Baldur was ridiculously strong, but the strongest thing about him was obviously his durability, with Kratos remarking many times during their fight how he didn't seem to respond to pain or injury. "The stranger, however, recovered quickly, deflecting Kratos' blows and using his superior strength to seize Kratos by the neck and fling him into the garden behind the house." Quote from the book. "The man displayed no bruising, had no bleeding, and maintained complete control of his limbs despite the pummeling Kratos had delivered." Another one. Kratos rammed thes tranger into the monolith. He responded by jamming his fingers into the cracks of the tree trunk to tear it in half. Kratos began to realize his strength might be insufficient to defeat this one. The power this man controlled seemed far greater than any Kratos had encountered in his past life." All of this is from the beginning of the game, so Kratos was likely rusty, for he had never expended even a hint of his true strength in centuries. Much later in the book, Kratos seems to handle Baldur much more easily, further supporting the rusty argument.
I'm surprised the book reads that since Kratos IS stronger and is able to overpower Baldr, easily given he uses his Spartan Rage. However, Baldrs durability ultimately posed a threat to Kratos as the fight seemed hopeless. That is the essence of their power levels, Baldrs strength isn't "superior" to Kratos', it's besides the point
Odin tbh should be no2. Not for his raw strength (he is pretty strong and magical aswel) but DAMN that guy is a master manipulator & controller. He used to have 9 dammed realms under his thumb for centuries, & he only lost because he didn't grasp the full threat Kratos posed quickly enough. I'm pretty sure if Odin was able to know that he could only strike Kratos once before he went on a God rampage, he would have sent Thor, Baldor, Magni & Modi, Heimdall, Sif, Thrud, the whole Enhejiar army to just flatten him. A.K.A.; If mimir was still in Odins side he would have won.
@@goldenbrandon1716 Nah. He is strong but there is nothing to prove that his power was above other strong Gods like Poseidon, much less Zeus. Maybe combat wise he was better than Zeus because he might have fought against Valkyries for fun sometimes or such but that's just me guessing.
Without Gaia, the kratos vs poseidon fight would've been a hell of a lot more different. I was disappointed in how easy that boss fight was but then I finally realized it's because a Titan and a God Double teamed Poseidon. So honestly, it just makes sense as to why he lost the way he did.
Gaia isn't as big of a deal as you think. She literally said that the gods are far too powerful for her and the Titans. Kratos literally defeated Hades 1v1 who is probably superior to Poseidion via soul amps, it wouldn't have gone as different as you think.
They also splintered the Yaggrsrill(don't know how to say it).Which contains the 9 realms, which are all infinite universes. Kratos scales higher than high multiversal.
I think you misunderstood it. Thor and Jormungandr fought equally, and in the middle of their battle one of their clashes splintered the yggdrasil. The Yggdrasil or World tree is basically the Norse Multiverse, each branch has its own "realm" or universe which are all "infinite" and have their own concepts of space and time.(that's why at one point, Kratos entered the light for a few seconds but it was days for Atreus). Long story short, the world serpent wrapped itself around the world tree which was then splintered, this caused time and space(reality) to warp around the serpent therefore sending it back in time before it was even born. Thor didn't send him back, but his actual feat was breaking the concepts of time and space(this is a shared feat since the tree splintered due to their clash) That places both their peaks within the complex multiversal ranges. That Ragnarok happened thousands or at least hundreds of years in the future so it's possible Thor was stronger or weaker than he currently is in the game, since Kratos' very existence in the Norse world caused Ragnarok to come much earlier in this timeline. And Jormungandr being knocked out by Baldur implies that it got considerably weaker when it got sent back in time(it probably spent eons in a timeless void before actually reaching the current timeline, which is why it's memory of Atreus is hazy yet familiar) This explains why Jormungandr destroyed Thor's statue but always remained neutral, you'd think if it still had its peak power, it would've challenged Thor by now to end things properly. This part was just my own deduction, I think it got weaker so Baldur doesn't actually scale to Thor or Jormungandr at their peaks for that matter, if that makes sense?
@@Blake2X4 hercules is confirmed in gow1 novel to have taken atlas's burden. And in gow3 he brings up his 11th labor which is the one where he did this.
@@jacob2855 it’s impossible for that to be true since atlas was forced to carry the Greek universe back in chains of Olympus and that was before gow 1 and atlas is shown to still be there by the time gow 2 happened and gow 3 happened in the timeline where kratos saved himself so atlas was still carrying everything during the fall of Olympus, also the gow 1 novel was retconed because it made the gow universe look small by having ares visiting the Egyptian pantheon in the same planet, I say retconned because the Norse game is trying to imply that each pantheon governs it’s own macrocosm sort of thing, Cory explains it but people take it as something easy to do for gods, tir traveled different realms by stepping out of the Norse one
Baldur with curse and Thor are absolutely the strongest, Mimir has already told multiple stories of how many giant he killed and Baldur with curse is essentially invincible
Baldur with curse might be unkillable, even to Kratos, but Kratos defeats him several times before their final battle. Even though Kratos could never have put Baldur down for good, he was still much stronger and smarter than the indestructible god…
@@Kodiakhunter Oh 100%, people take kratos to be possibly weaker and only a demigod but he is a god, by all means, and he can’t really die due to the curse of the ashes that the prophet put on him when he killed karen and the kids. So he has always gained passive strength, and now that he knows how to keep his shit together it makes him even more dangerous even to the norse pantheon because he thinks very methodically and almost without emotion in scenarios where empathy or sympathy would be shown by a person. He is able to completely shut down emotion and use anger as a tool.
if you ask me, Charon should've been on this list. He even defeated Kratos at one point but ended up dying later in the game. He was one hell of a fight and is a pretty tough character
Well invincible his body might be he could still be incapacitated with enough forces. I remember that Cory Barlog himself stated that if Kratos didn't hold back against Baldur the latter would be incapacitated for days long enough for Kratos to finish most of his quest. Also if the invincibility spell's rule works similarly to the myth version, outsider gods including Kratos should've been able to bypass it since they never swore to never hurt Baldur and it's unlikely that Freya would visit every existing pantheon to request every god to never be able to hurt her son especially it's known that some pantheons don't welcome outsider gods in their regions.
I don't know how so many people in the comments section can fail so abysmally at reading comprehension. The quote for Baldur being 'confirmed' to be the strongest opponent Kratos has faced is as follows: "The power this man controlled seemed far greater than any Kratos had encountered in his past life" Ignoring the fact that this is coming from the same novelisation that has multitudes of contradictions with the game, which is the actual canon, the term 'seemed' already calls the quote into question since it is a subjective observation from Kratos' point of view. It is also a reference to Baldur's at the time unknown invulnerability, not his power or his strength. Furthermore the idea that Baldur is Kratos' strongest opponent makes no sense narratively nor does it make sense when comparing his fights to Kratos' fights against someone like Zeus (the supreme ruler of all the Greek World). Per two sources, Kratos in his first fight with Baldur was rusty and weaker than he used to be and is 'shaking off the cobwebs', and still he overcame and incapacitated Baldur. Compare that to Zeus near-equalling a raging GOW 3 Kratos and giving him the fight of his life. It isn't a comparison. Add that to Bruno Velazquez, who has worked on 4 GOW games stating that Zeus would beat Baldur no contest and it's clear that Zeus is by far superior to Baldur.
People are just biased for the new GOW. I mean don't get me wrong, I love it, but Baldur is nowhere near Zeus even with invulnerability. If Kratos didn't hold back he would turn Baldur into red paste in their first fight, would have taken weeks to regenerate
If you wanna get technical here, Thor actually succeeded in defeating Kratos during their first encounter. Thor smacked Kratos in the head with Mjolnir and Kratos literally died but Thor brought him back because he wanted a good fight.
@@pototat8405 agreed... Sigrun is that difficult because she's an optional boss. Her fight is way harder than the final fight against Baldur but that doesn't mean she's more powerful than he is.
Here’s my top 7 strongest 1v1 gods from both the Greek and Norse pantheon from this series. I’m not including characters like freya because it’s hard to judge her strength since kratos never fought her seriously. I’m also not including Thanatos since I never played that one and can’t judge. 1. Zeus or Odin (tough to decide between these 2 since kratos had Loki and freya backing him up verse Odin, while zues was kratos’ most hard fought battle) 2. Thor- only god that managed to kill a healthy kratos during their first encounter 3. Heimdall- kratos required a very specific and powerful weapon to hurt heimdall. Without it, kratos wouldn’t be able to even touch him 4. Baldur- with the invulnerability aspect, he’d probably be number 2 behind Odin and zues because those two are basically all knowing and would be able to figure out how to make baldur vulnerable again. But I’m judging him without his invulnerability. Kratos’ fight with him was extremely hard fought. 5. Ares- this one is hard to judge because it’s tough to tell how much stronger kratos has become since the first game, but ares gave kratos a serious run for his money plus kratos needed Pandora’s box to defeat him 6. Hades (gave kratos more trouble than Poseidon but less so than the gods higher on this list) 7. Poseidon

Weird idea for God of war boss Anubis. Attacks: Sandstorm, if it manages to reach Kratos, it will temporarily swap the controls, referencing its blinding affect. The boats of Ra, Anubis will send a ship, about the size of a house, your way. If it hits you, you'll be knocked out, and the attack deals quite the amount of damage. Wrath of the Nile, Anubis sends a flood your way. If you try to block it, there is a 30% chance you'll take a bit less damage. God of the dead, Anubis rises undead mummies and husks to attack Kratos. A Pharoah's tomb, the strongest attack in Anubis's arsenal. Using rocks from a nearby Tomb, Anubis animates a sandstone Golem, two if low on health, to attack Kratos. They won't go down easy either. Normal attacks, which include: A ball of lava flies at Kratos, which can be blocked, Anubis shoots energy blasts at you, which can also be blocked. If you beat Anubis, he will say in a cutscene, "Not bad for a, spartan. But You'll never win. The fires of Ra will burn you down, And I can't wait to see the sand strip you of your flesh, mortal.. **Anubis then shoots sandstorm at Kratos, and retreating** Anubis speaks to the Pharoah about Kratos, that he is a dangerous being, and the Pharoah should ready his army. Anubis appears one last time in the finale of the game aiding Ra, but dies as his head is chopped, and his golden staff is used by kratos against Ra.

@Gottes God No Odin’s mistake was he didn’t want to change. Odin didn’t care who he Backdoor so long as he got what he wanted. 0. Athena and Thot (Possibly) - The Higher Existence could possibly transcend Yggdrassil however we don't have enough evidence to confirm 1. Old Kratos (God Of Peace)- This one is obvious; Kratos killed Thanatos who's Realm transcends Abstract Concepts, he defeated POF Zeus who defeated the same Titans that could also create Abstract Concepts, lifted Tyr's Temple which contains the 9 Realms, defeated Thor who accidentally splintered Yggdrassil which that alone is 5D, defeated Odin who killed Ymir who ecompasses Midgard and the Infinite sized Branch which holds it and etc. 2. Odin - He defeated Ymir who's flesh was used to create Midgard which is a Infinite sized Realm with its own Laws and Physics and the Branch where it's mere strands transcends Space-Time Continuum and has been stated to possibly contain Infinite Spatial Dimensions. 3. Young Kratos (Power Of Hope) - He defeated Zeus who was stated to be miles beyond the Titans who created Abstract Concepts including Cronos who created "Time". He is also beyond Thanatos who's Realms transcends Abstract Concepts. 4. Zeus (Power Of Fear) - he was stated to be miles beyond the Titans who created Abstract Concepts including Cronos who created "Time". He is also beyond Thanatos who's Realms transcends Abstract Concepts. 5. Thor - In his fight against Jormungandr during the events of Ragnarok, he splintered Yggdrassil causing Jormungandr to be sent towards time and a single strand already transcends Space-Time Continuum + the fact that Thor didn't even intentionally did it meaning that he could had easily do it if he actually tries. 6. Baldur - He knocked out Jormungandr who tanked an attack from an Enraged Thor which is the same attack that splintered Yggdrassil. 7. Zeus - He defeated the Titans who also created Abstract Concepts and is beyond the Sisters If Fate. 8. Young Kratos - He slaughtered the entire pantheon except for Zeus including The Sisters Of Fate who can control Fate and Time, Thanatos who's Realm transcends Abstract Concepts and some of the Titans who created Abstract Concepts. 9. The Sisters Of Fate - They control the Time and Fate of every single Mortal, God and Titan in Greek Mythology aside from Kratos and Zeus. 10. No spoilers, but if the 2018 reboot was set in Greece (and the og trilogy in Norway), Odin and Thor would definitely have been portrayed exactly like Zeus and Hercules, with Odin being the muscular overlord, like Zeus, and Thor not being a pivotal character to the plot, just like Hercules.
I feel like the Norse Gods in the games franchise just feel considerably weaker than the Greek pantheon. This is because unlike before Kratos is nowhere near using his full strength as he did before for obvious reasons. As for Spartan rage it just seems like the state he was constantly in in the previous games as in 2018 it’s just a way to temporarily use your rage as strength. To make sure you don’t blow boy up in the process.
@empty Cory Barlog the director of both 2 and 4 stated that he's stronger than he ever was in the Greek days, being more blood thirsty does not make you stronger it just means you're more willing to attack to kill. Kratos in 4 was constantly holding back because he didn't want to kill people and was trying to teach his son.
Baldur at #8 makes no sense, he's the strongest god Kratos has even faced acc to the novel, even though it has a to do with his invulnerability. After Baldur was vulnerable to physical and magical threats, Kratos wiped the floor with him.
Great video but you could have also included the sisters of fate, they're deemed to be the gods of fate and the entities that decide your future even zeus respected them
Zeus was the strongest God there was in GOW world. This man was untouchable and capable of destroying the world if he wanted to. The only reason Zeus lost to Kratos was because of the sword of Olympus Wich was made by Zeus him self it was the strongest weapon made and Kratos had to get it in order to win if Kratos didn't had the sword he would lost and not come back because after hades died Kratos can't revive anymore.
Technically, Freya is the only one not lost to Kratos here. The same might be said for Thor, as he literally fought Kratos right after defeating the World Serpent. We can hardly predict who will win if Thor fought Kratos first, especially he did best Kratos in the first encounter.
Meh, Thor is the only one that not only was prophesied to kill him, but actually killed him anyway and revived him just to see his power. After all - he is described as a destroyer himself even if he doesnt have the title of GoW.
It’s painfully obvious after ragnarok that the Greek pantheon was leagues stronger than the Nordic pantheon if Kratos had gone as hard against the Nordic pantheon as he did with the Greek they would’ve had no need for ragnarok or to bring the realms together
I swear, the weakest Valkyrie is so much stronger than Baldur. I didn’t die or even struggle against Baldur but against any Valkyrie took multiple attempts
Sorry but a few incorrect statements. Athena never followed kratos to the Norse lands. That was just his guilt. It was in his head. Also Freya didn't create a spell to remove pain from baldur. She made him invulnerable. The sensations going away was just a side effect of that. Also he does feel emotions. Idk where you're getting your info from.

Kratos scales higher than high multiversal.
@@Goat10Solos I don't think it's infinite universes, but for sure is multiversal level
@@TheWarchiefZekeJaeger No the 9 realms are literally all confirmed to be infinite universes lmao.
@@Goat10Solos You would be correct sir.
Thor didn't send him back, but his actual feat was breaking the concepts of time and space(this is a shared feat since the tree splintered due to their clash)
That places both their peaks within the complex multiversal ranges.
That Ragnarok happened thousands or at least hundreds of years in the future so it's possible Thor was stronger or weaker than he currently is in the game, since Kratos' very existence in the Norse world caused Ragnarok to come much earlier in this timeline.
And Jormungandr being knocked out by Baldur implies that it got considerably weaker when it got sent back in time(it probably spent eons in a timeless void before actually reaching the current timeline, which is why it's memory of Atreus is hazy yet familiar)
This explains why Jormungandr destroyed Thor's statue but always remained neutral, you'd think if it still had its peak power, it would've challenged Thor by now to end things properly.
This part was just my own deduction, I think it got weaker so Baldur doesn't actually scale to Thor or Jormungandr at their peaks for that matter, if that makes sense?
Hermes and Helios stronger than Heracles?
Heracles is compared to Atlas, a titan with infinity strenght. Lol.
He might only beat them in physical strength
No, kratos is compared to atlas, if Heracles was just as strong then he wouldn’t have been violated that casually

Only to keep getting bodied by Kratos, regardless to his invincibility kratos always holds his own.
Baldur is definitely the toughest, he's LITERALLY unbeatable, if not for the accidental mistletoe collision, he would still be alive and unfazed .
@@darkemperortheobscureone694 That would be like saying Achill ios ubeatable

I don't know how so many people in the comments section can fail so abysmally at reading comprehension. The quote for Baldur being 'confirmed' to be the strongest opponent Kratos has faced is as follows:
"The power this man controlled seemed far greater than any Kratos had encountered in his past life"
Ignoring the fact that this is coming from the same novelisation that has multitudes of contradictions with the game, which is the actual canon, the term 'seemed' already calls the quote into question since it is a subjective observation from Kratos' point of view.
And thor was holding back 💀
Right? But I mean, Zeus kinda killed him too. I think they should be top 2

1. Zeus or Odin (tough to decide between these 2 since kratos had Loki and freya backing him up verse Odin, while zues was kratos’ most hard fought battle)
2. Thor- only god that managed to kill a healthy kratos during their first encounter
3. Heimdall- kratos required a very specific and powerful weapon to hurt heimdall. Without it, kratos wouldn’t be able to even touch him
4. Baldur- with the invulnerability aspect, he’d probably be number 2 behind Odin and zues because those two are basically all knowing and would be able to figure out how to make baldur vulnerable again. But I’m judging him without his invulnerability. Kratos’ fight with him was extremely hard fought.
5. Ares- this one is hard to judge because it’s tough to tell how much stronger kratos has become since the first game, but ares gave kratos a serious run for his money plus kratos needed Pandora’s box to defeat him
6. Hades (gave kratos more trouble than Poseidon but less so than the gods higher on this list)

Kratos is underrated in some gow communities, he killed his own family, killed a god and become a god as a human and brought down olympus and Asgard!
i think atreus should at least have a chance seeing as he single handedly killed a whole army of elves while kratos was in the light 🙃
I thought that myself he killed like 60 on his own and seemed to have wielded the axe pretty well
do you think there will be God of war live action yes or no
what about the daughter of Thanatos? She was fairly powerful.
in GOW Ragnarok Thor actually kills Kratos but the dude just ends up reviving him 💀
note: this is the beginning of the game so it’s not a spoiler.
"baldur cannot feel emotion"
next sentence
"a raging inferno of hatred and anger"
Is this going by game difficulty? Because the Valkyrie’s are top 5, and Helios is a joke, so is Hades
Of course No, It's going by the lore. Game deficulty is a game mechanics, which doesn't show the truw power of the characters
@@dominus2184 ok if that’s true, there is no way that Kratos is at the top of the list. All of the lore behind Kratos comes from the game- seems like their are differing sets of standards for the characters.
It's been confirmed that Baldur is the strongest god Kratos has faced yet. Even being stronger than Zues himself, the king of the Greek gods
@@giganticomega6821 Cory didn’t say that because his father is the one who writes them lol
@@PridedWaif Well the novel does state the blades of chaos are stronger then the leviathan axe and mjolnir. LOL So I guess kratos doesn't have them when clashing with thor in the trailer for a reason. Thor would get wrecked.
@@giganticomega6821 Yeah and also in the game Baldur state the only one to ever give him a challenge was Odin. Also gotta remember that Thor & Jormungander had a tie in battle. Baldur knocked Jormungander out cold when he connected flushed with his punch.
Lucifer put his hand right through his chest
Lol, strongest god kratos has ever faced and broke his necks twice😂😂
I wonder if we are going to see Hel, the ruler of Helheim
No spoilers, but if the 2018 reboot was set in Greece (and the og trilogy in Norway), Odin and Thor would definitely have been portrayed exactly like Zeus and Hercules, with Odin being the muscular overlord, like Zeus, and Thor not being a pivotal character to the plot, just like Hercules.
"Kratos is undefeated."
Kratos: Has huge skar on his stomach from a huge defeat, costing his life.
To make sure you don’t blow boy up in the process.
kratos in 2018 is stronger then he was in 3
@empty Cory Barlog the director of both 2 and 4 stated that he's stronger than he ever was in the Greek days, being more blood thirsty does not make you stronger it just means you're more willing to attack to kill.
Y'know, if you try and imagine Zeus being bald and having black hair he kinda looks like Norse Kratos
I cant wait to play this on my ps4. It feels good that the game is coming out on “BOTH CONSOLES!!!!!!!” And Im happy for that.
I like to see Kratos vs World War Hulk and fight the Shinto deities. That would awesome.
Honestly poseidon deserves a higher position in this ranking.Guy was taking on a titan and a god at the same time.
Technically, Freya is the only one not lost to Kratos here.
The same might be said for Thor, as he literally fought Kratos right after defeating the World Serpent. We can hardly predict who will win if Thor fought Kratos first, especially he did best Kratos in the first encounter.
He lost 💀
Meh, Thor is the only one that not only was prophesied to kill him, but actually killed him anyway and revived him just to see his power. After all - he is described as a destroyer himself even if he doesnt have the title of GoW.
It’s painfully obvious after ragnarok that the Greek pantheon was leagues stronger than the Nordic pantheon if Kratos had gone as hard against the Nordic pantheon as he did with the Greek they would’ve had no need for ragnarok or to bring the realms together
The Valkyrie queen was hands down the toughest single opponent fight in god or war, so much health and so many different attacks
It’s stated in the game that zuess was the strongest and in Greek mythology it’s common sense 🤦
That’s Greek mythology Thor is probably stronger
@@satorugojo1186 ONGGGG🤣💪 these kids have never played the original god of war the watch to much marvel and super heroes
If Hephaestus actually fought he would probably be on with Poseidon at least.
Nice one danco 👍👊
Is Kratos the only character that defeated his enemies without plot armor?
I find that funny lol
@@troy2428 every character ever created and used in video games, books or whatever they all have plot armor.
@@LuciferMoringstar999 kratos came back to life multiple times
@@troy2428 I was agreeing with you.
@@LuciferMoringstar999 yeah ik I'm just saying Kratos is beyond them
I swear, the weakest Valkyrie is so much stronger than Baldur.
He literally cries and shoes anger multiple times throughout the games
Present Kratos needs to travel back in time to fight his prime former self.
The video's good bro but think about puting music to better enjoy it :)
7:55 “he can’t feel emotions” literally not even 10 seconds later “he fought with anger and hatred”
8:05 "AND NOT just raging inferno of hatred" your hearing is failing brother
