few months old when this show aired.looking forward to the other episodes, kind of cool to see celebs in their younger days
Ethel and Jimmy were so close. It goes all the way back to when she was discovered. They remain close up until the end
Jimmy Durante was 77 years old at this taping.
one of music greatest singers ever...and the guy who tony bennett said he wished he could sing as good as him....the answer?
Jimmy Durante!
You may remember jimmy Durante as the narrator in frosty the snowman in 1969 on cbs.
Cree Bratton of “ the Office “ left on guitar, lol
Those Berosini ladies...my, my, my. Thanks for this and PLEASE, more Hollywood Palace shows. It ran six years so there HAS to be more out there!
Larry Bishop and Rob Reiner completely tanked!
Jimmy Durante had to be 77 in this episode. He still had it!
74
I think Hellzapoppin was my favorite Jimmy Durante performance of all time.
Health Department Will certainly not a film starring Jimmy Durante and the Broadway show was headed up by Olsen and Johnson. I've heard that show was performed with other comedians starring, I think Yuri Lewis revived it once if you want to call him a comedian, but I never heard that Durante performed and a version of the show. It is impossible that you saw a live performance is it? I know the film starring Olsen and Johnson but there's no theatrical release with Durante, so what are you referring to? I'd love to know the answer
@@rufust.firefly2474 Are you serious? It is the first number of the show! It starts at 2:12
I love the Lennon Sisters
SHOWBIZ GREATNESS
"This is your brain on the Peace Corps"
Is that Jessica Walter in the Lucky Strike ad?
A young Creed Bratton....
...and a young Rob Grill., Warren Entner & Rick Coonce.
Well, Rob, Warren and Rick weren't in a highly popular TV sitcom just a couple years ago. ;-)
Hahaaa, Ethel doin' Nancy Sinatra moves.
Rob Reiner's father is Jerry Lewis?
Carl Reiner is his father
CREED!!
Multi-tracking killed The Lennon Sisters' career.
In order to look good in 1960's clothes, a man had to have skinny, perfectly straight legs. Watch the dancers.
.
There's Meathead!
That comedian was terrible.
Might want to look up your history
God, how do we educate these people?
his forte was as a talk show guest
