- First up on our first King Sisters Wednesday from 1967 on the Hollywood Palace is the moms in their stunning Bob Mackie gowns singing their wonderful jazz arrangement of "I'm Old Fashioned" by Jerome Kern. Extra fabric was needed on all of Marilyn's gowns that year as she was pregnant with daughter Jenny.
I'm adding an extra little bit on the post in honor of Father's Day last Sunday. This piece, "The Men In My Little Girl's Life", originally recorded by Mike Douglas, was a staple in our show for almost every performance from the very first tour. I actually surprised myself as I teared up at seeing my sweet Dad with all my darling cousins. You'd think this number were written especially for our family. Over the years all the girls would play the various ages of 'the daughter'. 2 verses were left out of this version for time constraints on TV. As time went by, Laurette and Susannah would take over from Xan. That little girl inside Marylin's tummy would take over Laurette's part, and Tina's son Volney would take over from Jonathan. Tempus Fugit indeed...
O how I love listening to the beautiful harmonies of the King sisters...wish they were still here

What a joy to see the Sisters sing (lip-sync?) I'm Old Fashioned. I bought that album in 1969 and know it just as well as I know the Four King Cousins LP I received for my birthday that year. They look like they're having a ball doing it. And a tug on the old heart strings courtesy of your dad. He was so good at "spoken word" numbers. Thanks for this, it's brand new to me!
